I will never frequent a business that goes out of its way to TELL specific groups of people that they dont want them. While I am not in that specific group, I find it appalling that a business owner would tell all Democrats that they are not welcome in this store.
Grocery store spices just dont compare to Penzeys spices. Ive been shopping here for years.
Always a pleasure to visit this online shop. I love cooking so this place is a god sent pleasure to shop at for all my spice needs.
The staff is knowledgeable and kind!
I love every soccer this company makes! Singapore seasoning is a must try, drizzle cauliflower with olive oil, generously douse with singapore seasoning and roast at 425, delicious!
Penzeys has such a large variety of spices to choose from, its almost overwhelming to pick, but I always manage. I usually end up buying more than what I need because of their deals. Do yourself a favor and subscribe to their newsletter because they have such low priced sales and you wont know unless you subscribe. Every person that works there that has helped me is kind and helpful.
Great place for most of my spice needs, also their curbside covid system worked far better than most other places I visit.
Top-shelf spices from an impeccable company.
Spices here are beyond compare. Really top notch. However, they sent me an email a few years back that asked me not to purchase from them if I didnt agree with them politically. Dont tell them, but I still shop here for a few spice blends I can only buy from them. Everything else I have sourced elsewhere. Freedom of speech is foundational to my identity as an American. So I will defend to my death the right this company has to say what they did. And I have the right to buy my spices from someone else.
Usual Penzeys selection of spices and herbs. Prices have gone up, but still under most retail stores. As of Sept 9, 2020, covid precautions are in effect. Store is open for doorway pick up only. You may call store directly and they will pickup off the shelves and set outside for you. Credit card necessary. Store staff is busy as a result, but still wonderfully friendly.Unfortunately, you cant smell the spices under these circumstances, one of the best reasons to visit the store.
Best place to buy spices. Everyone there is friendly. Currently doing online ordering and curbside pickup
I have been buying Penzeys spice since before the Internet, I used to call in my orders😁. I love their blends and buying small jars of new things makes them easy to try.
There is no place quite like this. It does not matter if you are an expert in the kitchen or just a beginner, youll love this place. The staff is super knowledgeable about all of the spices, and fun ways to use them.Penzeys Spices also make great gifts!
Got to the Torrance location at 10:30AM Tuesday. Store hours posted are 10-6, M-SA. Sign says hours vary but what are they? Nothing on the website and forget about getting through on the phone. One person in the store saw me and thenignored me. I just wanted to know the hours so I could come back.I guess they are open, when it’s convenient for them.
Great store. Highly organized. Scent sampler jars accompany each type of spice. Friendly knowledgeable staff. A bit more pricey than supermarkets. But, you get true quality spices.
This place is my go to for amazing spice selections from all over the world. Highly recommend the Sunny Paris and the black pepper no pepper tastes better, and these two are great for just about everything! If you cant get into the brick and mortar store, you can make selections on line too, but the experience of shopping in store is like no other. I always think what I can make with the wonderful smelling spices. I 💖 Penzeys! Wish they would bring one back to the west side tho.
You can smell it as soon as you park your car. Its an intoxicating aroma. Staff is happy to recommend something youve never tried before, and, let you know theyve tried something but didnt totally love it. I respect that.
I love Penzeys. Imagine going to a perfume counter and smelling all of the fragrances, until you find the one you like. This is that place!!! And they are socially conscious and wear their patriotism on their labels!! ❤
My new favorite place!! Just being in the store makes me happy, and I always love everything I buy from them. Their spices are top of the line at really affordable prices, and the staff is always so friendly!
Great little store. There is a wide variety of spices to choose from, some spices I had never heard of. Not as pricey as I expected. There are cute little gift boxes, bigger gift boxes, and individual spices available here. The small gift boxes are reasonably priced, and online they offer great deals/coupons that can also he used in store. I just walked in the store out of curiosity, and I am glad I went in. There spice blends are great. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the store smells wonderful, like a grandmas kitchen
If you love cooking and want the WOW in your food, you must shop here for your spices. My only negative is they are midwest and dont quite have Southwest down but I get around that. Too many great choices here to let that get in the way. Steak lovers get Chicago Steak and use lightly. Beats all others!
Weve been coming to this shop for years! Its a family place, the kids can color while you shop. We like getting the chili spice mixes, saffron and you should get the hot chocolate mix! Their mix makes the perfect cup of hot cocoa! I love smelling all of the spices and herbs. The staff is super helpful and can guide you in the right direction if you tell them what you are in search of. I usually leave with more than I intended to buy, but its worth it! If you love to cook, you need to be shopping here!
Always welcoming and easy to find what you want (and find that you need even more than you thought!) Love their products, people, and physiology!
Super good quality spices, its a brilliant spot to smell and explore the world of spice for begginers and more experienced cooks. I highly recommend the Turkish oregano, its very good quality. If your in store and are a curry fan please smell the curry spices- they are out of this world. Decent prices also - win win.
Penzeys spices cost a little more than spices elsewhere but its absolutely worth it when it comes to quality, itll take your cooking to the next level and theyre worth a separate trip. I definitely recommend their spice blends, throw some Sunny Paris seasoning or Arizona dreaming into some eggs, some Ruth Anns seasoning on chicken to get compliments.
This place changed the way me and my wife cook. Amazing options and so many various gift sets, from $20 up to $100 and more, but SOOOOO worth it... I recommend this place for anyone that cooks their own food. Period.I recommend their unique 4/S seasoning salt, roasted garlic powder, and their personal blend of taco seasonings.
I dont know if its their spices or their politics that drag me here in spite of the distance from my home. Maybe its both! I make an outing of it whenever I shop there. A fun day and I support a business whose politics match mine.
Very helpful and knowledgable. I always leave with a smile.
Fresh spices in small batches and incredible salt free blends. My only spices for the last twenty years.
Best place ever. Spices are the best.💓💕💗❤
I shop there almost weekly, great staff. I like the smaller bottle size so I always will have fresh spices. Sign up for their newsletter and you will great sales info
I love the Smell...And now they adding Salt Free combinations...
I think their spices taste different (much better!!) than the supermarket spices you buy. I just wish they were organic!
Best spice purveyor locally. The roasted garlic is addictive and so many amazing rubs!
Confused as to why a store would just sell spices? Pop by and ask the staff. They have jars of everything they sell out, so you can take a sniff and understand what youre getting in to. Their house spice blends and rubs are fantastically varied, and usually pretty good. If you need a really nice addition to your spice rack, or a great hostess gift, this is the spot. They also carry real cinnamon, amazing cocoa powder, and other great baking staples. Buy bigger bags of the things you like and buy your own jars.Park across the street.
We have been using Penzeys spices for years and years now. My mother is a fantastic cook. One of our favorites is Sunny in Paris although we buy all kinds of spices there. We are very disappointed that the Santa Monica store has closed! They do have an option to order on line but one of our favorite trips was going to the actual store to smell all the wonderful spices. They have great gift and variety packages as well. If you want to add flavor to your food without adding calories you must shop here.
Standard selection. Minimal selection of salt. Onion and garlic flake overpriced, on par with good peppercorns and paprika. Spent much less than planned.
Vast array of spices and even premade rubs for you to choose. The staff is very attentive, and are willing to help you find the product you are looking for. I browsed the store for so long, smelling spices and completely losing my sense of time. Luckily, the staff does not mind, and if you just want to browse, theyll be there doing their own thing and will stop what they are doing to help if you do ask for it. I like to get their whole peppercorns here for my grinder.
First visit was today. What a wonderful store. Its HUGE and filled with every herb or spice you could possible want, plus unique blends youve never heard of. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Will most definitely be back.
Penzeys is by far the best place to go for spices. anything you need they have, shallot pepper is the best for whatever!
Fantastic selection, wonderful people. Couldnt ask for anything more.
This is the only place I purchase spices...they are the best. 4 stars instead of 5 because some of the workers are standoffish.
Despite all of its neighbors being open, Penzeys is not open to shoppers.
This is my favorite store, so many choices and combinations of spices. The staff are friendly and very helpful. A friend recommended this place for success every time you cook.
Very knowledgeable staff. Very friendly
Wife spends a ton of $ in this place. They have every spice you can think of. They even mix spices to make a custom one
Love this place. Everyone is so friendly. Their spice blends are very tasty. My favorite is the Old World spice blend.
My wife found what she was looking for, great customer service very helpful
They have the best seasoning and customer service.
Plenty of selection and great customer service. I will definitely be returning.
This is a cooks treasure chest. Love the wonderful blends I find each time I cruise the store. Love this place and also get excellent creative cooking ideas from the knowledgeable staff.
Great place to buy your spices and herbs. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Now I will make my own Japanese curry roux. Thanks to Penzeys!
Great selection, knowledgeable staff, sign up for their emails for awesome deals!
The staff was helpful. The store smelled great.
All the best spices for cookers and. BAKERS
I love Penzeys! It is the only place I get my spices anymore. They make a huge difference to the flavor of my dishes. I used bay leaves for years but never knew what they were supposed to smell like until I discovered Penzeys. You can order online but its so fun to go into the shop and smell everything before you purchase. Dont forget to bring your coupon from their catalogue for a free sample of whatever spice is on special that season. Just as an aside, the bottles are larger than most spice bottles, and I found a rack that fits them at the Container Store.
I always pick up special spices at Penzeys. I think they are the best and they offer frequent promotions.
Always great spices to find and try
If you need it, theyve got it! Very friendly & helpful staff.
Loved it,This is what heaven smells like!
The staff is always helpful and friendly!
Anyone who loves to cook or loves to eat--or possesses taste buds and has a soul--will find Penzeys just as appealing as I do the moment they enter the store. You will never find a place that smells better... except maybe Hershey, Pennsylvania, which would undoubtedly lose its charm pretty quickly if you had to spend more than an hour there.Every spice you can imagine--and plenty youve never heard of--line the many shelves of Penzeys. In addition, youll find soup stocks, cocoa powders of various descriptions, baking seasonings (such as several varieties of cinnamon, and yes, you CAN smell the difference!), pepper grinders and empty seasoning jars you can use to mix your own seasonings, as I do. But what keeps me coming back to Penzeys every few weeks are the spice blends that they make and sell. They have a whole section devoted to these, with such imaginative names as Galena Street Spice and Arizona Dreaming. My two favorites are the Bicentennial Blend (which I use instead of lemon pepper on roasted chicken sometimes for a fantastic treat brimming with flavor) and the Turkish Seasoning. Ive never been to Turkey; I have no idea if anyone associated with Penzeys has actually set foot in Constantinople. If this blend is authentically Turkish in flavor, something tells me Id enjoy my stay if I ever make it to the gateway of the Middle East, however. I use it for my ginger noodle recipe, chicken and stir-fried just about anything. When I run out, Ive found that either the Arizona Dreaming or the Northwoods Seasoning makes an excellent backup. For those who like to browse, every spice station has a sample jar for sniffing. These are not the little jars they sell to the public, but very large containers half-filled with whatever spice the station features; more than enough for a good sniff, and the jar is wide enough for you to fit your whole schnoz inside, even if you have a beak like Jamie Farr. The service in this store is always superb. We are always greeted warmly by the same two ladies (I dont even know if anyone else works there), who sometimes follow us around to answer questions if we so much as appear even slightly inquisitive; otherwise, they let us browse undisturbed. I dont know if they have ESP, have been excellently trained or are just unusually perceptive, but they never make me feel pressured or bothered with too much--or, worse, not enough--attention.Lastly, while you will pay a little more than you would for McCormick spices, the prices are very reasonable at Penzeys, especially considering the quality cannot be matched by any seasoning you can buy in any supermarket. Only babbling, drooling idiots would not LOVE this store.
This place is awesome... all kinds of spices and blends you would have a really hard time finding anywhere else.
Helpful folks and great spices
Wide selection of quality ingredients and friendly staff
Love Penzeys!
Just went by the Torrance store and it was gone. No more Penzeys. Anyone know if they moved or went out of business?
The best!!
Beautiful store.
I just passed through there
Freindly staff
Too much politics
