We were looking for a place to grab a quick bite after visiting the Toledo Zoo. Turns out there is no where to eat directly around the Zoo. So we thought there has to be bar food around the college. Stubborn Brothers was so much more than bar food. My wife and I split a meatball sub and a calzone. Both were very good but the sub was incredible.

Service was nice and fast, relaxed and industrial environment. 4/5 as I had a craving for an Italian dressing saturated sub and sweet marinara whereas their style is more crispy/garlicy/oily/meaty which was good but just not what I was looking for.

Loved going here and came here all the time but after not feeling welcomed and contacting management of the server not caring about our table we will not be going back. Management just simply shrugged off the situation and our server treated us horrible after we saw he was treating other guests with respect. pizza took over an hour and the server and manager avoided my table at all costs, had to ask the bartender for the bill.

Had a great pizza and drink at Dtubborn Brothers Puzza Bar. Pizzas are large and Salad was great.

Nice atmosphere.Pizza was very pricey and wasnt as tasty as it looked. Very floury pizza crust and the sauce was thin and not very flavorful. The crust was actually kind of tough and hard. The bread was also meh. It looked better than how it tasted. I probably will not return.

I ordered the Chicago Beef sub and it was amazing! I really didnt expect a whole lot so it was to my surprise that not only was the sub flavorful, it was stuffed and I mean stuffed with sirloin. I couldnt believe it. Almost all other places give you more bread than anything so Stubborn Brothers has totally earned my respect as expert sandwich makers... Great job guys!!!

We split the margherita pizza between three people. So good!!! Definitely will be back to try some of the other specialties, they were out of bread when we went.

The best! Got a slice and a big antipasto salad. I know the theme is NYC (and the water! So good!), but I always feel like Im with my cousins in Philly when I eat here!

Great food at a nice price! $22 for an 18 pie. My wife and I had the Johnnys Special. Crisp, thin crust with just the right amount of Genoa salami, caramelized onions, and peppers. We each tried the House salad for $4 apiece. Our salads were fresh and it was lightly dressed.Chef Alessio stopped by our table to check on us and offered his twice garlic baked garlic rolls. The staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating.

I have delivered from here, the food has always been ready beforehand or right on time. The staff has been very helpful and quick. Today my husband and I ate here for the first time. We had a beefsteak type stromboli called Chicago beef. The beef was tender and had onions and banana peppers to my surprise, I love banana peppers. It was delicious. The pizza aroma was all throughout the restaurant. Would give a 5 star rating everytime.

At first was a little slow and getting our order in but they were packed so I didn’t really care. Food was AMAZING 🤩! Ended up meeting the owner which made our experience honestly really great! Hearing her reason for opening and having a one on one talk with her made it feel so chill 😊 first time going and definitely will be back!

I have to say, Stubborn Brothers Pizza Bar was awesome! Everything you want in a bar, plus excellent pizza. Personable and friendly waitstaff. Great atmosphere with classic bar-style music and an inviting retro-modern interior. I will be coming back, and bringing more friends to experience Stubborn Brothers!

The pizza was fantastic tonight. However, our party of five, with 3 18inch pizzas, were cleared of our food and given carry out boxes halfway through our meal. We had to stop eating. There were 30 available seats inside the restaurant . The lady who did this was not our server. Totally unacceptable. This place just lost 5 customers plus more.

I am not sure where to start. I had high hopes for this place. Perhaps under another circumstance it could be better.I was on my way back home and finally decide d to try this place. Opting for this over another place down the road.Lets start with the online process. I got a number and called it. I couldnt get through. I went ahead and went through the online ordering process. I thought the 30 to 40 minute wait time for a thin pizza this time of day was ridiculous but maybe they were busy. I then ordered my pizza and upon check out it solicited 18, 20 or 22 percent tip or enter your amount. Which for pick up is kind of high. You would have to actually go out of your way to not tip the solicited amounts. Dont get me wrong I typically tip about 10 to 15 on carryout and 30 to 50 on dine in. However, when you are soliciting that type of percentage the workers need to be making sure quality control is good.So I arrive to find they were not very busy. I walked in and my pizza was ready. Might I add about 5 or 10 minutes earlier than the minimum quoted time. So that was good. The waitress also promptly greeted me and grabbed my pizza.I jump in my car and got about 2 minutes down the road. I decided to open and try it. There was a huge, probably 7 or more inches round burn through all pieces. I decided to try it right then. The pizza was so dried out and crunchy hard. I continued home and had my teenagers try it along with their friend. They all hated it and refused to eat. So quality control was garbage. Maybe a 2 out of 10.Usually I tend to be more forgiving but that is when merited. In this particular case you solicit a high pick up tip percentage, quote too long of a time and know you messed the pizza up and with time to correct opted to send it out anyway. It is just not a good look at all. Just remake the pizza and be done with it. There was 0 excuse for the garbage that was sent out to me. Had I waited for the quoted time it would have been a rock. And it still would have been sent out to me.

I really really like the food and atmosphere my food is always cooked perfect and always taste great. My reason for a two star is because literally every time (4) i come here the waitress comes one time and i never get asked how the food is or would i like another beer i have to flag someone down to get a refill. I do not expect much but i get asked one time if i need anything. I just wish the servers would make rounds and see if anyone needs refills on beer or pop. I have had this issues four times. I keep trying to give another chance. But i think this is my last. Let me make this clear the food is awesome the place is clean just awful. Service I do not ask much but they never make rounds and i feel they should notice a empty bottle. (Thank you for the response i will definitely come in again and if i have the same issue i will ask for you so we can talk in person thank you again and I do enjoy your food very much. And I definitely would spend more money there if i could get more then 2 beers)

If you love Italian as much as I do and you are sick of being disappointed by imitations and gimmicks then I HIGHLY recommend eating at The Stubborn Brother. I door dashed this for lunch at work and I tried their pasta bowl and added cheese for funsies (you can choose a protein to go with the pasta but thats not my vibe). It was glorious. The copious amount of cheese added in was phenomenal. Their red sauce is great, not too tart or acidic. Will be spending lots more of my dollars here!

Really good service especially with the curbside. Salads are great as is the sausage. The pizza has been inconsistent, the most recent there was little to no sauce and the outside crust was almost to hard to eat. On previous visits its been solid pizza, well made and flavorful.

Overall, a good place for good food. I was hoping for more of a NYC taste quality in the pizza and was a little disappointed as it did not meet these standards. Maybe I went in with too high of an expectation because of their NYC water replication filter system advertising. I would go again but now prefer Big Slice Pizzeria to fulfill my NYC taste buds.

Food was good. There were 8 of us. We were all served at different times. The first served were done eating while the others were waiting on food. Was not that busy.

We really liked the Gracies Veggie Pizza. It was baked excellent and the crust very good. The Twice Baked Garlic Rolls were an excellent appetizer! The ambiance could have been upgraded a bit.

I took my niece to Stubborn Brothers for lunch prior to her tour of University of Toledo. She had two big slices of pizza while I had the pasta with polish sausage. Food was served hot and fast. Our hostess was very personable and professional. Very friendly atmosphere. A must go and frequently.Great job!

I came in this Tuesday, I go every Tuesday and have an expectation of good service. However, there was some kind of “photoshoot” taking place and it noticeably slowed down the staff. I felt bad for the bartender. He was noticeably frustrated but tried his best. Both bartenders still found a way to make our experience go well, but I was just disappointed to see the lack of awareness via potentially management. It made the beginning of the dining experience seem rushed and hectic. It seemed like the “photoshoot” was taking up half of all the available seating. Absolutely ridiculous. Will have to reconsider ever coming back. “Photoshoot” aside, Drinks and trivia great as always. Food incredibly average, as always.

Family of 5 went on a Sunday for some Pizza. Great environment, well decorated and inviting. Server was OK, however in the middle of our service she notified she was leaving for the night. Not sure I have ever had a server leave in the middle of serving a table.No new server ever came over to complete the meal service. We actually had to seek out a server just to pay our bill. Really we could have left without anyone knowing.Pizza was OK. If you like that style it may be good, however I feel the two pizzas we tried were good, just not anything to tell your friends about. The pizzas are 18in pizzas so they are fairly large. The crust appears to be home made and hand spun, but lacked in any flavor. The same to say about the rest of the pizza l, it wasnt bad just not something I would look forward to getting again.

Great service, pizza, and subs. Good large NY/Jersey style slices. Taps rotate fairly regularly. TASTE, and outdoor space too. Kid friendly. Plus you can walk the UT campus before/after.

SO GOOD. If youre a fan of New York style pizza, you will love this place. This is now my favorite pizza place in Toledo- thin but chewy crust, light sauce, perfect amount of cheese. We got it twice in one week, we could not get over how good it was. Our second time visiting there was a slight issue/inconvenience with the online ordering, but the manager was very polite and understanding and made sure to correct it for us. We appreciate it! Well definitely be long time customers.

First time visit on Monday, February 10, 2020. To be honest the pizza was okay, the ambiance, decor, overall remodel of a older grocery store was phenomenal, somethilike out of Hells Kitchen. Nice & clean restrooms, large patio, garage doors, fast, friendly staff. I give all of that a 10 star. I was just disappointed in the pizza especially in a a restaurant whos specialty is pizza 😯 I will return to try the subs 😊

Really enjoyed the set up. Nice and spacious without over crowding for seating. Pizza was okay seemed to be missing a little something just couldnt figure out what was needed for my taste.

Firstly, we felt safe when we dined in. Staff wore masks appropriately and it was not crowded. Delicious thin crust pizza! Great atmosphere. I had the meatball sandwich. Big, crusty bread stuffed with 4 housemade meatballs smothered in their amazing sauce and cheese. It was memorable! The meatballs had the right proportion of spice so that it was flavorful but not overpowering. Honestly, the best meatball Ive ever had. I could have used more options for my picky 7 yr old. I wont come back if hes traveling with us. But if I swing through Toledo to visit my older son, we will definitely enjoy more of your masterpieces.

The Stubborn Brother Pizza Bar is one of the most interesting places I have ever been to... Not only do they have a Beautiful family there but also the best places to get Pizza... I met the owners of the establishment and his daughters and I must say that I was impressed with everything they did with the beautiful place... they had a luxurious way of saying Hi with all of their family and friends and I was blown away by all the beautiful comments that they gave me from just being there... My Beautiful wife was so impressed with how wonderful their love for their establishment was by emitting their love through out their establishment... If you have ever thought that you have had a slice of Pizza before then wait until you have a slice of Love that they are willing to show you and dont forget to bring lots of friends because this place is jam packed with Love...

Amazing Pizza, Pitiful Service....I used to go here constantly, but my visit tonight just affirmed why I stopped going. They have amazing, delicious pizza, but even as a regular, I couldnt get the time of the day from the bar staff. Recently I was gifted a gift card, and thought I would run back and grab some late night pizza. Instead I wait for over 30 minutes to have my 3 slices of pizza delivered to me. Mind you, this whole time, I am essentially a ghost at the bar to the staff, who is admittedly busy with closing operations, but never acknowledge my orders delay or check in with me. Finally, I said forget the pizza and walked out. Im done with this place, and its a shame because I love the pizza.EDIT: I have gone back since I made this review, multiple times. The service has never been a problem snce. The pizza is fantastic, some of the best in the city. I would recommend this place.

Very nice bartender helping me choose the perfect pizza slice w/beer compliment while serving several other tables. The pizza by the slice was comparable to the size Costco offers(big as sh*t.) I do wish they had more unique beers on tap. I think they could get rid of Michelin Ultra, Birra Peroni, Yuengling, Guinness or maybe not run the same beer on 2 taps so you can feature more porters, meads, sours, specialty IPAs. The above beers I mentioned could be offered to the basic people in bottles who live lackluster lives. Also they have very sexualized glass beer pulls.

Not only does the owner have the best steaks and seafood in town, he also has the best pizza in town. I visited Stubborn Brother last week and was very pleased. A clean, friendly atmosphere made my dining experience that much better. After trying the pizza for the first time, I could instantly tell that the ingredients used are nothing but the best. The sub and salad I had was also phenomenal. I highly recommend trying their pizza. Simply the best! Also, a great spot to drink a cold beer and watch all the games. Go check it out!

Delicious food! The pizza is huge- definitely will have leftovers for the next day. Try the wedge salad... you won’t be disappointed. Atmosphere is fun and everyone is so friendly every time we visit! My husband’s and my favorite pizza spot.

Lack of service.Went there on Father’s Day, June 21st around 2PM. After being greeted we were told to sit anywhere we like, which we did.After sitting there for around 7-8 minutes, some people in my party said it was over 10 minutes, no one came by to take are order or even ask us what we wanted to drink.They were not very busy at all, if they were I could have understood waiting. Three to four workers there were walking around talking or just standing. One was cleaning up a table. All of these workers made eye contact with us but no one came by.After not getting anyone to come over, we started to leave and as we were leaving I informed the host of what happened...her reply was apologetic but stated “ I am just the host”. With that I had no desire to stay around and talk to the manager.After leaving I felt compelled to call and spoke to Deb, the manger, who said it was a mixup of who had the section we were in. Deb did offer me a pizza on the house and did apologize.I do appreciate their gesture and do understand mixups but I had a similar scenario like this happen the first time I was here...this being the second time, I felt it was justified to post this review. My first visit, the server took our drink order but then disappeared and we had to ask for someone to take our pizza order.I will say the pizza is delicious, but due to a two time issue with service; I will not be returning.

Called ahead and brought a party of 13 on a Saturday night and they made room for us with no problem. Great service from our waitress and had the owner check on us several times. The pizzas were quickly delivered and unique to anything in Toledo. Great atmosphere, laid back and comfortable. A cool place.

First time experience. Enjoyed the pizza, it has that crispy, coal fired style crust. Plus a good beer selection, what more can you ask for? Fun atmosphere on a Tuesday night. Bar will be fun in the summer when they open the garage doors. Nice addition to our dining rotation.

Atmosphere was great! Wish they had smaller versions of the pizza, as I had to order a whole 18 pizza just for myself. Im the only vegan in my family. Its going to last me 3 days! Also, not 100% sold on the cheddar vegan cheese topping. Definitely an upscale pizza place, be prepared to spend some $$.

Soooooo slow. Only got 3 stars because the food was really good.Edit: I will give it another chance, but we were there for almost an hour and 20 minutes before we got our pizza when we went. Not a great first impression, but I will give the benefit of the doubt and assume that was a one off situation. I appreciate your response and I gave an extra star because the food really was delicious.

The slice of ricotta pizza and garlic parmesan wings I had were delicious. Mom had the spicy Italian sub... It lived up to its name. It was so spicy she couldnt eat it! The venue is nice, but definitely set up for the college atmosphere. Huge bar, too few tables and most of those are too large for just two, but most of all very open and noisy. The pizza alone is worth going back.

Awesome food. Service was probably the worse weve had in a restaurant in years. Mind you, we had a group of 8. One in the party ordered a sub, which came out about the time everyone else was done eating. Our appetizer came out about 5 minutes after some of our pizzas did. We had to remind our waitress that we were missing a pizza two times... before they tried to pick up the holder they put on the table to hold the pizza that didnt come. We ended up all sharing our pizzas so everyone could eat. After the third time asking for what we ordered, our pizza came. We ordered too much food, and needed a box. Ive had better service at Burger King. Burger King will give a slight discount when they mess up, it was a challenge to get a to go box here. But I will go back for the food, it was really good. But with no more than 1 person. And we will order simple.

Im sure as a normal patron this establishment is great, but as a 3rd party delivery driver they are terrible. They do not care about those orders if they are busy. The wait is forever. Time for them to do better or drop 3rd party delivery.

Great service and a great beer selection

My fiance and I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, just after the marathon had finished up earlier that day. As you walk in the door you are immediately greeted by the wonderful aroma of pizzas cooking in their oven. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a couple of cold adult beverages from their menu. We started off with some of their twice baked garlic bread, and followed that up with one of their signature pies the Johnnys Special. We were very pleased with both of our selections. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the food does not disappoint what so ever. I would totally recommend Stubborn Brother Pizza to anyone looking for some great pizza, friendly service and a great atmosphere.

Great atmosphere! Even better unique Pizza!! Unfortunately theres no specified seating, so when its not busy you just walk in and sit anywhere and the server will come to you. But if they declare its busy and you follow the same protocol, you will be asked to leave your seat for someone who checked in. Still, props to the chefs! I will keep coming back for the pizza and Tuesday trivia!

Staff are relatively unfriendly and distant...

Service was really slow and the server did not know the house liqueurs or draft specials. The pizza was amazing though!! Definitely worth the price and I will be back again. Hopefully next time service will be more friendly and stop by the table more then like 2 times.

Food is awesome but service is terrible. Takes forever for drinks, food, anything. Order more than one pizza and you will wait up to 20 minutes between them regardless of your party size. Again the food is wonderful and we will keep going back but I know several people who refuse to go back just based on service. Hopefully they get it figured out because the food is great.
