A nice diner with a decent size parking lot! You can sit indoors or outside on their patio. The patio is great on a nice day. But if it’s warm out, like the day I visited there was no breeze. Our server was friendly. It took some time for our meals to come out because they were short staff that day. Over all the food was good. Great presentation. The food was fresh and hot.
Great food and great location. There is a good amount of parking in the back which was surprising. It sits right on Duke street in Alexandria with the option of eating out on the porch that faces Duke street. Healthy portions of traditional breakfast favorites. You’ll get a good breakfast spending around $12 - $15.
The server, Destiny, did a fantastic job catering to our needs. Recommended the steak and eggs, and the Athens gyro. Both were really good, and she even made sure the steak was cooked to how I wanted it(it came too well done)! The grilled crostini with the crab dip was super delicious- crunchy, garlicky with a hint of cheese. Outdoor seating was great, just be careful with their street lights, they are pointy and was directly under one customer who stood up and hit his head(ouch!) Otherwise, definitely a good place to go back to.. Youll have a lot to choose from in their unique menu ( for a diner). Make reservations ahead of time- it was 30 minutes for us, and parking space was limited.
Food and service were good.I would have felt more comfortable if the staff had been wearing face masks, especially since there was a small child at another table. A reviewer from earlier this year wrote that the staff were diligent about wearing them but that’s no longer the case.
The outside seating area is really nice.I ordered the Classic Egg Benedict and replaced the Canadian bacon with chicken sausage. It’s highly recommended. 👍🏼I gave this restaurant 4 stars because the service was a little bit slow for a non-busy day. For example, my dish was served 40 minutes after ordering it. Also, when I asked the waiter for a box to take my food to go, it took him around 20 minutes to bring it, and then my bill was delayed also. But overall, I would recommend this restaurant.
My daughter and I visited here on our way home from Maryland. We found this place through great reviews. Not to bad of a wait for Sunday morning. The food was amazing and more than enough to fill you up. We had mozzarella sticks for appetizer, daughter had shrimp and grits and I had the eggs and hash. We will be back and we live in King George!
I had the eggs Benedict on a biscuit with their delicious home fries. The home fries I believe have Cajun seasoning on there And they were out of this world. I love my home fries and that may be my top favorites. My boyfriend for the first time tried jambalaya. And he said that was delicious as well. We did have reservations. And there is a parking lot which made parking easy. But I dont think you need a reservation I believe you could just walk in. Our food was barred out to us at a timely manner. In our waiter was very attentive. Definitely a stop we would come back to again when were in the area.
For a great outside dining experience, this is the spot. I took my girlfriend there and it was a great date. The weather was perfect which made for an even better experience. The food is very well prepared with plating in mind. The view from the terrace is not great but quite adequate for the restaurant’s location. I would definitely recommend.
My friends and I went a few days ago. It was our first and last time.We were greeted and seated promptly and that was the best part. Our waitress, after discovering 3 of us went/go to HBCUs got real comfortable. She was very sarcastic and rude. Our food took over an hour to come out. My drink was made wrong. One of the dishes had a hair in it and instead of offering to take it off the bill they just made another. A second dish didnt have all that was asked for and so food and drinks were still coming even after the check was dropped off. When we got the managers attention all he had was a sorry. When I informed him that I was going to make this review he then offered 25% off the bill. The food was decent but overall not worth a second chance. Good luck if you decide to spend your money there.
The chicken and waffles was life-changing. Is a shame so much effort and delicacy was paired with high fructose corn syrup instead of real maple. A real shame. I made it through without my blessed step but honestly, I would just go back and get it again and just bring my own. It was so good. Service was very helpful and friendly. Everyone seemed very diligent about mask use, which is very much appreciated.
Moved recently to the neighborhood, every day I see the place on my way to work, I was so excited to try it out and it was such a disappointment. Today I went in and had a terrible experience, We ordered a soup which took 20 minutes to come out of the kitchen, we ordered a seafood omelette which was not bad, but not good either, salmon Benedict which was overcooked and cold . We had to Flag down another waiter to ask about our foods when we were waiting over 30 minutes to get it [a In a normal diner eggs take 10 minutes! As if this weren’t bad enough we couldn’t find our waiter to get the check. Finally we found it I gave him my credit card and he never came back. So frustrated I got up found them at the front of the restaurant laughing and speaking with his coworkers and he didn’t even acknowledge that he had my credit card . We had to wait for him to finish the joke he was tellimg. I left him a 10% tip. Bad food, bad service, bad experience.
Delicious food and reasonable prices! Mixed reviews on the service, but the food is worth it regardless :) I would definitely get a reservation, if you are going on the weekends, as their wait times can be quite long. HIGHLY recommend!
I was looking for a good breakfast place with outdoor seating in Alexandria and found this place. I had the veggie burrito, without chorizo, and with grits. There was a side of sour cream, avocado crema and pico and everything was delicious. My nephew had steak and eggs and hash browns. They were also very good and the steak was cooked to perfection. They have nice seating on a patio outside with heaters that was the perfect answer to not eating inside during these times of covid. The service was also excellent!
This place was a beautiful little hole in the wall! Driving through Virginia theres not a whole lot to show; crumbling infrastructure, shady areas, horrid lanes- but this place was a gem! The most expensive plates on the menu were $25 and $27. They serve an all day breakfast, have mixed drinks and draft beer, and generally American dishes. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good meal and a good price!
Visited at lunchtime and the food was delicious. I must say it was a lot of food. The only complaint I had was when I got to the car I realized that I forgot my leftovers at the table. I quickly walked back to the table but the waitress told me that it was thrown away. I was surprised because it had not been 5 minutes from the time I left the table and returned.
The food was delicious. The service was great. There is outside dining. The inside is cute and cozy. The nachos were the best!
Fantastic breakfast! They clearly take pride in their ingredients and execution. Everything was high quality and delicious. Often I find diners to skimp on using quality ingredients. Not here. Fresh, delicious, satisfying. Also great service!!!
Service is horrible! Initially, we had to find a server to help us. The food was great. The portion sizes were hearty. However, there is no customer service or attentiveness. We had to literally search for and find our server after asking another server for our check. Needless to say, we got no refills because the server was MIA. Keep in mind, it’s a slow Tuesday morning. They weren’t busy. My husband made me put 3 stars because the food was good. But I wanted to put 1 star because it was like going to McDonald’s.
The establishment has the WORST customer service. No hello, Good Morning, nor will I be with you guys in a minute. The women squeezing the orange never acknowledge us. The guy, who I think is the manager, saw us, turned around, and walked away. This would have been my first time eating here. I will stick to my Favorite diner, The Waffel Shop in Alexandria.
Let’s face it, all day breakfast diner in the hood give this comfort feeling that when ever you wake up you are not late and we are here for you.Especially when can feel like you are living inside the Great Gatsby book once you enter the executive diner.Retro design, just take a look at the soft drink dispenser when you enter, you’ll know that your food is gonna be treated at the same level of detail. My to go dish: Salmon Eggs Benedict
Love this place. The food is delicious and the serve you plenty of it. The best chicken and waffles!!! I have eaten there and each thing I have tried has been deliciousI wish this place was close to me; I would never cook if it was.
Good food but service is pretty slow!
Excellent food and reasonable prices for what it is. Service was a bit slow but we werent in a hurry. Would recommend for a relaxed weekend breakfast.
You will definitely love The Executive Diner. Gets a little too crowded, but has fantastic atmosphere and service. Every thing Ive tried up until now is good. The team are super attentive and kind and theyre great at giving recommendations. Great job with this place.
Had brunch with friends on the outdoor patio. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. Very pleasant atmosphere.
Great breakfast: Prompt service, generous portions I couldnt finish, friendly waiter. Very open, tables or booths. Will definitely return!
Good diner experience. It was really not to bad, the egg on my burger unfortunately didn’t taste like much and the water had to much of a chlorine taste but normal for the area. All in all, I would revisit.
Service was excellent. We had Reuben with sweet potato fries which were awesome and crab cake plate that was delicious. Never disappointed
Amazing food! So fresh and flavorful! This place is on our restaurant rotation now!
The food is amazing! Great deals! I have never had a bad meal! The kitchen staff is AMAZING and so is the front of house! Will def be back!!!
Enjoyed both recent visits, will be back!
This was my first time here with my husband. The location was easy to find, and they have their own parking lot.We enjoyed our brunch. They have an all day breakfast menu. I got the Salmon Benedict and he got the veggie omelette. I chose to get fruits for my side and he chose potatoes. We also got french toast to share. We ate everything! The service was also amazing. I definitely recommend eating at Executive Diner!UPDATE: posted food pictures of probably my 5th visit here!
Their reservation system is defective. We called the night before and secured a 11:15am reservation. We arrived on time and waited in line for about 10 minutes while they sorted another party’s reservation that they had mishandled. When it was our turn, they could not find it by name and told us we had no reservation, when we protested they found it by phone number. We were told it was for 11 and they could not seat us. They stated they only do reservations for the top of the hour and every 30 minutes so it’s impossible for us to have made a 11:15 reservation. Would have been nice to know when we spoke on the phone the day before! Gave me the impression the management is incompetent so I’m glad we did not end up eating there.
Terrible first experience here… I know things are tough with staff shortages due to covid and my family was kind despite the horrible experience. But - we were charged the full amount for breakfast that took 90 minutes to be served (IT IS A DINER!). One entire entree was missing and we never received water or utensils. Coffees were forgotten as well. Plus an incorrect drink order. The manager never came over to apologize. The only reason this place is getting two stars is because they food was really, really good and the portions were excellent.
Im officially a fan after just one visit! We were greeted and seated right away at lunch time. The server had waters and beverages to us right away. The overall vibe is relaxed here. The kitchen staff turned our food out quickly. My Reuben came out steaming hot. My sweet potato fries not so much, but they were seasoned nicely. My lunch companion really enjoyed her grilled chicken sandwich with bacon and avocado. Sandwiches come with a choice of salad, french fries or sweet potato fries. No upcharge for your preferred choice. I plan to come back real soon.
Wow! First timer. What a fantastic place within walking distance. I actually walked here during snow showers. The food was worth it. Items ordered included one lemonade, one veggie omelette with extra cheese and a side of home fries, and a chicken fried steak meal that came with home fries and toast (two hefty pieces of steak)YUM! The home fries are actually chunks of potato. Savory and delicious. Neither meal was finished so some to take home is always nice. All that for about $33. There are so many good menu options I was torn between (such as the waffle and chicken, and the executive platter). Great service and decorative touches. Until next time :)
Good quick service. Loved their roast chicken dinner plus, large breakfast menu. Favs for breakfast are chicken and waffles and eggs bene, very good choices. Add a squeeze of lemon to the hollandaise sauce
Chicken and Waffles: the waffles were good, but the chicken was great. The orange juice is actually squeezed, not from a box.
Service was great once seated. It was a bit of a wait but it was the perfect opportunity to take a walk to build up more of an appetite. I recommend the eggs benedict with salmon and the french toast.
The restaurant is amazing and has great potential. It’s still in its soft opening and changes are still being made. I was told that there will be a new menu and they will have beer and wine later on. The wait staff is really nice and take great care of you! I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for something quick and amazing to eat in little time. I have seen some of the reviews in its opening weeks and I have to say it has greatly improved! Amazing job executive diner! Oh yeah and they also have a cafe for a quick snack.
I wanted to give this place a better review. I entered on a slow Thursday evening and was sat right away by the hostess. She gave me a menu and their specials menu. It all looked great. I had decided to get the Eggs Benedict and partake in their breakfast all day mentality. It looked great from the pictures I saw online. Unfortunately, after 10 minutes no one bothered to even come to my table to take my drink order. I walked out past 3 servers and no one even said a word. I explained to the hostess no one ever came to table and I would just take my money elsewhere. Maybe Ill try again sometime maybe at breakfast time to get the eggs benedict.
For patio dining and take- out I can highly recommend this diner. The food is excellent and staff very friendly.
We ate at the Executive Diner for the first time today -- and it will not be our last time! Food is top quality, well prepared, and beautifully presented. Service is just right -- not too much or too little. Ambiance is tasteful and welcoming. We ordered a Reuben sandwich with a side of tossed salad, sauteed spinach, and soft shell crab sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries, and French onion soup, served in a cast iron bowl to help keep the soup hot for a good long while. There were 2 of us. We ate all but the soft shell crab sandwich and ~1/4 of the sweet potato fries (got a container to take this home). Very large portions! The total came to $40 before tip. Their outside seating area is heated overhead, but with today being the low 40s, we decided to sit inside. Wonderful experience -- as they say we WILL be back!
The food is delicious! Hot and fresh. Ots of variety. On a diet? Salads are awesome! Highly recommend Southwestern. Yum! I travel here just for the fantastic variety of food. Reminds me of home - New Jersey, home of the diners. This is a high compliment.
5 stars a million times over. Clean restaurant, great service. The chicken & waffles was great, and reasonably priced.
The service is TERRIBLE here. Lousy service when a restaurant is slow and don’t expect an apology either.Whether its busy or dead - your waiter will forget about you. There is no level of food that can save bad service.
We love diners and decided to try this one out. Marcellus greeted and seated us, asking if we preferred a booth or window seat. During our time there, he was very conscience of where he sat other patrons. We were not on top of each other. He was also the waiter for all of us. Did a great job. Our burgers & fries were delicious, plentiful and served hot. You dont usually see cloth napkins at a diner! Will be back for breakfast in the near future. Note: Only disappointment was that its aPepsi place.November 14, 2019We finally made it back for a delicious breakfast. Except for the lukewarm potatoes that we brought home to refry for a dinner another night. As you can see by the pictures, theres a lot of food for the money. I really enjoyed my crispy bacon and French toast with fresh berries. Eggs were served hot. Not your average diner for sure! Still disappointed about the Pepsi products.
Awesome Brunch spot. Especially the French Toast. But be prepared to wait once youre seated. As sometimes the wait staff get confused over whose covering what.
Food was decent and quick. Service was overall not great. Been waiting for about 15 mins for just a refill on my water. After telling the waitress I needed a drink with my meal.
The diner offers good food and a good experience from the wait staff. The prices are about average for the area.I’ve been here twice with my wife and got the farmers omelette both times. There was about a 15 minute wait both times when we came at 11 am. I ordered a chocolate milk (which is just stirred chocolate syrup) and the lemonade tea which was quite good! The omelette was pretty average. I would compare it to an IHOP omelette, just more expensive and better than average ingredients. If you want to go to a local diner and spend extra money, then I would recommend this place! Otherwise, if you’re just looking for a quick bite to eat with the same quality of food, go elsewhere.I gave this 4 stars because my wife really enjoyed the Executive Platter and insisted that I should at least give it 4 stars because of this meal...so maybe try that!
The 3 stars is mixed from two different visits. The first time I came, the food was 10/10. I just got off a night shift & my friend just woke up. It was the best place for her to have breakfast and me to have dinner. The drinks were on point. The food, so good I wanted it again after another night shift! So another time, I called my order in, post night shift, (the same meal I ordered previously when I dinned in) for pick up. It was awful. The meal was not well prepared & the sauce was barely drizzled on. I was beyond disappointed because I was looking forward to it so badly. I just don’t understand why the food quality differed so vastly from two different experiences. Hence the 3 stars because the first visit was a 5/5 & the second was a 1/5 😞 I’ll definitely give it another try but I’m hoping the food quality will be amazing no matter what time I order.
Everything was great.Need more parking spaces. This was my second time we will be back.
Staff and service was great. Food was very bland all round.
Never answer the phone for orders. They actually just answered to keep the phone from ringing and kept it on speaker so I could hear the staff talking. Was really fun
Fresh and hot pure Mexican food!! Good portions in each order(not just mine, I was looking arround), great service, clean place, pleasant employees. If you are on vacation near this area you must stop here!
Exceptional service!! Well worth the tip we left.
Boy I wish I had taken pictures of what we ordered! Had the breakfast burrito and not only was it delicious but A LOT of food. Couldnt finish the whole thing. And it came with grits and a biscuit (my choice of sides). Diner food at its best. My daughter had the biscuits and gravy. Usually this is just two biscuits with a topping of gravy. Not here. Chopped biscuits smothered in gravy and the finished as a casserole. Just delicious! Great outside area and inside patrons are spaced at every other table. I dont get to Alexandria often Ill make sure this is one of our stops.
I love this place. Great food and great service. They give you your money worth. You can always take a leftover home for later.
Great food, great price, great Service, great location. We keep coming back
Attentive staff, great food. Excellent experience every time Ive been. Will definitely be back!
$45 for 3. EXCELLENT meal!! Great staff and please try the lemonade/orange juice.
I was looking for a chicken sandwich and the pictures I saw from other posters had me convinced that this was the place to go! Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed with my sandwich. The flavor was great, but I was wanting a meaty and hearty sandwich. The meat to bun ratio was less than 1/4 when taking into account the breading from the coating. Id love It if the ratio was 50/50. I rather get Chick-fil-A sandwich. Id go back to try the other items on the menu. My gf got the salmon omelet and it was delicious!
The food is very good especially the appetizers. Service was extremely slow once we got seated. Good sized parking lot next to it as well so parking is super easy.
Excellent service and good diner food. The crab dip is a must have. We also ordered the shrimp and grits and a bunless burger, my burger was overdone but it was tasty.
Came here for breakfast with Friends, we had to wait about 30 mins they were busy, but once we ordered the food came out at a decent time. The food was good, i would recommend
From a conversation I had with the owner recently. I found out that he allows smoking in doors and does not require his cooks to wash their hands. Do not eat here if you value your safety.
Food was good. Service was prompt and pleasant. Expect to wait on a Saturday.
Not very busy. Very slow. But the food is pretty decent.
Weve been meaning to stop in here for a long time. It was a pleasant surprise. Somewhat upscale as diners go, with large portions to go with the not-cheap prices. Meatloaf was terrific, as was the special jambalaya!
My wife and I have been to this diner before and once again it never disappoints. I decided to try the spinach artichoke dip and it was phenomenal. All of their dishes are amazing and if you want a nice, quaint place for an outing this is the place to go.
This diner was one of the best I’ve had. The food was excellent from start to finish. The price was good as well and the service was an A+. If you’re looking for a great meal this is the place to be.
I think our waiter was new, it took some reminding to get what we requested. The food was superb, and the fried chicken had some awesome breading on it. Great place to take the family and great food for the price. I would definitely recommend it.
I failed to find meaning in 24 years of life....until I found the executive diner. My waiter was an absolute HUNK. Dude was a straight up snack. Scrumptious. I would give my gallbladder to see his luscious hair swaying as he delivers me a mimosa just one more time. Cover my naked body in Caesar salad and tell me I’m a cute little crouton. Good diner.
My wife and I visited this diner and was greeted and directed to our seats outside. It was still fairly early in the morning, so the diner wasnt very busy; there was one other couple that was seated outdoors and they had already been served. After looking at the menu for about 10 minutes, we were waiting for the initial encounter with our server. During this time, there were two couples and a single seated. The first server came down and I thought was going to come to our table but veered off to the table with the couple seated after us and took their order. The second server came down and was heading in our direction but stopped and took the order of the single that literally just sat down. We waited another 5 minutes before deciding to leave. We will never come back!
What a diner, having executive in the name is certainly fitting. I was wowed by the service and presentation of every dish. When I go to a diner, I typically order country fried steak, and this was the best I’d ever had. Couldn’t recommend this place more, for breakfast or anytime during the day!!!! The diner also has a bar in the back for drinks, which is awesome for brunches or an evening drink!!
Nah the food didnt live up to the NAME... I thot executive diner they probably got some really good food the pics... were deceiving...
Service very slow. We were seated and no one came our order. Food was Ok
