I was able to find and walk out with 2 pairs of running shoes for my kids staying under $40 and using a $5 coupon. No need to break the bank and spend $58 for kids shoes when Big 5 has a great selection and multiple items on sale. As a mother of 4 I appreciate this. We will be back for our school shoes. Dont overlook this place.

Terrible selection. Out of stock on important items. Blonde lady at register has an attitude problem and superiority complex. Like relax, you work at big5 for minimum wage, and take your job way too seriously.

What an excellent store! I had no idea the store existed, if I did I would have been shopping here for all my Sporting Goods needs. You can find everything you need here in terms of sporting goods and the price is excellent. You will not find a store that gives you better value for your money, I have no idea how they do it. I will be back here for sure!

Not the easiest place to get to but fine once there

Firstly, the fact that some of their staff in this store are not wearing a mask during the pandemic is unacceptable and dangerous. CA can shut a store down over this. Secondly their weights department is so poorly stocked, after four visits to this Big Five Store I have given up on this brand . All their racks are empty and this is not once but four times over 5 weeks. Then you address a manager (who is not wearing a mask) and he seems so not interested in your inquiry. You can feel he is there to collect his hourly and thats it. Very disappointed and see no reason to return to Big Five Stores again. Surely some sports outlets still believe in good customer service?

Normally, Big 5 is awesome to purchase ammo, but suddenly Thousand Oaks store decided they dont accept LADWP for verification of address. I proved it by calling the corporate offic, but the manager disappeared when I returned.

I come here for my work shoes and sometimes for camping or emergency gear. The employees are always very helpful in helping me find what Im looking for or in helping me find the correct size shoe. They have great prices and a wide variety of sporting equipment. They carry all the basics but when Im looking for something really specific I usually have to go somewhere else. Even so, Ive been pleasantly surprised to find something unusual that I was looking for on the shelves on occasion.

The sales clerk Laura or whatever her name was has no knowledge of customer service. Also the manager, Andrew had a big attitude. Seems like they were never taught the customer is always right. I tired to exchange couple items and tried to apply a coupon. They made this such a hassle. I just wanted to apply my coupon and head on my way. Seems like many people have complained. Store had what we needed. Things were a tad bit pricey and it was a little hard to find what we were looking for. Employees were polite and willing to help us find what we were looking for. The store was not very busy when we visited. Store is well-signed and easy to find.

They have great deals, we checked here and Dicks Sporting Goods. We bought socks, hiking boots, and backpacks with water bladders (Camelback like system) for $60.The service was also great! They helped us pick things and always had a smile!

Mildly overpriced and limited selection. It fills a niche in the outdoor market. Its closer than other shops with more selection so I end up checking in here about half the time I need something for camping or sports.

I usually go here to buy athletic shoes. I find they have a good selection and i usually find something that will fit me. Especially for larger feet like mine.

My husband was in there this evening to buy a BB gun. The sales clerk was extremely nervous, but after meeting Andrew his manager I couldn’t see why. I don’t know how anyone could work under a person like his manager Andrew. Andrew is a complete jerk. We will be bringing our purchase back and never shop there again. Andrew should never be allowed to work with the public. He was disrespectful and condescending.

Now that sport chalet and sports authority are closed this is the only place in TO to get sporting goods and even though its a smaller store, they had everything I needed for my last camping trip. I tried to sign up for their rewards program to get 15% off but it wasnt working so the manager gave me the discount anyway. Great customer service here.

Younger dark haired male staff preferred to talk about themselves at the register, totally ignoring 3 people needing help finding shoes. The guy began helping me but soon left without saying anything. Finally saw him at register gossiping.

Absolute disaster. Manager left for break in the middle of a transaction, leaving the untrained associates unable to make a return, causing customers to back up and some leave. Store was dirty, unkempt and associates had no knowledge of products or even how to turn on equipment. Not sure how they are still in business.

Conveniently located sporting goods store just off of the 101 and Moorpark road. It is good to be able to walk in and actually touch what you are going to purchase before you buy. With online ordering taking over the market, this is a welcome option for those that like to use old school methods.

Excellent selection of shoes at reasonable prices. I get steel toe boots here for $35! Packed with great camping and sports equipment. They also sell Dickies carpenter pants which are hard to find.

We got what we needed, so I was happy with that. Seemed like the person working in the shoe department needed some help because of the volume of customers, do it took alittle longer than expected, but still not too bad.

This place looks run down on the inside, has unpleasant managers, and overpriced items. To begin this story I received a $100 drone for Christmas that I wanted to return, alright should be no problem. So I go in some Friday or Saturday night around 8 P.M. and nobody was in the store except for the manager and a cashier. I walk up to the cashier and ask if i could return this, which the manager buts in from behind me and says Why is there something wrong with it?. I replied that there wasnt that its unopened still with the price tags, and I wanted to get something different. At this point the cashier just gave up because the manager came around and took control of the register. In which he also told me that If you dont have the receipt I can only give you $69.99 because thats what it was on sale for at one time, (But not right now). I said well it still has its $100 price tag and stickers and said Big 5 on it. He then told me thats not how it works and I was wasting his time because I didnt have a receipt. However I decided that I would take the $69.99 because I wasnt going to get a receipt. He wasnt to happy but took my ID and gave me the credit in a gift card, to which I asked where the paintball guns where and he just pointed at a wall across from the register. He walked over with me and asked for my ID, again, which was still at the register, he never gave it back. So I asked to see 2 separate guns, which he grudging opened the cabinet with a Fine comment. Then When asked about the prices and quality of the guns, all he said was The one in the box is more expensive but comes with a mask and uhhhh.... basically everything thats pictured. (Which would be a gun, mask, and a tank). I asked him if he would price scan them because he was playing with a scanner and he just said No. Finally me being pretty fed up with him took the cheaper gun to the cashier, which she rang up, I payed for and left the store, with my cousin who was with me the entire time and also remarked how unhelpful and rude the manager was. After first use most the guns screws came loose or fell out, making me jerryrig it back together as I would rather do that then deal with the manager again. Also the said gun I purchased was on Amazon for $40 when Big 5 charged me $74. All in all, if you read my long story or just skipped to the end, save your time and money, avoid the exceptionally rude manager and go Dicks which is right down the road.

First time buying a shotgun here and the manager was very professional. His name was Jacob or Jake lol The process was smooth and fast. I walked out of there feeling great.

The Thousand Oaks store had sold out of the item I wanted after looking everywhere for it. Then they called the Simi Valley store. They still had a few and put one aside for, that I picked up later that day.

Nice shoes but if there out of stock in your size theres no way to get a pair for like 2 weeks wish they had delivery to house or an online shop

Selection is usually pretty good for all sports but can be limited in the off season. Prices are cheaper than other sporting goods stores.
