Amazing! As soon as i stepped foot in there i was a teenager again! I wish todays kids would still go crazy over their Bmx. Being a 90s kid, everybody knows Bmx was gods gift to earth for a 12year old.I called around several bike shops in town and a couple of them had a Bmx bikes in stock.Derby Cycle has everything you need no matter what type or style you ride.In my case i picked up my childhood dream Bmx i never had, and Derby had in in stock at a great price.Bill the owner was very helpful and knows his bikes. If you need a bike, and want a nice full inventory to pick from, Derby is the place to be at.
My new biking HQ! Bill, Abe and Gill are amazing people and their customer service, knowledge, friendliness and professionalism has earned them the 5 stars, if I could give them more, oh I would. After being at all the local bike shops exploring new products and knowledge I always felt pressured into buying whatever the sales guys can sell, but these guys here that have earned my trust in all my biking needs. Sharing knowledge, tips, tricks and new tech put out by our favorite brands! Thank you Derby Bike Team!
Ive had nothing but great experiences at Derby Bicycle Center. The repair staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and sometimes can solve your issue right on the spot if possible. Im glad to have such a talented team of professionals close by to keep me up and running, because I cant go more than a few days without my bicycle. Thank you to everyone at Derby Bicycle Center! You are all awesome!
Great buying experience, great service, friendly staff. Recommend doing your own research before trying to buy anywhere. Owner provided all the information I needed to make a simple and informed decision. Had some service done at the same time and they gave me a pro tip on rim taping. Also fun atmosphere in the shop and lots a of accessories!! Thanks for the smooth and easy buying experience and good luck going into your 50th year of business.
The owner/manager we spoke with is not customer friendly. Was looking at a $399 bike (could not take it for a ride in parking lot)., He was grumpy and short with us. Found another bike shop in Broomfield, great service and got a bike for $175. Go somewhere you will be treated with respect and spend your money there.
Always treat me and my family like were an obligation and patronize us for not knowing exactly what were doing. Every product or service, from pedal replacement to tire purchases, has been defective or careless. I hate to write a review like this, but theres a difference between having a bad day and poor customer service. I wont ever return to Derby and suggest others do the same so they dont waste their time like we have.
Huge thank you to the team at Derby Bicycle Center for a wonderful job tuning up my Jamis gravel bike. Feels like a brand new bike. Quality work.
I stopped by the shop today with a bicycle in need of a brake repair, or so I thought. Turns out the brake line had just slipped out of place. Rather than book an appointment, wait a week, and charge me for a full brake service, the mechanic took 90 seconds to fix my rear brake and sent my on my way. It is so refreshing to find an honest, helpful, (and sympathetic) bike repair shop! Youve earned my future business. Thanks very much for your help!!!
I would give them zero stars if I have that option. The worst customer service Ive ever seen in my life. The person who I talked to today was very mean. They dont tell you about their no-return policy before you buy. They list that on the receipt, so you discover that after you are stuck with their product. I called before I went to store, they said you can return for a store credit, then at the store that mean person refused even to give me a store credit. In addition, their prices are very expensive. It was my first time to buy from them and it is for sure the last time.
Worked with the owner Bill to pick up a couple bikes for my wife and I. Excellent experience. Chatted with the owner quite a bit. Super nice guy. Bike tech was phenomenal as well. Tons of parts and accessories available. Definitely would return.
Great selection of hard to find bikes and gear. Bill, the owner, is knowledgeable, direct and honest--just the way I like it. Hell make sure you leave with everything you need and educate you if needed. 10/10 would recommend.(added after reading other reviews)Im noticing a lot of negative reviews about arrogance and negativity from the staff/owner and I couldnt disagree more. I found the owners directness refreshing and trustworthy. I wish a lot more ppl in CO were like this. And I can only imagine how these negative reviewers approached the staff/owner--Im sure they were just a delight to deal with (...not). If youve spent one day in a customer-facing role you know how to read between the lines.Keep up the good work, Bill!
Went in on Thursday 7/29/21 the employee have POOR customer service skills they seem as though its a bother to help Never take my business there
Rip off, incompetent, covid pit. I bought an expensive (even for shop quality) kid’s bike here fall of 2019, and felt it was justified because the owner sold me hard on the kids trade-in program. Went in a few weeks ago to trade-in and the owner told me they can’t do trade-ins because of covid - and that they were under orders from Tri-county health. Complete lie. And he and his staff are in there unmasked, and taking in repairs. Seems a bit disingenuous. Scumbag.Furthermore… and more importantly…. The seat post in the bike I had bought wasn’t greased when the bike was assembled. This is a HUGE rookie mistake that causes the post to seize in the frame. Although a seized post would also be a reason not to honor the trade-in program, right? And one of the pedals came out of the crank after a few miles of riding. Dangerous. And those threads weren’t greased either. Again, pedals seize to the crank. So if you want to give your money to an incompetent, negligent, bait and switch windbag, this is your shop.Highly recommend REI, and Wheatridge Cyclery.
The folks are very friendly and helpful with all of your bicycle needs.
Great selection. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I felt like the prices were realistic and the quality great! Bought a bike and so far Im loving it!!!
Awesome shop with knowledgable and helpful crew. Havent owned a bike in years and the guys here were extremely helpful in directing us to what we need and getting us set up. Just took our new bikes for a short but sweet 8 mile ride and they feel fantastic. Couldnt tell you why they only have 3.5 stars because we went to multiple shops today and derby had far greater selection and far greater quality of staff... killin it guys! we’ll be back 👍🏻
After being out of the bike game for nearly 10 years I stopped in to possibly see on getting my old mountain bike serviced or possibly purchase a new one. The older guy standing in the store acted as if I was interrupting him standing there and wasn’t very sociable when I was told theyre 10 weeks out for service and they don’t even work on cannondale’s. I started to look at new bikes as I am in the market for a new one and when I asked the same guy some of the differences his response was “different components” again as if I was interrupting him standing around. He was very sociable to the lady that bought a bike but guess I will take my 10k limit to yeti to look for a new bike. Awful customer service!
Derby. Is. Expensive. There is no doubt about that. Everyone who knows them knows this. They are very proud and they mark up everything accordingly. If you have a problem with that, then go somewhere else. Where they really lack is customer service. One guy, in that whole shop is polite. One. Everyone else is inconvenienced by questions. 2 years ago I spent a little over 22000 buying all new bikes for my family. It wasnt until I had picked out bike 1 and had it set aside that they became a little more polite.Gentlemen, it should never have to come to a purchase to give good customer service.I bought my sons bike in for a tune up. $119 youll get it back on thursday. No call. Probably swamped. Friday, I call, and I get we are working on it, and then a hang up. I need this for my kids mtn bike camp starting today. Prior to bringing it there I called and the said not a problem. You will have it back in plenty of time. I called yesterday, end of day, giving them as much time as possible. Still. Wasnt. Done. Look at my bill and Im charged an additional 10 dollars for lube. Really as if your tune wasnt high enough and late, you charge another 10 dollars for 2.5 drops of lube. Sadly, you will not go out business because youre the only one around t hu is neck of the woods. You really should up your game in the customer service department. You and the business are quite pathetic at that
The only reason I did not do a 5 is because I have not had a chance to test the 3 bikes I brought back; I have to wait until my kids get back from Spring break, so based upon how the bikes handle when riding, this review may change. As for my experience in pick up and drop off, the crew was very nice and honest about the condition of 2 of the bikes I ended up donating, and they were informative and patient in helping me find what I needed.
Great service and great bikes all sorts of them recommended this place for a new bike
I had an amazing experience! the bike i purchased is amazing and i have not had and major problems with it. also i came here to get tools to fix a bike and Abe who helped me was so nice and made sure i had everything i needed and gave me so many tips as well. i would definitely recommend coming here!
I was quoted a week to have a bit of work done on my bike... they called me the next day saying it was ready. Shop is a bit cramped inside as it is jam packed full of bikes and bike-related stuff but I am satisfied with the service I received.
Destroyed my mountain bike wheel. Stopped in at 6:30pm before close. They replaced my wheel swapped over tires and got the tubeless set up sealed. These guys are absolute Rockstars here at Derby!
My girlfriend brought my bike to this location recently simply to have the inner tubes replaced. It was just before closing time on a weekday. She was told by a gentleman with a reddish beard that they only take repairs in the mornings on days they are open, and they are limited to 15 repairs per day. He also told her they are open Monday through Saturday. No problems up to that point. My girlfriend returned early Saturday morning to be in front of the line. The same gentleman then told her that they don’t take repairs on Saturdays. Finally, I was available to take the bike in myself this morning on a Monday. It turns out they are closed on Mondays for the time being. There is no excuse for the lack of proper communication from whoever this employee is, and if it is the owner he needs customer service training. He also doesn’t need to reply to legitimate complaints with arrogance. I leave positive reviews for businesses when appropriate, but this has been a completely negative experience. We gave this location three opportunities to obtain our business, and now it is time to move on.
Great local bike shop. I bought a bike at Derby, the first in 10 years, and am extremely happy with the service and bike I received. They seem to be pretty busy, but still are able to help out. Just have to be a bit patient. I also needed to get repairs done on my daughters bike, which they were unable to do that day. Completely understandable. The staff is very knowledgeable. I will keep buying from them.
Supports BMX Racing! Has tubes for 20 x 1-1/8 for 451mm rims! Thank you!
Weekend saver. I showed up on a Friday afternoon with a small repair and the got me in right away.
Great inventory and very helpful owner and repair staff. Been going to buy and service along time. Service best in North Denver metro!
I went in yesterday trying to fix my bike and Abe was extremely helpful! He was very knowledgeable and showed me exactly what I needed in less than five minutes. I will definitely be returning for other repairs.
Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. Had an extremely positive experience buying a bike this morning. Friendly greeting at the door and a knowledgeable sales associate pointed me in the right direction. I bought a great hybrid bike, had a friendly conversation while I was paying my bill, and the owner actually came out to the parking lot to help me load my bike into the trunk of my car. Thanks for the help, guys!
Took my bike in for a tune-up. I was told it would be a week. After hearing some places were 30 days out, I was excited to hear I would be back on my bike in a week. I am sad that so many people are leaving bad reviews during these times. These guys are so busy! And truly, as bike owners, shame on us for waiting until the busiest time of the year and expecting miracles. I would truly recommend these guys and thank you, Derby and staff! I think you are doing an awesome job!!
After an accident on my bike destroyed my wheel, I was in search of a new wheel. After calling Derby I was told they had a couple of the wheels I was in search for in stock, however, soon after driving 45 minutes to pick up said wheel I was told there were none in stock and I would have to return tomorrow to pick it up. This being said, I am fairly new into biking and after providing all the knowledge I had on the wheel and asking to double and triple check that it was correct (which was met with a quick “yes” and zero effort) they told me to come back tomorrow and pick it up. The next day in order to be absolutely positive I would receive the correct wheel I brought in my old wheel in hopes that they could quickly verify that it in fact was the same wheel. After asking to make sure it was the right wheel I was once again told it “was” without them even looking at my old one to make sure. Come to find out after I took it to my reliable bike shop, which I would definitely recommend over Derby, I was told it was in fact not the correct wheel and I would need to make adjustments to the wheel and it would cost me an extra $20 on top of the cost of the wheel I had bought. Overall not the best experience. I understand my lack of confidence in the field may have had an impact but I was very certain to ask for them to ask them to double check.
Excellent customer service. Couldn’t be happier.
I came here a few weeks ago looking for a new pair of riding pants. The other shops Ive been to this summer have little to no selection of gear or bikes to choose from so I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and saw literally hundreds of bikes....I was actually taken back at the huge selection. I knew I found the right place! One of the employees helped me find exactly what I was looking for. I recommend checking this place out. When Im ready for a new MTB Im getting it here.
Awesome shop and owner. I was in a bind and Derby Bicycle Center went the extra mile to get me taking care of. Thank you!
I recently purchased a bike and have nothing good to say about any of my interactions with the staff or the bike. Initially I went in and tried to get some help finding a bike that would work for what I wanted to do, basic downhill and mountain riding. The employee just kind of showed me the bikes they had in stock, not noting which ones would perform better or what the differences between them were. I ended up choosing a specialized rockhopper 29. After less than a week, my chain broke so I went in for another. I brought the chain with me as I wasnt sure if it was possible to be fixed or if I needed a new chain. Without explaining a whole lot about why, they recommended a chain with a master link. I was on my way the next morning when that chain ended up snapping as well. The staff may be knowledgeable but it doesnt seem like they care enough to take the time and actually get you something that youll be happy with, just something that will get you in and out of the store as fast as possible. Would not recommend Derby.Edit: I have since returned to get equipment that for some reason, Derby is the only place that has it within like 2 hours and was pleasantly surprised with the change in attitude of some of the employees. It seems you just have to get the proper person from the store.
This shop is amazing! Abe went above and beyond to fix my bike quickly while I was visiting from out of town and at an amazing price. I’m using this shop every time I’m back in Denver.
Great Service. Promises kept.
This place is rough and expensive and the owner can be blunt. I give this place five stars because they answer all questions and help when they can. They’re busy so show up with an idea of what you want and they will get you what they have. I got a Specialized Roll sport an amazing first adult bicycle a bicycle they pointed me at I can’t wait till I get a new bike and go back.
Great place. Evan will be getting new awesome scooter for Christmas!!
WHY DONT YOU SELL YOUR BUSINESS OR STAY IN YOUR OFFICE OR HOME WHERE CUSTOMERS DONT BUG YOU????I went in to find a gift bike for my wife. Im a salesman so I know a little bit about customer satisfaction. Owner was rude, not very interested in helping me, just pointing me to areas of interest. I asked about a comfortable saddle and he responded they are on the wall on the left than to my next question how do I know which one is comfortable he responded they are squishy. That was my ticket out and I will not spend a penny out there.Today I took my wife to GOLDEN BEAR BIKE and my wife and I absolutely loved the stuff there and walked out with a nice bike.
Very good bike shop
Just bought my second bike from Derby. After 8 years of perfect performance from my first Specialized bike from Derby, I decided it was time to add a second, newer one. Derby staff was more than patient while I looked at several bikes, and they answered all my questions, making suggestions that were within my budget and explaining the differences in various accessories. There was a problem the day after I brought it home, in that one of the upgraded tubes I had them install, failed, and the tire would not hold air. I contacted Derby and they had me bring it in right away, and took care of it immediately, apologizing for the trouble. EVERY company can make mistakes, but it is how a company handles them that demonstrates true customer service. When the time comes, I will return to Derby for my 3rd bike, and meanwhile recommend them to anyone shopping for a bicycle.
Went in and asked the salesman where their parts department was, he simply pointed the general direction, asked him how his day was going just another day, is what it is, immediately left after that. Hate your job! quit it than. This is why online is becoming the end all for small businesses
Aesthetically pleasing and a classic feel. However, the costumer service is horrible to say the least. I’m not one to leave a review and I normally just brush things off. However, I’ve really been left with a bad taste in my mouth about this establishment when honestly it’s something that could be an easy fix. Interactions I’ve had have always been met with what either, what seems to be, a disdain for the job or a superiority complex. This is very off putting and seeing replies to customer complaints doesn’t really surprise me. I understand that there is a bikepocolypse going on right now but it’s going on everywhere and other shops I’ve been to are excelling in customer service where their supplies and timely services are lapsing.I’ve bought two bikes this summer spending about $4000 which included alterations to customize them the way I wanted. My current shop is about 40 mins away and has excellent service. I’m willing to make that drive and spend a little more on what sometimes I think to be slightly overpriced just because of the interactions alone.I only write this because I think that these poor reviews could all be fixed with just some honest reflection and further training in customer service.
READ THIS IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PROPER REVIEW. If youre looking for a bike, or want to find something unique, or want great service on your bike and can understand the nature of a bicycle service center, then this place will be great! If you are expecting something for free, or a incredibly cheap (ala think you shouldnt pay for a tube change), if you think youre more important than all their other customers and deserve special treatment, this place IS NOT for you (based on many of the 1 star reviews here). In looking for a fun cruiser, I found Derby Bicycle Center online, but the reviews turned me off a bit. However, upon reading all the negative reviews, most based on really dumb stuff, I went in anyway. And Im glad I did. The team there was awesome, I found a bike that fit my needs, they were quick in getting my bike checked out, and out the door with a smile. I can say with certainty that they use every square inch of space in that shop. Ive never seen that many bikes in one place, but thats good, since I could see a huge selection without driving all over town. And to boot, the bike I bought was under the least expensive place I found online, so clearly not trying to scam me, nor anyone else I saw there that day. I saw the shop giving sound, reasonable advice to multiple persons (a mother looking for a street bike to ride with her kids, another guy looking for a carbon fiber road bike, etc).Again, its a great shop, but understand they are not there to work for free. Some of the 1 star reviews were given because they wouldnt change a tire for free, or because the customer put a hole in their own tube and wanted an exchange? Really? Another because they couldnt get service done immediately. That is just not how any bike shop or business works AND stays in business.Give them a shot. If youre claustrophobic, then I can say this place is not for you. But if you want to brows a huge selection of bikes, scooters, parts, accessories, etc, then give them a shot. I will come back when I need another bike, and see if they have what I need!
Great place, good staff, great bike selection, tons and tons of parts and such a good vibe
I recommend not going to this place if you have another option. They are very rude and in a rush to get you out the door. Don’t spend your hard earned money here, they don’t respect it. I suggest golden bear bikes in broomfield, way better staff and super friendly!
This place is so unprofessional! Employees didn’t care at all about customer service. There are so many other places to visit that will sympathize with you on how inventory is short and put you on a waiting/follow-up list. Recommend going elsewhere. ALSO, Stay Safe
I bought a bike here back in April: Specialized was having a Spring rebate on the specific bike I wanted, which was the reason I bought it since it made the price more reasonable for my budget. Once I put in my info with Specialized to get my rebate, I was told the serial number of my bike didnt exist in their system. After months of fighting with Specialized trying to prove bikes S/N as well as repeatedly working with Derby to get it put in the system, no one will help me anymore and the S/N is still not in their system. Still havent gotten rebate to this day.Derby is selling bikes with S/Ns that dont exist. I would not recommend buying from this seller. They didnt even try to make it right with me after all this.EDIT to response from owner: I never said the bikes DO NOT have a S/N. I said your establishment is selling bikes whose S/Ns are not IN Specializeds system. Moreover, it doesnt matter that its Specializeds fault and not yours. Its your responsibility to double check your inventory and ensure that the bikes you receive are in their system since you are selling them to customers. Customers are unable to get rebates or register their bikes because of this. How is this something you would just brush off?Update: I appreciate the rebate check, thanks Derby.
My family has given our business to Derby for over a decade. Personally, I have bought 3 bikes from them, as well as many parts/upgrades and I am always pleased with their knowledge and customer service. My most recent purchase was a Specialized Enduro (purchased a few weeks ago) and I am extremely satisfied with the bike. When I go in, the owner, Bill, is always quick to help me find what I need and he knows his inventory extremely well (right off the top of his head). Additionally, Abe is very knowledgeable and I am always pleased with the high-quality work he performs on my bikes. The COVID-19 pandemic has created many complications, but I am extremely grateful that the store has remained open and is still serving customers!
Ordered a bike online and could not be happier. Had a great experience and I am so glad they are open and had this bike in stock. This thing is awesome! Thanks a lot Bill and the rest of the staff at Derby Bicycle. You guys rock!
Couldnt be more excited to not do business with a company again. I recently purchased a new bike and over the past 3-4 months have had nothing but poor experiences with Derby. The day I bought the bike I took it for a test ride, just a quick 7 mile ride and in the meantime my front and rear reflectors both fell off while I was out. No big deal there, was planning to remove them anyways so thanks for the poor assembly. The bike also had an issue when it was in the big ring where it would constantly click with each pedal rotation. This was negligible and I figured I would have it fixed during my first service. By about mile 250 on the bike the rear derailleur would skip the middle gear whether I was shifting down or up into it. Figured it was time to take it in. The day I brought it in the employee receiving the bikes asked what was going on. I began to explain the first issue and didnt even finish before he just walked away with the bike while I was talking and when he came back said that someone was working on it. A couple minutes later a tech brought the bike out and stated The issue is fixed, test ride it before you leave, bye! which caught me quite off guard. I rode it, confirmed they had fixed one issue. However, now my bike wouldnt shift into the big ring at all. I got back in line and again told the first tech of the new issue and then walked him through the 3 or 4 other items that needed to be addressed. He just stared blankly at the ground and didnt write a single thing down, the first time I saw his pen move was to write down my name and number. Fortunately they were quick to get the bike through service and I picked it up a couple days later. I had been so frustrated with their service that I didnt even bother test riding it, just put it in the truck and left. I took it for a ride when I got home and guess what, it still wouldnt shift into the big ring. Quite obvious that no one even bothered running it through the gears during service nor paid a single bit of attention to what issues I stated I had. Seems like all they did was clean it and grease the chain, real big brain stuff. I did a barrel adjustment on it to get it functional while I waited for my service appointment with a local shop I had discovered in the meantime. Took it for a ride yesterday and about halfway through the shifter cable sheared off the derailleur from what looked like the shop cinching the bolt down so hard it cut the cable. Had to ride home about 13 miles in my smallest gear, super fun! I have given up all hope for this place, from completely arrogant customer service, dismissive attitudes and lack of care, knowing that their techs are so incompetent they cut my shifter cable makes me never want to do business here again. In hind sight I was extremely lucky they hadnt sheered off my brake cable prior to descending down lookout mtn. I would strongly recommend anyone reading this to steer clear and spend your money with companies that actually care. Check out Peak Cycles in Golden or Wheat Ridge Cyclery and save yourself the brain damage from Derby.
I walked into the store to buy two bikes. I was looking to spend around $2000 to $3000. I had a few bikes in mind. A employee approached me and asked if they could help me. I was inquiring about the bikes I was considering buying. Every time I would bring up a bike he would cut me off rudely. He would say Not available on back order. Another bike he said in the box and you can’t look at it. I get these guys are busy. That’s no reason for them to be total D bags. I am definitely taking my money somewhere else.
Fast Friendly Excellent Service
They are practicing COVID-19 Practices and requiring Masks and Social Distancing. From the time I arrived it took less than a minute to be addressed and about 3 minutes to be helped. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes getting just what I needed. They were actually busy in the repair shop while everyone was kept separated inside. Its obviously a safe as possible place to do business.
Every time we come to Derby Bicycle we leave with a great experience. My wife and I take our bikes here regularly because the service is great. Abe is highly knowledgeable when it comes to routine and specialized bike maintenance and the owner genuinely cares about the customers. One time we went in to get a couple spare tires and left with two new Specialized mountain bikes! The owner had such a great deal going on we simply couldnt refuse. I highly recommend this small business over any corporate chain because everyone at Derby Bicycle truly values you and your business.
Thanks for my green 27.5 rockhopper expert, very good service
Bill Always has what you need. Very knowledgeable! been going to him since I was a kid!
Contacted this place back in June about buying a specialized Diverge X1listed on their website. The owner informed me that he had it in stock and that I could come and that I could pay over the phone and then come get it next week. I asked if he did refunds just in case he bike wasn’t as expected. The owner informed me that he didn’t do refunds because it “resulted in too many problems for him in people wanting to always return bikes.” Should have known right there not to buy this bike. Show up and get the bike, and the cables were frayed and had no caps on them, the owner told me “oh they must have fell off” and replaced them quickly. I left and over the following days, the shifting was not tuned at all, and took it to a bike shop to get it tuned. Since then I’ve been back to the shop multiple times for tuning only to find out the cables inside the frame we’re frayed, the derailleur hanger was bent, two of the cassette rIng teeth were bent on the low gear, and the bottom bracket isn’t greased resulting in crazy cracking and squeezing. I’ve had nothing but problems with this bike, and wish I would have followed my guy. Would not buy a bike from here again!
I knew exactly what I was looking for, and in an attempt to be helpful, the mechanics eye I happened to catch (I have no idea why they dont have sales people) made an effort to locate the tire I wanted. And then proceeded to try and talk me out of what I wanted, even after I specifically stated I was restoring and needed THAT specific tire, because they didnt have it. I just cant stand when people dont listen to their customers. Aside from that, the place is severely over stocked with overpriced accessories, its dark, and very claustrophobic. Id rather drive to my favorite charity parts shops and buy what I cant find there online. I was not impressed and Id never buy or service anything there. Plenty of friendly bikes shops to choose from around and this is not one of them.EDIT: Just read the responses from to reviews from the owner. Customer service is a foreign concept. And yes, reviews are OPINIONS, and mine was that your store sucked.
Was going to take my bike here for repairs but after reading the reviews and even worse the RESPONSES FROM THE OWNER is all I needed to drive a bit further out and do business elsewhere. Shame on this establishment for treating and talking to people like that. Pathetic.
Told me no test rides. though I saw people test riding a few days after I left. Im not spending 2k plus and not test riding
This bike shop is not very friendly when you enter . For example when they ask you what your doing browsing casually like your not supposed to be hear go leave not very welcoming . The good that I can say about this place is the the mechanic Abe was super helpful . The last time I went I got a really good deal on a Thomson elite Seatpost for 80 bucks new I was very happy with that buy . In conclusion this place is very unwelcoming . The two stars was for those two good reasons that I have experienced.
Me and my friend called in today to ask about possibly renting some bikes. We were greeted by some of the worst customer service via phone I’ve ever been exposed to. I understand that this is a trying time for everyone, but the attitude we received was incredibly poor. Will never do business here.
I tried really hard to like this place. Just moved in across the street so was really excited to have a bike shop so close and just so happen to be in the market for a new bike. I visited half a dozen times at different hours and days and was disappointed every time. Customer service was severely lacking during all my visits, they werent really interested in helping me with anything, even when there was only a few customers in there! In fact I was even cut off and dismissed when I was explaining how I was excited to have moved in next door. Yes I understand everyone is busy, there are extra constraints, and things are different during this pandemic but this isnt the only bike shop Ive been to that has these same restrictions. Also Im sure the staff are great people and this is not a review on a personal level, just a review of my experience. Also just a heads up, the service shop is extremely backed up so its unlikely to get your bike serviced quickly so I would ask around to see if anyone can get you in sooner.
Weve had nothing but great experiences at Derby Bicycle. We keep buying bikes here so they must be doing something right, plus Id rather support a local small business than a big box store.Show some grace during these stressful times. Put yourself in the owners shoes and the fact that hes trying to make sure everything is handled according to current regulations.
Derby has always given us excellent service. We have never been less than 100% happy with them. If this covid-19 is bringing out insensitive riffraff then, Derby, keep doing the right thing and know you have loyal customers behind you❣️
My family and I have bought 4 bikes from here in the past year. They are always very helpful. They also have a trade in program which is great for our growing kids.
My tire had a rip in the wall.. my tube was shot.. and they fixed them both.. new tire, new tube, PLUS labor $68. Done like new in LESS than 5 minutes. Thanks Derby Bike. You-all have earned my business. Thanks again
They are only allowing 6 people in the shop during this time. Since the store had met its limit, I was met outside by an employee who helped me get my tire tubes. Thank you for excellent service!
I purchased some maintenance items here and the customer service was excellent. They were very knowledgeable and they had a wide assortment of tires to fit my budget. I will go back.
They have helped me with multiple tire/tube repair and replacements and have been nothing but helpful and professional, and they even filled my tire for free after a flat.
Always great service whether you are running a bike, purchasing parts, or buying a new ride. No better bike shop in the metro area imo.
I made a phone call 2 days ago with some questions about a bike that Im interested in, and I visited the store the following day to follow up. It turns out the owner was the man I talked to the prior day on the phone. He was very knowledgeable and remembered my call from the day before. While I was looking at bikes 3 different employees asked if I had any questions or needed any help. GREAT SERVICE! Ill be back to purchase the bike Ive been wanting all summer, and theyre holding it for me in the meantime. Great, great customer service and Im happy to be a customer. Much recommended!!!
Very kind and professional, they kept me up to date on the status of my bike order and were very nice about it when I misunderstood and showed up a day early to pick up my bike (which I know has to be annoying when theyre this busy). I had a great experience and appreciate you guys for being open at this time!
Great shop, very knowledgeable and helpful staff! Bought a fantastic bike here!
Bill was very helpful in selecting a bike, and never tried to force or push anything on me. The experience was about finding the right bike for me, and then education on why I might want to upgrade or spend more or less. Also, about a week after purchase, I had an issue with my crankset, and was able to get to the store. Abe was able to take my bike, throw it on the rack, and get me back on the road in 10 minutes. Really appreciate the service and experience at this store, and highly recommend it.
Called to ask if they do repairs said bring it in so they could look at wish was told they do not do repairs on saturday i am on foot bike and bus took.me over an 2 hours to get there i know thats not their problem just wish they would have told me dont bring it there saturday and would have planned to bring it in when they do repairs is all just takes me a long time to do stuff on the bus especially since my bike is broken and then tried to go in the store to buy some bike chain fasteners and was kicked out understand the covid stuff just ways to treat people
I showed up within 20 min of closing time. I was happily greeted by everyone at the store, and even though they were moving all the bikes back inside, they were eager to help. I got a new tube and tire put on within minutes. Decent price too, given the quick service. Ill definitely be going back for all my bike needs.
I have shopped at Derby 3 times since it was so close to my house. This was a mistake. Not to mention that the staff was incredibly short and very unfriendly every time, all three items that I had purchased were marked up nearly 50% higher then the MSRP that you can find online literally anywhere else. Please don’t make the same mistake I did and get overcharged for purchase! Shop online so you don’t get taken advantage of, or if you want to go local, check out Pusher BMX located in Denver.
We’ve been fans of Derby for years. The guys are great. Abe is the man!
They always have what I need. Parts, tools, saddles etc. One of the best Specialized dealers around in my opinion. Abe, the mechanic is trustworthy and has always done the job right, gives solid advice and suggestions. I made Derby my go to shop and I highly recommend it
I ordered a bike thru these guys, called the fellow about the bike and I never heard back .......great technical wizardry
Extremely rude owner and will never buy anything from this shop again. Dont waist your time with this store there are so many wonderful bike shops but this is not one of them.
As mentioned in another review, this shop lacks serious customer service. I’m left feeling like I’m a nuisance to the person answering the phone (assuming it’s manager). I promise I won’t bother you anymore.
Super bummed about this bike shop. I live in Cripple Creek, which is well over 2 hours away from this shop. My daughter had an appointment in Denver today, so we decided we were going to swing by after we grabbed some dinner and buy my first mountain bike. We knew the exact kind we wanted to get and were just going to swing in real quick and get it. Their website and Google Maps both say the shop is open until 7:30. We got there at 7:05, just in time to watch someone hop in the derby bicycle van and pull away. We walked up to the doors, which were locked and the guy who was still inside saw us and then shut the light off. Theres a little sign off to the side of the entrance, above the business hours that says winter hours are until 7. Sure would be nice if that were posted somewhere online so that people who dont live just right down the road could know that without having to find out AT the shop. I mean, I understand shorter business hours during the winter and I understand closing when it states, just a crappy situation for us. Guess Ill spend my $600 somewhere else. Was really looking forward to a big bike shop too.
Bought a specialized rockhopper pro x1 today and love it. Went to 4 different bike shops looking for the type of bike I wanted, the right size, and the right price. Only Derby had what I wanted and they were very nice and professional. I will be doing business with them again.
Had them rebuild a wheel for my bike. I picked it up and I thought it was fine, but when I got I home I realized they rebuilt the disc brake wheel with a rim brake rim. They had the disc brake and knew it was a disc brake bike, I mean they had the rim?? Why would they do that? Now I have a rim brake wheel on my disc brake bike. Why couldnt they just do things right? Never going there again.
Great service and love my new bike!
I have been here twice for repairs to my BOB baby stroller tires. The first time I had a flat tire, and they repaired it very quickly, and the technician was very friendly and helpful. The cost was very reasonable for the flat tire fix.The second time I thought I had a flat again, but we only needed air. This technician was also very helpful and friendly, he checked all 3 tires and aired each one up.I would highly recommend this shop for fixing BOB Stroller tires!
Super rude staff. Husband came in for a sizing question, and they wouldnt let him even sit on a bike. He was planning to buy later this month once he knew his sizing. He was looking for a local place for bike repair as well, and to get tools, but nevermind. He will just go some where else if the staff is gonna be that rude over some thing so small and so simple
This place has more bikes packed into such a small place that you literally can’t get anywhere and you have to climb over bikes to get to any gear or accessories you’re looking for. I’ve never seen so many bikes packed in a space even twice as big. If you’re even the slightest claustrophobic, don’t go there. If you have a stroller, wheel chair, or even crutches, don’t bother because you’ll hardly get through the door there’s so many bikes. It was very overwhelming. I went in looking for a pair of specialized comp mtb shoes and found they were $10 over msrp. Was there a space to sit to try shoes on? If there was it’s covered by bikes. I was also shopping for bottle cages but they were dusty. How clean must this place be anyway? We quickly left as we literally couldn’t get anywhere in the store through the gauntlet of bikes.
If you want to get an idea for the type of people running this business, look at the owner responses to bad comments. He is the Trump of Google Reviews. He even responded to one comment with, Fake Review - Just Ridiculous. Ive never seen a worse business owner response to a genuine issue. The owner clearly doesnt have business sense or tact in how he talks/treats his customers. He is abrasive, short, and rude to those that come and talk to him. He always talks as if he has something better to do than talk to you. Also, his website is not up-to-date and lists that he carries certain products, but does not. This is basic e-commerce and can easily be addressed, but the owner doesnt care. If you go in and say you are looking for a particular product that he no longer carries, hell respond very rudely and tell you that they dont carry it, as if to say, too bad. I tried to mention that the website still listed the item as a product he carries and he was rude and dismissive. And to the owner, if you plan on responding super defensively like the poor businessman than you are, the sole reason I will never go back to your shop is because of you and your attitude.
Incredibly rude spent 4 bands at golden bear much better service
