Where do I start, From the service to the workmanship everything was done exceptionally well. I am a local owner of a tour and transportation company in the city of New Orleans I brought one of my vehicles to have service and the service was exceptional my transmission was done on time and running super not only that the charge was originally $725 when I got there he said it’ll only be $614 because The original labor cost would have been four hours but he did it in less time and remove the difference on the price. Being a business owner myself you do not find that kind of integrity everywhere. In business relationships are important and I have learned in my time to not take those relationships for granted. I brought my 2011 GMC Acadia to Cottman Transmission for a transmission concern. After checking my transmission concern I was informed that it was not a major concern. I truly appreciate their honesty. The price to repair and service my transmission was reasonable and even though they had to order the parts kit for my vehicle. I feel that I got my vehicle back in a timely manner. I picked my vehicle up on 6/9/21. I have been driving it for a full week now. My transmission is shifting fine now and that makes me a happy customer. My wife and I are truly grateful to Todd and his team there at Cottman Transmission!

I thought this was an honest and great place. The price was right. On October 4-5 I had my transmission repaired here. The problem was the fluid line for the transmission. Other places had tried to rip me off; Cottman didnt and fixed this problem. Except they didnt. I drove him and driving home from work, this happened: a fire that started clearly from beneath the motor from a transmission fluid leak. That was the view of the junk dealer who came and I didnt even tell him that I had just had it repaired at Cottman. Then I called Cottman. And emailed them. And then called them. And they claim it is the engine--though engines dont just burst on fire and the only reasonable explanation is that, as the picture shows, the fire started underneath the motor and moved up. After all, oil doesnt spontaneously combust. But a slipshod job on a transmission fluid line would: it would leak and catch fire easily (you can look up how flammable it is). Cottman didnt pay for the truck, didnt even offer to reimburse me for the repair; didnt even apologize for putting me out having to find a new car quickly so I could get to work. But more importantly, do you want your car or truck in flames? Do you want smoke to be suddenly coming into your car as youre driving and realize its ablaze as youre on a highway? Do you want to see it melting in front of you, as you move as fast as you can (I was on crutches) to a safe distance and call the fire department before it blows up? Is this what you want for your car or truck? And finally, when it does happen, dont you expect that if Cottman was so expert in transmissions it would know what the junk dealer knew from seeing many of these cases, what logic would tell you (it had just been repaired in that area and its more than just mere coincidence), that it was their fault? And if they dont know that, then what dont they know about transmissions? And if they cant handle a fluid line repair so your car doesnt go ablaze, do you want them to handle *any* part of your car? Your brakes? Your motor? Your whole transmission? Avoid this place. Look at the photos. Then look again. You dont want to be in this scary situation ever.

I first went to Cottman because my vehicle was making a noise. Jason looked at it and discovered it was only a missing bolt that needed to be replaced. My vehicle is now 11 years old so when they had took care of the bolt I asked them to let me know if there was anything else that needed attention. Two issues, the CV joint which need to replaced immediately and the brakes within the next month or two. I was given an estimate from Todd and I brought the vehicle in the morning when they open to have the CV joint replaced and was charged exactly what the estimate was and the job was done by the end of that same day. Sure enough, within a two months my brakes began to grind. Again, I brought it in in the morning, was charged according to estimate, and received the vehicle by the end of the same day.I purchased a new battery from a local auto parts shop and the guy there told me my alternator maybe going bad. I recently brought my vehicle in believing my alternator need to be replaced. I received a call from Todd explaining that my alternator is running properly and it did not need to be replaced. I was very grateful for his honesty.I would not trust anyone but Todd, Jason, and their crew to work on my vehicle. These guys are a rare find in this business and I would recommend them to anyone. Quick, friendly, knowledgeable, and quality service. Price was a little higher than quoted, but quote was before they went into the transmission and they also replaced the rear main seal. Dropped it off on a Wed morning and was ready Thurs afternoon. I feel like Ive gotten a quality rebuild and will be bringing my vehicle back for any other repairs that may be needed. Thanks guys!!

However when we went to pickup the vehicle this price had increased by over 300.00. When I inquired why there was such a difference in the original quote as compared to the final price I was told that the original price quoted was not the actual final price.. This sounds like the old bait and switch game... If this is the kind of business they practice then their so called Code of Ethics means absolutely nothing to them ... Nor do they wish to develop a long standing relationship with our community. As a retired Law Enforcement officer and the spouse of and father to dedicated military personal I know about Honoring the Code of Ethics and this is not how you Honor the Code!!.

I went to Cottman Transmission Gretna store this morning around 7 am. However, the store opens at 8am on Monday. Its very cold outside and a gentleman opened the door and let me stay inside and wait. From this trivial matter we can see that they really care about their customers.Mr Todd carefully asked me issues related to my car and nice enough to share me a table to study before car diagnosis. Mr Jason is a professional mechanician there, he allowed me to stay in the car repair factory and taught me a lot of mechanics of cars. He spent around 2 hrs on checking my car and free of charge which is unbelievable. Besides, he gave me a lot of useful suggestions.Thank you guys for doing business with conscience. Please do not hesitate to visit this store when you have problems with your car.

I had a great experience at this shop today.Day before yesterday my AC started blowing hot air. It would get cool for a second then it will be burning up the next. I took it to a local repair shop Pep **** and they told me that I need new everything. They said that everything that was connected to the AC had to be changed and it was going to cost me $1,900. They didnt even take their time to look at my truck. So I left.Stressed out in this hot New Orleans heat I started calling around to different places in the area. I came across Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care and gave them a call. I spoke with a gentleman (Todd) and told him what my problem was. He was very nice and straight up told me to just bring my truck by and he will take a look at it for me no charge. He told me that AC checks usually take hour or hour-and-a-half to see what the problem was.Long story short he was straight up an honest with me and you dont get that from alot of people especially men that are mechanics. Some (not all) think that just because youre a woman you dont know what could be wrong with your car so they charge you whatever they want.I left Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care with a peace of mind and a working AC for less than $100. I am so thankful for the service that they provided. They now have a new loyal customer.Thanx for letting me believe that they are still some honest people out there.

Scam artist. Dont believe anything Jeff the bald guy says. Hell tell you whatever you want to hear to get your bis and you to go along. Claimed they were so busy but when I walked in unexpectedly he had a Xbox controller in his hands. Ī didnt ķnow Xbox made helpful mechanic tips in their games. This place is a joke.f

Had a transmission rebuilt at the Gretna location. It lasted all of 8 months. Was rebuilt a second time and took my vehicle home. The transmission pan had a major leak. Took it back and this process happened two more times before the pan leak was stopped. Now two years and 10,000 miles later the transmission is toast. Found out the solenoid pack on the 45rfe was not changed as i was charged for this along with having a case that now needs helicoil because it was damaged. Looks like other frictions were not changed also.

Bumbs, couldnt fix transmission 4 times, then screwed e over on parts. They kept throwing parts in it, guessing they would fix it sooner or later. Had to call in someone from another location. Should have used my spare key and tool it back. They Dont deserve a half star . Complained to BBB. NO HELP...

The worst place to take your vehicle to get service cottoman did transmission work on my vehicle less then a year ago and Now the car is having Transmission problems again like really who has money to keep spending on a Transmission ridiculous Everyone who reads this stay far away from that place they dont do good work at All
