Great place to find musical equipment. They have almost everything. Customer service is very knowledgeable
Wonderful staff. Very wide selection. An amazing place if you are a musical instrument lover!! Very wonderful experience. Will for sure be back!
This place is a guitarists heaven! Wall to wall, floor to ceiling guitars. Friendly staff with good service, and knowledgeable.
This place is amazing! Who would have thought a place like this in Terre Haute?? Over 1000 guitars in stock and every kind of unique guitar and brand! I could go on and on - Japanese Fenders, New Old Stock of Vintage Jackson’s, and on and on. Because they have so many guitars stacked so close together, they had to hand the guitars to you. Our salesman Brad was a trooper - he must have handed me 100 guitars - he was up and down ladders for two hours! John the owner was awesome and I could have stood there the whole day listening to his stories of the musicians he has sold to!It is a bit overwhelming when you walk in - my head was spinning with all the 🎸 . Everything is well organized. It’s the type of experience that you want when shopping - they took their time, they were friendly and knowledgeable!! Can’t speak highly enough! I can’t wait to go back! Got a cool vintage Danelectro!
Very helpful. My husband built a vintage style Fender Telecaster for my son and was having issues with a pickup. And we even got to hear the guy sing and play! Looking forward to going back soon!
Now this is a genuine guitar store!! Wonderful.
Always so friendly and knowledgeable! Not sure they can pack anymore inventory into the shoppe! Definitely a great place for instruments, & music supplies.
Amazing service and a huge selection. Just bought a wonderful tone master twin reverb amp from there and am itching to get home and use it more than what I did in the shop.
Really nice atmosphere, great selection and i would recommend anyone who looking for some new sound STOP IN!!
Best place to find vintage musical instruments.
I came in today and these guys were awesome! Im a greenhorn when it comes to guitar and I want to learn so I decided to stop by and buy me a new guitar and amplifier. They took the time to let me try out many guitars and amplifiers, explained the basics to me, sat down and showed me how all the guitars worked and sounded, and we had a really good time. I ended up leaving with a Gibson Les Paul that sounds amazing with the new amplifier I got with it. My amp came with a lot of buttons and knobs I didnt know anything about and they showed me how to navigate it very well. Hands down best customer service Ive ever had. I really appreciate todays experience and the Music Shoppe will now be my #1 place to go for all things music!!! You guys are awesome, Thank You!!!
This shop is bursting with high quality, gently used, reasonably priced guitars, other musical instruments, and accessories. They do offer some new products as well. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
Great service! They were very helpful and had a HUGE selection of guitars and equipment!
Great service. Friendly knowledgeable and CHEAP! Huge variety
Very helpful staff, and a large selection of instruments.
The music shoppe was great. Very helpful and great service!
What a cool store with an amazing selection! John was extremely helpful. Thanks
I went with my husband to look at guitars. This place is awesome has a great collection and the people were really nice, and professional. My husband found the guitar he wanted and Ill be going back for a bass guitar.
Grabbed some strings and a few picks..John Beeson(Owner) and I go back a good 50 years..
I got a 30-day layaway you got some nice guitars in there you just got to know how to take the guy it can be a handful sometimes
This is one of the only really neat music shops in Terre Haute. Their store is packed with really neat guitars. The owner and good staff are very responsive if you have any questions concerning music and if you cant find what youre looking for, just ask and they will figure it is they can find it for you or order it if they dont have it. Its a great place to buy a new set of strings or to find a technician to help you with a broken instrument. Highly recommended for music lovers.
They have a massive selection and were great about helping me (someone newer to guitar playing) out with all of my questions and needs! The guitar I bought was in great condition, plays well, and they helped me hit the right price for it as well.
Got guitar strings love the prices!
Great place to find your next guitar!
Great little place
The shoppe has many guitars to choose from when I go there never leaving there without one most of the time
By far the best music/guitar shoppe anywhere around for more than 40 years. Stocked with literally thousands of vintage guitars, as well as hundreds of various other instruments including but not limited to basses, drums, harps, keyboards, amps, speakers, PA systems, recording gear, strings, sticks, straps, stands, parts, repair service for almost anything music-related, and a bunch of other cool swag and fun stuff. Any and everything you can think of or ever possibly need for all that is music, you can find here. They also offer music lessons and are happy to help however they can. This is the place to go. Very highly recommended....Go check it out!!
The guys in there were super nice and easy going. Great atmosphere and plenty of guitars to choose from! Looking forward to coming back and getting more gear 😀
This place rocks.... guitar lovers dream... wall to wall guitars and amps.. lots of history here
Nice atmosphere and a good selection. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. It is a good experience plus we need to keep our local shops in business
Really cool staff and great selection of gear. I was visiting the city last summer and stopped in to check this place out. They welcomed me like I was a recurring customer and let me try out several different amps and guitars. Next time I’m back there, I’ll be stopping in for sure.
Went in looking at a bass and small amp to get back into playing. Bass was priced fairly, but looking at the amp it was $30 over what a new one cost on musiciansfriend. Continue to look at the amps comparing to retail cost online trying to find one that wasnt more than what a new one goes for and employee kicks me out saying I can compare from my car. Just lost a sale on a bass because they wanted to make $30 more than cost on an amp. Dont waste your time, if you compare prices you will be kicked out. Some guy comes out of the office attempting to make an excuse saying their prices are set by Fender and Ampeg, they cant go below it. Since when have companies started regulating resale prices on resale/used merchandise? If that was the case pawn shops and other resale outlets like Reverb would be limited on prices, and I am sure they wouldnt price it $30 over a new one. Guy from office said no one was kicking me out for looking at retail costs online, yet the other employee kept literally saying to get out and he wasnt going to waste his time for someone looking online. They kick $40 off the amp they would have had a bass sold too, but guess they are looking for people that dont know what the equipment costs brand new.
I stop here from time to time for guitar accessories (strings, picks, straps and so on) most often get what Im looking for. Guys are friendly and dont have to wait. They have a wide variety of most brands. Anyone looking for musical instruments should always take someone who knows a thing or two about what they want. Would be nice if they had a bigger store though.
Im new to learning guitar and the guys in there were more than helpful to get me set up with everything I needed to get started. The prices were the best around, and were comparable to the big box stores. Shop local.
Get shop and owner
They are great guys and know their stuff. They have a great wide range of instruments. He took his time and help me find the one that was right for me. I highly recommend this place
If you want ripped off go here.i feel for people that put $ first. But they do still have some good deals just know what youre doing when you go in there
If you cant find your guitar at The Music Shoppe, you dont need a guitar!
Ive known John, the owner, for close to 50 years. He really knows his stuff. He has about 1000 instruments in stock and if he doesnt have it he can get it. Good selection of vintage guitars.
First time here, 1940s -1950s feel about the store itself..think of the movie Mr.Magoriums Toy Emporium. Wasnt expecting as many axes as I found. If youre looking for a Danelectro, youll find one. Gibsons, Fenders, G&Ls, Fernandez, new and used, all in a very intimate, and basically compact store. Will definitely be returning
They have nice guitars and a good selection. Prices are on the high side. I wanted to look at the guitars on a stand but was told they had to be handed to me so I still don’t know they didn’t have the guitar I was looking for. I wanted to make sure it stayed in tune but was told I couldn’t use my tuner they would tune it. Then they stand over you while you are trying to test it. I have no doubt they had guitars I would buy. May have been just the person I got pre-judged me and my spending ability so who knows. He seemed really annoyed I was picky about what guitar I wanted to buy.
I dont see how anyone could give these guys a bad rating, you must not know your guitars or pricing. These guys sale used 1000$ guitars for next to nothing! Theyre helpful, are willing to haggle their prices down, and are generally cool dudes! After visiting there I automatically regretted purchasing a guitar online from guitar center, which just arrived and had a warped neck!
Awesome place to shop or stop in for a visit. The guys in there are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. The experience is as good as the selection.
John has a great shop that has stood the test of time...I would never go anywhere else. Acoustic or electric, precussion and p.a.... They have it all. if your looking for new or vintage..possibly just a repair then stop by.
Bought a great concert uke! Took it back later and they helped tune it and set me up with a tuner and capo! Grateful for this small local business!🤙
I have been going there for over 20 years and have always been treated great and they are willing to work out good deals with you. Great selection on new and used.
Love places like This! Musty, old full to the brim with every kind of new and used instrument you can imagine. Super friendly staff.
Great....the gentleman helped me as soon as I walked in but wasnt pushy to sell me more than I wanted. Will return again and also recommend it to beginners in the process of learning guitar.
Hundreds of high quality guitars for anyone - beginner to lifelong musician. Quiet shop and helpful staff. Lessons are also available.
Tons to choose from, knowledgeable, great prices, and can give you great advice and tips
Great experience every time
Great service a great selection of musical equipment and the people are great . I highly recommend the place
Great inventory and helpful staff. I cant believe that Im just finding out about this place. I will definitely be going back.
Most of the bad experiences on here are due to the costumer not checking out the item good enough before they purchased it. Before you by something you look at it really good, you play the guitar or amp. I have had nothing but successful purchases from the store.
Stopped in to look and browse First time there. Lots of guitars, some high end, some other fretted instruments. I asked about additional inventory and was told they kept it locked in the vault and then he walked away. Seemed like I was a bother instead of a customer so I left.
I have gotten all of my sons Intruments there. The guys are knowledgeable, and willing to help you get the best equipment at the best deal for you.
Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Took my electric bass to be checked out.
Amazing atmosphere and a huge selection of instruments/gear
What can I say? The Music Shoppe is the last man standing after Guitar Center and the Conservatory of Music bit the dust. Id tell you to buy your guitar strings from Louie Popejoy, but youll spend 50 minutes waiting for him to make his way to the counter. I shop at The Music Shoppe because I have to, and so will you. Solly Cholly.
Excellent music store, they do a lot for musicians in the wabash valley. I have been doing business there since the late 70s and John has always treated me fair
Shop is pretty small, but seems to have a wide variety of instruments. I got a fair price on a trade.
Absolutely terrible. First off this store sells all of there used equipment at retail prices. Second, i bought an over priced used Alvarez acoustic guitar for $530, when i got home i noticed bridge lift. so i took it to guitar center and they wouldnt even touch it because of the condition it was already in, so i took it back to The Music shoppe for a refund and the owner was very stern on no refunds. it was to the best of my knowledge that i was able to get a refund, due to the fact that there was no return policy written anywhere, not on the receipt nor in the store. in conclusion i wouldnt recommend buying anything from this store, terrible service and an all around loss of money.Sincerely, a very unsatisfied customer.
The place seems to go on forever, every time you think you reached the end you find another nook with more stuff. They really need a bigger store. The staff has a reserved style of friendly, a you-are-not-worthy-to-be-here type of attitude. They also look like they came from auditioning for a scene from spinal tap, yes tight pants and long hair looks good if you are a teen from the 70s but not for an adult now.As far as helpfulness I cant say too much I asked for a price on an old mandolin and he told me but didnt even bother asking if I wanted to have a closer look at or play it.I realize this isnt guitar center where I can pick up any guitar and play it all day, come to think of it I didnt even see any place I could sit down and play anything. As far as prices, its what you would expect, I can buy any accessory for half the price online.
Bigger than expected cheap price and clean
They have it. If it is electric guitar related they probably got it.
Great people fair price for equipment, although there is a somewhat limited selection but you would be surprised to see what you find overall good place.
Love it.
Great experience, great service.. a Hidden Gem of a store in Terre Haute..
Great inventory, pricing and customer service. A gathering place for musicians from beginner to expert.
Knowledgeable and polite...priced fair!
The guys working were nice and very helpful!
Great customer service and great Prices
Theyre overpriced, creepy (see below), and play fast and loose with due dilligence about vintage items.Beware the $3500 low-serial Mosrite The Ventures Model in this shop.A real 1966 Mosrite Ventures in good shape can still be found for well under $3500 with minimal effort. There have been extremely serious repairs to the headstock and the heel of the neck. The decal is in the wrong place, and the neck plate is home made. The serial number on the fretboard is missing (not removed, it was never stamped in the first place). The whammy bar is asianTheres no shame in them selling this; Mosrites are pretty often fakes in the first place. I am not complaining about that, Im complaining that it was priced at $3500. But sell it as a knock-off, for *** sake. Knock-offs in good shape still go for over a grand regularly; why bother pretending its legit? That requires either greed, ignorance, laziness, or ineptitude.Mosrites *always* have serial numbers on the fretboard. The pick-guard is also home-made, and the harness, bridge, and tuners are not stock.Anyway, this guitar is priced high. You should be able to find another guitar in this shape for $500 if youre careful.if you want a copy or clone, get a Hallmark, Fillmore, or Kurokomo.I dont support Ed Roman, but go there first if you want a $3500 Low Serial Number legitimate Ventures model; I m 100% certain they can find you one. Buy a Fillmore or a Hallmark, dont get ripped off by a guitar like this, real neck/body or not (Im pretty sure the answer is not). They knew I was driving five hours to see this, and they didnt even bother to dust it off or tune it before I showed up. Not necessary or anything, just, you know, acting like you marginally give a f*.If I did that at the guitar store I used to work in, theyd have kicked my ass down the street to Guitar Center. They were totally willing to take me to the cleaners on a trade for it, too. They were very happy to take my 70s Grabber and Sunn plus $500.I feel bad for the person who is allegedly buying it at the next guitar show.Buyer beware. One of them kept flirting with the gal I brought along, as well, so I suggest that any ladies going there bring their hip boots and prepare for the usual BS so many of my fellow males inflict on women trying to buy guitars. We could have been married or something. Dude didnt even check first. That might have been my wife or lover. Didnt even ask.Quite tasteless.Im sure they have plenty of good points, but those are available in the rest of their online reviews.
Great vintage music store & employees are wonderful!
Ive had mixed experiences. On one hand, Ive gotten some killer deals from John. He is always an awesome guy to talk to, and he knows his stuff. Unfortunately, a lot of his stuff is overpriced. I had one bad experience, in which I bought a strat there for over $1,000, and I had nothing but problems with it (broken truss rod, corroded hardware, holes drilled in body underneath pickguard, and a bad tremolo conversion. None of which were visible under first glance.) I was able to get rid of the strat, and recoup my money, but it has made me hesitant to make any large purchases there again.
Friendly staff, beautiful instruments, decent prices.
Great people to do business with. Very helpful!!!
