Ethan managed my insurance check-out in my Bonanza. I appreciated his coordinated approach to lessons so that each built on the former. He ensured through the flight exercises that I understood the airplane and how to use the avionics, which were entirely new to me. His scheduling was very flexible to allow for my work schedule and to work around his other commitments. Regardless of whether I were flying a new plane, his instruction was worth it just for the review and rigor for instrument procedures.

Ethan Malabolti is a very knowledgeable and competent pilot. He recently ferried our Bonanza from Indiana to Colorado. It was a reasonable price and he was very professional. I have also trained with Ethan. We have nothing but positive experiences with Malavolti Aviation and would recommend them.

I have been working with Malavolti Aviation for a number of years now in different capacities. Always professional, courteous and full of great information. I have most recently been getting some flight training from them and they really know what they are doing. Ethan takes the time to really explain the principles of flight and make you feel at ease in the cockpit.

This review is my personal experience with Malavolti Aviation and also a response to those who have left some negative reviews on his business. My experience with Malavolti Aviation began when I overheard a student at my flight school raving about his experience with finding and ordering flight school supplies through Malavolti Aviation. Mind you, I was in the Chicago Suburbs at this time. Never did I realize that Malavolti Aviation is local to my college, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, in Terre Haute (near KHUF) until I was interested in some of their products and a check-ride for my Sport Pilot Certificate. First of all, their shop is well stocked and the prices are actually lower than most online retailers; not to mention that I don’t need to wait for shipping. Also do realize that Ethan is busy, like most DPEs for check-rides. In Indiana, Sport DPEs are scarce, and fortunately for Ethan, he is one of them. With that, respect his time given the scarcity of DPEs and that he needs to manage other areas of his business as well. As a college student with a limited time schedule, Ethan kindly worked with me to find a suitable time to take my check-ride. He is extremely professional and truly puts his best foot forward to advance the aviation industry. Thank you Ethan and the rest of the Malavolti Aviation team for all your help!

CON-ARTIST ALERT. Do not uses Ethan for check ride examiner services, his lack of experience in general aviation is apparent. He also likes to accept money from students without even starting a check ride, then find excuses not to give the ride. Very poor ethical business practices.

Reading the negative reviews I felt compelled to pass along my experience with Ethan over a weekend ferrying home an aircraft.A year and a half ago I purchased a Thorp T-18 in Delaware. Ethan, having time in a Thorp, was very good about scheduling the trip on short notice taking advantage of favorable weather. He did his currency landings with the owner prior to our flight. He was prepared and helpful at getting the paperwork properly done. The seller was even impressed at how knowledgeable he was and easy to work with especially his flight skills and airmanship. I was impressed that he never let the weather leave his mind opting to depart that same day due the to wx forecast over the Alleghenys. The original plan was to depart the next day. His flight routing through the complex DC airspace was great. The flight home to HUF went without a hitch. Ethan and the Thorp performed excellent. Back at home his checkout instruction, insurance required 2 hrs dual prior to solo, was very good and helpful. He signed me off at 2.1 hrs and the cost was reasonable. Overall I would recommend his services.
