I worked as a Temp for 6 months at PCA. Half of the time was talk about being hired on and the other half was neglect as a temp. They make you feel disposable and the plant supervisor, Don, hardly makes you feel like you exist there. Starting temp pay was 12 an hour at 40 hours a week minimum with time and a half for overtime, which they would let you know Friday if you had to work Saturday and make you feel guilty if you already had reservations for the weekend. You can kiss any appointments goodbye as they will accumulate points against your attendance which leads to termination.Some existing workers are hesitant to train you and will let you look lost as they dont tell you their expectations, then will go to the supervisor to say you arent a help. Some temps have been there 9 months without being hired on and without a wage increase. There are some really positive supervisors that are involved on the floor that make your day and make you feel like part of the bigger picture, however there is more of a negative vibe overall. The plant manager will Smile at you and thank you for your participation at plant meetings then go without eye contact for days until the next meeting to talk AT everyone again. There is a noticeable “class” segregation between salesmen or those in the office and the workforce on the shop floor.
