My family has frequented this place many times over the years. Because they are the ONLY ones who repair lamps. And that is absolutely the ONLY reason they get any business. And I should mention that they are quite aware of that fact. They are way overpriced, but know you have no other alternative. Customer service is as follows... there is none. The older woman who is no longer there (thank god) was extremely rude, but now replaced with a younger version who you are apparently inconveniencing just by walking in the door. To top it off, the guy who I assume is the owner stands behind this type of service and thinks it is acceptable. You, the customer, are the problem?! SMH
I have shopped in this store for many, many years and they always have done a wonderful job repairing or updating lamps. Recently, I have moved several chandeliers and they came to my home did a thorough cleaning and some repair on site which was very convenient and at a very reasonable price.
Overpriced restoration which was not satisfactory in any way other than the new lamp cords and the new light socket fixtures. Paid $725 to have two lamps restored.. would have been another $700 to have them rebrassed... I should have just bought two new stifle brass bases for $500 and not gone through the aggravation and disappointment of picking up these expensive repaired lamps that Im still embarrassed to use in my house.
Angry employees and poor customer service.took over a month to get a simple lamp repaired. wont do that again.
They are wonderful they have been instrumental in me and shaving my goals of doing the Vintage historical restoration and East Ybor City for the past 14 years oh, I love the Vintage life pictures that I recover and Salvage and have restored by them and reposition them into these beautiful vintage raised ceiling cigar casa and Casitas of East Ybor City
Terrible customer service. Would leave less than one star review if possible. Fixtures with this store for over 6 weeks and still not done. When called as lead ing for the season, staff yelled at me over the phone. Fixing a lamp aint that hard that folks need to tolerate such terrible customer service.
Helpful folks here! They repaired a couple of my lamps and did a fantastic job! Then they helped me pick out harps and lamp shades for several lamps. Very pleased with all of my purchases.
They did an excellent job refurbishing my grandmothers old tension lamp. When I brought it to them it was rusty, did not work and had broken shades. The globes to fit this lamp are no longer in production but they helped my locate, some that fit and look great! Thank you for helping me save a very sentimental lamp.
Great service. Dropped my lamp off for repair late Saturday afternoon and it was fixed and ready to be picked up by noon on Tuesday despite the fact the store was closed both Sunday and Monday.
Knowledgeable, friendly and trustworthy. I came in with something I thought needed to be rewired. It was actually fine. He tightened everything up and I bought bulbs from him as we think it was an issue with the bulbs. Will gladly go back. They had a huge selection of shades.
This place should be avoided. I tried to buy from this local shop. Big mistake. This should have been a simple interaction and turned into a very irritating experience. Bottom line – Lamp Repair N Shade Studio does not accept returns. In their words “what do you think we are – Home Depot?”This was not a special-order item. It came right off their shelf. I said that I wanted to take it home to see if the color matched. Bought the shade, took it home, and didn’t like the match. When I came back to the store 2 days later, they refused to give me a refund, pointing out that the receipt says “7 day store credit only”. Of course, you get the receipt at the end of the transaction, and I didn’t think to read the fine print.Very shady (get it?) business practice. Needless to say, I will never go back.
Needed a small 5 light chandelier rewired - dropped off and they said 4-6 weeks, I didn’t hear anything from them until I called them after they had had the chandelier for 8 weeks, they said they were backed up. I had to keep chasing them and calling to get an update and at one point they told me they didn’t have the chandelier (it was lost in the back up apparently). I finally called again after it had been 10 weeks and they said they would be working on it the following week. They never called me with an estimate just called and said it was ready to be picked up and then charged us over $200 to rewire a small chandelier light fixture. I never would have paid that much if we had known, we could have just bought a brand new light fixture. They were nice on the phone but I won’t be returning.
This is a small family-owned business and Ive had great experiences there previously. When I went in today to exchange two $70+ lamp shades, the woman was shockingly rude. She did not want to exchange them because it has been more than two weeks since I bought them. The receipt said store credit within seven days but I was willing to spend more money if necessary to get the properly-sized shades. They were still in the plastic so I assumed there wouldnt be a problem. I had not returned them sooner because my handyman hadnt been able to re-hang the wall lamps and I live about 25 miles from the store. As I threatened to walk away and go to Home Depot, she said, No, you wont. Are you going to listen to me? I said that I would. She grudgingly let me have the shades I wanted. They were a few dollars less, but I told her to keep the money. She wrote a store credit, but I will never set foot in that store again because of the way she spoke to me.Anyone who treats customers that way should not be allowed to work with the public.
I dont usually write-up places that have provided services. However I would like to make an exception. The service and quality of Tampa Lamp Repair & Shade Studio is par excellance! I worked with James on having a Waterford Crystal Chandelier repaired after it was damaged in transit for my re-location from New York City. I cant begin to tell you the arduous and delicate nature of my repair. James and his staff are a true treasure, I couldnt be happier with the professionalism I received. My Chandelier which is a family heirloom was treated with the care and reverence it needed. I am very thankful for the quality workmanship done by Tampa Lamp Repair & Shade Studio.
The owner can make a lamp or light fixture out of anything, plenty of examples in the store. Before heading to larger lighting stores stop by and youll be glad you did. Prices are better than reasonable, especially considering the unique options. The shades available are incredible and the selection is plentiful. They also have older glass replacement shades and replacement chain etc. If not available in store, owner can order. Lovely store, helpful owner.
If you want an expert you are at the right place. I am happy to report they re-wired two chandeliers for me and were able to find missing crystals that matched perfectly. They also gave me excellent advice regarding using newer LED light bulbs that save energy heat and waste. I highly recommend the Lamp Repair & Shade Studio.
Always the great help and service with this company. Local owned and operated, we love these guys. Thank yall!
Nice family owned business. The son is now running the show, I hope he would be the only one there. He is great, nice, friendly, great guy.The mother is interesting for lack of better word. I am along time customer and I will get item from them even knowing they are more expensive. It is a small business and I believe we should sponsor small businesses. The mother should not go to the store, she is rude and I know lots of people whom wont came back because of her. Just over look her, they have great quality item.
Friendly staff and great prices.
Gail was very honest and her prices were reasonable. I would use her services again. I had a water issue with an outlet that tripped the breaker. My lamp would not turn on. After checking the bulb and the outlet, I called Gail. She said it would be $35.00 to replace the socket and $45.00 if the lamp needed to be rewired. After checking it out, she could find nothing wrong. I think transporting the lamp shook something back into place. Gail did not charge me for her time, and the lamp is working.
They do exceptional work in lamp repair and maintain an extensive inventory of high quality lamp shades. They have supplied 10 shades for my 1923 vacation rentals - Erehown Retreat.
If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The older lady who works there was SO rude. The lamp I got fixed there for a woman I work for exploded on her hand and left her with cuts when she plugged it in. The lady I work for is an older lady and I care very much for her wellbeing. The woman who works there told me it was my fault. She also rolled her eyes at me!!! Very rude!!! I feel giving them even one star isnt right. Never giving them my business again and you shouldnt either.
I had an antique lamp that needed repair. They got it done. Docked a point because their estimate was $75 and the bill was $130. It was good work.
So far this is my opinion. The guys are really nice, helpful and friendly. The old woman is extremely rude and kind of reminds me of Mrs. Mucus, my 9th grade math teacher who was the meanest teacher I ever had. So it seems the nightmare is still alive. Update in the near future. Well see how it goes. Ill correct this if I dont get treated like crap next visit. I was so close to waking out. Sounds like I shouldve.
This is an excellent store for repair of lamp, even if you need help with a bulb replacement they have great prices and can do it for you. Theyre very nice as well.
I went in for advice on an antique lamp I had. The gentleman offered me tons of advice on possible options for the lamp. He also told me about a ton of new restaurants in because I am new in town. Thanks!
We went to this shop looking for parts for some antique lighting fixtures we have. We spoke to a man, I assume the son, who was no help at all.On the contrary, he acted and spoke as though we were incredibly stupid to be asking for those parts. He did have some threaded rod that we could have used but he said he would have to cut it. His tone of voice indicated that to do so would be a huge imposition. I dont think I have every been treated so rudely or made to feel like I was an unwanted intrusion before. If this is the son and he is the nicer one there, I am surely glad we didnt run into the mother. We will certainly never go back.By the way, we found what we needed after a bit of searching on the internet. I would have left zero stars but this system wont let you.
Excellent service for lamp repair and conversion. I brought in a pair of ceramic cylinders and they were able to turn into beautiful lamps.
At 1st Id thought they were going to be exactly what I needed for a simple repair.Due to coincidences in timing [apparently] of issues within their office structure, my simple repair of(Option 1) Ordering 4 replacement Downrods(Option 2) Altering the existing Downrods [Cutting then rereading]Both options took over 1 1/2 weeks [without any communications from their side] before I just came back & took my parts back & found an alternative solution elsewhere. On the flipside:The store is located in a very easy to find part of town.Ample off street parking. The Interior of the showroom has some beautiful lamps, shades & accessories to view for purchase. My unfortunate situation could have been an unusual scenario but it should be shared just so others are mindful on their work brought in.
Prices are high but the quality is great Ive been going there for more than a decade
Since this is a family owned business, I make it a point to take my business there. I have been there several times throughout the last 10 years and each time have been treated rudely by the elderly lady who works the front desk. She has even lectured me on FL law and threatened to sell my lamps if they are not picked up within a certain time. They do wonderful work, but I’ve made my last trip there.
I went in for a chandelier repair and asked for James. He told me he would have to give me a call on a quote when he looked up the price of the parts. He called in 3 days and gave a detailed quote and told me 425-475 depending on time spent on the restoration. 4-6 weeks was the time allotted. It did take almost 7 weeks but was blown away with the work that he was able to do with my 60 year old chandelier. I am over whelmed with the look of it hanging in my foyer.I recommend asking for James when you go into the shop he was great.
Dont throw that lamp away!! Get it fixed! Great work and they have some pretty awesome lamps and lights in the store.
Horrible customer service and charged me more than what was quoted. I had emailed with the owner about refurbishing a chandelier I sent him details of what i wanted and pictures. He listed everything out and quoted 225-300. We get a call 6 weeks later, go in to pick it up and the owners mom who also works there told me it was $455!! I told her thats not what I was quoted and pulled up the email and asked why it was so much higher? Nothing was done differently than in the e-mail. She became so rude and acted said I was too young to understand? She said her son would of never quoted that and implied the emails were made up. Other customers were shocked at how she was reacting. At that point I asked her to call James the owner who I spoke with, she refused. She said to pay now or leave. She even threatened to dirty it up and give it back to me, if I didnt like the price. At this point I was NOT LEAVING it in their possession. In the end I payed with my credit card so i could dispute until i heard back from the owner (which i e-mailed him immediately to call me), and after i payed she continued to scream and insult me saying young people never honor their debt?!When i contacted the owner he did not apologize instead he claimed he spoke with me about a quote over the phone and/or in person, which never happened!
This is absolutely the best place for lamp repair in central Florida. They really know what they are doing, have been doing it for many years and their charges are reasonable.
Great repair shop for lights and Chandeliers,, good inventory of lamp shades.
This is the worst customer service I encountered so far. The old lady is just nasty and rude. I dropped my lamp to be repaired and they said it will take a week. After a week I called to inquire, and sure enough the mean lady gave me the same treatment like the previous reviewer. It take a month for them to finish the repair. I paid $50 for a socket replacement which is too expensive. But what devastated me is not the $50, it is the horrible treatment the woman gave me. I was asking her husband who I believe did the repair at the time of pick up about the new piece he put in and this women comes on me yelling at me in a nasty way, you do not need to know that. Well I completely ignored her comment because I now believed and got my own taste of what every pervious reviewer got. I will never deal with this business again, even it it is the last one in the US to repair lamps. Please, do yourself a huge favor and save yourself some humililation and fix your lamp somewhere else.
The Customer service was none existent .I was told my Chandelier would be ready in 4-6 weeks. It took over 2 months. I called to ask when it would be completed, and I was chastised for calling at all, and told they would call me.I took in my grandmothers 1940 chandelier, that I have cleaned many times to be rewired, refurbished and, cleaned,.Upon return, they replaced over a $1000,00 Chandelier with 5 white candle sleeves that were once white plastic, with white cardboard toilet rolls with seams.Tacky to say the least. They insisted that the sleeves were card board when I brought the Chandelier in. Even after my father ( Who had grown up with the Chandelier in his home) looked at his matching Chandelier which were plastic, and after I called a professional (That Lamp repair referred me to) confirmed by the before picture of the Chandelier that the sleeves were plastic, and after my sister and myself told them we had washed the sleeves and they were not cardboard, they refused to correct the problem.Terrible repair, inferior material used to refurbish, unethical practices.
Couldn’t even get accurate information although I know exactly what I need. The woman was rude on the phone and condescending. In Days of online ordering my suggestion is try harder to be polite. Won’t be going to the shop ever.
This is a small family business, they do not call you to give you an estimate. I called several times and they told me a price of $320 and then when I got there they added on something else and the bill was in the $400s they also add sales tax on their services. I am not sure how they can do that. So I was charged $26.60 in sales tax on the service repair to my chandelier.
They did a fantastic job on my lamp.
WARNING !!! Horrible CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Do NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY IN THIS STORE!! The older woman that works there is SO CRUEL AND RUDE!!! I really regret spending more than $300. dollars in that store. Who ever the owner is should put a new person to work there, someone friendly! I bought some lamp shades wanted to return one of them, the day after and she very rudely stated No returns No refunds but in a nasty tone and pointing at her stupid little sign that they should put on the counter, but fine ok would of been nice if she didnt treat me like a misbehaved child for asking a pretty simple question. Fine I get my receipt written on like I was getting an F on my homework, with a nasty look she throws it on the counter. I say thank you and nothing no response from her... I think, ok...Wow...have a nice day!? So today I went to use my store credit, because who knows what this older woman might come up with next, well i used my credit, really did not want to be there but had to use the store credit, bought some finials that Im very sure I thought came to the store credit price by the tag I saw in the case. Well she was punching in numbers into that calculator like I was making a huge purchase, than says: $5.78 .....I thought..what??? oh NO ! What a dilemma! I did not want to give that store 1 more penny and did not want to talk to her! well guess what I paid...annoyed by that, but satisfied to never go back into that store again! Oh and I guess all the writing and calculating was that my difference was 5.40 and the Tax on that is .38 cents ..... umm ok
Very helpful in building the correct mount for a heavy chandelier.
The place for lighting repair in South Tampa. Family run!
Excellent place and very helpful.
Incredibly rude customer service. The lady working the front desk should not deal with customers.
This lamp repair store is a gem.....the repair to the lamps was complete and ready for pick up in about 4 days... price was fair. Old school style of business.
Very unique business
Excellent customer service!
Good people
Ok
