Sam and the crew in here are making excellent sandwiches. They also have some great fresh cuts of meat as well. Took some breakfast sausage home and cooked them up right. Excellent green and go sandwich shop. Keep slinging them Sam!

Working near by and stopped in for a quick sandwich. I was impressed with the large selection of hot and cold food. I ordered a delicious Ruben. Plenty of meat, kraut, and sauce. Service was fast, place is clean. They also have a small selection of grocery items and a nice looking fresh meat market.

The business has changed a lot I went and got three Cuban sandwiches and 2 devil crabs the quality of the food isnt the same the prices have gone up I dont think Ill be going back anytime soon. They also were suppose to be pressed but was still cold

Quality food at a great price. The staff is very friendly and their service is great. If you need a quick bite to eat this is the place to go, they’ll have a delicious sandwich ready in no time. Lots of options to choose from. My personal favorite is the rancher on pressed Cuban bread. On top of all of that they are a little convenience store with a wide selection. I will return here again. Skip the fast food chains and continue to support small businesses like this one! ❤️

I have been gone for about 4 Years and I have recently moved back to the Tampa Area and was craving a sandwich. I had head about Forest deli being sold and I was a bit wary going in, because of the bad reviews when it was first sold. But I decided to give it a chance. I found the sandwich very well made and thought that although it wasnt EXACTLY like the old sandwiches it was comparable and was very delicious. I was able to call my order in and it was made exactly like I ordered it.

This is a great place for fresh salads and Cuban sandwiches. I recommend a visit or 2 or3. Lol

Ordered a Cuban sandwich here, and asked for the usual Tampa style of ham, pork, salami, swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, and pressed. What I got was a sandwich that didnt seem like it was pressed for long, no pickles, and a very bland tasting ham and swiss cheese with no flavor. Come to learn that new owners had taken over in the last couple of years as well, so that definitely explains why the sandwich didnt taste all that well, in comparison to when I first ordered from here several years ago.Still a convenient stop for small grocery items, though.

My family has lived in this area for decades and have been very happy and pleased patrons here. Today, we were all in the mood for a Super Cuban because it’s been a good minute. So we did our usual and called to order so we don’t have to wait in line as there always is one. To our dismay, nobody answered but we still decided it was worth the drive and wait. We get into the store and shocked to see only 3 ladies behind the counter and 1 customer with the phone ringing off the hook and nobody answering it. After a few rings one of the ladies goes to the phone and takes it off the hook so as to not allow more calls to come in (see picture for reference)! Noticing the slow pace, lack of customer service and poor appearance of the place I asked, have there been changes. She informed me yes, new owners came in a few years ago. As a long time customer, i think it’s important new management be aware you are going to lose a significant amount of business if this keeps up. My sandwich was just ok which for anyone who’s been eating these over the years know that many would travel long distances for these subs much like I did today from St. Pete. Very sad to see how someone can let such a mainstay in this neighborhood go like this. I hope the new owner reads this and the many other reviews I’m seeing that indicate you are not changing things for the better. We will try again I’m sure but if things don’t improve next time we are moving on to other sandwich shops for our “Cuban fix.”

Having been a customer at Forest Hills Grocery about 50 years I was very disappointed to find it had changed ownership. I no longer live close by so its been a while since I visited. I tried to phone in my sandwich order several times but no one answered the phone. When I arrived it took about 4 minutes before anyone asked me if I wanted to order. While my sandwich was being prepared I wanted to order meat and again waited for around 5 minutes. I was ordering 6 selections from the meat case and after each one I had to try to get their attention to ask for my next choice. The quality and pricing of my purchases was good. The cuban bread was not authentic but still good. I used to go out of my way to stop by and usually spent over $30. Probably wont go back.

Came back after a lengthy hiatus and emails of improvements and coupons were sent out to customers.Coupons were vauge and toppings went back to halved and skimpy after 3 visits..NOTICEABLE IMMEDIATELY with fake cheese etc. Coupons didnt clearly state which Salads/desserts were free..I gave this place another chance and as I feared it would go back to the bad ways. I really wanted to support, but must be honest for my $$.One employee didnt want to honor my coupon for free dessert (limited selection) and other employees overheard the confusion(including owner) and acted as if they didnt hear what was going on...VERY DISAPPOINTED..

We got food poisoning after eating Cuban sandwiches from here. No good. This place use to be better. We use to come here a lot and we haven’t in a while this weekend after baseball practice we stopped by for sandwiches and we all wish we had not, we are still so sick. Believe it or not, because you cant tell from the outside of the place, they have the best meats and salads around. The prices are great and meat is fresh. Definitely recommend and will be going quite often.

Im in this place multiple times a week and love the day staff. They are friendly, fast and the two sisters make the best sandwiches! HOWEVER my schedule has changed and now I usually dont go in until the evening. The MANAGEMENT needs to do something about the guy at night, he is making Rude comments about women. Somehow its always just him & another woman working at nights. This is probably why women workers dont last long.

Ive been coming to this deli since high school (so...were talking a couple decades now) almost exclusively for the Cuban sandwiches. They were the best in Tampa (I did the research!) and even though I moved out of the area, I still would drive the distance whenever I had a craving. I have to say, however, that the place has declined somewhat in the recent year or so. The Cuban sandwiches, which again were the best I had ever had, are still good...but just good, not the best like they used to be. And the customer service has suffered. Ive actually gotten fed up and walked out because Ive stood in front of the deli to make an order just to be ignored by the staff. It is my hope that this is just a temporary issue (its my understanding that the management has changed relatively recently) that will be sorted out. Forest Hills Deli is a pillar of the community, and it would be a shame if it lost its shine.

This place was good they had a lot of fresh food havent been there many times so I cant really tell you how good it is but I will try to go more I like the one time I went

My only complaint about this place is I went there one time A few years back and I Stood in front of the deli case waiting to order there. I think there were two employees working there that day They both saw me and didn’t say a word. I understand they were probably busy but they did ignore me. How ever the Cuban sandwich I finally got after waiting to place my order was pretty good And I would go back there again.

Used to love this place not sure what happened. Its still clean and has subs And stuff. But the staff could be a bit nicer to the customer but its a good place for a quick stop to pick up a lunch subl.

Years ago, this place had the best turkey sandwiches...I went there today and noticed they now use way less meat and really skimpy with all the ingredients (meat, cheese, tomato, lettuce, mayo and mustard)...my sandwich was dry as the desert...I WILL NOT GO BACK!!!!

As of today October 9,2020. I called the store to place an order for pick up at 10:17am. A lady picked up the phone and quickly told me to hold on a second.. I waited on the phone for about 10 minutes Ive then pulled up to the store as there were three ladies standing waiting for their orders..( they had already ordered) I approached the order counter to place my order and I wanted to speak to a manager about why I waited so long just to place an order for pick up the lady who sounded as if she was the lady that answered the phone she then walked to the counter to take my order I then pointed at my cell phone to show her that it was me that was still on the phone now its about 12 minutes Ive waited. She then picked up the phone and hit the end button on their cordless phone and then in a NONCHALANT tone her words were what you need maam I just looked at her and I said never mind and I walked out in disgust. All I wanted was a regular sized Cuban press I really felt like that was disrespectful and unacceptable yet VERY INCONVENIENT especially for waiting 10 minutes to place an order for one Cuban sandwich..and the fact there were hardly any customers in the store.. she had me o. Hold as if they were CROWDED...SMH

The entire atmosphere is horrible! What boss stands over there employees?? Like actually standing over them... Unacceptable.. The employees look as if they are miserable.. Service was great over the years but in the last year the service went down greatly. The sandwiches are thrown together and the staff is far from friendly. May revisit in the far future but for now Ill make the drive out of my neighborhood to ybor for better service and quality.

The best cuban sandwiches in town

New owners, a different atmosphere and culture. The shelves seem fewer and less full. When I visited the screens were out of order making ordering food difficult. The employees, yes had masks on but have a tendency to pull masks up or down to speak and call out orders. The lady that made my sandwich was not properly wearing her ppe. She had her nose out and was breathing all over everything the entire time never placing her face mask back properly to protect the Patrons or other employees. The employees wore gloves but missed the memo explaining when you start touching everything besides the food including the ppe you need to get new gloves. Since options are slim in this area for food and beverages this works but is more of a risk while going through the Pandemic.

Will go back more often than usual now that they have Art there doing Cubans if you want them soft pressed thats the man to go to. Love this place even as a child back in the day

I have been coming to forest hills deli for about 15 years their Cubans have stayed the same from the quality to the ingredients that makes your first bite the perfect bite each time. I recently tried the homemade soups I had 5he broccoli and cheese it was outrageous my only complaint is that it doesnt come in a bigger size.🤷‍♀️😁

If you have shopped here before spring/summer 2019, you may be disappointed as it has changed. The store was sold by the original owner about a year ago maybe. It has lost some of the neighborhood charm it had. The fresh meats seem to be different as well but I think they still cut and grind all of it. They still have the sandwich line and deli items. An addition is BBQ pork, beef, and chicken with an outdoor grill or smoker. Prices for regular grocery items are a bit high, IMO. Still, not quite the same as before and maybe that will change over time.

Had got a breakfast sandwich very very good but the cashier act like we going to steal the fountain drink because we start drinking it before we pay 1st impression no good

I went in for a sandwich and was highly dissatisfied. The gentleman that made my sandwich put everything I DIDNT want in it and then the rest of the sandwich was missing. No cheese, no mustard, no lettuce, nothing. Just meat Mayo and bread along with the three ingredients I didnt ask for. I called to make a complaint and that same gentleman didnt seem to even care he messed up. Four years ago this place was sooo much better.

It really upsets me when I have to give a business I love three stars. But, businesses have no idea how important the experience is for a customer.I love everything from their food to their prices and mostly friendly staff. However, I almost always avoid this place because I can expect to spend 30 minutes almost every visit from start to finish during the day. They need to do something about the wait times and the process they have it is obviously broken.

Came back to Forest Hill sandwiches after being disappointed after new ownership.I was pleasantly surprised when they send me an offer for buy one get one for $1.99As for right now I could tell you that the sandwiches are back to how they used to be I really enjoyed it.

This place is pretty good they have Cuban sandwiches which are pretty awesome. They also have various salads such as hand chicken and tuna. Their meat is a little bit pricey but I dont get my meat from them. The staff is about 50% friendly. One of the women there seems like she has a stick up her blank.

Neighborhood market for years that may have changed owners. It may still be in transition to add some new ideas. No butchers were seen in the butchers area. Meat (beef) looks like it was frozen and thawed presliced meats in sealed wrap. Ground beef fresh ground was very brown. They still had Cuban sandwiches that were premade on top of the cold cut display that you could have condiments, lettuce, tomato, and pickles added to it. You can have it cold or pressed. They also make breakfast and other sandwiches fresh when ordered. Some prices were not posted on cold cuts by the pound and salads. The place could use some sprucing up as well. It also looks like they may be adding a small heated buffet area by the front of the store.

First Ive been going to this place since I went to Chamberlain High School back in 2000 to this day I still get the super Cuban staff is very friendly kind and courteous and theyll help you and if they dont got it theyll get it. The butcher side of the deli has very good cuts I buy a lot of my meat from them can be kind of pricey but its good quality cuts
