I brought to him a canon 24mm 1.4 that had suffered a major fall to the ground. I had called multiple companies before hand that said this lens was completely unrepairable. I found him on google & he was the most professional person I have ever met when it comes to fixing equipment. I will continue to use his services in the future. I am so grateful for him right now because that lens is a important part of my business and I cannot afford a new one right now. His prices are beyond reasonable and he is determined to help you in any way he can. Thank you very much
The repairman was very helpful, but he doesnt work on Sony cameras.
I had the top cover replaced on my Canon 70D I bought the part online and since he no longer has the retail location met with him at the Premium Outlet mall in Lutz. It can make you a little nervous to hand your camera over to someone you don;t know and watch them drive away but I had read many positive reviews and speaking with him by phone had put me at ease. My repair was done in a timely manner and at a reasonable price.I am currently in the process of having him do some more work for me and I highly recommend for an honest evaluation and repair of your camera if indicated.
I read the reviews on this mans service. He works out of his home and meets his clients in mall parking lots. I read one review where the person didnt want to leave his device with a stranger, and I can understand that, in these days especially . I needed a Canon lens repaired and Canon wouldnt repair that model anymore. I met Ted at a Starbucks, and he was very professional. He knew instantly what the problem was and repaired and returned the lens to me in 3 days. When he returned it to me, he was satisfied with the stiffness of the focus ring. He took it back to his house, and I checked out a new Aldes. He returned in 40 min and it was working great and to his satisfaction . I cant say enough good about this person. He is meticulous, professional, explained clearly what the problem was, very speedy service, reasonable price, and very trustworthy . I highly recommend his services.
After a bad interaction with buying a new camera lens, I unfortunately needed to repair the lens. After searching the area for repair shops, I came across Cam-Tek. I reached out to them, and was able to get a quick response. The individual who repaired my lens was very professional and responsive. My overall experience was great, and I recommend them to anyone who is looking to repair their camera or lens!!
Tade is very professional and knows what he’s talking about & what he’s doing. I thought i needed my camera lens cleaned & my camera and he met up with me and examined my lens throughly and explained everything in detail.
Ted is skilled, honest, and professional! His experience is evident and he was so helpful. The lens I had could not be repaired, so he directed me to where one was for sale on Ebay at a great price. He cleaned my Nikon and made it like new! If you need camera repair, he is your guy! Great work, fair price.
Excellent ! I tried to clean the sensor on my Canon 5DMKIII. I watched a Youtube video that made it look easy. Instead of cleaning it I made it even dirtier. DONT DO IT. Pay the pro to clean the sensor. It is not worth the aggravation and possible damage to sensor. The turnaround is quick so you wont be without your camera for very long.
Simply the best. He works from home and will meet you somewhere, but your gear is in the best hands and he has been completely professional and trustworthy. Putting a 2000$ lens in his hands didnt worry me a for second.
Theres very few places where you can take a camera to be repaired on site, by someone extremely knowledgeable. This is one of those places. The owner has been able to fix my camera after I have dropped it on not one, but two occasions. Prices are fair for the work being performed. No complaints.
My finance was very pleased with the service She received from this location . The man was very kind & knowledgeable. He researched very hard to find the piece I needed to fix my camera & received & completed very quickly. She can be a little assertive considering She needed the camera quickly without stating.. she read the reviews on google prior to stopping to this location & she stated the owner was very kind & helpful .If you’re looking for a quick cost effective repair, go to this guy! Thank you again camTek!
It was close not there anymore 🤕😭😤
It is a treat to have the availability of a knowledgeable camera repair shop. My experience has been dropped cameras repaired, dropped lenses repaired and overall quality suggestions and recommendations. I believe his pricing is very fair and the quality of work as good as one could expect.
Very rude when I called, sounded like he didn’t care to help me, told me he wasn’t at the Busch location anymore and that he works out of his home in Land O Lakes. Didn’t offer to meet up or anything like other people stated. Just pretty unprofessional overall.
This review is long overdue as I used Cam-Tek in Spring 2019 when i was in Florida visiting my family. As someone else said here, yes it seems strange to meet someone in a parking lot (and as a female, i normally wouldnt recommend this) but I read the reviews here to make sure this was legit. It was!I couldnt have asked for a quicker turnaround. I needed the camera back in a day since i was leaving town shortly and he was able to give it back to me within 24 hours. It was the first time I had gotten my Nikon D3400 cleaned (I didnt want to ruin it by doing it myself), so Cam-Tek cleaned it up and gave it back to me as good as new. No more lens marks on all my pics thanks to Cam-Tek! Additionally, he cleaned my camera body of sand, dust, etc. It looked almost brand new again.Meeting him was easy - I gave him a nearby location in Land O Lakes and he met there at a time of my choosing. Met back at the same place the next day for pick up. Easy process. If you need an affordable & trustworthy camera cleaning for under $100, call them.
If I could give 10 stars, I would. This was literally the best experience I’ve ever had. So being the idiot I am, I dropped my camera in the ocean. I freaked out realizing how bad corrosion effects the camera and practically called him up in hysterics. Not only was the price wonderful, but so was the communication, and kindness. My camera was saved, very little damage, it was cleaned and returned back to me in two days. I cannot thank you for this wonderful experience.
Ok...I get where someone might think it is a bit odd to hand over your favorite camera to someone you dont even know, and who does not have a store front, and meets you in a parking lot somewhere to do a repair transaction...But let me put any suspicions you may have to rest. Ted is the real deal, and in my opinion he is the million dollar man when it comes to camera repair. As an ex-police officer, I must say, I worried at first that this was a bad idea...handing my Nikon D810 off to someone I just met in a parking lot, but Ted was strictly business and tediously professional from the beginning. He knew exactly what to do with my camera and had it back to me within three days, and that was with Thanksgiving right smack in the middle of that time. I thought for sure I was looking at not having my camera working for weeks out. If I had sent it in to Nikon, I am sure that would have been the outcome. Ted fixed it and cleaned it all up for me to where it looks like a brand new camera and works like a charm. To boot, the price was very reasonable, and frankly less than I was expecting it to be. After speaking with Ted during the return of my camera I learned that he has been in business in the Tampa Bay Area for more than 30 years and is a second generation camera repair man. I will not hesitate to bring this man my camera any time there is a need for repairs. Absolutely top notch.
This man is fantastic! I backed over my Nikon D800 with the lens attached and thought it was ruined. Couldnt even see thru the viewfinder. He could have charged me hundreds and Id have been thankful, but charged less than $100 and my camera is good as new! Its been almost a year now and its still working fine.
I used Ted many times and tell you that he is the best camera repair expert you can take your equipment to. Multi talented and extremely sharp. The best you can find. Far better and less expensive than dealing with Nikon or Canon.
My Nikon D90 lens flange broke and my camera stopped focusing when my tripod failed and both landed on hard flooring. He was able to identify the problem in minutes, and told me what to expect and then went onto fix the lens and also the focusing of my camera within a few days and was nice enough to only charge for the lens fix at a fair price. He is definitely my go to guy for future camera repairs. Paid by check since he takes cash or checks only.
I really never write reviews, but I just had to write one as its my only way to thank the person who helped me. I am an amateur and my Nikon suddenly stopped focusing. I was having trouble finding the right help number at Nikon, and was getting frustrated because I couldnt figure out what was wrong. I called this store and the man asked me a few questions on the phone. In just a few minutes he was able to figure out that I had accidentally switched a little switch on the side of the lense. Totally fixed! And it cost me nothing and saved me a trip to the store. Clearly an honest business that respects people and knows their stuff. Thank you!!
I had some dust/debris in the viewfinder of my Nikon camera. My visit to Cam Tek far exceeded my expectations. The camera was immediately taken into the shop and blown out for a complete resolution of my issue within 10 minutes. Excellent customer service !! I would not hesitate to use Cam Tek again in the future and recommend them without reservation.
I wil be honest, I dropped my camera. The lens cover disfigured ad wouldnt work anymore. I brought it to cam-text today and the owner (honestly a gruff man and rough around the edges) told me it was most likely doomed but he would do what he could. He tinkered with it right there at the front counter for half and hour and he worked his magic. He was able to reshape the bent pieces and it works perfectly! I am so excited about it. He does his work because he loves cameras. The one thing you need to know in advance is it is CASH ONLY!Thank you cam-tex. My camera may not have been a big, expensive professional camera but you treated it as though it was!
Worst experience ever had in a retail location. On business trip,Nikon D3100 had a message showing shutter release error and when searching it seems to be a common problem and to remove bottom screws and rotate gear. Since out of town I had no tools and when I went to this store the first thing said was I, dropped it. When I explained the camera has never been dropped owner wanted to argue that the error message could not happen unless dropped. I mentioned all the blogs and videos showing the simple fix but... And he explained that Nikon was not providing parts to US centers which I really find hard to believe. Maybe a bad day but makes me wonder about all the 5-star reviews??? Would not recommend to anyone.
Old school service at the best meaning. Great knowledge, honest, meticulous work. Definitely a keeper.
I went to this shop because the battery of my dslr camera was stuck so the owner was very nice and fixed it in no time, and the best was the very little fee he charged me. Very honest man. Thank you.
Great service, very knowledgeable and prompt turn around time. Im a professional photographer in the area and instead of sending my equipment to Canon I bring it to Cam-Tek. I have been using their services for the past 2 or 3 years and I have been very please with their work. Its great to have someone local instead of sending my camera gear out of state or area. HIGHLY recommend Cam-Tek to anyone that needs camera repair.
Great and honest man, he knows his stuff. Very easy going and patient at explaining the camera issues, even with amateurs like myself.
7-15-16 - I have been using Cam-Tek for all my camera maintenance and repairs for years. I am bringing my Canon 5D Mark III and lens in this Sat to diagnose some issues. It is most likely the focus ring on the lens causing intermittent, blurry images and he assured me that if that is the problem he can repair the ring verses a costly lens replacement of over $1,000. I highly recommend and trust Teds expertise.
Asked about him repairing a lens and he said he only fixes major lens company. This lens is from a major company Nikon and Canon are not the only major companies so right there I knew he wasnt t that knowledgeable. The lens only need a screw tighten. So I told him I would send it to a major dealer and repair shop then like B&H photo in New York. He probably not authorized to work on the lenses he fix so be careful of these kinds of places
Very skilled technician, I think overall hes friendly and straight to the point. He fixed my old Leica lens and camera with very fair price.
Brought my nikon camera, my flash was stuck. They fixed it and price was not too bad. Thank you
I had been looking for a specific screw around the nation for about 1 month. After calling around and even speaking to NIKON Canada, i felt hopeless. I ran into Cam Tek in the internet and gave them a call. I dealt with Ted, he let me know that he would be in on his day off which was Monday and to feel free to stop by when ever I got a chance. Not only was he able to provide me with great service, he also found the screw I needed and installed it for me, free of charge. This experience has made be become loyal to this shop, all future repairs will go through here as there isnt many people like Ted left.
An excellent example of exquisite workmanship. Saved me hundreds of dollars fixing cameras and lenses others said could only be replaced.
Ted rules how did he only get 4.9 Honest knowledgeable always come through No question give him the business
Awesome repair service! Very helpful in explaining the problem with a lens that I had dropped and he was able to repair at a fraction of the cost of a new lens.
The owner so kind and helpful! The world needs more people like this! Thank you
I had a Mark II CF prong bent inside the camera...he patched it up in no time. I was ready to buy a used Mark II lol. If you dont have time to mail crap off to Canon and do with bad customer service..this is your guy.
These guys are really good....great service
No one can seem to update their address. They lost business.
I take all my cameras here to have their sensors cleaned. I couldnt imagine taking them anywhere else.
70-200mm lenses was sticking. Thank you for fixing.
Shop permanently closed but the owner picks the call and sees customers at star bucks
