Never had the briyani in this way. This is just the boiled goat pieces with boiled briyani rice as goat pepper fry briyani and boiled briyani rice as well as boiled eggs as egg briyani. And this is not cooked on the day we ordered at least, may be day or two days back cooked, because after we brought it to house with in next 2-3 hrs there was rotten smell. And when we called this was response “it is same briyani what we serve for our customers” thank you Indian spice for your hospitality on this.
India Spice House used to be a nice place l. But recently, specifically post covid situation it has become a restaurant where YOU SHOULD NOT GO OR ORDER FROM.With past experience we have ordered and in all instances experiences are horrible.1. SPOILED RICE (That could make us sick and not sure how the restaurant is maintaining the food safety standard)2. Overly spicy food in spite of instructing3. Non edible daal due to quality4. Giving incorrect item and also with reduced quantity (it looked like just some leftover is put).5. Increased price and degraded qualityJust attaching one picture of order of chicken fried rice and receiving less quantity veg fried rice.Time to correct if they dont want to meet the fate of several other indian restaurants who started well but then ran out of business.
This is an unreliable business that chooses to not have the proper number of staff working to take care of customers. They have not improved this in the past year.Used to be a decent place. Still has good food, but it is a struggle to actually obtain the food. The past three times I have gone to this restaurant I have waited 35+ minutes to get what I ordered. They continually dont have enough staff working to take care of their customers.
Worst EGG BIRYANI we ever had from India Spice. I order Egg BIRYANI but received chicken pieces from the biryani. I am a person who never eat meat. The biryani was made from the previous day and i think they just heated it and gave to me. Typically it was just a regular colored basmati rice with boiled eggs and chicken.
It used to be a nice and decent restaurant but nowadays there are lot of bugs in the restaurant and management is still running their operations without fixing the bugs issue. We ordered the food for dine in but due to bugs, i asked cashier about this issue he said the bugs are there from last 1month onwards they don’t even bothering about bugs. In front of me so many children’s eating the food even bugs lying down there in their plates kids don’t know about it. We don’t know how they maintaining in kitchen place and cleaning area. If they don’t take care of bugs they should close restaurant. They are taking 18$ for buffet but very maintenance so many bugs are falling on the buffet food. I hope restaurant management will see this review and take good care of customers healths other than profits.
The best goat dum biryani in town! I am originally from Hyderabad, so I do appreciate good biryani. I have gotten biryani from this place numerous times. The taste and quality is very consistent. The quality of goat being used is excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Ordered through Doordash and received spoiled food the rice was very hard and not cooked all the way. I made a huge mistake of ordering extra rice for $5 that I also had to throw away because it was hard as a rock definitely not edible. I was missing two curries as well. Like other customers I also ordered later in the evening and received spoiled food this seems to be an issue everyone else is facing as well. The green chutney had no flavor at all. I ordered two yogurt sauces thinking they would give me more but they gave me two very tiny containers for $4. I would recommend Indian Palace instead way better food and customer service. I will not be ordering from here anymore very disappointed.
Food was good, but it took over an hour to receive our order. You need to be honest exactly how long it will take...
We had a couple of functions for an organization that I volunteer with. I had reached out to Vamsi, owner of India Spice House. Vamsi is a delight to work with. Our demands were high maintenance, there were food restrictions and on top of it we kept changing the number of people that will be attending until the last day and Vamsi was very accommodating. The quality of food was excellent. There were six different times that he catered the food during these two sessions and I received good reviews every time. India Spice House is also very generous with their serving sizes. Overall an excellent experience. In the past, Vamsi has helped us in a number of occasions and his service has always been top notch - good food and on time deliveryWe have also enjoyed the food at his restaurant. Every dish we have tried has been excellent.
I want sure about the palak paneer. This is my test for Indian places. Looked like baby food butt it was actually good. Would definer eat there again
Found insect in the biryani and be careful while ordering late in the evening as it be a spoiled one. Watch your plates and glass because they don’t wash it properly.
Great stuff. Goat curry. Garlic naan. Chicken Korma.
Forget about taste of the food, this is the first ever restaurant that I experienced that has a very strict policy about closing and not honoring the customers that may come last minute. We reached restaurant at 8:35 and restaurant takes last order at 8:45 and the server was literally standing next to us to give the order within 2mins… if not, he said the food will not be made :0… why would you even let customers in when you cannot serve the food and give enough time for them to go through the menu? By the way it sounded about strict policy, I strongly recommend you to solve your problems between kitchen staff and front end staff… this won’t look well for customers and isn’t healthy for any business (not that it matters to me as a customer)… You should probably close restaurant doors at 8:30 and take last call for orders… Also, dude do you live in Alaska? Who closes any restaurant at 8:45 when it is still not dark? Forget about even thinking about your restaurant name another time… Thanks for giving me taste of worst hospitality and customer service
Awesome food. Super slow service!! Reminds me of a Jamaican restaurant. Plan for two hours minimum if dining in.
Very good south Indian food. Different from most Indian restaurants. Well worth a visit.
Fantastic food. Boneless Chicken Biriyani was very juicy and the rice was cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend this place 👍
Takes 45 mins to prepare pick up order yet stale food? Dont know if it is all dishes or just the ones i order. The restaurant is consistent, in providing not so fresh food. Buffet used to be good so 1 star for that
I don’t suggest biryani from this place.Response from the management is not at all good way, when we complain about food quality.
Great food with an extensive menu. Its a popular place, so be patient with the service. The menu offers vegey only items. The portions are generous, so it can be shared members of your party. Free parking lot. The parking lot could be busy, but if wait a bit a spot will open up. You can order your meal and pick it up at the restaurant.
Some of the best Indian food Ive had in Minnesota. Huge menu with large portions and decent prices. We had so much food, I brought home enough food for two more meals. Had some great food. Garlic Naan, Peshawari naan, vegetable samosas, lemon rice, butter chicken, chicken Dum Biryani and Bengali Gulab Jamun. Always nice to have the grocery store next door too. Went there to grab some things after.
This place is not a customer centric at all. We were there for dinner on friday and event after waiting for 45 mins for the food to arrive, these guys did not have any courtsey to talk to customer. When i asked, he was selfish enough to say, ”we are short of staff and a party is going on” so it will take time.Striking off forever!!
WARNING - SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME! Orders are NEVER ready when they are supposed to be! I have placed pickup orders and it turns into an hour plus wait beyond their projected timeline. Today we ordered at 449pm, and were given a 25 minute timeframe. We did not get our food until 605pm. We were not the only unhappy people. This is a reoccurring theme and it is why we will never spend our money there again. When you ask for an update “just a few more minutes”. It’s ridiculous. I’ll never return! TERRIBLE AND UNAPOLOGETIC
This is historically a good restaurant. Went there after the covid restrictions were lifted. Pretty decent still. However please note, schezwan rice shouldnt have peas and please no egg in Veg Biryani. These are basics, seemed like some kids are working in the kitchen. Hopefully things will be better next time.Thank you.
Great veg samosas were made fresh on Saturday evening at 5.40pm cst when I bought them. I wish they also made chicken samosas. The fried green chilies with copious amounts of salt was just right for the spicy chillies with the samosas, but the chilies are too spicy for non Indians. The size of the samosas were not too small nor too big each one was $1.00, the outside was just crisp n hot.
Looks like I discovered a Gem of a Indian Restaurant.Food is super. Taste is Authentic. Ambiance is Warm. Service bit Slow but cordial. We ordered: Mirchi Baggi, Chilli Chicken, Mutton Biryani, Chicken Biryani.Mutton Biryani is the best. Dont compare it with Hyderabad Paradise Biryani, but it is one of the best in MN. A bit milder version. Will visit again!
They do have lots of groceries items also vegetables however their restaurant has stale food. I will never recommend to get food from here. We order biriyani 2-3 times n every time it was stale n smell bad. When I called them as usual they never accepted. Please save your time n money choose another option for Indian food.
If you want some good indian dishes you must try the restaurant. We tried some south indian dishes and those are very good. Prices are reasonable and food quality is really good and tasty.
I really liked their dosa, we also tried their noodles - took us back to Chennai indo- Chinese noodles days! Unforgettable taste. Hubby tried chole bature that was good as well.Their idli was sadly too much of a letdown, for a South Indian restaurant I was shocked that they had used Eno and it tasted terrible! They close early so keep that in mind when you plan a trip. I will most Definitely will be back again. Please don’t go down on your quality.
Visited recently with family n friends, hated how the vegetable biryani was it just had jeera n rice and the baby corn Manchuria was equally worst, was just corn dipped in ketchup ☹️☹️very very bad . They have renovated the interiors very well but food taste has gone worst. Never expected this from spice house .
If you’re thinking about ordering food for take out or delivery make sure you aren’t hungry when you place the order. It takes so long that that one might wonder if they slaughter the goats and chickens on site prior to preparation. Never again!
The Quality of food drastically changing nowadays. I have ordered biryani and it was not Tasty and not hot ..!!
The food I had tasted flavorful, except a little salty.
Went to the grocery shop next to the restaurant. Its not the biggest indian shopping place there, but they had all the necessary things with reasonable price. Some of the items were marked much lower compared to other indian stores around that area.
Delicious food, good service, they keep the area clean and there is olso a grocery store were you can find allot of spices and fresh vegetables they Sale Samusas on Weekends. $ .99 I highly recommend this restaurant and take a look in the store you will get amazed with all the products they have. ⭐🌟🌟🌟🌟
We visited first time. Good shop..
Very good food. Loved the tandoori chicken.
My complaint is on the india spice house grocery store right next to india spice house restaurant.Me and my family visited there to buy some groceries. We got some dryfruits and vegetables from there. Today when we get a chance to open the pistachio packet we found many insects inside the packet and spider-webs all over the packet inside. My son was in hurry and has eaten few of the pistachios. I hope he won’t become ill due to this. If he does, then am going to sue this place and owners for this kind of maintaining products. We have proof of images.
One of the best Indian places I ever visited in Minneapolis. Just love the food.
First and foremost I LOVE this place. I’ve been coming here for almost 10 years and they never fail to disappoint. As a white man who has eaten Indian food since I was 4-5 years old I’ve developed a liking and high standards for Indian cuisine and this place hits it on the dot! My only reasons for not giving A 5-star is the abrupt removal of of my favorite appetizer (paneer pakora) and that the last 3 times I’ve gone they were out of dosa which is a bit shocking... not to mention you guys almost let me eat a staple in the butter chicken (which is not transparent and poses a risk) but hey water under the bridge. Nonetheless the food is cooked to perfection the flavor is amazing and perfect for cold Minnesota winters. Not to mention the very friendly staff. Overall this place is just a great spot for high quality Indian food and I would highly encourage anyone who likes Indian food to give this place a try!
Came here to pick up food for Doordash delivery. The line was somewhat long but that was not the problem. The problem is they won’t serve you or even talk to you unless you are extremely pushy and force your way into speaking with the reception person.I walked in and waited patiently in line until I finally made it to the front where absolutely no one acknowledged my existence, every time I went up to talk to them they walked away or would say “The order is coming” and disappear never to be seen again. Ended up wasting over an hour of prime Doordash dinner rush because they only talk to pushy customers who force themselves to the front of the line. The only way I got my order was to basically yell that I waited over an hour at the front of the line and they were utterly ignoring me. Basically, I had to become pushy myself because otherwise they ignored me. Never been to a restaurant with such horrible organization and service.I understand they were busy, but an hour waiting for a pickup is completely ridiculous
Food was.not not very tasty.
Use grocery service and had been a good experience. Restaurant always used take out service- good service and delicious food.
Visited last Thursday for dinner, in our food we got a big hard raw seed of something ( looks like raw almond ) that almost broke my sons jaw. When reported the waiter was very rude, unapologetic and tried to explain that its normal.....looks like we will never eating at this restaurant again with all this choking hazards in the food.
Quality and taste of food is great. Noticed in the receipt the tax amount was really high ~12%. When checked, we were informed that they included covid surcharge. We are always supportive of local farms, local mom n pop restaurants, etc., But what made us to write the review is the way they handled the covid surcharge. It is perfectly legal for restaurants to charge covid fees but we strongly believe they should inform the customers before they process our credit card during payment. Customers should be able to make informed decisions and not like only inform customers when they look into receipt after payment and ask. Again, we completely understand and support local business during covid but at the same time we dont want sneaky charges on our to go orders. Hopefully the management change this business practice. Thanks. Another user also complained about not incoming behavior in these reviews.
Well, I did like this place. Ordered Tikka Masala tonight like I always get. Completely full of bell peppers. I have never in my life had bell peppers in my Tikka Masala, much less giant chunks of it. It is now 4 in the morning and Ive been up all night dealing with the allergic reaction, so thanks for that. You need to list the ingredients on your menu as I would have totally avoided the meal if I had known it was made with bell peppers.
Yum. We love the butter chicken, naan, and everything else here!
Awesome selection. Not busy for dine in since Covid. Extremely tasty. Highly recommend biryani but really never had anything less than delicious
I have been going to this restaurant for 5 years now. Initially they were good but now they are very bad. I ordered like one hour early and they didn’t even take my order. Never going there again.
Im updating my rating and comments... In a way as a resident of Eden Prairie I feel proud to say that India Spice House is the best Indian restaurant in the twin cities... Unmatched service with excellent quality of food... Addition to their menu is the cauliflower pepper dry. A must try for all vegetarians 😊
I was here for the first time dining in to try this place out. Looking through the menu it was pricier than most places Ive been to. The food was excellent couldnt complain about that. However, there was one thing in the receipt that made me think twice before coming back. There was a 4% Covid-19 surcharge to the total bill. Not only is the meal already pricey but the extra 4% made it hard to come back to support their business, not to say that businesses should do the best they can to lure customers in to dine. What makes it worse is that if you order to go the 4% Covid-19 surcharge will still be there. I happened to asked them to make sure that was true. It took me awhile to write a review for this restaurant because I wanted to try other restaurants if they were adding the Covid-19 surcharge as well. I couldnt find any yet that I went. So just to be aware before you choose this restaurant.
If you love authentic Biryani, india spice is the place to try. I have been ordering here for multiple years and the taste and authenticity of Biryani hasn’t changed. I have enjoyed Chicken Dum Biryani, chicken 65 Biryani and cashew chicken biryani. They have specials over weekend and worth trying. Weekends are extremely busy and wait times are over an hour and hence plan accordingly.
Excellent food. The servers can be inattentive
Decent food, very Slow service!
Good place to shop Indian groceries and eat Indian food. Friendly staff and tasty food. This area is quickly turning out to be a great spot for Indian food & groceries. Theres pizza karma right next to this place and infamous Godavari restaurant is opening soon across the road from this store/restaurant.
Great authentic southeast Indian cuisine with Dosa
Food quality reduced a lot from last few months. Today we ordered biryani bucket and it’s the worst experience I had with india spice house. Biryani with lots of oil. Also the rice is like kichidi.I used to feel like India spice house is the best restaurant in Minneapolis, but it’s not the case now. I’m editing my review rating to 3* earlier I gave 5*Faced the similar problems for all the orders we placed from last 3 months and finally posting this review
It is clear to see why India Spice is the local leader in Indian cuisine- the variety is good and the consistency of quality is near excellent. They have their shortcomings, but hey, everyone does. Never had a negative experience. I don’t think they need to raise the prices again, however. 🕉
I came here with my family for dine-in. I randomly picked the boneless fried chicken appetizer (can’t spell the real name), and it was FANTASTIC. I have a weak spice tolerance, but even though it was spicy it was too good to stop! My mom got the goat curry, which was fantastic, as well as my dads chicken tikka masala. I really enjoyed the butter chicken, and their garlic naan was so fresh. Definitely will be returning!
Try Hyderabadi Tawa Machali. Its so delicious😋
I ordered Romali rotti but they gave me tandoori nan, when I called and asked him he told it is a fault while taking order and they cannot do any thing. Both side dish chicken tikka masala and mutton chukka are salty. My new year plan got spoiled, disappointed the way people behaved and not bothered about customer experience.
The Grocery store is great. Lot of organic options and virtually you get everything you can think of. Well stocked always and mostly maintained very well. The restaurant has been a bit disappointment lately. Not sure if its the impact due to COVID or other competition, but both the taste and service has detoriated over the last few months. Have tried ordering food several times for delivery. Either the mess up the order or it doesnt taste the same. Once we had to recook the biriyani to make it taste like biriyani and one other time a chicken 65 order came as a wet saucy chicken!! That was the last we ordered from the restaurant. Thats the reason I clipped one star from the rating now.
As good as it gets for Indian food, especially when you are craving for something from back home. Has your typical desi menu, comparable to a Hyderabad House (the chain in India)
Very good food, friendly staff and good portions for the price.
We pulled up 30 minutes before they closed. I saw the guy inside watch us arrive and he came and locked the door and turned off the open sign. Not worth me going back to try this place.
Variety of Indian spices and fresh produce. Try also carry a good variety of ready to eat frozen or over the shelf foods and snacks. The restaurant next door is one of the best authentic food you can eat in MN
This is only about the store. Good and consistent selection of provision staples. Produce depends on the day of the week - call ahead for availability.
I have tried this place 4 times now. Every time I have had issues with the service. At a couple of instances the staff was almost rude. The only reason I have gone back is the food. The taste and quality is really good and the buffet variety I value for money. The ambience Is decent for a casual meal.
The smell of the spices is amazing! Very authentic food selection.
We get al.ost all Indian groceries, veggies at nominal price... Also restaurant recipes are good
New chef, better food. Lets keep aside the ambience, atmosphere and yeah improved taste, kudos to the chef, but i think the management dealing with the to-go order needs to improve their hearing skills.Second time in a row, wrong order, no spice even though repeatedly requesting for it. A strong NO for to-go orders.Yeah, the food quality did improve.
Appetizer and curries are good. But biryani atleast keep effort to mix rice with masala. It is clearly Pressure cooker rice, added curry on top.
Decent place to go for evening snacks or dinner. Reasonably priced menu. Staff members are courteous and friendly. There’s Indian groceries next to the restaurant to buy Indian groceries conveniently. I am yet to try their buffet lunch.
The grocery store is clean and organized. Very large selection of product on the shelves, fresh vegetables and frozen/refrigerated goods. I was very impressed.
Food getting late always
This spot is my favored. I visit many restaurants but to this one I constantly return again and again. The team is very professional and the cooking they place on your table is so good. I am always happy to have a good meal here. I highly recommend this place.
They should need to review the menu. Peas pulav, it doesnt tastes good . People expect at least better taste
Yesss this is some good Indian food. I went for the lunch buffet and left very full and happy. Good selection of dishes to please any crowd. Staff were very friendly and quick to clean up dishes or provide water refills. Would definitely go back.
Not bad
As always best indian food in Eden Praire.
The grocery store is awesome
I have been visiting this restaurant very regularly and i would for sure recommend this restaurant to all the people in Minnesota. Food is really Good and the quality is very well maintained. Mr.Vijay is one of the finest person in the restaurant and is always energetic.Good to see people like him when you enter into a restaurant. Not to forget the people behind the scenes( CHEFS). Keep up the Good WORK !!!!!Drawbacks: This restaurant should make sure that they try to experiment spreading their menu and sometimes this stops me ordering the food from this restaurant.Overall a pretty happy satisfied feeling with the quality of food .Importantly they do not use too much of Colors in the food
The food itself was fine, not exceptional but not poor. However- I ordered and didnt receive all the dishes i ordered, which is fine, it happens. However, after re-ordering the dishes i did not receive the first time, they delayed the simple order by over an hour, then made one of the dishes but said they closed their kitchen for the night so they couldnt complete the order, even though at this point my food had been ordered almost a full 2 hours before they closed. Not sure what happened, but it seemed to be very poor service.
Best bakery in town. I come here for all of my baked good needs. Carly was extremely helpful and kind. Will be coming back for years to come.
Very tasty food and great service. Usually many Indian restaurants cannot prepare awesome mutton. They are exception. Their mutton gravy as well as mutton biryani was exceptional. They had good course for buffet and I couldnt name any dish bad. We loved the place.
I had a great time at this place. We loved the amazing ambience and the menu. The staff members were very affable. I am glad we finally managed to eat here.
I visit this place a lot since I work right next to it. I have to say their service is always good and they keep the spot well kept at all times. Rates are convenient and they serve generous portions.
Delicious food and good service!
Food is good service not so much. If they tell you it will be ready in 20 minutes be prepared for 40 minutes.
