Fantastic art store and local! Always greeted when we enter. They have serious art supplies from pens, pencils, paper, canvases, print making supplies, and crafting supplies. On this visit I was with my daughter. She got airbrush supplies and we bought some Mircron pens for a new friend. This place is a treat for the artist and anyone curious about creative possibilities.

Fun store with a lot of great arts and craft supplies. Employees were welcoming and offered assistance and checked up on us multiple times. Surprisingly for a specialty shop the prices were very competitive and made the trip from up north worth it. Again, fun store and worth a stop if youre in the area.

The only place nearby that carries a solid book binding section AND beautiful papers. THANK YOU!! I was honestly so excited.

This is our absolute favorite place for creative supplies. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, locally owned and it just feels good to be inside. Plus, to the best of my knowledge, the owner isn’t a billionaire religious homophobe and has never smuggled Biblical artifacts on a plane like SOME arts and craft stores around.This spot is the tops.

Since it opened I have shopped there many, many times. This past month Im exploring oil paints; something I havent used since I was 16. The staff takes the time to be helpful. They look up specs from the manufacturer to help one make a decision on what to purchase. They are always friendly, wear a smile and are helpful. If they dont know the answer to a question they will seek another employee who does or look it up. I find their service, attitude and knowledge so exemplary that it would take a lot to make me shop elsewhere. Go here first. Theyll probably have what you seek. Someone mentioned their prices might be higher than national chain stores on some items; and that may be true, but I love supporting this business. Tacoma has needed a good art store for a long time. Keep up the good work!

Nice store but very small. Minimal stock on hand beyond a few basic colors. Not sure if they have an online store or not - no one offered & I ended up buying from Blick.Its fine if youre a new painter or you just need to restock the basics. Otherwise youll need to make a trip to Seattle or shop online.

People were friendly and helpful. Told them I was replicating a Bob Ross and helped me get the right paint and brushes!

I will never give this place any money. After being kicked out for talking back to the employee because I first refused to put my mask over my nose and then complied. After complying I mentioned covid survival rate, I was then met with threats of calling the police. These same people fit the profile of the defund police movement, yet first thing they do is threaten to have me removed by cops. I shopped at artist and craftsman for 6 years, I am done with this business and will never shop at any location of there’s again. They are overpriced anyway and the spray paint selection was meager and not well stocked. Glad I saved money.

The store is really fun to shop at. I’m always coming home with things I didn’t go in there for. They also have a student discount which is a huge bonus

OMG!!! My daughter sent me pics of a few items that she thought I was looking for...then texted me about this amazing store...that I had to see. Thos went on for about a month...finally we checked it out!!! Its the best!!! For an artist or crafter...this store is like... Christmas Morning!! Seriously... It is so great. I keep going back...They have beautiful paper...art supplies...pens and pencils of every brand and color!!! You can buy by the set...or individually. This isnt the cheapest store...and they dont have regular running sales...like a hobby lobby...but they do have many things that you cant find in regular craft stores. And they do run sales from time to time...the most recent I bought from qas when they had the sketch books 50% off. Such a great deal!

Cool store. Had A LOT of different art items. My daughter requested to go there today. She was looking for very specific art items and found exactly what she wanted and needed here. Store Id super big, employees were welcoming and helpful. Prices seemed to be average for what they had. They even had a large selection of fun specialty items too. Socks, Crystals, fun items with quotes and sayings. Definitely will shop here again.

Exactly what the name implies. An outstanding selection of tools and supplies from a wide array of different arts and crafts. The staff is equally impressive, consisting of nothing but friendly and knowledgeable individuals. Even if traffic in the area may be a deterrent, this store is worth the trip. For those with an interest in picking up a new skill or a regular need for quality supplies, I would always recommend this humble shop.

What a neat place! I went there for some gifts for my family and I was amazed by the sheer volume of speciality craft supplies. While the store wasnt meant for someone like me (see: not crafty), I can totally appreciate the quality of not only the products and the personnel running the shop. I was very impressed by the knowledge base and the willingness to guide me through the different sections and helping with finding a perfect gift. Would recommend to crafty and non-crafty alike.

Not artistic myself, but the staff was extremely helpful to my SO, offered to contact an Italian paper-maker to help locate the particular paper she was looking for, and contacted her with an update the next day (the paper was discontinued). There is a wealth of artist supplies and signs about classes. All in all, much better than a Michaels.

Im not much of an artist, but I can still appreciate this well-stocked store. If I do decide to take up a paint brush and canvas, I definitely know where to come. Canvases in so many sizes. Rows and rows of paint indifferent types and quality, for beginners and advanced.Fun gift section at the very front of the store, with toys, greeting cards, and humor gifts.Helpful staff brought me directly to the place where I needed to find some spray glue. Prices were reasonable. Even carried some school supplies.Ill definitely be returning here.

Incredibly helpful and very knowledgeable staff. Fantastic selection of products for all skill levels. And they will happily make special orders, to boot. Even if you arent crafty the have a gorgeous selection of cards, coloring books, and small gifts. A perfect place to pick up a last minute birthday gift. Their funky vintage building and the two story mural overlooking the free parking lot are the icing on the cake. Pretty much everything you could hope for in an art supply shop.

Hands down my favorite art supply store!

When I moved here from Colorado It was really hard to find a good art place that sold a high-quality amount of art supplies for a decent price. I was extremely pleased when I ran across this gem. It is a massive store and theres so much to look at and I absolutely love their sales. Cheap local and convenient.

I came in with three others and enjoyed the impressive variety of supplies for both arts and crafting. It’s difficult finding the better artist grade supplies but you can find them here open stock! This store is a well hidden gem! Get it the same day and know what your getting~move aside Amazon

This is a great art supply store! They have everything that you could want, and its organized in an artist-intuitive manner. It feels like the opposite of corporate!!

Love this place, always friendly staff, who are willing to help you with your needs, and know what you are talking about when you ask them a question about the products. Pricing is always good, much better than the bigger competitors and they have hard to find items. Wish there was a location down near Olympia, however if you are in the Tacoma area and youre an artist, check this place out.

Amazing array of choices and items that Ive never seen before. However some of the staff werent that knowledgeable on the supplies. After asking a few employees I finally got helpful advise.

Great people work there, they remind me of me about a hundred years ago. They dont have everything I need, but they sure are my go-to place for most stuff. Less expensive, too.

The clerks here are very friendly and knowledgeable. I have found all sorts of hard-to-find supplies here. The prices are very good and they have sales too. I am lucky to have it right in my neighborhood. Plus, they are dog-friendly!

Wow! Amazing service. Came here for some colored pencils and a sharpener. The sales clerk patiently explained different brands and price points. Also explained the 2 barrel sharpeners to make pencils last longer. Had quite a variety of everything art.

Outstanding depth of selection in a well laid-out store. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I love shopping here and find that even if certain items might be cheaper at an online retailer, the value of seeing the items in person in this charming brick and mortar store is well worth the few cents extra you might pay. Love this place. There are lots of neat little things around the front of the store. Cards, socks, stickers, other random silly things. The real meat of the store is of course the art supplies, of which they have a great selection. Lots of nice paper as well.

There is none better in Tacoma for arts and crafts supplies. A large novelty toy section and masks were pleasant surprises. Prepackaged supplies for classes at local schools. All reasonably priced. The building alone, is worth the trip to see. You wont be disappointed.

Theres something very mid-90s about the aesthetics of this place. It sits casually, with one foot tucked under the other knee, leaning forward so far its elbows hang beyond its folded shin. It wears a fuzzy purple croptop sweater and oversized Doc Martins. It smokes clove cigarettes while reading a xerox zine.This is the seminal art supply shop in Tacoma. It is well stocked and well organized. There are seminars held occasionally by visiting authorities of various disciplines. The staff are helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and intimidatingly cool. They carry a vast array of paper sizes, weights, types, and colors. They carry unstretched canvas. Whatever you want, you can get it or have it ordered here. Bring the kids! There is a fascinating section of retro inspired items for children, both young and old. Dont forget to check out the loft upstairs for frames and model supplies.Dont miss this place. Its a gem.

This was my first visit to this store. The reason for 2 stars is because an employee made me feel as though he was following me around the store which made me feel as though I wasnt trusted. That reason alone is why I didnt purchase anything. I might be back, if I feel like being followed....
