We always find here what were looking for. The staff is so friendly and they usually have enough stock of any item you need. This is our favorite sports goods store:)

They had a good selection of casual shoes. I found a nice pair on sale right away. I even found matches in the camping section.

Most of their gun collections are actually airsoft. Ammo pretty expansive considering they are a big box store. No staff greeting me (they are chatting near the cash registry) while I m looking through their guns.

Its a nice sized store. Not big as some of the other big 5 stores Ive been too. Alot of items but the summer season section was kinda empty. The staff looked like zombies. We were looking at swimming gear like life jackets and shoes and no one really approached us or asked if we needed help. Maybe they were short staffed or just busy I dont know. We walked around the store into different areas and no different. We found what we needed and got out. Would I come back? If I had no other choice, yes.

Didnt realize there was still a huge big 5 around. This store reminds me of the stores I use to go into as a kid. They have it all and plenty of room to display it. Everyone in the store was super helpful. Next trip to Big-5 will definitely be here. Got some good basketball shoes on sale.

I always love coming here! The price is right, the quality of products acceptable, and quite often they have hiking boots/shoes for sale, at 50% at that!What a bargain!I love camping/ hiking and walking! As a bike rider, I often find accessories, and fairly cheap at that! Never leaving the store empty handed, has become a way of life, when coming to visit this perticular Big 5 Sporting Goods store in San Mateo.The staff is friendly and always ready to assist or help with anything!!! Been coming here for years, and do not anticipate for this to change any time soon!!!Thank you!

I bought a pair of shoes and brought back to exchange for a different size. I used a coupon. I was expecting an even exchange. However, the first pair was discounted because it didnt have a box. So i lost both the coupon price and had to pay the difference. Not customer satisfaction oriented.

Not very nice experience, the dude who is supposed to help, was mainly busy with the phone, and when reached the cash counter, told cant you read the board, counter closed... he should stand near where it is open register, instead of telling customer to read the board, or talk politely

Love Big 5 they always have good deals

Store was well stocked on mens and womens apparel and across all other departments as well. However, when it came to the sizes for mens clothing, they had very little in the way of XL and XXL for theyre Carhartt, Dickies and Wolverine displays.

Stopping people at the door over an hour before closing telling people they are closed and being rude to customers trying to walk in. If you are closed maybe close the store lock the door and call it a night not stand In the door and act like that.

I went here to buy micro spikes as I saw that it was available on their website at this store. But I was told that since it is off season they dont have it for sale right now. Very disappointed.

Several days later, after I had made my purchase, I called into the store and spoke with Yaw, a customer service representative, who was very knowledgeable, provided me with alternatives to my issue and truly cared. Big 5 Sporting Goods in Sunnyvale is my favorite!!!!! Its distance is a little further for me to travel to than other Big 5 Sporting Good Stores, but their exquisite customer service, array of sporting goods and a apparel makes every trip worth it!

The Walmart of sporting goods! You can find great products here that are maybe not top brands, but meet your needs and save you lots of money. Sometimes you can find real bargains. This is my goto place before I go to Dick’s or online.

Its a good place to shop for sporting goods

Got our kids soccer cleats and matching shin guards from here for around $40 with sales going on, which was a good buy.The cleats were a bit small so we went back to exchange for a bigger size the next day, and the people at the stores were helpful, especially the lady at the cash counter was very friendly to us, luckily they had the size that we wanted and it was huzzle free!

Disappointing. Dont get me wrong I love big 5. But with this epidemic it was not good. In Google it was saying it was opened however in reality they are still closed. I really wasted my gas. Then I tried to order on line and all the selections I chose were either out of stock on line or you would have to purchase that item in store one. Yet they advertise that they deliver, or have curb side pickup. Neither existed for me. I am really disappointed. Oh well I saved about a $100. Or so that day. Too bad guys.

Its a good store for bargains and camping equipment in decent prices.and also they have good coupons to use - look for them online.however if you are looking to buy the latest high-end sports clothing & shoes, Id look on another place.

Decent selection of sporting goods. Went here for some ammo for ducks during the season when everywhere else was sold out. Was able to get a couple boxes of number 3 shot when no one else in the area had any. Staff was quick and friendly to help me

Just bought a pair of boots s&w coyotes 99.99 on 9/15/19. According to the sales paper posted at front and rear of store with at least 50 sales papers at both stand they were on sale on 9/14 which I didnt notice the date on the paper that should have been removed at the latest morning of 9/15..the clerk said nope sales ended basically oh well I mentioned manager he made no attempt at getting me one..I am handicapped and use these boots for my impairment in place of a brace so I had no choice but to buy them.One employee was some what helpful but the rest just bounce around like zombies not doing anything in your very messy store had to move several items from the main isle just to walk on my Canadian crutches almost fell in back of store due to merchandise everywhere its not about the money its about customer service which I noticed very little.

Good shoe selection for under $50 friendly service.

Im amazed this store and Big 5 in general is in business at all. I went in today to grab a workout outfit. The selection was abysmal. I went back to the shoe section and there is one tiny section of shoes for women and a large section for men. At least 3 employees were yukking it up amongst themselves at the front of the store and no one greeted me or came back to the shoe section where I was perusing. I took a shoe up front and asked the unfriendly chap at the register to scan it to see if it was on sale. He did. It wasnt. He handed it back without saying would you like me to get something for you to try on? He rang up what I had without any pleasantries, in fact, he was fairly unpleasant. At the same time a guy walked in and asked for mit oil and the employees pointed in a general direction but were less than helpful or friendly. TRAIN your people. There is nothing at all redeeming about this store. I wont go back, oh, except to return what I bought because the more I thought about the place the more I dont want them to have my $$.

I came by to renew my hunters license. No waiting in line, the store only had a few customers.

Came by to buy ski goggles and gloves. They carried a good selection of brands and prices. Store was somehow organized. A lot of sales going on and great prices. I found some nice gloves in good deals. Service was quick with no mistake. Not bad.

This store has been here forever. I come here once a year for new shoes. Customer Service has been consistently great. The sales are always good and with the $10off coupon, well it just made it all around fantastic visit. I was looking for nylon type sweat pants but sadly they dont carry them. But they have everything else! See yall again next year

We bought a couple of shorts marked at 7.99 and we were charged 8.99. My daughter went back for a refund and the cashier corrected for one with a rude - this saves you $1.09. Well, I want to teach my daughter every dollar counts. Also - you refunded for only one short. So I went again to ask as to what about refund for the other short and their system crashed. After waiting for 10 mins, I decided to leave. Online shopping is so much better; I can pay extra for the convenience of Amazon!

Amazing fox gear

For camping gear, Id recommend Super Walmart as the items are less picked over and less dirty. The store smelled like a car parts shop. However, some unique offerings not stocked by Walmart nor REI may be worth a look. Some of the sleeping bags for sale looked obviously worn or used.

We were shopping for shoes for our 16 year old grandson. Big 5 had a great sale and we bought two pair of great shoes for him to wear to school. Did not break the bank.

Im not feeling well today but the guy who helped me (I forgot his name) IS AWESOME! I bought the first and only pair of shoes he brought me! Im back in bed recovering. WOOHOO! Killer customer service! I highly recommend shopping there.

I went in for hiking boots. They didnt have the size I wanted on display and it was like pulling teeth to get the sales associate to go do a check for me in the back even though he wasnt busy. I could tell I was inconveniencing him (from his job???) They didnt have my size in womens so I asked if he could recommend what size in mens I would wear. He wasnt sure so I googled it and found something that worked. However, I had to make him go in the back again (the horror!) However, as it got near closing, 3 people came to me to let me know. Not to ask if they could help me find something. Anyway, I eventually left with what I needed at a great price.

Barely able to walk, I came here looking for a unique size, style and color shoe. The store was cleaned and organized, but the service was not exactly the most helpful. A salesperson, Gérard greeted me but did not seem to eager to assist me. He was dismissive and not interested in making a sale. It was very uncomfortable.Will never return.Dewayne

Best value for your money. Ive been shopping here for decades. Tightly packed store but easy to navigate. Less selection but good value on shoes. If your size is not here, ask about their other stores.

The guys working here are a bunch of morons and are rude. They obviously have no other skills other than drawing a paycheck. They need to be replaced with people who are courteous and respectful of others. I will be contacting corporate and hopefully they will be replaced.

For the prices and the surprise sales on shoes that you can find in the store, this place can be hard to beat. I found a pair of skate shoes that were tagged at $20, but when they were rung up at the cashier counter, the price was lowered to $17.94. Yes, its not much of a stretch from twenty, but still its a pleasant surprise. The store can be understaffed at times, so you may have to wait for someone to serve you, especially when you are trying on shoe sizes.

Hard to find the customer service personal. When they do start helping you its their breaktime. I still manage asking the other customers. But they carry everything starter material for every local sport played here. Cant find all size, but wait for sales if you can.

I went there to buy a shoes for my son, the guy who help me that day he wasnt not nice at all, he had very bad attitude. I went the Oder day I saw a woman I ask her for help nicely and she walk away she not even answer me. The prices are good but costumer service is very poor.

Ive been to several Big Fives this one honestly wasnt that remarkable Ive seen a lot better selection of river boating water boating and seafaring items at Big Fives in the middle of the desert rather than here I think they can spend a little effort getting some wetsuits and maybe a few items for the water?!

There are usually just two people working there, the other one at the cashier and the other on the floor. If the one on the floor is occupied you will get no service, not even a chance to get the changing room open.

I come here because we can usually find what we need when it comes to youth sports. If you register on the website, you can get additional coupons. And individual stores can sometimes have sales that aren’t in the newspaper ads. This all makes a difference.This afternoon, we had to get white baseball pants for the season, on sale for $19.99 in the ad, and cleat shoes. We’d already priced the shoes a couple of weeks before and tried on several pairs at different stores. Since a clinic was the next day, we decided it was time to get the shoes we’d tried on earlier. In the Menlo Park store we didn’t find the range of shoe selection that we’d seen in the Sunnyvale store, but we found an in-store special for Under Armor baseball pants for $3 less. I looked in my email and there was a $10 off coupon for Presidents’ Day, so we applied that and saved ourselves $13 in what we’d expected to pay.
