Found what I needed. Staff very friendly and helpful

I came in yesterday evening an hour before close and was greeted by three staff. They asked if I needed assistance and helped me to get a lawnmower. I really appreciate the great customer service here.

They are great for different products that you need for your home and accessories they repair my screens for me that I need it for my window on time I left them there and I was able to pick them up in a week

This is such a great store. As soon as you walk in, there is somebody there asking if you need help. John, Joe, and ALL the other guys that work there are so helpful. And Kelly the person who checks customers out with their purchases is efficient, polite, friendly, etc. I love the store. I highly recommend it. It’s much better than going to a big box store like Menards or Home Depot where it’s hard to find somebody to help you.

First Visit ever - Very small store but fully stocked - Nice staff - Had the specialty light bulbs I needed at a reasonable price probably lower than Home.

I purchased a 50 ft extension cord for outdoor landscaping. Costed $20.00 + TaX.

I went to Ace Hardware to get the supplies need to hang a canvas painting in my mothers room at a nearby nursing home. The painting did not have the teeth or string on the back. I also needed the command picture hanger to stick to the wall. Both Jimmy and a woman warmly greeted me. Then not only did Jimmy take me to the supplies, he recommended what he thought would work best. Then he actually nailed the teeth on back of the canvas for me. This was no easy task as the nails in the kit was short and his finger/thumb were taller. I was afraid he would injure himself but he figured a way to quickly get it done. Jimmy not only takes pride in his work, but he really cares about the customers. This was one of the best experiences I encountered in my 59 years at a store. Thank you Jimmy!!! This was indeed a little thing that meant alot! The canvas painting looks great on moms wall at the nursing home.

Good store. Staff is very helpful. However the cashier was more worried about talking about her political opinion instead ringing up customers.

Definitely my go to place for all my fix it stuff. The people there are so helpful. Takes you back the the way things used to be .

If you need a couple of nuts and bolts, or some trimmer line, this is the place. If you needed more than that, it is much more cost effective to go to a big box store. Staff tries to be helpful, but arent the most knowledgeable. Do NOT ask any questions about code, they have no clue.

This is a small Ma and Pa type Ace. It is much smaller to most other stores in the same chain. The service is fantastic and staff is polite and knowledgeable. They do not carry the whole line of CRAFSTMAN tools like the ACE in Crete, Il which is only a few miles away. With this store, I would phone first if you are in the middle of home repairs or projects and are in desperate need of something: ran there many times because location is convenient, but had to go to a larger retailer to find what I needed.

The cashier who works here looks like she hates her job! And was forced to be there! Ignorant! The gentlemen inside is very nice and extremely helpful but find a new cashier for sure!

They provide excellent customer service. I like that they are family owned. I deducted a star because of their problems with making duplicate house keys. Not only have I had to go back several times to get a key remade to actually work in the door lock, but they chew up my original key and it is much more difficult to unlock my door with it. There is only one guy that is good at making dupplicate keys. Ask for the slender guy, with the mustache.

Brought in window for glass repair. Turned out great. A window guy comes in several times a week to do the repairs. Just another reason to keep Ace in mind as your local hardware store.

Been going here for years, and its slowly gone from bad to worse. Other than the two younger guys that work here the help is abominable. Always feels like its a bother to have to help with anything. Then theres always the fact that they have no inventory on hand. Ill drive 10 minutes further to the Crete ace. They have a lot of products and are genuinely friendly and helpful people.

This is my first time coming here and my last.I absolutely HATE this place because the people here are really racist.The worst employee here is this tall young dude because he is really rude and racist.If you cant work with people than get a new JOB.

Service there is good but the place is so small very little selection. If anything buy the places up next to it and build bigger.

Would have gave it 5 star but this one lady that is always smoking needs training on how to speak to customers and if she has an issue with people of different colors stay home she is bad for business. But the rest of the staff is great

A small comfy store with all common and slightly uncommon needs. Will most likely have what you need if youre a basic diy-er or average person, but youll definitely need a bigger one for power workers.

Got in, got the last 3 bags if granular salt and got out. I did have to walk the whole store till I found it.

If I could give it no stars I definitely would!!!! These people dont need nobodys business because if they did they would do better or are ok with the mediocre business they get! I went only once and promised myself I would not be back and havent. I have no problem going out the way for someone who appreciates my business. Its disgusting that this business operates like this..and it is so fine with me because myself and many others have felt the same way. Oh and the people who gave it the 5 stars, they like you but do not treat everyone the same. They really do act like you are bothering them. NO THANK YOU ACE HARDWARE IN STEGER!! You could be the top hardware store..You have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AT ALL!!
