This is my local neighborhood coffee roaster, and they are great! Personal customer service, and some very knowledgeable staff! If youre just looking for a place to stop every morning for your daily fix, or need expert level service this place has you covered! Support local business!
Good coffee, could be a little hotter. Employee was nice and friendly.
This is the best coffee in Springfield, and arguably the best in the state! This ”coffee forward” establishment really focuses on coffee. That may sound silly but many businesses spend too much time on food and menu options, neglecting their most important commodity—coffee! Brick & Mortar (B&M) avoids those pitfalls and emphasizes coffee—and only coffee. B&M is primarily a roastery that also has a small, quaint tasting room to give patrons a space to enjoy the exquisite coffee! I recently had the pleasure of meeting and conversing with Jonathan the owner of B&M. His friendly and knowledgeable approach to the coffee experience made my visit all the more pleasant. The coffee menu is small but sufficient. Less is more! I highly recommend B&M’s espresso. It’s perhaps the best I’ve tasted!
This place is really great for specialty coffee with ingredients like pineapple whip or Mexican cola, and they make it fresh right in front of you.The prices are also cheaper compared to other coffee places and are actually full of espresso vice watered down with sugar and slush. The restaurant itself looks amazing, like something youd find in New York or California vice a little street in Springfield.
This coffee is very different than all the others—It’s like Black Sheep for coffee. It’s so smooth and delicious! Get a cup and take a bag home with you!
Best cup of coffee in Springfield, hands down. And trust me, I’ve tried them all.
Coffee for people who truly love coffee. Not another Starbucks knockoff with burnt-biscuit flavored coffee and sugary, powder-flavored nightmares slathered in whip cream. These guys are purists, craftsmen, artisans in a Philistine land of pretenders. Their spartan decor highlights their emphasis on function over form. Theyve ignored a superficial desire for kitschy frivolous swaths of decor and addressed a serious need for seriously good coffee. And I... am grateful.
Awesome coffee, owner is a great guy! Go support this fantastic local business!
Better than Starbucks. These people care about coffee and the eccentricities of the complex flavors. My girls and myself got the iced latte which were great and the wife had a hot cup of coffee. I usually like my a touch sweeter but the flavors were good. Worth stopping, if you like a touch of sweet bring it with you.
All good.
Love love love the coffee. The barista was really helpful in helping me decide on the coffee I wanted. I love trying different places black coffee. This one was well roasted, fruity, and full. He talked me in to the Burmese coffee in a French press. It. Was. Perfect! If you like black coffee, definitely try here.
The quality of the coffee seems to vary from visit to visit and leans toward poor. There are plenty of coffee shops with better consistency.
Terrible presentation with poor architecture. The owner doesnt care about his customers . Despite my poor experience they refuse to offer a refund .I cant even taste the coffee here .
We stopped in here on a Saturday in time for their informal cupping and soon realized we were in good hands. Jonathon, the owner of B&M coffee was running the shop and because it was a slow day we all had plenty of time to talk. After the cupping we tried a few drinks from the tasting bar as well as getting a bit of a tour of the roasting area. All very cool! We all enjoyed our time very much and I will definitely be stopping in again next time Im in Springfield. Thanks for all the time you spent with us, Jonathan!Brandon Ensz from South Dakota
The staff person on duty was very helpful in making our choices in what to order on our first visit (2nd for my sister in law). Our coffee choices were delicious. The atmosphere was laid back and we felt welcome and not rushed by staff to vacate even once we were done.
These guys roast and brew a great cup, no matter what you order. They are extremely friendly! We love everything they make but last Saturday they were serving some delicious frozen custard with a shop of espresso to pour over the top and my taste buds are still feeling happy from the experience!
Sat down and enjoyed the best cup of coffee I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. The owner, Jonathan, and his crew were friendly, enthusiastic, and the service was great. I brought on jar of beans with me back to Sweden, and once home I wish I had bought more. If these guys could deliver to Sweden then this would be the only coffee Id ever let touch my lips. Keep up the amazing job your doing, and keep making amazing coffee.
Good espresso and cool atmosphere. Not so great service and very limited menu. If youre in the area you should just drive a couple more minutes to the coffee ethic.
This place is not afraid to do things the right way. They wont compromise their coffee integrity despite the demand for Starbucks style coffee. They are true 3rd wave coffee. If you want to taste coffee in its truest form and learn a thing or two, this is the place for you.
Best cup of coffee you can get in Springfield hands down. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and always friendly. A very laid back atmosphere for enjoying coffee and community.
Went into this place not expecting too much was greeted with pleasantries and the coffee is awesome got a mocha
Came here looking for a relaxing cup of coffee; instead, I paid $4 for a shot glass sized cup of cold brew with raspberry sauce mixed in. One of my friends paid $4 for what was basically a sip of cold brew and a ton of whipped cream. I would choose my own French press over this any day.
My first visit was pleasant. They were really helpful in hooking me with some beans for my home espresso.Best Decaf Ive ever had.
Great coffee for those who arent expecting something super sweet like youd get at other more mainstream coffee shops. Great cappuccino! Fun atmosphere.
The folks that work here are very knowledgeable about their craft. They were great about not making us feel rushed when we had questions and passionately answered them.Their roasted coffee beans are fantastic. As an amateur roaster, I was also extremely excited to find that they sell green coffee beans. The long drive from home is well worth each visit!
What a wonderful experience. I did a cupping session with Jonathan and the crew, we were more than impressed! I would highly recommend this place to all coffee enthusiast and to those who just plainly love coffee!
Best coffee in Springfield imho. Check it out if youre into high end coffee culture. 😎
Not good. Go elsewhere.
Do yourself a favor and order the baristas choice. This is a place to take your time and enjoy the craft of coffee. Every aspect of the coffee has been artfully cared for and the team is equally passionate about the quality in the cup. Brick and Mortar Coffee will be listed among the great and influential coffee bars in the nation.
There isnt a better roaster in town. And no better café for conversation. Also, fantastic people. The Ampersand cold brew is the best coffee in Springfield, and maybe in all of America. No joke.
The place is great, however, it is a tasting room. Remember that, it is a TASTING ROOM! While they do have a full bar, they are not a coffee shop. They have a limited select of beverages, no wifi, few seats, and no syrups for the coffee. I would still recommend going if given the chance, and buy a burlap sack while youre at it!
Not only one of the best places to get coffee in town, but one of the best in the country. Primarily a roaster, they have a coffee bar that serves as a kind of tasting room for what they roast. While it can feel intimidating going into a place like this if youre not a huge coffee/espresso drinker, the staff is extremely friendly; whether youre a seasoned connoisseur or just have a couple questions, theyre more than happy to inform, advise, or even just chat.
This is by far, the best cup of coffee I have ever had. The atmosphere however, leaves much to be desired.
Im very picky about coffee. This hits the spot. Not overly sweet, made with care, knowledge, and quality ingredients. Definitely artisan coffee for snobs. The only problem is, if you go at certain times there is only one employee in there, and it may take quite a while to get a cuppa.
The last time I was here, the chaser was extremely rude and even put hair in the bottom of my coffee cup 🤢🤢🤢 I’ve been here three times and each time there was hair in the bottom of the cup 🤢🤢🤢🤢
The greatest coffee in Springfield. Bar none. This is my bean supplier of choice for when Im feeding my coffee addiction at home.
Amazing experience and I learned so much about coffee beans. They roast their own beans and provide tours! We loved it! Great place!
This is mainly a place to taste and buy coffee beans, they do have a small menu of excellent coffee and very good service. I would recommend stopping by for a quick cortado and if you have a grinder be sure to grab some beans.
Great coffee and a nice place to relax
Best coffee we have had and we love that they roast their own beans. If we ever stop in Springfield again we will definitely go back there!
Fabulous cup of coffee and a great espresso shot compliments of Costa Rica.
Great service, amazing drinks, and a warm inviting atmosphere. I cant recommend this place enough.
I was in a hurry, I wanted coffee fast. I was told it would take several minutes. I didnt have that kind of time, I had to leave.
Good coffee and friendly baristas. Nice place to sit down, contemplate life and wonder why you its your first time visiting.
Love their coffee as well as the food truck WheelHouse in their lot! Amazing pairing and great atmosphere.
This coffee shop is always a winner. Fantastic coffee drinks, innovative creations, dog friendly, and wonderful staff. Highly recommend.
Great worker! She explained everything so well, and the drink I got was great!!
They really care about coffee, and serve their selection of coffee in their tasting room. All their coffee drinks from pour overs, espresso, espresso drinks, and cold brew are incredible! They take pride in roasting the best coffee!
Excellent pour over coffee havent tried any espresso drinks.
This is EPIC. If you appreciate your beans, if you want to sit and sip, or if you want to take home something special for your morning cup, get into this shop.
Im picky about my black coffee because theres nothing to cover up if its bad. This coffee is GREAT.
Coffee is amazing here, I loved the hangout area in the back, I would suggest a bit attention to the inside furniture!
Great place if you like strong coffee. Love the espresso and minimalist environment.
Great cappuccino! Worth the stop. Definitely a destination not to be missed!
So good! Got the baristas choice which was a V60, Kyoto Coldbrew and espresso from their Slayer machine! I was so impressed by each one! Mad vibes!
Best coffee in Springfield. Also in Missouri. Probably in the entire Midwest. And possibly the country.
Consistently excellent espresso from a quality bunch. Love going here! Congrats on the roaster award!!
Is this a coffee shop or a private hipster club? The coffee is good.
Comfortable space focused on the coffee, enjoyed finally being able to visit after following them for a while
If you want some supreme coffee then check out my buddies at Brick and Mortar Coffee Co. Jonathan and staff make you feel like part of the family!
Amazing coffee roasted on site, cool people, and inviting environment. Good vibes.
Very clean and well set up.
Good third wave coffee stop! Pleasant atmosphere & knowledgable staff!
Brick and mortar roasts their own coffee beans and makes incredible drinks.
Excellent coffee. One of my favorite people / baristas works here and is always delightful.
The best cold brew Ive had in a while! Super chill and relaxed atmosphere and they have great spots for work or studying!
Very creative presentation. Barista gave good suggestions and coffee tasted wonderful!
I love the taste of their coffee. So many other boutique roasters try to do a light roast and leave you enjoying a pinto-bean-tasting drink. Their roast brings out the subtle tones without being so weird it sends the novice coffee drinkers running. Truly head and shoulders above any other company in the flavor profile. The tasting room is just that. Not a place to hang out and coffee shop off the wifi (I dont think customer wifi is available). A great place to sit and chat with friends (provided the music isnt too loud) or with the baristas (great staff).a must-visit if you love coffee.
Theres a barista there with giant calves and he brings the SAUCE!
Quality foods, laid back atmosphere and great decor.
Excellent macchiato with the single-origin espresso. Three pour over options -- I went with the Kenyan, my wife with the El Salvador. Both were delicious, but mine was better -- perfectly balanced sweetness and acidity. The barista was really friendly and knowledgable, showing me around the roaster and talking beans. Classy decor, too. Overall an outstanding shop.
Good coffee. Out of the way and a little erratic hours-wise, but great coffee.
Great smooth coffee in Sprg, give it a try well done
Great coffee Barista knows thier stuff!
Coffee, coffee and more coffee. Decor and menu, both unique.
This is as good as it gets! Staff is friendly and made a killer latte. I wish I was in town longer!
No one wants to drink a coffee made with bad intentions and negativity.
Excellent coffee, good service and a cool environment
Good coffee, nice people, pleasant environment to sit and read.
Brick & Mortar is a fresh new perspective for the Springfield coffee community. The owners and employees are VERY knowledgable and can answer any questions you may have, while crafting you the finest traditional beverages with their in-shop roasted beans. Their homemade cold press goes really well with a hot day and they have a variety of merchandise to sell. Phil Cook, Jonathan Putnam, and Audre Langebartel have spent a combined few decades in the coffee industry and REALLY KNOW THEIR STUFF. This is my favorite shop in town and is highly recommended for a morning pick-me-up, a relaxed afternoon study session, a cupping or tasting event, or even the occasional latte art throwdown. I recommend the baristas choice--whoever is on the bar will give you some great beverages.
Good cappuccino. Id recommend to a friend.
Great coffee, nice guy who waited on me...
Great atmosphere, best coffee in town, and great conversations.
It had the worst Servis i have ever had dont go there save your money
Kenyan cold brew was great!
Great coffee to enjoy in a warm and welcoming environment.
Literally just coffee. Dont think youll get tea here
Walked in to barista by himself blasting super vulgar rap music-- like leave-nothing-to-the-imagination rap. He didnt care that anyone came in and acted like a thug. I just left.
Real good coffee, great atmosphere.
Always a great experience and fantastic coffee
Oddly snotty clientele. Staff is descent.
Best coffee shop in all of Springfield.
The coffee makes up for the lack of good customer service.
