The Great Gatsby sheer delight this is a stunning show and a wonderfully enjoyable night. A gem.
Great crowd, warm and funny. Enjoyed todays Story Slam after a tasty roast. Theatre was lovely small space but freezing! Will definitely be back but with thermal layers and maybe a hot water bottle or three!
A great venue. When you go in you imagine that it will be quite small, but its huge. Through the bar - good beer selection, and good food from a different counter, through a long was to the back to find the box office, and then finally through to the theatre space...Its a lovely square bowl theatre in what must have been a cellar, with tiered seating on two sides. It was perfect for comedy - we saw Sarah Keyworth - but it would also be great for theatre and music.
The theatre is very small and is contained within a quaint rambling old building which has a large ground floor area food and drinks and a lovely outdoor rooftop area for the same. It is situated near to the town centre and car parking is available about 5 minutes walk away at the Cabot Circus car park, which is not too pricey. The lack of room obviously restricts the type of shows that can be put on but there are clearly a number of eclectic performers that can make maximum use of the facilities. We saw Noisy Holiday with our grandchildren. Its a one man show starring Ed Patrick aka Kid Carpet. He displayed a wonderful array of talents ranging from short catchy tunes to different voices for each of the four small plastic animal toys that went on holiday with him! I was impressed with the way the backing videos and music flowed seamlessly with the acting despite the many ad libs that Ed included. Ed has a very wacky humour which the kids loved and caused them to laugh out loud on numerous occasions. The small scenery which was displayed behind the toys was excellently designed. These scenes were projected by video camera onto a screen in the corner. The show is difficult to describe as it so unusual. We all enjoyed it though. This venue is well worth a visit.
Great atmosphere, reasonably priced drinks and brilliant entertainment. We went for a drink in The Old Market Assembly before heading through to the theatre at the back and I will definitely be going back to explore more - there were signs for an outside terrace (unfortunately didn’t have time to go up to this visit) and everyone seemed to be having pizza which looked very nice. The theatre line up is great and we loved watching Luke Wright!
Great little fringe theatre. Maybe 100 cab. Intimate shows, great opportunity to see comedy and theatre up close and personal
Theatre was fab, very cute! Food upstairs is brilliant and very filling! My only complaint of the whole experience was that the seats in the theatre were mega uncomfortable! Not sure they can do much but maybe some more foam would help! Is a great place though and cant wait for the next visit!xx
Had brilliant 3 course Christmas meal. Then went on to see Drac and Jill. Just cant believe there are only 4 in the cast. They were all so talented. Couldnt stop laughing all night .
Great matinee show of Drac and Jill, this years Wardrobe Theatre mash up Christmas show. And love spending time at the Old Market Assembly. Delicious mulled cider!
Lovely little theatre, seen many independent productions here. Lovely atmosphere. Good seating. Nice friendly box office staff.
I love this venue! Such a great spot to meet friends and share an evening together. The restaurant has a nice variety of different types of meals and the little theatre is lovely!
We went to see Oedipus in Boots. My sides stopped hurting 3 days later. Not only that, but the bar is great and the food is amazing. What a brilliant night out.
Fantastic service. Squashed us in late notice. Great beer. Great food. Lovely people.
Love this gem of a place. The food is lovely. Definitely recommend the Jake. The drinks are reasonably priced. The jewel in the crown are the performances. Fabulous entertainment will keep me coming back.
Amazing show today about Grandad & the woods. Kids & adults loved it. Highly recommended
Great little venue. Cosy atmosphere, good acoustics and really felt close to the performers. Hard backed benches made it harder to sit still, but still a nice venue
I cant thank the staff ( bar, door, acts, chefs ect) for the level of service and professionalism! Friendly, happy and couldnt do enough to accommodate myself and my best friend (visiting from afar) to make sure we had a fantastic night that we will remember fondly forever! A very gushing but deservedly so post . Meeting Annie on the door was my highlight what a fantastic lady. We are sat here working out when we can return.... and making sure its when Crayola the Queen is next in town xxx
An interesting new place. We went on a midweek lunchtime when it was crowed with mothers and young children. It was good to see everyone having fun with the toys and games provided. The food was interesting an d good value and there was a choice of real ales
Love it. We take the little one (3 and a half) to the family shows. Such a brilliant thing to have available. Amazing experience, brilliant shows, reasonably priced. Cant praise it enough.
Great vibrant place to visit, either for a drink, food or to attend the fantastic Wardrobe Theatre (located at the back of the pub).I would advise combining all three for a great evening out, but be sure to book a table if dining.
A great little theatre. Intimate feel because audience is close to the stage. Seen excellent shows created and performed by local artists. Also, went to a Rozi Plain concert at the theatre; her performance and the whole evening was very enjoyable.
Watched a comedy show here - venue was great and they had a good mix of drinks on offer at the bar.
Great small venue, went to the regular weekly comedy night with a good range of acts.Seems like a good variety of different performances held at the venue.
Really cool small theatre. Great food and drinks available in the bar/restaurant (which is worth visiting anyway). The theatre is really well set up and a great space for some interesting plays
Only walked past. Looked nice from outside, as I said I was only walking past.
This theatre is great. Well raked seats so great view from all rows. They have a superb range of events.
Great place. Pub looked lovely. Theatre was a very affordable, great experience. Will go again.
Such an amazing place, soo many shows and great atmosphere.
Watched a comedy show tonight called Drac & Jill. Amazing night, great staff and good beer.
We found the Wardrobe Theatre very difficult to find but once there its a cracking little venue. Very intimate which was good as we had gone to see Martin Carthy so it suited very well. Didnt have time to get a drink or try the food but were told its good. Im now on their mailing list and next time well go earlier and get some supper first.
Excellent production of Drac and Jill, great atmosphere in the bar / restaurant!
Fabulous intimate friendly place. Went to see Oedipus in boots.. hilarious. If you can go, do is well worth it
Quirky place with a great restaurant, excellent service and enticing dishes
Had a great time watching a family show in the very intimate theatre. Stopped for a pint afterwards too in the Cafe. Would defo go back.
Perfectly sized theatre: not too small, not too large. Went to see good quality, up-and-coming comedians, for a reasonable price. That seems typical. The fairly steep rake and square plan with performers down in one corner works brilliantly. Beer I had was really good. Didnt try the food but I have heard its good. Rare 5* rating from me despite quite uncomfortable seat, the woman next to me sitting too close and long half time bar queue.
Fantastic small venue for theatre, comedy and more with interesting affordable and varied programme. Have been several times. Good place to eat, drink and meet.
Some of the best new writing and performers in the country. Excellent value and the joy of discovering something new is always enjoyable. See them here before they get famous!
Saw Drac and Jill last night. Absolutely fabulous, but word of warning its not for the faint hearted!!
Cool combination of drinks, food and theatre. You should especially try out their alternative Christmas pantomimes
Ive been here twice over the last two years and it has been a great experience. This is mostly due to the performances but it is a nice cosy theatre and good shows make a great use of the space provided. You can take drinks in which is also a plus.
Curious and interesting theatre in a trendy pub restaurant with live music.
First visit. Great venue linked to bar/restaurant. Show was excellent.
Great afternoon at Aftermirth comedy show. Lovely venue and great comedy!
Quirky venue with fab live music and a well stocked bar downstairs and an intimate but fully equipped theatre upstairs. The food looked amazing too! A must visit place for theatergoers.I visited on a Friday night and was surprised at the amount of free roadside parking on the same street as the theatre (free after 4:30pm).All staff were incredibly friendly, smiley and helpful. Seating in the bar area is quite squashed, but there is also a room for larger parties aside from the main seating area. Outside terrace available for smokers. Toilets were surprisingly clean and nicely decorated. The theatre seems to show fringe-style performances, many of which seem to be improvised. I saw Reservoir Cats (Tarrantino / Lloyd-Webber Mash-up) - it was absolutely brilliant... really recommend these performance which seem to be staged annually around Christmas.
The Wardrobe Theatre has both excellent programming and a warm and generous local audience. Its a fantastic fringe venue with some great shows.
Watched police cops in space and monkey tennis here. Its a good sized venue for an intimate performance and the Old Market Assembly is a great place to meet beforehand.
Fantastic Christmas show, the kids loved it as adults did too! Love you guys, thank you for the entertainments every year 😊
This place is relatively new, and I visited my first show there watching the amazing goldilock stock and three smoking bears... Was a fantastic rendition of two great stories, seamlessly pieced together... Cant wait to see an original production from these guys again
Amazing show. Well worth the numb bum
Really nice small theatre. The pub is good and serves interesting food.
Cool venue in old market. Cool alternative if youre not into clubs but are still looking to enjoy nights in the lgbt+ scene in Bristol
Loved living spits living quiz. Great theatre to visit, gets a bit warm!
Quirky, fun performance space with choc ices in the interval.
I went with my friends for a stand up comedy for moms and babies. Lovely place
Intimate and fun but seats pretty uncomfortable. Pre show food from the bar isnt disappointing
What a great venue . Saw a fantastic story slam and had the best mulled cider this year ! The food looked delicious will return for a Sunday roast
Very cool bar with a good ale selection and a roof terrace. Great little venue in the back for comedy / performances.
If the mighty boosh and monty python had a love child then that child would be this play! Oedipus in boots! Amazing, disturbing, brilliant!
What a pleasant surprise...warm welcoming..The play The long walk back was BRILLIANT.
Its great having this kind of theatre in the city. Small but great to listen to live bands
Awesome venue, really nice food, great atmosphere and a nice intimate theatre space, I would highly recommend it.
Gorgeous little theatre that always puts on great shows.

Great, original shows, and an intimate setting. Inexpensive too, so excellent value for money.

Great comedy show watched here. Fern Brady. Will have to keep going
Fabulous location. Great food. Service is amazing. Fantastic shows in the Theatre space.
Excellent local theatre showcasing some of the best talent around.
Intimate little theatre that puts on very interesting and entertaining productions with a strong local emphasis.
Very good pizza before the show.
The most diverse selection of theatre, music, spoken word, and comedy all under one roof - certainly in Bristol, possibly the whole of the south west.
