I have an old big bore rifle that I decided to fix myself but when it came to the book that I just didn’t have the stuff so I dropped it off with these guys and they got it taken care of within a week. They have a good knowledge and good advice. This is the only place I’ll be trusting with my big bore setup
Andrew is the real deal and a pleasure to work with! I was in need of getting my Shotgun fitted and reached out to Andrew about a month before the 2020 NSCA Sporting Clay National Championships. Andrew figured out the gun didn’t fit me and was way off so he bent my stock for me and got my shotgun perfectly fitted for me! I went into Nationals with no Huge expectations “having not shot the gun very much with the newest stock modifications” I just told myself to have fun and shoot! Fortunately for me I was able to shoot well and even place top 5 in a event! First time I had done that and I fully believe that it was all because of Andrews excellent work! My shotgun is now a true extension of my eye and shoots exactly where I’m looking. Couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.
I came to get my guns fit with Andrew, and let me tell you it’s worth every single penny. I’ve recently become more serious about my shotgunning and fit is everything. He is a maestro, was able to identify my needs and set the guns up in such a way that I can actually hit what I’m looking at. Not only does he fit the gun to you, he is constantly explaining why you want it to be a certain way. This is the real deal folks, bring everything to him from your field gun to your fancy clay smasher this guy knows his stuff.
Very disappointed. In march this year I spent $405.00 for two new hammer springs and firing pins on my Franchi over under. It is now October and the firing pin on my top barrel is defective, (stuck in the fired position)and the ends are dented worse than the original pins. Looks like soft metal was used. This is ridiculous to spend that much money and have a faulty part. I haven’t even shot that much ammo through it for it to go bad this quick. I’m going to call and see if they will warranty this work and hopefully get better parts this time.
This is guy is pure BS. I cant believe I was recommending him to MY customers. To everyone I have sent to this shop I am sorry. It wont happen again.Went in to get a front sight instated on a Springfield 1911 ($442 wholesale) and told him no hurry. Five months later I was told it was ready. Cost $200.06! For a front sight. DO NOT GO HERE! Unless you want to be ripped off!
Friendly, knowalgable and great work
This fella and his staff are top notch. I appreciate the owner taking his time with us and fully making sure everything was up to the highest of standards. You fellas have earned a customer for life.
Great guys. Honest
I received a gun as a gift right before dove season. It was a little long for me and needed to be adjusted. Someone from work had referred Andrew to my husband for gun fitting. My husband set up the appointment and my daughter and I made the drive from Dallas to meet with Andrew. He immediately made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. He was so nice and helpful and even helped out with my daughter. I had my stock shortened and a new pad put on my gun within that week and ready for dove season! I cant tell you how nice Andrew is...you have to meet him yourself. It can be hard for a woman to walk into a male dominated environment. He knows that. He went above and beyond. I walked out confident and ready for opening weekend!
Met with Andrew on Saturday to start the fitting process with my Oldest son, he was great with my son who is 8 years old. Andrew was very patient and offered great advice... Holden truly enjoyed it and we look forward to continuing the fitting process with Andrew!
Andrew and his staff exhibited superlative communication and customer service. The craftsmanship was of the highest quality.
Andrew, listened and delivered the exact product I asked for. His knowledge and guidance on my project shows. He and his staff are friendly and know their stuff. The gun he worked on had more issues than originally thought. He had to spend extra time and was fair on my final bill. Highly recommend and will pass this gun down to my son with the work ADM did.
I just returned from a shotgun fitting session with Andrew. What a treat! Prince of a guy, and incredibly knowledgeable. I made an appointment and drove in from Tyler with 4 shotguns. He watched me mount each gun, made adjustments, then had me remount them multiple times. I left with 2 that only needed minor changes. None of the 4 fit me properly. Beginner or seasoned shooter, if you dont like to cripple or miss, go see Andrew. You wont regret it.
Exelent Gun store and a Gun shop !
Met Andrew and instantly knew this guy was a pro. I gave Andrew a Browning Hi Power and requested he simply make the trigger great and offered no further instructions. Didnt want to restrict him from doing what he felt would be best. When I picked up my Hi Power a few weeks later and in a word OUTSTANDING! Andrew came out to go over his work with me and I could not be more pleased. Andrew has a true love and pride for his work. I have made another appointment with him for another gun and will write another review when that project is done.
I went in to ask some simple questions that I did not know. They were so helpful. Met everyone in the shop. Amazing service. I feel like I could stop by and ask them anything about guns and they would find me an answer.
My wife bought me a gun fitting from ADM for Christmas. We had an appt the day after Christmas and I was super pleased. He spent two hours total the first day. First we talked extensively about my shooting experience and goals. Then he had me mount and dismount the gun for the actual fitting. He spent the time to explain what he thought should be done and why.He told me he was going to bend it for three days but if it wasn’t where he wanted he would need a couple of more days. That’s what happened, but I got my gun back in a week. He told me to shoot a few times and then come back for any additional adjustments for no charge. I did just that and he’s already made one additional adjustment, and I still may go back for one more small tweak.I felt he explained everything sufficiently, did what he said he’d do, and met my expectations. I will be back.
Eau Claire, WIAndrew is a rarity and treasure to the firearms community! He is one of the few gunsmiths in the country with the skills to do what a gunsmith should be able to do. Andrew built my first semi-custom hunting rifle, it was a Winchester model 70 featherweight in 30.06, I wanted the rifle to remain light and portable while improving accuracy. Andrew bedded and trued the action in a new composite stock and installed and tuned a Jewell trigger, the results were amazing! The rifle with the factory featherweight barrel now will touch holes at 200 yards with absolute reliability. The difference is performance is tremendous, after seeing firsthand what Andrew can do he is the only person I will take/send my firearms to for work. I am now in the planning stages with Andrew for a sniper rifle build, and the word excited is an understatement. I know the rifle will far exceed my expectations by miles as has all the work Andrew has ever done for me, and he is the only person to be able to do that thus far!
I took a very unusual Steyr Zephyr to get repaired. I tried 3 other places who could not help me. ADM got it fixed. Beautiful job!
Outstanding experience. The first gunsmith I have come across that takes the time to sit down with his clients. Andrew and his wife are always happy and inviting. No arrogance. No non-sense. A pleasure to do business with.
I could not be more pleased with the service that I experienced at ADM. Andrew is a true craftsman, and you would be hard-pressed to find someone with more knowledge and skill in the United States. The stock that I had made for my shotgun has exceeded my expectations, from the one-on-one time spent fitting, to the continued service after my stock was finished, Andrew and his team really are the best in the business. I cant forget to mention the wonder personal service that I was given from his assistant Larissa. If you are looking for a custom fitting that will not only help you excel on the range, but also in the field. ADM Gun and Rifle makers is the place to have it done.
I have taken three competition shotguns in for work. 1 was a stock bend, nailed it, my avg went up 3.5-4 birds instantly and gained yardage to boot. Another was my step daughters and she is consistently running 100s. Last was my tube gun, slight stock bend and running straights not all the time, but frequently than before with all gauges.I like them so much, I have had three rifles worked on. Service, trigger, bedding, anything to make them better. All work done in a timely fashion and what I feel to be a very fair price.I have given many cards out to all my shooting friends who need gun work, stock bending, etc..Anytime I need a gun worked on, Andrew is my first choice.
Andrew and the team at ADM are awesome! Did work on my M1-A Springfield, put a new rail and stock on my gun. They were friendly and very knowledgeable. Read in a magazine that Andrew was one of the best in the country so I looked him up and it was worth it.
ADM offers excellent craftsmanship at a reasonable price. It is a pleasure to own a beautiful rifle built by true consummate professionals.
I sent an LC Smith for stock-bending. The butt stock was nearly severed during shipment to ADM. Andrew did an exceptional job repairing the damage and was able to bend the stock. He demonstrated great patience while I was anxiously waiting for the shotgun to be returned before bird season. He met my deadline and honored his quote despite the damage being worse than anticipated.Bottom line: In addition to being a top flight gunsmith, Andrew is a man of honor.Postscript: The shotgun fits great and has held together after many boxes of loads fitting for a rustic shotgun.
Just bought a gun and additional pieces. Steve was very helpful and knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to get it right. It was a great experience.
For years we have been coming to ADM to get our shotguns cleaned and serviced for hunting, trap and skeet. Prices are good. The quality of work has been exceptional. I would recommend his work anyday.
These guys are the real deal. Honest, and great to work with. They diagnosed my problem within days of me dropping it off (around holidays no less) and fixed me up real nice at a very fair price! They called me before they completed the work to tell me what it was and how much it would be. Custom machines me a piece that I needed which saved me weeks (if not months) dealing with the manufacturer warrantee. Feels like a new gun! Other places around the area told me it would be weeks until I had it back... Look no further for any and all your gun repairs or custom work!
Horrible. The experience started of just fine. Andrew was very helpful and patient. Things have gone completely sideways. He has had my Kolar since 1/23/19 for a stock bending. Gun was tested and fired the weekend of 2/10/19. Andrew wanted to do one last adjustment on the stock and he guaranteed me he would ship it out within the week. it is now 4.5.19 and still dont have my gun. His front man Spencer has lied to me on 6 different phone calls assuring me it has been shipped. Spencer has refused to put Andrew on the phone to talk with me. At this point Im sending a relative that lives in DFW to go pick up the gun. What a complete mess!!!!
I recently had a trigger job done on my Ruger SR40c. Its almost like a completely different gun now. I supplied the parts and Andrew did a great job fitting them. Took a little bit longer than I would have liked but waiting for quality work is worth it. I would go back here again.
Andrew was recommended by some people that my daughters had shot a competition with. Very impressed! I really feel bad about not having them both fitted sooner, would have saved me money and them tears ( mostly my money). My youngest but most experienced daughter has been shooting for 6 years and has stalled and been frustrated to the point of wanting to quit for the last 18mos. Convinced her to go with me to see Andrew after he fitted her sister. Andrew took time to explain what was going on to both girls and why he was bending things on their guns. Anyway my youngest shoots with me and some others on Tuesday mornings. She shot mediocre 3 rounds that morning left the range and saw Andrew for our appointment. Andrew made his adjustments and sent us home with the advice to take easy practices till she readjusts.Well we left and headed right back to the range. She had some doubts because she has been to coaches and a fitter before with small results. Boy what a eureka moment. She missed the first bird, chipped the second and smashed the next 33. Shot her next round from her worst station and only dropped 2. She was smiling and asked me to set the machine up for a normal round. Bam 23 and when she was done for the first time, she could tell what happened on the 2 she dropped. So I highly recommend getting Andrew to fit you or your child to their gun earlier instead of later. He knows what he is doing and does a really good job with kids so much so We will be taking most if not all of our 4H club shooters to see him. Price is reasonable for the knowledge and craftsmanship you get from a first class guy. The smiles on my daughters faces was well worth it.
I had the pleasure of working with Spencer today, he helped me out and answered a bunch of questions I had. Prices are reasonable as well, Ill be using their services again. Thanks Spencer
Wow! Andrew is a true pro. What a difference it made in my daughters scores having the gun fitted. His precision and attention to detail is unmatched as far as Im concerned. I highly recommend his service if you are looking to be your best. Thank you Andrew!
Bought a 6 Nickel Colt Python at the gun show a couple of years ago. Finally got a chance to shoot it and it worked in single action, but the cylinder did not lock up in double action. Repairing a Python is not a do it yourselfer. That is apparently how it got into the condition it was in. The three gunsmiths on my way to work declined to attempt the repair, and I respect their judgment. Replacement parts are unavailable, and its easy to make it worse. Andrew makes custom guns, which was reassuring, and said that he could make it work properly. He did exactly that. He had to buy a trigger (I may have the part name wrong) and reshape it. Magic. I shot it in single and double action until my hand hurt. 100% reliable. If you need to repair a Colt Python, call Andrew.
They have taken care of two of my jobs without any issues, but about ten months ago I brought my Grandfathers rifle that he had brought back from the war. The bolt was jammed shut and would not open. I figured it would be a simple disassemble and quick fix. 9 months later I was handed the gun and told I cant fix it. I then closer examined the gun and was astonished to see that it had never even been ATEMPTED to be disassembled. Then the icing on the cake was that they had mixed my gun up with another customers. They literally almost gave my Grandfathers rifle that he captured in the war and gave it to someone else. Unbelievable. Ill never step foot in this place again. Avoid at all cost!
Andrew is a skilled gunMAKER, not just a gunsmith, with the capability to create an entire weapon. He has done difficult work for me (shotguns, bolt rifles, double rifles) with outstanding results. He has fine mechanical ability and a sense of proper gun aesthetics.
Brought my rifle to him a while back, it wasnt going into battery. Im confident that most other gunsmiths wouldnt have been able to fix it without simply sending it off to the manufacturer. Definitely going back for any gunsmith needs I have in the future.
Andrew has helped me with 5 guns (2 refurbs, 2 repairs, and 1 shotgun fitting) and every time the quality has been top notch. Nothing leaves his shop that is not 100% of what it should be. Both repairs got guns that were not cycling properly to work like they were new from the factory (and both are over 75 years old). Both refurbs turned out way better than I had any hope for. The fitting amazed me the most because I did not think it would make such a big difference but having the gun adjusted to my exact size and stance allowed me to have the best trap round of my life the first time I shot after the fitting. Andrew has been my only gunsmith for the last 3 years and he is the only one I trust with my heirloom guns.
Andrew is the only person I will take my guns to. He is very honest and knows everything there is to know about guns. I highly recommend ADM Gun & Rifle Makers!
Andrew and Larissa are great to work with. Ive been shooting shotguns since I can remember and considered myself a decent shot. I recently decided I wanted to start shooting registered sporting clays, and a friend suggested I have my gun fitted by Andrew. I went into the gun fitting with very low expectations. I have to say in the 4 hours Andrew spent with me explaining the how, what, and why of shotgun fitting I learned more about a shotgun that I ever thought I knew. He has to be one of the most knowledgeable gunsmiths Ive ever meet and can speak in the most complex of terms or break it down to the simplest of terms. Anytime I had a question about why he was doing this or that he took time to give me a mountain of data. Being an engineer I liked that a lot. It makes so much more sense to me now on why I felt so fatigued after a round of sporting clays with a gun not fit for me. The best way I can describe it would be running a marathon with shoes to small or using a kids set of golf clubs as an adult to play a round of golf. A shotgun is a tool and the tool should be made to fit you and not you adjust yourself to the tool to be able to use it. Shooting now is so much more enjoyable. Anyone from the most novice wing shooter to the most advance sporting clays shooter should really consider having their gun fitted if theyve never done it. It will open your eyes and make your a better shooter. Andrew is one of the best in DFW to do this in my opinion!
There isnt much more annoying in this world than stupid hovering ad boxes when people are trying to read what you have on your site. Keep things simple: on your price schedule page, there is no reason to interrupt my reading what your prices are with that crap, unless your intention is to drive me to your competition.
As another gun dealer,Andrew is the only person that I take my guns to.Does great work!! Highly recommend him.Charles - Owner CNA Tech
Ive been doing here for years and will continue. Ive learned and saved at the same time.
Excellent gun fitter, superb craftsman and a great person. If you want to break more clays, shoot more birds and enjoy your shotgun more, go see Andrew!
Fixed my gun even while he was injured with a cast on. Gave me a 100% satisfaction guarantee and told me I could bring it back at no charge
Andrew fitted and bent two stocks for me, a Zoli Z-sport and a Beretta SV10 Prevail. I couldnt be happier!!! Both guns fit like a custom made suit.Highly recommended.
Gunsmithing is an honorable trade. There is no honor here. Told them i needed a quick repair. 1st lie from andrew at 930am will call you back in 2 hours. 2nd lie after no call back till 5pm i will call you in 20 minutes. 3rd lie i will crack it open to diagnose in 2 hours. 4th lie i will figure it out in 20 minutes. Day after i dropped ot off it hadnt even been looked at. 5th lie will vall in morning. How van you trust a person to build a firearm if he cant keep his word one time of 5 in a 36 hour period? Please dont use this guy for your own safety.
You have got to be kidding me,this guy is still around?....he totally ripped me off for hundreds of dollars for Perazzi work he never completed after a year and a half and he is a theif and a charlitan....he not only ripped me off but two of his employees as well, one he collected money for back surgery from rich clientel then kept the money, I can give references if you like, Im easy to find, the other who made the very website he uses to this day unscrupulous and a con artist, he has the gift of gab and is very convincing.....this man needs to be deported back to South Africa.
I really hoped this place would be good, but I was sorely disappointed. I called over two weeks ago and talked to Andrew, wanting to see if he would slug the bore of my Gew 88 to see which 8mm mauser ammo it shoots. He knew exactly why I needed to know (modern 8mm has a diameter of .323 while pre ww2 is .318), said itd be $50 and hed look at it in two or three days and get back to me. I called a week later to learn he hadnt started on it but assured me he would in the next couple days. I called again about 5 days after that to learn he, again, had not even looked at it. However, Steve said hed have Andrew do it that day, which he did. I went to pick it up the next day and was told by Steve that the bill was now $100+tax. When I countered stating Andrew had told me $50, he said he could do $75 or I could wait for Andrew, so I waited. After 10 min of waiting on Andrew to arrive, Steve was able to call Andrew and he was good at the original $50.If you say youll do something in the 3 days, do it or dont say you will. I understand being busy and that Im not the only customer, but be honest upfront! Additionally, dont be like other businesses that push the price up post-facto in hopes that the customer wont notice or make a fuss.
Does great things
Best Guns: Andrew Macfarlane has been my gunsmith for over a decade. He has worked on no less than a dozen British SxSs over that time. His talent and dedication to his craft are unmatched. Andrew did a restock and full restoration on a pair of Vintage Langs that will rival the work of any gunsmith in the US. His charges are market level fair. His work exceptional. You wont be disappointed with Andrew. He is honest with you and will save you money over the years by avoiding buying mistakes. A superb gunsmith.
Recently had ADM install a Volquartsen accurizing kit on my Ruger Mk. III 22/45. Just took it to the range over the weekend and put 500+ rounds through it, and the difference between the after-market and stock trigger is like night and day. Thanks to Andrew for the great work, Ill definitely continue to use you guys in the future.
I was referred to Andrew and ADM Gun about 4 years ago from an Olympic shooter by the name of Sean McClelland, who competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Wow!! Did Sean help me and my son and an untold number of other shooters on my sons shooting team and countless others.Andrews knowledge of not only guns but human anatomy is blended together to bring an ultimate match/fit to a shooter and their sporting shotgun or rifle. In working with my son, ADM Guns did custom fittings on both of his competition guns and scores dramatically increased. Not only that, but the years of actual shooting knowledge that you get when with Andrew and ADM Gun is incredible. Not only has Andrew matched my son and his gun to perfection he has also worked with my son on his actual shooting habits by going with him out to the range. In short, I cannot recommend Andrew MacFarlane and ADM Guns any higher than am right now. Virtually everything he has done for my son and his teammates has helped improve their shooting. If your looking to have some work done on your gun, go no further than ADM Gun & Andrew MacFarlane. He has worked with Olympians, World Champions and even helped my son come in 3rd High Overall in Sporting Clays in The 2016 YTF Texas State Shooting Championships held at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, TX,. Be smart, talk to Andrew at ADM first.
Andrew and his team are amazing, I will always be a costumer.
Andrew keeped my two CZ rifles for two years for stock refinishing . The stocks looked like they have been dipped in HOG WASH . He also try to ripp me off of hundreds of dollars. Very bad experience. Trust me -- stay a way !!!!!!!!!!!
The definition of expert and professional. Very impressed.
Excellent work!! He’s the best!!
Awesome. Andrew just takes care of whatever the problem you might have. Pleasure to do business with.
World Class at his craft
