Myself, my daughter, my son and his girlfriend are wrapping up our open water cert this weekend. Cannot recommend ScubaKevin and the staff at Atlantis Dive shop enough. Fun, knowledgeable. Help work through problems. Great prices on gear. When was the last time you did something for the first time?!
Kevin runs a great shop! We learned a lot. We needed more time to perfect some skills and he was able to accommodate us! thanks to him we were FULLY prepared to get Certified and go on our 1st and 2nd dives in Hawaii (off Lanai, 80 feet of awesomeness!)Kevin does a great job of let you practice the skills to build muscle memory to where much of it became natural after awhile! Always building to enhance learning!I would highly recommend him to EVERYONE - young - old, etc.
I just received my PADI open water diving certification from Eco and am so glad this is the place I chose! The entire staff was awesome and you can really tell how much they love working together. My instructor Angie was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, supportive and FUN! I dont know if I would have enjoyed the experience so much without her and her killer pink scuba gear :) thanks Angie for helping this sometimes nervous novice feel completely at home out in the water. Such a thrill!!
Scuba Kev is the man!! Great instructor with lots of patience. My buddy was a little “loosey goosey” when it came to comprehension and passing his skills tests. Kevin worked with him one on one until he was fully prepared and trained. Kev even got him a special head piece for his loose mask. 5 star guy. Highly recommend his training.
ScubaKev and Atlantis Scuba are incredibly awesome!!! I cannot recommend them highly enough!!Kevin is a former Marine Corps officer -- Harrier Pilot -- and teaches like he was trained. Compentently, confidently, methodically, and calmly. He instills incredible confidence and talks you through any questions or concerns that you have.I would, and am trusting myself and my entire family to him.P.S. I saw the one bad review on here regarding this business, and Im assuming the owner, Kevin. Obviously, this person did not ask a follow up question. My experience was this: I literally walked up to the shop as it was being closed for the day -- on a day that Kevin was going out of town. He took the time to bring me inside and give me information about his upcoming classes. When we saw that I couldnt make an upcoming class work prior to my trip, he told me that I may be able to find available classes elsewhere (a kind gesture). I texted him asked about his private classes (he had given me his cell number) -- AS HE SAYS ARE AVAILABLE, BOTH ON THE PAPERWORK AND ON HIS WEBSITE. He answered me promptly and said that yes, that was something that we could make work, but warned me that it was more costly -- which was a kind gesture, since the easy thing to do that would have benefitted him would have been to push me to do it. I let him know that I really needed it by a certain time, he worked with my schedule and made it work so that I was able to get fully and completely trained prior to my upcoming trip.Once again, I cannot say enough good things. If you have always wanted to Scuba Dive, as I have, go to Atlantis Scuba and talk to Kevin. You will not be disappointed.Update: Its now 2+ years later. I finished my SCUBA on the trip to Maui and had a great time. I was 100% confident, based on the training that I had received from Kevin at Atlantis Scuba. In addition to the Check Dives to complete my certification, I did four other boat dives and was completely comfortable based on the training I had received from Kevin. Unfortunately, I let two years go by without using my training, but recently, my 13 year old has gotten interested in getting certified. We did two private lessons in our home pool with both my 13 year old and 11 year old -- sort of an Intro to Scuba type thing. The 11 year old did not want to go on with training, but the 13 year old loves it. We have now done several more private lessons, and I have done some of the classes with my son as Refresher Classes. This past weekend, we did a couple of private check dives with Kevin at a local lake. My son is close to finishing his Open Water Certification and I have gotten in two more Open Water dives. The bottom line is that you will be very pleased with training at Atlantis and with ScubaKev. He is very patient, thorough, and personable. He is the opposite of high pressure sales. In fact, he bends over backwards to not over-charge. Frankly, I dont think he charges enough. I cannot imagine that other instrutors are as thorough as him -- he is former Marine Corps Fighter Jet Pilot, so he knows how to walk through checklists thoroughly and completely every time. And in fact, last week at the lake, after over hearing Kevins instructions and guidance to my son and me, another group of divers interrupted us to tell me how fortunate we were to have someone like Kevin instructing us. They said that they got none of what he was giving us, during their classes.
I recently took my advanced PADI certification with Kevin and after returning home from a diving trip to Roatan, I truly feel blessed to have had him as my instructor. After a 22 year hiatus from diving, I was amazed at how comfortable and confident I was in varying diving situations. I can’t thank Kevin enough for his knowledge and expertise in helping me become a better diver as he is one of the best!
We decided to go ahead and get our PADI Open Water Scuba cert. for some upcoming trips. Myself and our 2 teenage boys took the class with ScubaKev. I can not say enough good things about his instruction and attention to detail in our training. He really knows his stuff and made us very comfortable and confident in our ability to scuba dive. Our oldest son is even going to continue his training. Thank you again Atlantis Scuba for everything!!!
Kevin is a great SCUBA instructor because he has years of experience and can tolerate a whiner like me! Kevin did not have a class scheduled for the time my son and I needed one, but went ahead and opened a weekend up to accommodate our needs. He initially comes across as being laid back, but his military background comes shining through once youre in the water. We really enjoyed the experience overall.
Ive known Kevin with Atlantis Scuba for years. Great instructor with decades of experience. I would highly recommend going on any of his dive trips that he has scheduled through his shop. He recently certified my 13 year old daughter. I have recommended many family and friends to him and they all give high thumbs up for the service they received
The Scuba Instructor is probably the best in the DFW area. Prepared, thorough, deliberate and detail oriented, I believe I got the best training my money can buy and continued to add certifications with Atlantis Scuba as my experience has grown over the years. In fact, because of the quality of the instruction and the caliber of the Dive Master, I had the remainder of my family trained there as well.
Walked into the shop. The man greeted me with a hey, what can I do for you?, I replied I was wondering if I could get some information on the dive classes? He replied for when? I stated mid September. He then pulls out a paper that contains a class date for mid September, and places it on the counter. He says yea, that one is full. Then walks away and says I would try Grapevine. He then says Do you have a trip coming up?, I stated No. And once again he says yea, I would try Grapevine. I stated okay thanks and walked out.The man was very vague, quiet, and obviously did not care about customer service. He never even offered me private lessons. He was more focused on getting me to go somewhere else, he could have cared less about what I was looking for, or needed.I would strongly recommend staying away from this establishment.
Kevin is the man, he has been very helpful and informative with the process of getting certified. Plan on taking more classes and trips with him in the future. I recommended him to my friends and family.
I cant believe that just because I didnt train with these people they refuse to sell me equipment. There are better shops in the area that will take care of you no matter what.
Kevin is a great instructor and Im learning a ton!
Ive rented a lot of gear from them on several occasions. Never pushy, always nice and helpful.
Kevin is the man. Extremely experienced staff, honest people.
Good honest instruction and equipment available
