Definitely the best experience I have ever had with any U-Haul location. Edgar in particular went above and beyond to give us as much time as possible to remove everything from our U-Box container.I am removing one star --- not for anything any one person did --- but because management really needs to schedule more people, especially on weekends. The skeleton crew that was there were doing the best they could, but they need more support from upper management.

I flew into town to help my daughter move. The crew at this location are the best in the business. I am only sorry I did not take names but from truck rental, to storage I went to the best place. Bonuses all around.

Booked a trailer hitch appointment, super friendly service. Dropped it off in the afternoon and was able to pick it up the same day. Edgar Lopez was amazing, took the time to explain the wiring and gave us tips on how to properly use everything. We had an appointment to install a hitch at 10AM on Sunday. When we showed up at 10 AM the guy named Edgar said that they had an accident and could not do it at that time. Edgar suggested that he could install the hitch later in the day and it could be done by 4PM. We left the car and went home. When we showed up at 4:45 Edgar laughed and said that they had so much sh*t goinf on that he totally forgot about our hitch. And they did charge the full amount a week before the appointment. They did return the money but they ruined our Sunday and did not do anything.

Absolutely horrible experience. Will never come back here again. Super short staffed on a busy weekend for moving. We had a reservation for 9AM and didn’t get our truck until 12PM. Only one staff working and easily 30 people waiting in line to pick up after having made a reservation. Would NOT recommend. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.

This is the best uhaul center Ive ever been to. They had my ubox available right when I had asked for it to be accessible, they provided me the same kind of truck I had reserved, and the line of customers moved very quickly. These seem like simple things, I know, but with my previous experiences at other uhaul locations, it was a pleasant surprise. Plus everyone working here was incredibly nice!

I use uhaul often to rent trucks for my work. This location always seems so busy with huge waiting lines. It seems they are always understaffed.No one staff member should have to check you out & take you outside to your equipment when there is a line 10+ deep. Rarely do I see more than one person at a register even though there are three.I have had questionable experiences with apathetic staff members. But I can look past that, these folks probably aren’t paid enough and don’t seem to be very well supported.

If I could give a lower rating I would. Incredibly slow service for what should have been an easy pick up. When we complained, they cancelled our order. With all of the other UHaul locations in the area, Id recommend going anywhere else.

Incredibly understaffed. Only one worker processing people and grabbing the rentals. Not his fault -- he was doing his best -- but we waited several hours to pick up, for what should have taken 15 min. Awful experience. Would not recommend this U-Haul location.

I had gone online weeks before to setup an appointment. Got there the morning of my appointment, and was helped by Edgar. By the time I got up to the register, they had already checked my plate and confirmed the appointment. I just had to leave the keys. They called me around noon to tell me my car was done. When I got there, Edgar explained what they had done and complimented me on my car. He said if he had my car, hed put some phat rims on it and I gave him a fist pump. I found the receipt in the car and I was ready to go. Super easy.

I have been waiting for 1 hour and a half to get a truck. Behind me still have a ton of people waiting but they don’t care. Slow working than ‘SLOT’

This review is for Edgar Lopez at Uhaul Somerville. Edgar was amazing from start to finish. We arrived to pick up our reserved auto hauler only to find that the previous customer hadn’t returned it. Edgar called around, found another car hauler (hard to find), comped us the cost, and had us back on the road in under an hour. Amazing customer service from a kind and professional individual. It was Easter Sunday, but Edgar was there because he “loves his job at Uhaul.” It shows. Thank you.

Waited 20 mins for someone to acknowledge me to get a propane refill before just leaving. There were no employees inside and the bell was ignored.

Absolutely the worst service I’ve ever had. I was going to get a hitch installed and they didn’t have the hitch so they blew up my phone at 8 am to tell me but ended up taking my money. Still waiting on the refund. You’re better of putting it on yourself. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING UHAUL FOR ANY SERVICES.

Booked an appointment more than a week in advance for a trailer hitch install. They kept my car all day, the car did not move from where I parked it. No phone call to explain why they didnt install the hitch and no apology. Terrible customer service and very unorganized place.

I come here regularly for propane. They seem to always be busy but they couldnt be more cordial. I think its remarkable given the stress of their jobs, that theyre so consistently friendly. I actually enjoy my little propane-refilling visits.Manny, the manager, is a great guy and is committed to exemplary customer service. Kudos to Manny, Ivan, and their entire staff.

They are renting trucks without inspection and putting in a risk the life of the customers . I rented a truck from Somerville / Boston to Nashville, so the gas pipeline was broken, I had to trigger so many times to fill up the tank. So I had to smell the gas, the gas was dripping on my shoes. No alignment and balance, the whole trip the car was pulling me to the right. They are rising the prices and they made me pay the full price for that car that is not able to travel anywhere .Customer service does not care about this. U-Haul Don’t risk people’s lives anymore.

DO NOT USE UBOX SERVICES!! My moving experience with Uhaul was absolutely terrible. I was moving from Boston to LA and thought ubox was the cheapest and easiest way. The entire experience was terrible and ended up costing more money than a more expensive mover. My Uboxes were not ready on the day they were supposed to be ready and my mover waited hours at the Uhaul. I wasnt able to get an actual answer on when my boxes would be ready until I had to drive down to the store myself.Then, as I am driving across the country, I happened to check online and saw that my boxes would not be arriving by my guaranteed arrival date. I was already traveling to LA and could not turn back at that point. I was NEVER alerted by anyone at Uhaul that my boxes would be delayed and was told it was company policy to not email until the day before it doesnt arrive (an email that I also did not get). I was told my boxes were delayed because they were not picked up at the scheduled date, so someone at Uhaul knew they would be delayed for at least week at this point but I was not contacted. Instead, I had to make last minute arrangements because I was showing up in a new city with none of my belongings. Hotels and flight changes cost an additional $1,000 that I am not reimbursed for.To top it all off, I was then not notified when my boxes did actually arrive in LA, and only found out they were there after sitting on hold (once again) for at least an hour.I understand delays happen. However, I have never used a service with such disregard for customer service. The employees are just going through the motions and if there is an issue, it is up to you to find it on your own. Definitely worth the money to use a better moving service that is actually able to answer your questions and treat your stuff with care.

Edgar was a cool, friendly, and professional guy ! He assisted me when I had a rental issue, and made it as swift and smooth as possible. Would recommend U-Haul of Sommerville for anyones moving/packing/truck-trailer rental services.

Overall, just felt like there was a pathetic regard for customer service and safety. The manager was not wearing a face mark inside the store. I politely and apologetically asked if he would please put one on and he said that the plexiglass shield should be sufficient. He finally slipped on on -- under his nose. The first truck he assigned to me had an oil change overdue light on, so I had to ask for a different truck. Again, he was not wearing a face mask when its the law in Somerville to wear a face mask.

Juan and Edgar were 💯. Give these guys a raise.

We reserved an after hours rental for 10:30 pm, which we receive multiple confirmations for and were charged for. There was no truck ready for pick up when we arrived and no one at the location. After waiting for a half hour on the phone to speak with someone to no avail, I finally heard back from the company via Facebook messenger. They simply said that there was not a truck available for pick up and that we would have to go back in the morning. As with anyone renting a moving truck, we are moving on a tight schedule which has been completely destroyed by this mistake. The worst part is that we were staring at easily multiple trucks that could have been ours.

Booked UBoxes for a big move and had the best experience at this uhaul. The manager, and his team were very professional and helpful. I had several bad experiences with uhaul in the past and I wasnt looking forward to this move, but Manny made sure I was taken care of every step of the way. They were by far the best! I cant recommend this uhaul enough. If you have a choice between uhaul locations, Id pick this one.

Make an appointment for a trailer hitch, then they change the time by several hours . Try calling and they never pick up the phone.... terrible service, you can’t even get ahold of them to check status of your car.

Was told on move-in day that no storage units were available and that the reservation I had made online in June, including my credit card details, didnt matter - the website is useless, I was told. I was not offered any confirmation of them cancelling on me in writing and hence no real guarantee that I wont be charged despite their mismanagement. Now I have nowhere to move to with absolutely zero notice.

I was scheduled to pick up a truck here on the day of the storm in January. I called ahead to ask to postpone pick-up, and they connected to me to a central scheduling office because it was a one-way rental and they couldnt chance the date (in the end, not a problem). Then when I picked the truck up the day after the storm, they had parked it under an overhang to reduce the amount of snow on top, had warmed the truck up, and cleared off any additional snow that they could. They double checked the gas and mileage as well. I appreciated the thoroughness and efforts to ensure my rental pick-up went smoothly!

Rented a U-Haul to move apartments and worked with the most incredible staff. Juan and Andrea were positive and accommodating despite the U-Haul system being down. Included completary services and rounded out for 10/10 service.

Had no problems. Got the vehicle on time, staff was courteous. Overall pleasant experience. I was a little worried after seeing all the low rating reviews, and since I needed the van at the end of May, which is a crazy moving time, but I had no issues.

Ordered a van online and they said they didnt have any left so they upgraded me to a truck. I didnt think it was an upgrade because the truck used more gas but turns out my stuff would probably not have fit in a van alone. So it was a blessing in disguise. The store itself is small and quiet. They do have a large selection of vehicles to choose from, though.

The return process did not work and wasted 2 hours of my time. U-Hauls customer service was not responsive with no response for over 30 minutes overall. I would recommend AGAINST using U-Haul until their level of service is improved.The truck itself was fine and clean. If its your first time driving such truck, have someone with you to guide you while driving reverse.

U-Hauls website doesnt make it clear that what they charge per-mile. In comparison, Budget Trucks website makes this very clear. I thought that U-Haul was giving me a better price and reserved a truck. When I arrived to pick up my truck I found out that Id have to pay an additional ~$100 for the trip I had planned. I was nervous about coming here, but I had an awesome experience. Andrea was a big help in getting my pickup ordered and ready and Micheal even helped me with bringing some of my boxes back to my car (out of the rental). The place was clean and organized, and everyone seemed professional. Ill be using them again.

Manuel, who works at the front desk, was SUPER helpful. He helped save me time and money and really made the moving experience less stressful. Though UHaul isnt always the most reliable when you make a reservation for a truck, Manuel was extremely helpful and customer service oriented.

Had a hitch installed here. In the process they knocked out a brake light and disabled my automatic side mirror adjuster. I do not recommend having any of these buffoons get anywhere near your vehicles fuse box.

I had an order booked for a week. They changed it HALF AN HOUR before my scheduled pickup time to a location on the opposite side of town. Dont bother with these jokers. Just go to the one on rt 16. They have always been 100x more helpful.

Im being charged by UHaul Somerville and Ive never stepped foot in that location. I moved my stuff from Boston to Dallas but being charged storage from Somerville? All in one day, I loaded my stuff on a trailer in Cambridge and sent it on its way to Texas, where I unloaded in a day. Suddenly I get nearly a random $200 storage bill from Somerville, MA a month later? Again, this isnt even the location I did business with in the first place and their records should clearly indicated there was never any storage involved. Honestly, this screams fraudulent and Im sure they dont care because they just took someones hard earned money. I dont even know where to begin to dispute this charge.

The staff are friendly and helpful! However the facility for storage is older it is not climate controlled and is a bit musty. I originally made my reservation through UHAUL central appointment line and they reserved a 1st floor climate controlled 10x10 unit however they did not have these options available when I arrived despite me making the reservation 6 weeks in advance. I was assured through the central appointment line that my reservation was held and called 2 weeks out to confirm and the day before to confirm. I was little surprised when i arrived the did not have it available. They had a 1st floor put it was an upper unit that you have to use movable stairs to load into there were also mouse droppings in the unit. The stairs are shaky and I did not feel safe at all. The next day I went in to move out and the staff were again very helpful and friendly. I think it is a corporate problem definitely not at all on the staff.

We ordered a uhaul and reserved a storage unit. Everything went smoothly with the uhual reservation, but we never got our storage unit. We were told that they purposely overbook the units to ensure maximum profit. The unit they had for us was not the unit we were promised. It was tucked all the way in the back, way smaller than the size we needed, and you had to CLIMB A LADDER to get to the unit. We had to then leave from that Uhaul location and drive out an 1hr BOTH WAYS to find our own storage. We had to fill the tank TWICE, because when we tried to drop it off the first time, (and they denied us our unit), we had already filled the tank. But because they are LIARS we had to fill it again once we found storage and got back from our 2hr drive. They completely ripped us off... LIARS

Terrible service. Return doesnt show up on the app, and as I called, they kept circling me around without giving me a clear answer. Had to wait a long time for queues, only answer I am getting is to call them again. Very unhelpful customer service.

I was very fortunate to enlist U-Haul 151 Lindwood St, Sommerville MA for a move into Bostons North End. It was a tricky move and Manny Campos (manager) went out of his way to assist us. His staff were equally helpful when he wasnt around. It was like having your family help you move into a tight location. THANK YOU so very much.Unfortunate there are only 5 stars, these guys deserve 10 stars!!!

Got a moving truck from here and had a great experience!

Long line when we arrived (which is annoying when were moving). Issue with the truck too way too long to fix because they didnt try, but instead made us use a 3rd party & had to wait for them to come.Cheaply priced moving van though, so cant complain too much.

Rented a space here one month ago and was happy to get this done as it was close to where we lived. Got a receipt and email confirmation. When I show up today, I was told that the space that I rented was unavailable and I was offered another smaller, dankier space. All this while the truck with my stuff was en route.Horrendous service. When I called uhaul customer service I was told a general manager would call me soon. Never heard back. Stay away from this place.

I had no complains. Reserved the truck, got the truck. I able to extend the drop off time and add another trolly. I can see how things get out of hand on a big moving day but on a regular Saturday I have nothing to complain. Maybe a note: the trucks use A LOT of fuel. I can see how people think they are cheating when they need them to fuel up. I did it myself and I was shocked how much fuel I used.

I wish I was one of the people who had a good experience here, but unfortunately I am not. The customer service was absolutely terrible. We book our appointment to pick up our Ubox three weeks in advance. When we arrived they couldnt find the box, and after 20 minutes of waiting we ended up finding the box ourselves. We then had to wait for the employee to load it into a trailer. He was moving the forklift very dangerously and also used it to move the trailer. Also, a different employee, without telling us, got in the truck we had rented, moved it out of her way, running smack into the hitch of a trailer multiple times, and then did not return the truck to where she had found it. They also did not check to see if the electrical connection between the trailer and truck was working, so we did it ourselves. So, so bad. All of the other Uhauls Ive been to have been great, but this location was terrible, at least the day we went.

After 45 minutes of messing around they finally canceled someone elses order to fulfill mine.Returned the truck that night with the EXACT right amount of fuel as what I left with. receive the bill the next day via e-mail and they tacked on $45 for a fuel surcharge.Will never rent from Uhaul again, avoid at all costs

The worst place to rent a U-Haul... They charged me for Stuff I didnt do. Their fuel reading was wrong. And when I called they simply didnt solve it. Will never do it from there at all.

Worst U-Haul ever. We scheduled an appointment to have a hitch installed, showed up on our scheduled day, waited in line for ~45 minutes only to find out they didnt have us on the schedule. THEN, we reschedule for a few days later and they say it will take ~1hr to install.... so we wait over an hour and they havent even started on it and the guy who installs them is NO WHERE to be found. Left and will NEVER go back.

Parking is available but small and shared with the actual rental trucks. Staff is friendly. Returns after hours are done online and require a very tedious and long process including taking camera photos in order to submit your return. No questions are answered if they arent part of the FAQ.

Terrible service. Request a 24 hr booking at a location, but they changed the booking time and location to something totally different. Customer service not helpful. Will never use this service again.
