The staff is always so helpful - seems like they have the solution and parts I need for just about everything. Love that they have plants delivered twice a week.

We had a person come over and measure for French Doors about a month ago for an estimate on installation and purchase of the doors.We have not been contacted since by anyonefrom Dixieline, no estimate, nothing!! this is after calling several times and explaining this to at least four individual employees.We will get Home Depot or another company to get the job done. I’m guessing that they are either too busy or not organized, it seems like the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing with these people ( or maybe they don’t like money )Almost kind of comical how hard we tried to get them to do the job when they obviously don’t seem to care . Someone in their corporate office needs to step in, I’m sure it’s not good for any company to turn away business.

This Dixieline is not as big as your typical Home Depot or Lowe’s, but they still have an excellent selection of your basic home improvement and hardware needs. Prices are similar to the bigger stores as well. Staff was plentiful and very helpful.

I tried calling to see if they had SOD Grass and the women at the front just left me on hold 2 times for 15 minutes before someone else picked up, with no idea what I was asking for, and told me they didn’t have it. I could have made it into Home Depot where they do have it, and back, before they gave me an answer over the phone. I have also had some good experiences with some of the employees which is why this is not a 1 star review. I must admit, the majority of my experiences here are mediocre but the memorable ones have all been on the more unfortunate side. They won’t even let you return items without a receipt even if you have the same card that you purchased them with. Bad customer service to say the least.

Overall this is a very good place to go if youre looking for anything you might find in a larger size home improvement store. The only issue I run into is certain products are hard to find and because the store is so busy it seems like because the store is so busy it can be hard to find someone to assist you. Overall I would recommend shopping here because the employees when available are very helpful and the inventory is unique and extensive. It is also conveniently located for people who live in Del Mar or Solana Beach.

SO SO ! When we need stuff for around the house I usually hit Home Depot or Lowes because both have the same model...lots of stuff and no service ! Of course when you go to the smaller stores like Ace or even these guys you know you are gonna pay more but you expect to get some SERVICE ! On Monday I popped in here to pick up 3 items I needed..a small bag of hickory chunks, a bag of potting soil and a spray can of a rust converting product. I saw some bags of potting soil stacked against a wall out the front of the store so I grabbed one and carried it in with me. I walked in the front entrance around 2.45pm and there were a bunch of staff inside the checkout enclosure to my right...no one greeted me. I did hear one staff member yell out for everyone to hear....does anyone remember the password for the wi-fi ? I walked past and I was completely ignored. I walked around to the other side of the checkout counter and put the bag of potting down. I asked for someone to point me in the direction of the hickory chunks and the spray can of anti rust. Some guy who was talking to a supplier in there middle of an aisle pointed me in 2 different directions for the stuff I needed. I found the hickory chunks but the paint section was a little overwhelming and I had to ask the same guy again ( he sounded irritated when she led me to the little spot in the paint aisle where he handed me a can of Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer ) and then walked off. Not the friendliest service I have encountered lately. I walked over to the checkout counter and paid. The mature female cashier kindly walked around to the other side of the counter and retrieved a shopping cart for me. I think I will stick to Home Depot or Lowes next time !

Showed up 430 p.m. and sign outside says we are open normal business hours! So normal is closing at 4 p.m.! What a joke. Two other customers walked up to find it closed. 4 p.m. closure is unacceptable

Every time I go to ask one of the clerks for plant knowledge, they are the best and catches me by surprise on how much knowledge they have about plants and what soil to use! Bruce was awesome! Answered all my questions and went into detail 👌 definitely better than home depot

You know that special light bulb real high on your ceiling that never burns out and is 50 years old. Well it finally burned out and of course the only place that had a replacement bulb was Dixieland. Way to go D/L!!

Been going to Dixieline Solana Beach since the late 70’s as a kid and over a dozen years as a homeowner since we moved back to the Del Mar area. The entire team is so knowledgable, professional and helpful. I love seeing guys like Bruce & Miles and knowing this store has just what I need to get the job done right. Highly recommend them!

Marni in the paint dept is a goddess! Spent time w/me as I was having a really hard time finding a gray paint that I liked. I learned so much about choosing paint and matching colors. I will never buy paint anywhere else from anyone else ever again! I just wish I had talked to her before I went to three other paint stores and bought 12 samples of “gray” paint that were all wrong once they were on the wall.Thank you, Marni.

I requested a lumber and window quote online and never received a response. I called the store and was told that no one could speak with me and to call back later. I commented to the employee that it seems like they do mot care and his response was they had a rough week in the lumber department. They obviously do not want to be bothered by customers ordering lumber.

I bought my Diamond kitchen from Dixieline Solana Beach in 2016. The lady I worked with was efficient and did an excellent job sizing the cabinets, which look great and function perfectly. It took an hour to design the remodeled kitchen, so we did have to make an appointment. We chose cherry cabinets and quartz countertops which I love. Ive had the kitchen a year, I love it, and I recommend the team at Dixieline Solana Beach if you are planning a similar project.

The stuff you need, without the hassle of a giant home store. People who know their stuff, know where stuff is, and arent afraid to help. A good place.

Friendly staff, good quality products. A little more expensive than some other building material stores, but the quality is better. Lumber yard can get crowded and you could get caught in the circle. So I recommend, I you only have a few pieces, park outside and carry your materials to your vehicle.

Convenient. Easy to find things I needed. Staff accomdated me when I asked a question. My only criticism is the staff wasnt all that friendly. I know I look a pencil pusher (I am in fact a pencil pusher who rides a desk). But I am just as handy and capable as any construction booth wearing worken man having grown up in a DYI familia. I feel like my suit and tie tagged me as an outsider. Its as if their eyes said youre not from around these parts! Hahaha! Other than that I will definitely be back. Maybe next time Ill walk in with proper attire. 😉

Go for the high prices, stay for the horrible service.I dont know what it is with this place...I cant think of any other business that openly harbors such absolute contempt for their customers. Doesnt matter if Im asking for assistance from someone in the aisles, placing an order at the lumber counter, going through check out, or picking up from the lumber yard, across the board everyone is just...bitchy.Plus, the prices are high, it closes early, and the quality of most items from the lumber yard seem to be subpar. The only reason I keep going back is it saves me 45 minutes over going up to Home Depot or down to J&W.

Horrible: Went in three separate times to have the customer desk find payment info for my bill. It took 20-30 min each time & they found no record. Finally a long time employee, Arnold, quickly found the invoice and my problem was solved. Clearly store training is inadequate.The paint deptartment also has gone down hill since losing Jackie whowas an expert.Ive been going there for 30+ years and will now go elsewhere.The paint dept personnel are uninformed. Close to useless.
