They are fraud,I had enrolled my 3 year old for the classes. They tried to convince to go for 18 months program, i said I will think about it, after the class is started, they sent our kid out in the middle of the class. They even pulled our kid and told us to take away. Now he mentioned to that my kid is younger. What kind of behavior is this? Disgusting and unprofessional. I do not recommend. They are behind money.

As a student at Tonchu, I have to say that out of any of the Martial Arts schools in the Atlanta Area this is the most high quality and respectful place I have ever been too. Many professionals that have made it up to nationals in all devisions will train you to be the best you can be. Tonchu is not about just breaking boards or kicking each other, its a place where people can learn life lessons that will stick with them through out life. With there belt and uniform system, depending on your skill level you will be placed into a class with other people who have the same experience as you. Here age doesnt matter, you could be 4 years old to 90 years old and it wont matter. Tonchu, no Martial Arts is for everyone! As long as you have to determination to do it you can. So if you do plan on enrolling into a form of Martial Arts, I suggest that you come to this academy.

Awesome staff! I love how they have patience with the little kids. I brought my son here because he needed help with self discipline. Weve only been coming here for 6 weeks and my son has made Tremendous Positive Results! We will definitely continue to come. Great place to have your kids to come learn and get involved.

CONTRACT TRAP, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!After 4 years of being a loyal client they wouldn’t work with me in the last 2 month of the contract due to Covid-19!! They closed the place and switched to online classes and that isn’t working for us at this time and we didn’t initially sign up for virtual classes!! I contacted instructor For the location from location and he advised there are two months in my contract and after that I can cancel. I tried to explain there are only two months left of 4 years, but he said (verbally) “yes i can cancel the contract but I wouldn’t do it!”At this point I couldn’t continue the conversation anymore with that mentality or the attitude!They have no empathy and they didn’t even try to keep a loyal customer through the difficult time from business perspective.Covid 19 is the time where you can see how businesses handle their clients and employees!! They teach courtesy But have no courtesy whatsoever during this tough time on everyone !!It is sad that they chose 2 months worth of money versus a loyal client who once considered this place family!!I trusted this place with my son for 4 years and I was wrong, this place has no values or principles to teach your kids, it’s all blah blah blah to get your money. That’s all!DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT THIS PLACE.

Grand Master Chung and his team are top notch. My daughter just turned 7 and has been attending for about 4 months now and we really see a difference in her abilities to focus and complete tasks which was our main reason for seeking out Martial Arts in the first place. She has also improved her confidence, and physical strength. I get just as much out of the class by watching. Grand Master Chungs parables about life are inspirational and thought provoking. They treat all of their students with respect and dignity while at the same time maintaining strict discipline. I would highly recommend Tonchu Martial Arts.

My kids have been taking Martial Arts at Tonchu since it opened in Smyrna and prior to that with the former master in the same location. Id say two things stand out: Sense of belonging and commitment to improvement.The health and mental benefits of being in martial arts as well as confidence in self defense were my initial reasons for joining TaeKwonDo. The reason my family has been continuing to attend for 15 years is because once you become part of their family, they invest in the student and their family in ways that truly amaze me.I have received so much support as we work together to align our family, school and martial goals to create a system of accountability that really works with kids. Their commitment to each students improvement and safety is evident in how Grand Master Chung always checks and asks if anyone is hurt, or needs support and his expectation that all instructors offer that same level of personal attention.Grand Master Chung has a great vision and develops experiences, especially as they enter the black belt level, in which the students resolve, commitment and endurance are tested and graded. The testing system and curriculum rotation ensure a variety of techniques, weapons and forms are learned. The environment is focused but friendly, purposeful and supportive. All my kids went through periods where they wanted to give up, and all are happy as they overcame their mental and physical obstacles to continue.I think Tonchu really cares about the student. Sometimes its hard to see your child struggle, but their satisfaction and what they draw from both success and failures provide a solid and tangible lesson they can carry for the rest of their lives in and outside the mat.I highly recommend Tonchu for anyone, regardless of their abilities and especially for kids who struggle to stay focused.

My daughter trains at the Dacula location. She has been there for about a year. I cannot say enough positive things about this program. I have seen her grow mentally and physically since she has been there. She is stronger, more focused, and has a lot more confidence. The instructors truly care about their students and it shows. They genuinely take an interest in their lives and are there to help in any way they can. We tried another karate school before we came to this one. The saying is true..you get what you pay for and at Tonchu we get quality instruction with a personal touch. We are very happy to be a part of the Tonchu Martial Arts family. I cant wait to see the growth my daughter makes in this next year. I would highly recommend this school to anyone!

We love Tonchu! Our 2 young sons recently started taking classes at Tonchu and we are very happy with the experience. They are getting good exercise and learning amazing physical and life skills at the same time. I love Tonchu Martial Arts. My kids (now 11 and 12) have been going to Tonchu Martial Arts for years and over the course of time through their martial arts study I have seen them gain more confidence, become better focused and mature. The program is about character building and not just martial arts. This does not happen over night so I am willing to make a long term commitment for my kids.

This is a phenomenal academy that encourages discipline, attentiveness and hard work from each student. Each belt level requires the student be proficient in that level before being considered for testing.Our girls get a sense of pride in knowing they have to work hard to earn each belt level. The atmosphere is very encouraging and there is also a sense of comradery among the students.There is also input from school teachers who answer questionnaires on how the student can become a better individual and how they are doing at school. All students are encouraged to be just as dedicated in their school work as they are at the academy.Not sure yet??? My son is in the Tonchu Academy 4 years now; cannot say enough good things about this academy. Belts at Tonchu have to be earned and the black belt testing is pretty rigorous. Master Chung and his team of instructors are simply amazing with the kids - the classes are taught in a manner that is geared towards life lessons. A competitive spirit, respect and discipline is always enforced in the most encouraging environment.

Tonchu has been such a great experience for my daughter. We came here in search of a program to help build her confidence, but what we have received is so much more. The instructors instill in the students excellent leadership skills, respect for community, teamwork, commitment, and self respect. My daughters confidence has indeed improved, but more than that the quality of her life all together is better because of this program.

Absolutely phenomenal! I recently began taking classes and I feel like it was one of the best decisions I could have made. The instructors are very professional as well as courteous and friendly. The curriculum does not focus on just martial arts, it also focuses on becoming a better individual physically, mentally, and emotionally. As a student, you progress at your own rate, and are not subjected to ridiculous standards that demotivate you. It is something not just for young children, but also for teens and adults. As a mother and a student I strongly recommend that if youre on the fence about training....just do it!!! Your entire life will change!

Placing our son under the discipline and guidance of Grand Master Chung and his team of Martial Artists was one of the best parenting decisions my wife and I have made. What a great activity for both children and their families!!! My daughters confidence level has boosted in the year shes been part of Grand Master Chungs academy. Great...until you try to leave. Instructors seemed amazing, sincere. Courtesy, modesty, integrity, respect. It all goes out the window when you try to cancel. I was told I signed my eight year old daughter up for a black belt course for FOUR YEARS. Uh, no. I would never have knowingly committed to that. We moved 20 miles away and they are threatening me with $4400 owed or Ill need to drive 20 miles each way for lessons on a weekend. I anticipate collections will come calling and this will end of in court. COMPLETELY FRAUDULENT scammers. Not to mention the belt testing is extra and last time my daughter nearly broke her foot and they would not let her quit. Deplorable.

My grandson has been attending for about a year and a half.The classes provide him with discipline and the opportunity to follow directions. Additionally, he has the opportunity to interact with his peers. I think it is a wonderful extra curricular activity for young children, in particular. As a teacher, I can appreciate how the class instructions transfer to the academic classroom.

My son has been training at Tonchu Martial Arts for over a year now! At Tonchu, the instructors are incredible! Grand Master Chung is very involved and attentive to all the students! They are very organized and always have my sons best interest in mind!

Tonchu is a good martial arts school in the Atlanta area. However, if for some unforeseen circumstances you cannot send your kids to Tonchu anymore, you will be harassed for years by their collection agencies, which will be attempting to collect for future services not provided by the school. I had to take my kids out of Tonchu due to economic circumstances that arose, and we had to move from the area. I am still three years later having to fight collection agencies to take 3 years of not taken classes from my credit reports. The school will not help you even if they tell you they understand your situation. It seems to me that the value of integrity that tjey attempt to instill in children is not present within them and because of this I do not recommend them.

We love Tonchu! Grand Master Chung is great with the kids and has personally helped my son in the area of self-discipline. We looked into other schools before joining and concluded that Tonchu was the best.

Grand Master Johnson is an excellent professional in Martial Arts. I enjoy watching him teacher my son Lee Stargell new skills to help him develop. It is definitely a pleasure to watch.Lee is becoming better and his discipline has enhanced also.

I cant say enough about Tonchu academy. Our son has been practicing at the studio for almost a year now. The discipline and confidence he has developed has done wonders for him at home and school. Grandmaster Chung and his team are wonderful and care so deeply for their students.

My son is currently working on his second degree at Tonchu Martial Arts Academy. They lead by example not dictatorship. Their teaching methods are clear and concise to the authenticity of Tae Kwon Do. This school is the real deal! When someone receives his/or her Black Belt from this school, you better believe they earned the black belt. Tonchu Martial Arts Academy isnt your typical martial arts school at all. They shape the whole person by positive reinforcement of the mind, body and spirit. This helps because they teach you to always walk in the highest level of professionalism and to strive for excellence in all that you do. So, I can say without a shadow of doubt that Tonchu Martial Arts Academy adheres to operating in excellence.Those that have quit and say derogatory things about this school never gave the school or themselves a chance to learn, or advance themselves by attendance. They Just Quit or they didnt have the stamina to be invited to participate at such an elite school. My husband and I are completely satisfied with the training that our son continues to receive at this school! Quitters Never Win and Winners Never Quit!

We have been members of several martial arts schools around Smyrna, and we have found TonChu Smyrna to have a higher quality and professionalism that any of the other schools in town. The instructors are knowledgeable, and know how to get the kids to perform. You can not beat Grand Master Chung period. There are always activities for the kids to be involved with as well.

Ever since I was enrolled in Tonchu Martial Arts, Ive developed self discipline and self confidence. Before I was nervous meeting new people, but now I can comfortably talk to anyone and it has helped me become a better person. It is because of Tonchu Martial Arts that I was able to be accepted in the Honors Program at Kennesaw State University. I highly recommend Tonchu, because Grandmaster Chung and Johnson KyoSahNim are great teachers.

BE WARE!!! When you register your child for a simple class at Tonchu Martial Arts, they have you sign paperwork that commits you to a full year of classes. Additionally, they outsource all of their billing and contracting to a company called Affiliated Acceptance Corporation. Even though we gave plenty of notice about our plan to move out of Atlanta, and paid for all classes through the end of the term, AAC has kept harassing us and threatening us with collection agencies, saying that we had to pay for classes for months without being able to use them. We were not told anything about this extended commitment and the relationship with AAC at the time of registration. Typical practice of slipping this kind of stuff in the fine print. I would highly recommend staying away from them until they change their practice.

I have never in my life seen a place that is so wrong for kids! The instructor is HORRIBLY bad with everyone!!!! I know a lot about martial arts and this is not what they claim to be. They are not a legitimate place at all.

My boys love this program as do I. Theye are getting not only martial arts training but discipline that is applicable to the real world. I feel as if they areare more than just a business but truly care about the kids.

This is all taught in the context of character development with positive values.My 8 year old son has attended the Vinings Academy since April of 2014 and loves it! Its been phenomenal for his personal as well as physical growth. Chun Jyokyonim, the head instructor at Vinings, is also an extraordinary martial artist, amazing teacher, excellent communicator and deeply dedicated to his students. He brings out the best in all, works exceptionally hard with the younger ones to develop self-discipline, focus, assertiveness, courteousness and they respect him. As for taekwondo itself, he consistently provides an outstanding level of instruction with clarity, frequent demonstrations, and attention to technical details. He observes and corrects each student individually. He and his team are always organized, friendly, professional, and extremely responsive to any questions or requests from parents or students. The facility itself is spotless, very functional and modern. Most importantly, the lessons that are taught, such as respect for others, diligence, responsibility, and perseverance, are lifelong qualities that apply to all areas and endeavors.

Ive been doing martial arts since (1993) the age of 6. Ive never been an advocate of taekwondo having only studied ju-jitsu most of my life. However, this martial arts school has changed my life. I dont look at this as taekwondo, but more as SELF-DISCIPLINE SCHOOL! Even as an adult, I need it just as much as the children and young adults that train there. I have become refocused and driven to GOSU! (to achieve the highest level in all I pursue) The head master is extremely humble and motivating. I began training in Martial Arts back in 1996. Most of my life I studied a Traditional Martial Art called Tang Soo Do. Its primary focus was on building your character physically, mentally, and emotionally through Martial Training. I stopped training in Tang Soo Do in 2009. I never thought I would ever find a school that would not only follow the same principles that I learned growing up, but continue to change my life day after day. Then I moved to Georgia & began training at TONCHU Martial Arts.I have been a student of TONCHU Martial Arts for the last 7 months, and I cannot begin to express the gratitude for being a member of this life changing Martial Art. We are taught to lead by example no matter where we are, and that starts from the top. Master Chung leads his students through the challenges we face day in and day out. Master Chung holds everyone accountable for their own personal goals, starting with his own. All of the Instructors are professional, well mannered and have the same common goal. I train at the Vinings location of TONCHU Martial Arts. I cant begin to describe the difference this organization has made in my life. At age 49 I began my journey solely in pursuit of a new activity, but it grew into something far beyond my expectations. I figured I would go to class, learn some Martial Arts stuff, get my daily exercise and that would be it. I was gladly mistaken. As I have learned, TONCHU is not your ordinary Martial Arts Academy. It is led by Master Chung who is a 5th generation Master who dates his Martial Arts heritage back to 1874. His schools teach a traditional curriculum while embracing modern technology. The Martial Arts instruction is excellent, but not the only component of their education. The mission of TONCHU is to drive every member to be the best person they can be. This is achieved by combining life lessons and philosophy with the Martial Arts training. I am truly blessed that TONCHU found a way into my life.
