Stopped in for my first time today to get some advice/help on checking headspace on a 1911 i was fitting a barrel to. Couldnt have been nicer folks! Not only did they SHOW me how to do it - thus increasing my own knowledge. But they also helped check extractor tension (again showing me, more knowledge shared) and explained the hows and whys of all this along the way. Finally, they gave their expert blessing that the barrel is safe to go try out and for all this they charged me - nothing. I couldnt believe the customer service - especially for someone who ISNT EVEN A CUSTOMER YET. Although, now I certainly will be whenever i need smithing services again. Again, cannot stress how blown away I was with the customer service, friendliness and knowledge which they FREELY shared. A-MA-ZING.
If you need holes drilled. Go somewhere else. He didnt want to attempt it because of a spot weld. Went to another gunsmith and they did it in a day with no problems. Said they didnt even brake or dull the drill bit.Maybe he needs to go back to Gunsmithing school to learn how to properly use a drill press.
I walked in with a gun that was jammed while trying to disable, Rock Island 1911, He took one look at it and went to the back for a minute at most, he came back disassembled it quickly and showed me what the problem was. Took about 5 minutes total. Great guys didnt expect them to fix it so quickly!
Mike is an odd bird, but is an impeccable gunsmith and expert on gun restoration. I have seen him take boxes of loose disassembled parts and convert them into beautiful works of art. I am very happy to recommend him and I refer customers to him often. He is especially skilled in the art of making parts that are no longer available. He also does fine machining, bluing and refinishing work. He keeps odd hours, so give him a call to make sure when he will be open to meet you. He works on guns the other days and does not permit customer to interrupt him while doing so. This is not personal, and he does this to assure his full attention is given to each job. It is not a bad system, and I wish I had thought of it.Rick CarverGunsmith and Owner3rd Millennium Engineering (his gunsmith competitor a mile away)
Great product delivered on time and at a fair price. My new go-to gunsmith.
I had an old 18th century blunderbuss that had never locked up since i acquired it 30 years ago. Took it to Mike and he fixed it. Even had to make a spring for it. He was prompt and extremely reasonable. I plan on him being my go to gunsmith from now on!
Fantastic experience here. I brought in my 1911 & thought I did about $150 worth of damage to it but he looked it over, had the spare part & switched it out in 10 minutes & cost me $10. He was even nice enough to show me how to properly take apart & care for the firearm which was a professional touch in my opinion. Highly recommended as he has over 30 years of experience & is very veteran friendly. Thanks!
I’d heard good things about Gunsmithing Only, especially in regard to vintage guns, and had a new shotgun with some issues. My vintage British side-by-side needed lengthening of the chambers and forcing cones, and was also having occasional ejector problems. The gunsmith and I talked about what I wanted done, and I felt very comfortable that we were on the same page. I picked the gun up a few weeks later and couldn’t be happier with the work. I can now shoot 2 3/4 inch shells, and my empties eject perfectly every time!
Exceptional customer service and treatment. Very good guys who do excellent work. Difficult to find quality treatment in the gun industry from a customer service standpoint. The guys at GunSmithing Only under promise and over deliver every time. Period. Will never go any where else!
Brought my Taurus here today to be repaired. I received the most unbelievable customer service I have ever received from any business. The gentleman fixed my pistol within seconds and instead of charging me - just asked me to come to him for my future gunsmithing needs. Cannot recommend this store enough.
They couldnt cut a barrel off straight. Yes, the cut was at a slight angle. Hobbyists, not gunsmiths. I couldnt recommend these guys for any kind of precision work, although they could probably refinish a stock or even re-blue a gun and it would come out OK. But not for anything requiring real skill.
Always great service with a smile and a 100% guarantee on his work!! used his service for over 30 years.
Unlike Simmons Gun Repair, Gunsmithing Only is Phenomenal at Customer Service and getting the job done! I was having my problems with my .22 that I couldnt fix myself. On two separate occasions I brought it into Gunsmithing Only and the guy behind the counter was able to fix the problem within 5-10 minutes and he didnt charge me a thing for such a quick fix. Truly a pleasure to work with.
Brought in a highly sentimental, although somewhat rough, 1924 Belgian made Browning A5 that belonged to my grandfather and was given to me by my father. It had the threads for the screw that holds the stock to the tang of the action wallered out. The threads are fine so helicoil wasnt an option. I put a lot of emphasis on wanting it done right and I didnt have a problem paying for it to be done right. The option I was offered was a threaded insert/bushing so that the original (serialized) screw could be used. What I expected was a insert matching the original screw pitch. What I got was a coarse thread insert mig welded into the action with the welds cut off with a dremel, the original machine screw cut in half with a matching course screw mig welded on to it. Its a... serviceable... fix but eventually Im going to have it redone, I could have done this operation myself and could have made it look like I actually cared.
Mike has repaired several guns for me and did a complete restoration of a family heirloom for me. All great work.
Needed a hammer bushing for my beretta but everyplace online was sold out. Took the trigger assembly in and was able to put in a benelli part. When I took it home and tried to fit it in my gun it was a little to tight so I took it back in and he took a little off and got it to fit. It only cost me about $4 more than the part online. Great service will highly recommend to any of my hunting buddies!
I wanted to do a Mauser M98 sporter out of a spare reciever I had laying around and he refused to thread and chamber a new barrel for it, so I bought a pre-threaded short chambered barrel from shilen for an install and blue. Come to find out he just installed the barrel without squaring up the reciever face and He didnt think to polish or clean anything before bluing. There are machine marks all throughout the bluing.I heard good things about his stock work so I let him inlet the new stock which he just hogged out a bunch of wood and filled in the rest with his special bedding compound. After break in the best group I can get in a 6 group at 100yrds.I didnt even mention the part where it cost me 3x more than the price he quoted me for all this work.DO NOT USE GUNSMITHING ONLY!!!
They are amazing at fixing all types of firearms. And they are reasonably priced.
I took my Glock 17 to Gunsmithing Only today to have new sights installed. I expected to leave the gun and come back later after the work was completed. To my surprise, Mike was able to install the new sights while I waited for a fair price of $20. I have installed sights myself before but this time I wanted a professional to do the installation due to the type of sights they are. I am totally satisfied and would recommend Gunsmithing Only to everyone. Be aware of their hours as they are not open every day all day.
Very helpful and friendly. A true professional.
Fixed and back out the door in just a few minutes. Guy is a firearms expert. Thanks!!
This is what you call a shade tree gunsmithThis guy took my pistols $4000 race guns competition guns with all the extras and took a torch to them to try and get barrow off and destroying the Barrel & frame of the pistolThen after messing them up hasn’t paid one dime of the $1600 in damage he did back to meHe’s a real LOOSERStay away from this ripoff 🥴
Refused to work on my firearm said it was to difficult
