From top to bottom this place is an absolute disaster. I worked at this location starting in 2017 under their first owner with no problems. I came back from college and offered to work as they were desperate. The new owners were lazy, disrespectful, manipulative and willing to screw over a couple of college girls and tricked us into running a business for them. Not to mention the pay for a baker decor and cake artist was twelve dollars an hour. Which anyone who decorates knows is insulting. Allegedly the location is moving to independence Missouri. I would encourage you to not support these people and their business, but honestly their terrible work ethic makes it hard to believe that the move will even happen.

They were delicious!! We had them make custom cookies for us and they were perfect. Even better in person! Will definitely be ordering form then again!! Thank you smallcakes!!

Omg! 😮😮😮 I tried smallcakes for the 1st time today and it was delicious!!! Super moist, words cannot describe how yummy it was! I had the coconut raspberry, oh lord help me!

I am very disappointed. I placed my order weeks ago for my sons graduation party. Ordered 24 mini cupcakes, 24 cakepops, and 24 cookies. Was meant to pick up my order on the 21st and didnt make until 1pm on the 22nd and my order wasnt complete. They were still working on my cookies and they wouldnt be done for another hour. They were supposed to be done on the 21st? I was missing 2 cakepops and then was provided with 2 to make up for it, that did not match my order and were a different flavor. The cakepops were supposed to be a mix of chocolate and white and were all white. Then the cakepops included gold sprinkles when everything was supposed to be black, silver, and white. They tasted great, and the manager offered a discount... doesnt make up for the stress and lack of customer service at all. Booo to smallcakes, you have lost a customer.

I ordered from small cakes for the first time today I picked the Choco-Holic Cupcake - it was very moist and fell apart in my mouth amazing amazing flavor, it even came with a cute little Santa hat. Along with the Carrot Cupcake... this cupcake didn’t take like carrot cake to me it tasted more of coconut there were some coconut shavings in the cupcake ( I hate coconut). I’d say the carrot cupcake needs a little work other than that I enjoyed my chocolate cupcake. Keep up the amazing work

I ordered 2 dozen cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday, two weeks in advance. I showed up to pick up my order on Saturday and no one was there. I called the phone number no answer. I guess since they never called me back or contacted me about my order I should have listened to the other 1 star reviews I read.I ended up being able to salvage the celebration by going to the Olathe store. I will never recommend or use the Shawnee location, but the Olathe store was amazing and I can’t thank them enough for coming to the rescue. The stores are not owned by the same people.

Very upset with this place! 4th time I got turned down. The first time I wanted to place an order I wasnt doing it within 48 hours. The 2nd time I wanted to place an order the baker was on vacation. The 3rd time I wanted to place an order it was already booked for that day. Now that I wanted to place an order I called 2 days before the date and told me they were going to call me back to confirm, never received a call so I called back and now this girl tells me the baker is not even in on Saturdays! So now I just wasted my time! And still has the audacity to tell me that if I didnt want to waste my time to go somewhere else! No, actually yall wasted my time by telling me and making feel like i was going to get the cake. Not very happy.

Got home with my order and was disappointed with it. First, they are smaller than what is advertised (the cups sold as ready at the store). The price listed is 12cupcakes/$39 of the full size gourmet cupcakes and then there are the minis (very small/miniature).The order I recieved were regular size not even offered at the store? They resembled the cupcakes I make at home using small store wrappers. Also, the designs could have looked more like the image I sent and confirmed for my order.Admittedly, I was told they would not have fondant, and any animal prints were not possible. However, there should have been more variety not including the animal print in my order.Also, my order had all 12 cupcakes where the icing did not go to the edge of the cakes, showed missing pieces of batter and cake that cooked over the edge of the wrapper, not a professional or pretty look overall to the cupcake order. I would have been better off getting the dozen large cupcakes for 39$ and attempting to decorate them myself instead of paying 55$ for these.I reached out to let the owner/Baker politely know I wasnt satisfied and have been playing phone tag although I requested email or text since we couldnt catch each other on the phone.I will try to share my photos.Thanks for the reply, I will email you today.

Hours said they were open until 6pm online and at the store front. Arrived at 5pm and they were closed, disappointing that i spent 30 minutes driving to and home for nothing.

Awesome cupcakes from some really friendly people. Got a dozen cupcakes for my dads birthday and all the flavors were delicious. Everyone commented how good they tasted.

Best Small Cakes in town. Yummy cupcakes, friendly workers, cute fluffy lamps. Drive past the other locations and stop is for regular and gluten free cupcakes too. They always have a great, fresh selection.

The place is very clean. Kid friendly. Cupcakes are fantastic. I got brownie bites and a carrot cake cupcake. Holly helped me and was as sweet as their treats.

Ordered 2 dozen cookies with panda faces for my daughter’s birthday party and they turned out even better than the reference photo I provided! Everyone was asking where I got them from 😊

They even make cupcakes for your dog. Picked a couple up for my little one for his birthday coming up. Cant wait for him to try one..

Best cake part of a cupcake, but icing is not made with butter. If it was, this would be a 5 star cupcake eatery. As it is small cakes doesnt make the grade. Way to much to charge for hydrogenated vegetable oil based icing, no matter how good the cake is.

The best cupcakes that Ive ever had! I thought that I could stop at one bite, but I was wrong in the best of ways. Ive been there 4 different times in the last year, and the quality never changes. Wonderful customer service too.

Pretty dang good cupcakes, but the price can add up. The cupcakes are pretty big too. Maybe make a smaller, less expensive item.

UPDATE: Business moved to just off Shawnee Mission Parkway & Monticello ☺Closed. Out of business. Went there today, 07/08/18 to get me a little something, (its my birthday) and it is GONE. Empty retail space. Hell even the sign is gone. 😞CORRECTION: business has moved not closed. 😊

Great cupcakes, and if you sign up for their rewards program you can get some great deals.

A few years ago these were amazing. This last year, the taste is just ok. When Im paying $4 for a 1000 calorie cupcake, it had better be amazing. Hyvee products are better and cheaper.
