Was worried bc of other posts & bc this was myfirst rental ever from Uhaul, but I had no other option. Turned out great. Pickup & drop off were easy. Pickup was max 15 mins but there was only 1 group ahead of me. Full size truck was very clean and ran very well. Every part of this rental was good.

Overall bad experience. Couple small issues, theyre understaffed so you may have to wait 15-20min for your rental, and short on equipment, I booked a furniture dolly in advance and had to replace it with the stand-up one as they were unable to hold it for me.My main issue however is that they over billed me for my rental and have yet to rectify it. I was charged for 6 furniture blankets (which I neither asked for nor received) and the aforementioned dolly that they were out of stock of. When I raised this to the man handling my U-haul return, he confirmed it with the lady who helped me process the rental and told me the charges would be removed. Lo and behold I check the receipt two days later and all the charges were kept on. Ive contacted U-haul separately regarding this and received no response.

The staff was nice, especially the woman that helped out with returning the truck I have rented. She deserves a special mention.Unfortunately they seem to have done away with the self check-in process, which was a very nice service that can be appreciated by anyone that has stood in the very slow lines at any U-Haul. Although they let me enter my drivers license and credit card online in advance to protect my privacy and quicker check-in, I still had to give the agent both cards and go through the same slow process at the desk as always. The old self check-in avoided all that but alas, is no longer offered for me. Maybe its just this location that can no longer handle it, but they did at one point. So depending on how busy they are, expect a long wait to get the equipment. They did have the truck ready to go by the front door once checked in, which was appreciated.

Easily the worst U Haul Ive ever been to. Been in line for an hour and there are still 10 groups ahead of me. Why are there only 2 people working here on a Sunday. Cant wait to never work with this location ever again as there is zero sense of urgency. Stay away!

The folks working at this location have always been difficult to work with generally speaking. There are sometimes a few good employees but many bark at you like you don’t know what you are doing or are just rude in general. Definitely not hiding the fact that they don’t really want to be working you.

This place is under new management and I must tell you the brother running the place is running a tight shop. He has a great young staff that is very polite and friendly and very professional. NEVER EVERY VISIT THIS LOCATION. If you do so, please be prepared to wait in queue for an hour. Queue will not be honored. People standing behind uou will be served before you. You will not be treated like a customer. You will be treated as if you renting the vehicle for free. Absolutely ridiculous. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS LOCATION.

We made a reservation and when we arrived they said there were no moving trucks for us. They said it was our fault for only reserving the day before. The lot was completely full of trucks, vans, trailers. Crazy. Also took over 20min to get to counter waiting in line. Rude service to our cherry on top.

I wasnt expecting much since the place is obviously short staffed and everyone appeared busy, however I had pleasant and friendly interactions with the two staff members who helped me out. In Seattle, it is rare to get anything but cold, curt interactions with most large corporate outlets, however this Uhaul location was surprisingly friendly. Also the truck worked soooo nice.

This time my rental I got done what i needed to do however when I arrived at 9am to unload the uhaul box i had delivered to this location for $2100 I was told my box had been scheduled for access at 9pm not 9am that day. I explained I was told it would be available at 9am and that this error was not my fault and that I guess the person who arranged it made a mistake. The clerk explained they agreed with this but just wanted to let me know. This makes no sense to me and was very unprofessional in my opinion. The staff here is overall severe and unfriendly in their demeanor towards customers - kind of like prison guards to prisoners. I was recently at a different Uhaui facility where i rented a van and a ubox and loaded it and had a fantastic experience which made the stress of moving so much more manageable. This location is just a drag.

Terrible customer experience in this office. Saw a male employee who calls himself the “owner” yell to a customer repeatedly in the morning of Sept 19th, then he proceeded to be very rude to us. Scroll on the reviews and you will find more references regarding this fellow. Just don’t waste your time coming here, this man is violent and clearly hates his job.

I cant find a single area where my experience could have been improved upon. The guy (Coast Guard Veteran) I got did both, the hook up and disconnect and was very fast, thorough and very friendly. This is my go-to U-Haul rental location. Ive been renting U-Hauls since I was in College in the mid 80s and this is the fastest checking in as well as the fastest checking out. There are three U-Haul places closer to me but Im still coming to this place henceforth.

Stay away from this location..all the reviews are real. Worst Customer service ever and extremely rude Manager. Scheduled a hitch install on 6/2, drove 20 miles, they say hitch is not here after waiting in line for 40 mins. No call nothing.Left several messages to Manager for to follow up ETA for hitch but never responded. Bought my own hitch and scheduled another appointment in July again, drove 20 miles, says hitch installer is not here and cancelled my order and said he won’t install. I started questioning the Manager on his service and he threatened to call police.Keep away from this location and Manager and Worst Management.

I would give 0 star if I could. Please avoid this U-Haul location at all cost and use other van services!Heres my experience at U-Haul of Rainier Valley.1- The van I reserved was dirty and smelled like marijuana. The back door was stuck on something and it wouldnt open at all. I had to use the side door to load/unload the furniture.2- When I reserved it online, I was able to select a four-hour rental starting at 18:00. However when I checked in at the store, I was told they do not have a after-hour return policy, and that I had to park my car there overnight and return the van the next morning. I was concerned about the neighborhood and concerned if someone was going to break in my car. If theres no after-hour return, I should have been informed when making the reservation online. However at check in, I cannot cancel my reservation or push my reservation to another time, so I went with the reservation and picked up the van. They insisted on having me return the van in the next morning and told me I cannot return the van that night because they are closing at 19:00, and they did not mention anything regarding the extra fee if I return the next day. The funny thing is one employee left her phone in the van, and I got two phone calls at 18:30 asking me to return the phone before they close at 19:00. I was already busy with loading stuff so I ignored it.3- The next morning when I returned the van, I was charged two times of the amount of what I should have been charged. My rental was considered as two days so everything doubled, even though I only rented it for 14 hours and its not my intent to return the van in the next morning. I specifically declined CDW but I was charged $20 for CDW.Again lease avoid this U-Haul location at all cost and use other van services!

It was a great experience just because of the employee Miguel. He was working by himself when I came in at 9am. He acknowledged people who were waiting in line and all this while answering calls and kindly telling people he had to put them on hold because he was busy in the store with in-person customers.Of all the trucks that Ive rented from U-Haul he was the only person I recalled that would come out to show people outside to their rental instead of just giving us the keys and telling us a license plate. He had to make sure we knew all the proper procedures. Even when leaving the store he told the next customer that he would be right back...just for the reassurance. He was even light-sprinting back into the store to help the next customer after helping the one that preceded.He did a real great job as one who was there by himself and not once did I see him wince under all the pressure (at least I thought it was) that was put upon him on a Saturday morning at this type of business.I had mentioned it to him when I was there how well he was doing but I think it should be noted for all future customers if you happen to run into him.Honestly, he made my day of moving out/in and unpacking and all that other stuff much better.A well mannered and focused man. Great job Miguel. Customer service is top notch.

Horrible experience. I reserved my truck via the website. I even received a phone call confirming.On moving day, I arrived at the scheduled time. I waited 45 minutes in line before I was told that they did not have the truck I reserved.I ended up with a smaller truck and did not receive one of the dollys I reserved because the attendant in the lot was smoking a cigarette while he was talking to me.My move ended up being almost $300 more because I had to do a second trip....because of their error!Upon returning the truck, I accidentally locked the keys in the truck. They had the gall to charge me an additional $100. The manager (Cedric) was completely unconcerned. He didnt even apologize.

When confronted about parking or lack thereof this man who claims to be the store owner became extremely hostile. Using intimidation, verbal insults, and going as far as threatening me with physical violence all over having parked the trailer in the wrong area. Owner or just an employee, this is absolutely no way to treat another human being. I just wish I had recorded the incident to show the police.

Wow, it’s amazing this company is still alive. Shows that being a horrible company is not enough for a company to go down if it’s big enough. In this specific store you’ll be treated poorly. Absolutely terrible staff. Do not go here. Went to get propane - they yell out across the lot they are closed. Its 6:40 PM - they dont close until 7 and I state this. They then say they stop propane sales 20 minutes before close. What?! Its 6:40 - she then says Im 30 seconds too late. Really?!?! Lazy, terrible staff. Theres a reason they have terrible reviews. Dont waste your time going here.

The lot is very sketchy and unsafe.The guy behind the counter doesnt know that people are actually paying to buy from him and they can take their money to another place. Go somewhere else, or maybe don’t use uhaul at all. Had to wait over an hour in line because the location had most of its staff not show up. Security must have been lacking as the vehicle I rented had it’s gas cap open and tank empty despite the reservation saying it should be half full (my theory is someone syphoned the gas)

The employees were super courteous and knowledgeable. The equipment worked out great. They have a restroom to use while you wait, which is nice. The only downside is that of the 5 times I was in there, 4 of the times, there was only one employee on duty, so the wait times could spike high if a few people came in at once... but at the same time, the prices are pretty good, so its hard to be too disappointed in that.

AVOID THIS LOCATION. One of the employees was incredibly rude and began yelling at me. I have never written reviews for a business, because I have never been yelled at by an employee. Wait times were also horrible.I attempted to change my drop-off location just to avoid going back. I would pay more money or change moving dates specifically to avoid this location.

He multi-tasked, and communicated well with the waiting customers. He was courteous and efficient! One staff member in particular was rude to a few customers and walked out for a break with 10 people in line waiting (seemingly because she was frustrated with the customers). This place taught me the value of being a 5-star customer. Because of the scathing reviews, I assumed that the staff was tired of being treated poorly. So I walked in with a smile, and a commitment to be cool and flexible. Every staff member there went the extra mile for me. I reserved a trailer and needed a hitch installed. I told them the wrong year for my car (oops!), which gave them an extra day or more of work, running around chasing down a new hitch that would work with my car. That little mistake created a lot of work for them. They never once blamed me for the problem, and they took full responsibility for staying on track with my travel timeline. The whole project came in under the quoted price. Everything worked out beautifully. I felt completely supported throughout the whole process. I was discouraged that the staff was so shocked at how easygoing I was with my move. These guys hadnt been given much respect. Remember--moving is one of the most stressful parts of our human existence. It doesnt need to be stressful, and yelling at your neighborhood U-Haul staff will not give them the chance to give you the care you really need. Thank you, U-Haul team! You guys were instrumental in one of the easiest moves in the history of relocating.

I can definitely understand the low rankings here though based off of the rude voicemail an employee left me. Paul is an extremely helpful, caring, and thoughtful employee! He helped us tie the car trolly onto our Uhaul and also helped us put our car on it. Paul did this with such detail and care and we were so grateful! Despite it being a busy day at the Rainer Valley Uhaul, he managed everything so thoughtfully and with a positive attitude! Took an hour and 20 minutes to pick up the truck. I can excuse that taking 20 on a bad day, but the manager didnt even acknowledge, let alone apologize.Until 10:30 there was only one worker, then the DMV sloth from Zootopia showed up. He was friendly enough but barely sped things up. Then asked if we could make sure to have the truck back 15 minutes before closing because the employees dont like to stay past 7 doing paperwork. Im sure they dont. However, we raced to move the big stuff and barely got back by 7. If they had complained about that, after making us wait so long off the clock, I would have learned programming to hack Google and remove even this unearned default star.

Poor service from national call center re hitch install reservation (so the issue is not with the shop itself).1- I was quoted a price, made the reservation and placed a deposit, but then later received confirmation receipt at a higher price.2- the reservation was made a month in advance. It was verified that the shop will have plenty of time to receive item.3- I called a day prior to install date and then found out that the Item was only ordered 2 days ago (3 weeks after the reservation) - thus it will not be avail on time.4- I did not get any alert to this, so if I did not call, I would have wasted a trip there.

I reserved a hitch and install on the national call center and put a deposit. This took over an hour and a half on the phone. Couldnt get through on the local phone number.On the day of install, my wife went there as scheduled only to be told:1. The hitch install tech wont arrive for 2 hours.2. They dont have the hitch that we put a deposit on and wanted to install a different crappier hitch that didnt fit our needs.3. When my wife asked them to call me to sort out the details (she didnt plan the thing), they were rude and flat out refused to call and basically told her to take a hike.Now I have to call the national call line again and cancel the order.Pathetic operation you got going, Uhaul.

As others noted, the lines is LONG—even if you do online check in. The owner is RUDE. He will yell at you and takes personal calls on speaker rather than helping the line of people stretching out the door. Customer service matters when it’s your move and this place is A FAILURE. Even with a reservation, there’s no guarantee you’ll get a van.

So the U-haul bot actually asked me to share my experience with Google. So here it is: I rented a cargo van and did the online check-in thing to avoid standing in line and all that. I schedule the pick up at 8:00 am, an hour after the store opens. I get there a couple of minutes before eight and find a three people waiting in front of the building. Their pick ups were scheduled at 7:00. Calls were made, messages were left. One guy finally talked to a person after a half hour on the phone. They said that someone would be there in five minutes. You can guess how accurate that prediction was. Anyway, an employee--the assistant manager, maybe?--showed up around 8:40 or so. He was soon joined by another employee--an I.T. guy who was there to do some computer stuff. Once they showed up, they offered fairly quick service. I was given an extra day on my rental. It wasnt something that I could use, but I appreciate the apology.

I was charged for a move that basically didnt happen.I rented a 10-foot truck and a dolly from this location. When I drove 3 miles to my old address to start moving boxes, I found out that the truck didnt have a ramp. Why would they rent me a dolly for a truck that doesnt have a ramp?I called the stores phone number to get things sorted out. After being on hold for 5 or 10 minutes, my call was answered by someone at U-hauls call center. I explained the predicament. They told me the 15-foot truck does have a ramp, and that it was $10 more than the 10-foot truck that I rented. I asked if I could exchange the trucks, and the U-haul representative said yes. So I drove back to U-haul to exchange the trucks for the $10 difference.When I arrived, the staff at the location told me that they had to treat it as a return. So instead of paying the $10 difference, I had to pay $53 for a truck rental package that was unusable. On top of that, I had to pay full price for the 15-foot truck, an estimated charge of $60.I was told that Id pay a $10 difference. I ended up with a charge of $113 altogether.Thats ridiculous. The store should have honored the $10 difference to exchange the trucks like how I was told over the phone by U-haul. The staff was mostly courteous and unhelpful at the same time.

Absolutely worst experience ever. My car is here for a tow hitch they told me 2 hours. I got here at 1 pm and called around 4 because nobody has called. I waited on hold for over an hour and then someone answered from scheduling and said I need to go pick up my car. 5:15pm and my car hasn’t even been touched no call or update. They said it will be done soon. Customer service is absolutely awful here also. They blame it on being understaffed. Hire more people then. I’m still waiting and it’s 630 in the lobby and not one person has updated me and they close at 7pm.

I was quite dissatisfied with the service I received here. Not to be a Karen, but here’s my saga.I came in to rent a uhaul, and everything was smooth until I looked at the gas gauge. The contract they gave me said the tank was completely full, however it was actually slightly below half. Anyone who has used uhaul knows that you agree to fill the tank to the level it was at when you received it. I immediately went back to the employee that helped me (who was now sitting in the parking lot smoking a cigarette) and told him about the issue. He seemed completely unconcerned. He told me to take a picture of the gas gauge and send it through a text link to be verified (which I did immediately). He assured me that I wouldn’t be charged for the missing fuel.I returned the truck the next day with the gas at half a tank- slightly higher, even, than it was when I received the truck. However, when I checked my bank account, they had charged me $65 for half a tank of gas, which I had not even used in the first place. I called this facility- Uhaul Storage of Rainier Valley- and they said they couldn’t help me.I then had to call corporate uhaul, where I was on hold for 45 minutes until someone helped me. They’re refunding the fuel, though for some reason it will take 10 business days even though they took it out of my account immediately. For someone who works a minimum wage job, $65 can mean having to choose between paying the bills and buying groceries.Overall, the way Rainier Valley Uhaul handled the situation was extremely unprofessional. I can only imagine if I hadn’t checked the fuel gauge. I wonder how many customers they’ve duped using the same method.

The employee working behind the register was amazing. Thats the only reason why this location didnt receive a single star. On the last day of the month, which I imagine to be the busiest day of the year, there was only one employee processing the rentals. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my rental time and didnt receive the van until 1hr 15mins later. I felt so bad for the single employee...but he had a great attitude despite the lack of support.

I rented a motorcycle trailer and truck from this location. I drove my motorcycle there, then I drove the truck and picked up another motorcycle, then delivered it home. I then drove the truck back to uhaul. Someone was still there and let me return the keys and truck at 9PM, 2 hours after they close. This saved me an hour and a half of driving, and was super nice. I would have had to get up early to come back. Thanks a bunch!

I highly advise looking elsewhere for your Uhaul needs. This location simply refused to honor the box buyback guarantee. While this location claimed over the phone that this a COVID-19 policy (they didnt tell us this in the store), there is no written policy in their store about this and there was no indication when we bought the boxes that there would be any trouble returning them. In fact, the agents said as long as the tabs werent broken, they were accepted for buyback anywhere.This is an untrustworthy location that doesnt deserve your business.

He was so kind and so patient the the stress and overwhelming feeling from prepping my big move Jerome’s patience was so sincere I felt a lot more at ease through my process of having the hitch installed and reserving my trailer. One of the worst uhaual locations in Seattle. Sure, the vans and trailers are fine but consistently has this place been under staffed and as a result, customer service has been lacking. Having showed up 30 minutes early for our trailer pick up today, we precede to wait for an hour and a half before we are finally able to hook up the trailer. Missed a call from uhaual customer service reminding us that we were late for pick up and that they would extend our pick up time. We tried circumnavigating this issue by reserving a trailer in SODO, but their automated system updated our order to be at Ranir. I had a great experience at this facility until they refused to take my unused 100% buyback guarantee cardboard boxes back due to covid. I understand the city of Seattle is in an absolute panic about the pandemic but this policy makes NO SENSE. Wake up, people! They rented me blankets which I will RETURN. Let me tell you those blankets were NOT CLEANED when they gave them to me so they probably wont be cleaned when they give them to you!. So they can take a blanket back with all my potential covid germs, but not a box? Youre out of your mind! This is NOT uhaul company policy. It is THIS facility making a ridiculous decision pandering to the fear. Never going back to this facility. Will not recommend and will tell others to stay away.

When I got to the Rainier Ave location I was greeted by Shedrick who directed me through every step of the rental process, quickly & efficiently! He was kind, respectful & slightly funny =D Next time I need a U-Haul I’ll be visiting this location again!

My experience at uhaul on 1-3-2021 was so welcoming, very customer service oriented. I was welcomed to uhaul when i parked. The clerk was very knowledgeable and friendly.This uhaul location is the best location ive rented from.Customer service has not been lost with these staff members.You all rock!

Buyer beware. To add to the list of terrible experiences during my most recent move at the hand of uhaul, make sure you don’t buy too many boxes. Despite the fact that the box says they will refund you for any unused boxes this location refused to honor the company policy. This happened on top of uhaul giving up our reservation for a truck a day before the move and giving us movers that couldn’t clear two rooms in two hours.I do not recommend uhaul and strongly recommend you don’t buy extra boxes thinking you can return unused boxes. You can’t.

I had originally ordered a 5 x 9 trailer but was notified there were none available in my area and had to switch to a 4 x 8 trailer. When the clerk heard about this he said he had a 5 x 8 if I wanted it, so I got the one I wanted. I was in and out in 15 minutes. Fantastic service!

This place is super busy and under staffed. Employees work hard but dont know how to prioritize customers. For example, I had 10am appointment that THEY set for a hitch install, yet they didnt start my work for 4 hours, even though I was in their store waiting for it. After a total of 6 hours of waiting, it was finally done, and the install was perfect. Beware of the disgusting restroom with no bathroom tissue or paper towels. Also, I witnessed one customer get refused service because he got upset and slightly raised his voice. This made me wary to complain much until they finished my installation.

This is crazy to me but this U-Haul location does not have parking lot. They have a huge lot in front of the store with designated spots painted on the floor but you are NOT allowed to use them. We saw 2 cars parked and we parked right next to them and a staff member came yelling from the store saying that we couldnt park there because a truck may arrive. We thought he was not talking to us because there was so much space for 10 trucks to arrive at the same time and this was crazy but he WAS talking to us. We were confused but told him we were just picking up some boxes and would be out in 3 minutes. He repeated that we couldnt park in their lot, didnt explain why or where we should park as costumers, ignored the other cars parked right next to us and walked away. We obviously didnt have other choice but leave. This staff member looked like he was on his 50s but acted like a angry and nonsensical teenager. Thank God Lowes is right across the street and has free costumer parking and a helpful and friendly staff! Highly recommend going literally anywhere else.

The best thing you can do for any work environment is implement and strong passionate and driven leadership and hire talented team members that value what they do and how They can get that done in the most efficient way. Unfortunately That’s not the case with the employee who I can’t say “helped” me today because the gentleman was offended After I had demonstrated confusion on where to find my key passcode for a mobile reservation(which ended being an hour process when it’s advertised as “Doing it all from you phone”)And he had gotten offended after I said that it wasn’t clear what number he was looking for and yelled in my face to “take a step back” when he had asked me to step closer to show him the email I had received. After this interaction he asked “what’s your name”...”is your name meer?”, to which I responded no and he then proceeded to help different costumers instead, again the mobile reservation says to skip the line, and this was not the case. These were the last Words spoken to me before he proceeded to get his manager who’s first words to me where,”hi, what’s your name” and respond correctly and she grabbed my keys and put them in my hands with no further communication. EXTREMELY BAD SERVICE.

Honestly did not see the reviews before coming here, I got a moving truck twice and a storage unit. Andre and his staff were amazing and were able to cater to all my needs. Also had some complications but they were resolved very easily, no extra charges. Appreciate you guys.

I had my U-Haul reserved for this morning because I’m moving. Got there waited in line for 30 minutes, even though only 2 people were in front of me. When it was my turn, I show them my confirmation info and the employee tells me my U-Haul is in Redmond, not Rainer, even though I got a confirmation email saying it was reserved for the Ranier location. The employee told me that the reservation changed because their location does not do one-way trips (I was going to drop it off in a different state). I told him I need to be completely moved out of my house in 3 hours so could not drive all the way to Redmond, and asked for literally any U-Haul that I could use for the morning and return to their location. He said they had zero U-Hauls available and he would not help me out in any other way. Will 100% never be returning to this location and plan on looking into other companies for future moves.

This is the first time I use U-haul. And I am glad I received service at this location. They offered fantastic service, the staff was supper nice, and they were willing to help you all the time. And the vehicle was clean and neat, smelled good! Highly recommend! (Be sure to arrive earlier if you need to use them. )

We arrived 20 minutes early to our reservation time and still were not able to get out the door with our van until 30 minuets after our reservation time.We stood in line for 50 minutes waiting for two of the slowest customer service agents I have ever encountered to check out the 3 people in front of us. Each of those people, and myself, had already signed up online and even though we entered most of the information necessary in ourselves, this seemed to take zero time off the transaction.I cannot stress to you enough how frustrating it is to be on a tight time schedule, already worried about how the day will go, step into this building hoping to be taken care of and instead we end up in a time warp, standing around for 50 minutes watching two people without an ounce of hustle struggle to give any kind of consideration to the fact that their customers don’t have a lot of time.It was almost unbelievable how slowly they were moving, talking, and typing. I felt like I was getting pranked, that’s how little they gave a sh*t.

While there was quite a wait when I picked up the trailer, the person in charge greeted me right away and apologized multiple times. When I returned my trailer, my contact was also very friendly. She checked to make sure everything went well and engaged in friendly conversation while we completed the transaction.Overall, I recommend this location!
