Has great cards and gift items. Good stock of plants too which many places are no longer carrying as it is late in the season. I got some good quality home supplies too. Truly something for everyone! Note that they do allow dogs into the store.
Excellent small but well-stocked hardware and home store, kind of a miniature Home Depot, but with a knowledgable and friendly staff always jumping to help. I always go here first for my hardware, plumbing, tool, and electrical needs. I seldom have to suffer through a trip to Home Depot or Eagle through Seattles perpetually gridlocked traffic. These guys have everything you need 98% of the time.
Dropped by yesterday for some stainless fasteners and was pleasantly surprised to find that, yet again, City People had everything I needed to put together my one-off project.All-up, the purchase cost less than the components I had priced out on Amazon. Instant is even better than two-day delivery and the fastener-quality exceeded what I found online without going to industrial suppliers. If youve never been, their selection of home-repair and light-construction hardware may exceed your expectations. Unless they dont have sufficient quantity, there is a good chance they stock something that will meet your hardware needs.
Small General hardware stores like this are gold mines if you take the time and walk the isles, Im a electrical construction journey man and found some cool stuff in here. Its ran by locals and owned by locals. Its a womans place and mans also. Your not going to find big contractor stuff here, but I bought tools, electrical parts, essential oils, tropical plants, and some cool oddball one of kind stuff, I always stop in here when Im working in the U-district. Take your time.......or you will miss the prize!
Love this place they have great stuff. I also enjoy spending time in the perennial garden. I come here for bedding plants and tomato plants. Top notch quality.
Awesome garden center, friendly staff, and super cool and handy goods in the shop. We love stopping in!
Good place to find predictably good products. Visited the gardening section, getting veggie starts, some flower starts, and top soil. Someone was available to carry the soil to the car - bonus!Lots of stuff available seasonally, and the staff seem informed about the uses of what they have.
This is a really nice and convenient HW store. Because its small it doesnt have everything. But it does have some great hard to find parts. Like sharkbite fittings to block off a copper pipe, etc. It also has a great garden center.
We happened along this store on our way trying to find the troll under the bridge. Very clean store. Was alittle pricy! But you could tell it was in a upscale neighborhood!
Best gift shop in NE Seattle. Oh, and I also get many of my home project and gardening supplies there. I like that it is locally owned.Last time I visited I saw Seattle gardening hero Cisco Morris there!
Great customer service, they didnt have what needed but referred to another store that did.
Very helpful. Good staff.
Nice local hardware, household and garden store with reliable True Value products and friendly nice help.
Really nice little place but it is not a hardware store. Amazing garden center but if you need real hardware or tools this probably isnt the place
The goods stocked and store policies have gone downhill since it was sold a few years ago. Occasionally I go check in to see if things have improved, but its always disappointing.
I can always find something fun here!
Hardware, paint, home goods, gifts, houseplants, and a garden store/nursery in the season. Whats not to love?! A favorite place to wander and browse, even if you dont need anything...
My favorite store. I love their merchandise.
They never quite have what Im looking for. Screw and hardware selection is often out of stock
As always, good array of merch, decent pricing, friendly helpful staff. Excellent Covid precautions. Great place to shop!
Courteous and engaging staff, fun merchandise
They close at 5pm now but never bothered to update Google. Its annoying when you spend a half hour driving cross town to avoid going to Home Depot and Lowes and they simply have a sign saying closed sorry. Please claim your Google account!Still no update 1 month later. Google says they close at 6 but when you get there they have posted signs saying temporary hours closes at. 5.Annoying as hell!
Great neighborhood hardware/gift/kitchenware /garden store. Never visit without buying something!
Ive always found the staff to be extremely nice and helpful, and they have a surprising selection of household hardware. And plants! Awesome place.
Nice neighborhood store. Not a true hardware. Cant find a lot of stuff needed.
Basically 3 stores in 1! The front section has high quality general merchandise (gifts, housewares, decor, bathroom/kitchen, etc.). The back section has True Value hardware (tools, paint, plumbing, electrical, yard, etc). The seasonal nursery building has live plants and soil amendments. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and local owners really invest in the community. I go here for innovative kids birthday presents, quality housewares, and most of my hardware needs. I dont know what I would do without it!
The employees are extremely nice and the store has like everything.
Great store. Tons of nice merchandise, highlighting Northwest / Seattle
Store hours inaccurate, though it comes up as a hardware store, looking through the windows I dont see anything related to that.
Love, love, love City People! They have some of everything and always reasonably priced. Some furniture, food stuffs, awesome kitchen supplies, loads of fun stuff and a great candy selection. Wonderful gift selections!
I love the set up of this store. My toddler and I had a blast looking at everything. If you are hoping to make a quick purchase, use the registers at the north end on the store. (There were two ready cashiers here.) The one in the clothing area is extremely slow. She looked like she was taking great care of the customer at the register, but more customers were lining up behind me. I walked to the back of the store and was out before the customer in front of me was helped.
Cool store but I wish I wasn’t being followed like I was a shoplifter. I get it...I’m much younger than your typical clientele, I have tattoos, but I also have a great job and money to spend, so—
Very good selection, a little pricy. But everyone is super friendly and the convenient location is great. Also they allow dogs inside while shopping, and thats awesome.
Nice place to shop. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Says closes 7pm here but I drive down and they closes at 5pm! After so many months this should be corrected
Knowledgeable staff here! City People offers a wonderful collection of plants and gifts!
Shopping here for 5 years. I would say 20% of the employees are personable, interactive, and helpful. The other 80% are divided between genuinely crotchety older adults, spacey introverted teen/adults, and a special category which snap at children for no real reason. I guess its a genuine seattle freeze shopping experience- nice dispays, a dearth of nice people, and high prices. Just wish shopping local could be more positive.
Surprisingly jam packed with most hardware you need for general home maintenance and lots of surprising upscale gifts and fun objects for the home/apartment. I genuinely am surprised they carry as much as they do.
Great place with friendly staff. Has everything from Hardware to odds and ends for your house. Prices are pretty good especially when compared to the big box stores.
Nice to occasional visit & purchases. I used to shop at the Original City People in Madison. This just doesnt compare to me. To cramped. Not many bargains or sales to be found for a great find or savings.
Quality of both product and service. The neighborhood hardware store. Their Buyer has superb taste for housewares and for hardware. Proud to be loyal Regulars!
Fun to browse. Excellent for gift shopping. Womens clothing thats just a bit different. Everyday senior discount.
This is the only hardware store I actually like in North Seattle. Good selection and not as expensive as other nearby spots.
I love that there is a pretty well-stocked hardware store coexisting with the more boutique-like main store.
They have some of what you want, and its convenient in the neighborhood. Youll pay 75 percent more than you need, but you wont have to deal with traffic.
Wonderful store but very pricey. But given the neighborhood they can afford it
I love this store, specifically for their womens clothing, pretty much the only place i buy my clothes business and otherwise, very 45 years old and up in their target is what i think
Just like McLendens used to be. Always friendly and helpful.
This place has everything - from toys to gifts to candy to clothing 10 different kinds of grass seed. Impressive!
Love City People from their garden section to their amazing clothing choices they have it all.
Great store for stylish home decor, crafts, gifts, clothes, and attached to a hardware store to pick up gardening and last minute items to finish your home project.
Staff are extremely helpful and friendly when youre looking for something specific.
Their prices are three to four times higher than anywhere else.I looked at a gift for my ten-year-old son and the same toy is at Target for 20 and theyre charging 60
Great neighborhood store combines both hardware and daily essentials/gifts.
Great local hardware and variety store with knowledgeable staff.
Fascinating store. Half hardware, half you never know
I like this store mostly for the garden shop tools and plants. The Store has an out of this century feel to it which I like, it reminds me of when I was living in the country and shopped the general store for hard goods.
Great selection it reminds me of the old Eagle Hardware
Good hardware and assorted other things.
The aisles and floors are so crowded with merchandise its not all an accessible store. I would avoid this store if you use a wheelchair, walker, or stroller.
Best store with so much variety!
Great selection on hardware and potting soil and plants
Always helpful and knowledgeable of selection.
Very helpful, friendly staff!
My favourite store in Seattle.
Great gift ideas
City peoples was good
Helpful employees!!
