It’s nice having a parts house in Seattle. But if they are going to just order something to be shipped in, why am I ordering from them. This is the very reason people are not purchasing local. This place is a throwback from the 70-80’s when the PNW was a thriving manufacturing Mecca. Now it’s all cottage industry, but Holderby has failed to shift and adapt to the market. One can get more with less money elsewhere. Then as far as service there are great technicians that come to you and repair machines. Not this company.
The best place to buy industrial sewing equipment! I have quite a few beautiful machines that Ive purchased here over the years. Ernie is amazingly knowledgable. Whenever I run into an issue, I call and he walks me right through it with tremendous patience. He never makes me feel like I have a dumb question or am taking too much of his time. Hes able to empower me to fix these complicated machines- its amazing! I feel so lucky to have a continuing relationship with this wonderful small business.
Excellent location for sewing machine supplies and services.
Everyone here was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and they do great work. However, I took in a machine to be cleaned after I purchased it from someone who had it sitting in storage for 10 years. They quoted me 2 weeks for this when I dropped it off. It took them FOUR MONTHS to complete. It runs beautifully, but if you are a business and need your machine up and running quickly, this is not the place for you.
I hope the business owners have a chance to read this.My mother had taken 2 days off to receive delivery of ordered units, and both days the company failed to deliver with an excuse of I dont know. Well, I dont know what the owners are going through in their current situation with the business, but there are people out in life that are working pay check to pay check and when there is no consideration for the other party waiting for services that are advertised by the company that are left hanging with uncertainty - that is just human indecency. People make mistakes, and that is part of life, but anyone can take the time to own up to those mistakes and display kindness. I hope C.H. Holderby Co can be a company that displays kindness in the future.-The son of a seamstress
Dave is super knowledgeable about all sewing machines and is always more than willing to teach you a thing or two!
I recommend that if you have questions, you should email or call. This store specializes in getting you the exact industrial sewing machine that you want and servicing machines too. They do carry and sell used machines as well. I am giving this place 3 starts and not 4 because we spent 2 or 3 hours in the store listening to a one sided conversation. The salesman did not ask us very many questions concerning how much and what kind of work we did. And when we asked a question, he often didnt let us finish asking before he answered and didnt really answer it. He often went off on far tangents as well. It seemed more like he just wanted to tell us what he wanted to say and not what we wanted to know. He was very nice but we didnt really have 2 hours to spend. Im sure their products and services are very good; however, more consideration for our time would have been greatly appreciated.
What a great group of people and great customer service - everyone at CH Holderby is so smart and knowledgeable - ive purchased a couple of machines from them and the team is so wonderful about teaching ya how to use the equipment also- cant recommend CH Holderby enough - thanks Team! (and thank you Earnie)
Reliably disappointing experience. Went to get a part for my machine and was sold the wrong one then talked down to when returning it because the expert there didnt ask me enough questions when I called to see if the part was available. Not worth saving the trip to Sewing Machine Service in Renton.
This company gave me and my company terrific advice without expecting anything in return.
After ordering two machines from them, we had to wait over a month just for them to get the machine in. We then had to travel to them for what was the most unimpressive training I have ever received. What they do is they purchase the machines with your money, then set them up in their display room and use them to try to get more people to buy the machines you paid for. We are still waiting for our machines to be shipped out to us. Definitely a huge waste of time and money to travel to them for training. Ernie needs to retire I believe. We found a better person in Portland to train and service our machines and will never do business with CH Holderby again! We didnt purchase the machines from them to have them use our machines as demos for other potential customers. Dishonest people.
Ordered a special stitching machine last year and it has finally come in and it must WAIT on Earnie to have time to do the set-up. We also have two machines we have been waiting on for 3 weeks and this machine has been in for 2 weeks. Communication has been sparse to non-existent for the money we are spending. Nice people but bottle-necked severely.
This is the definitive place to go for Industrial sewing machines sales, service, parts and supplies. I was blown away by the helpful advice and information they gave to me as a complete noob. 10/10 would recommend.
This place carries odds and ends for industrial machines. If need a part / repair these folks are worth asking
These guys are awesome. Very knowledgeable.
Semi-secret industrial sewing machine headquarters.I lived two blocks from C.H. for 5 years before realizing they existed. Tucked. A. Way.I needed leather needles for a vintage off brand machine I purchased on Craigslist, and sure enough, C.H. had them!Fast forward a year later- I just called to ask if I should purchase another rare off brand industrial machine. Research online had come to a dead end and I was at a loss for information. Not only did David know what machine I was talking about, he gave me a quick history and knew which machines are parts-compatible.
Great help, excellent service. Heard about them while in TN!
I have called and left message and emails for them over the past two weeks. I need my industrial machines serviced and no-one ever replies or calls you back as they promise when you call
Awful customer service. Called to ask if they have any walking foot machines in stock and the guy said he didnt know...I waited...and he still didnt know...then he preceded to give me price ranges. Whereas I can have a BRAND NEW triple feed Consew DELIVERED to my home for $1100 he started his entry level machines at $1500 What? He then said our used machines would be ...between 900 and 1100...if we have any....Business must be so good there that they can use the OPPOSITE of time honored sales techniques...LIke asking questions, showing instant interest in my needs, what it is Im sewing etcd etc...what machines have I looked at...why our machines are better...in other words sell me...you are NOT the only game in town.
There 4 Star rateings are from there employees. They don’t know what they doing . They will drag out ordering parts to sell a machine
Good service, exact part asked for. Had in stock
Such a friendly and helpful sewing machine business. The receptionist is very courteous and professional.
They have been giving me the run around for months. I originally had my machine fixed by a repair man there and it broke shortly thereafter. Ever since, I have been calling, trying to set up appointments, leaving messages to no avail...today I waited around all day just to be called and told he wasnt coming around 5pm...Im done...Ill take my money elsewhere...
Good customer service
