I recently took my Taylor GS Mini in to have the action lowered. Tyler did an amazing job getting the action very low by installing a thin shim to get the neck angle lower, thereby lowering the action. The saddle was already too low to cut it down. Now it plays like a dream. Thanks, great work!
Always enjoy shopping at American music. Been going there for almost 40 years now! Great selection! Friendly staff!
Ive purchased an acoustic here that I absolutely love - it was set up wonderfully. Ive had two electrics set up here. The most recent Tyler re-wired and it sounds AMAZING now. Brought new life to my first guitar that I was keeping around for sentimental reasons. Now I barely play my other guitars lol. I will keep going back to this shop for anything I need going forward.
Nice store. Helpful and friendly workers. Nice stock of musical instruments. Guitar centric but also a decent collection of synthesizers and stuff like that.
For real customer service and selection there is no better place. Pat F and Thomas went out of there way to make sure I landed on a guitar that I will play for years to come. I couldnt be happier with my American Tele. Will come back soon to grab one of those Eastmans. Huge thanks American Music SeattleAdd photosPhotoDelete photo 1
Great music store -- stocked with the classics as well as the greatest and latest, staff is very nice and just loves music / instruments. Only reason I would ever go to another store would be the hours
Great selection of boutique pedals and a passionate staff. I had Tyler do some tech work on my Fernandes and he did a great job crowning the frets. Very receptive and dedicated to making sure the set up was what I was looking for. I would absolutely recommend taking your guitar here to get worked on and browse great pedals.
Not the most extensive guitar selection, but one of the best for pedals of any kind and solid amp selection.
Best place to buy gear. Especially pedals. There’s so many!!!
This is the only place to buy instruments! I just took up guitar and had no idea where to start when I wanted to invest my savings. American Music helped me find the perfect instrument at my price point. Since then, I have referred friends and everyone has had the same great experience. Plus you are supporting a Seattle business with a powerful local history!
Very helpful and friendly staff, great experience! They let me open a box and try out the Arturia Keylab MK2, which no other nearby store had for demo, without any obligation to buy. Ended up getting it anyways--excellent local business!
Came here to pick up a synthesizer (Korg Minilogue XD Module) and Jacob helped me out with all my needs. He was nice enough to show me a few other products that I was interested in and saved me some money by suggesting that I buy things I needed in a bundle. With the new synthesizer and other equipment, my home setup is now functional to where I have been wanting it for a couple of decades! I will be back for sure if I need to add on to my setup. Cheers!
Nice place to find many musical instruments and equipment. They have lot of selections displayed in store and since there is no such a place in seattle area, this store a key place for all kinds of musicians.
Knowledgeable staff, great service, all around feel good shop. Get what you need here and support local businesses
Super helpful staff and great shop!
Setup my guitar well afaik, including calling me to check before replacing bridge (something we had discussed might be needed ahead of time)
Great place for gear and instrument work! My go-to place. Everyone is always helpful and knowledgeable.
Called three days before to make sure I could come up from Tacoma to look at amps and try out a couple. Not to play everything. Got there. Say oh no can’t let you look. But appointments only to play. Yes. That’s why I called before and was told I could. Asked about an amp sitting out and some helper was useless. I get the COVID precautions. Not an issue. But serious man, put something else on the website other than suggesting it’s business as usual with some precautions. Simply not true. Do better. Especially for those of us who make plans, call you ahead and drive an hour. COVID isn’t an excuse for lack of professionalism. Finally, they tell you to look online at the inventory. But have you looked at your own site? You have more blank pages or images coming than anything. Seriously, don’t tell people they can look online when there are hardly any pics of stuff. Buy online at guitar center or sweetwater. Much less of a hassle.
A great store with a fine selection of gear (including some things you dont find just anywhere) and helpful, friendly salespeople who are refreshingly low on tude. One of my favorite shops in Seattle.
Nice place, they were fun to talk to and told me other stores I could go to since they didnt have what I was looking for. nobody else really does that
Great shop, amp that I bought there had a defect and they quickly swapped it out for a new one and took care of all the warranty details for me. Super knowledgeable and helpful staff
One of those rare music stores that have a great range of gear on tap and also that neighborhood music store vibe. Super friendly and helpful ppl, prices are standard with good specials occasionally. Repairs dept is fantastic! Oh and an AWESOME collection of pedals, both new and used. Keep up the good work!!!
Prices were competitive with big stores like Best buy and Amazon and staff were very informed and nice. Great store, great staff, high-key recommend.
I found this place accidentally today as I was driving to my friends house. I happen to have a rode NT1A mic that i needed an arm for. They helped me find what I needed, they were personable and relaxed, It felt like I was just stopping by a friends house. I told them that Im trying to mount this arm on wood, he went out of his way to offer me a solution and gave me an extra piece to mount my arm free of charge just to help me out. I recommend this store to anyone that needs anything music related. they even have synthesizers, keyboards, guitars etc. Thank you! I will come back if I need anything else.
Always helpful. I wish they had longer hours.
Nice employees, and a good selection of gear. Go here before any guitar center.
Wish I lived closer to store. Bought speakers (twice) and Jacob tried hard to make sure I got what I wanted. Glad I made the trip. I likely will again.
This is a great shop, I had a map tech goof and put a bad review that is in no way true, I want to make that very clear. First I would like to apologize for my one star. There was a building down the street that I thought was your shop and it was closed, then jumped the gun on the review. Seconds after posting I turned around and saw the shop. I went in and had a great time. They have a great selection, great staff and the store looks great too. Grungy dive shops have charm but when a local shop is so clean like this it is wonderful. So I highly recommend this place. Please be patient before you review. Keep it up American Music, Ill be back soon!
Very helpful staff. Nice looking selection of guitars
Conceited and slow email customer service by Thomas Maglietto. And never in 6 calls different days between working hours they pick up the store phone.
Local Seattle music store, excellent inventory of quality gear---drums (yaaaay), guitars, basses, keyboards, pro audio, software, cables, picks and even a Marshall amp or two.Good musicians have worked here for 30 years, the store has been a solid partner with artists, educators and hobbyists the whole time.
All around great, nice welcoming people, good prices, and local, has great vibes, and a great collection of pedals.
They sell single guitar strings here and it pretty close to where I practice at right now friendly ppl work there its nice little store they normally have what I after
I love these guys. So friendly, so helpful, everything was just great. 😊😊😊😊😊
A great place for Left Handed guitar players! They consistently have lefties IN STORE that I have never seen offered anywhere else. Anyone that plays a musical instrument knows that you MUST play something to know if you will like it or not. They are very friendly about letting you test drive their guitars and amps. Plenty of free parking too! Ignore the mega stores *cough, Guitar Center* and shop with people that really care about your needs. A top rated Music Store IMHO...
Knowledgeable staff and good prices. I was able to get exactly what I needed for the same price as on Amazon but I get to support the community. Win win win.
Always great customer service! Highly recommended shopping here, everyone is so helpful.
This is my go to music store in the Seattle area, the folks are helpful and informed, and the selection of instruments is solid.
Fantastic and helpful staff! I went in there and got a full set of gears(from cable to guitar)! Thank you Jacob!
I really like the drum shop here. Very helpful staff (Mike Cotta is great!) and a great stop for drums, cymbals, and accessories. New and used items revolving through here.
They have a wide variety of instruments and brands to choose from. Very knowledgeable staff. They pay fair prices on used instruments.
It was great! great selection, great staff! Especially Phil. Phil is the best! I know very little about recording equipment and he helped me find what I was looking for without trying to push the thousand dollar version and when I asked if I could test it to see how they worked he pulled out his own computer to help, way more than I expected to get helped. Plus everyone seemed to like it there.
This place has been around for almost 50 years, and several of the employeeshave been around there for damn near that long. Tremendous knowledge base at the Fremont store, great selection of merchandise, and usually no hack guitar players fouling the air-an enormous plus! I wont go elsewhere, given any choice. Where the pro would always prefer to go!
American Music has been, and still is, the major, independent music store in Seattle. The staff are attentive, knowledgable, and wise to the quirks of every musician that walks in to fumble about with their instruments. Notably, they have a great selection of bass strings, more than any other music store that Im aware of (other than Guitar Center, and who wants to spend their money in a prison like that?). I have been buying my stuff here for years, and additionally, my daughters musical gear. This is a real, locally owned music store that needs your help to flourish. Great spot!
Very helpful and great selection. That is why I am giving them a 5 star review. Ive made several purchases here from all departments. The staff has all been great in answering my questions and helping me find the right gear for me.Even though I live on the other side of town, its always worth the drive even if its just for sticks, picks, or cables.
Excellent service, and great staff. Will and Tyler have done a great job with my instruments, and are always very knowledgeable. 🎸
Always a great experience. Love coming here for gear. I always find something I cannot pass up and the staff is awesome!
I had an audio interface that I had ordered on Amazon, problem was that it was out of stock and would be three weeks for delivery. I called American Music on the off chance that they had it. Not only did, but same as the online price, they set one aside for me. Store practices covid safety. I was in and out of there within a minute.
Why 5 stars?Because this place was local, easy to get to, matched prices and/or beat big retail chains such as Guitar Center and other online only stores. What store makes this sort of claim anymore? We stock a lot more in our store than you will find on-line here.So I went in, spent an hour trying out guitars, chose one, snuck a peek at my phone to check if the price was competitive, which it was - but then the salesman gave me a discount on my new Fender Hellcat and a great price on a mini battery powered amp 😃
Excellent service and available help. They have a great variety of instruments and rooms
Got my Mackie CR3 monitors today here. The personnel was very welcoming and helpful! Good selection! You can also ask to try any product before buy. I will definitely return here for something else. Thank you!
Staff was great. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door, and, even though I was only there to browse I was approached multiple times by different staff and asked if I had any questions. I will most certainly be returning.
Was over at Guitar Center and the people there were not helpful in the slightest. Called American Music and sure enough they immediately located the product I was in search of. Please do yourself and this world a favor by shopping locally with American Music!
Great selection! Well organized and clean. No one greeted or acknowledged me.
Excellent service, and great staff. Will have done a great job!!!! Staffs very knowledgeable.
Quick, friendly, and professional service. Looked like an excellent selection of products. I only needed a small item today, but I expect Ill be back. And no hassle parking, that seems rare around here anymore!
Although they didnt have everything I was looking for in stocks they were very helpful
I originally came in because I needed a hands on with something, and I purchased from them because they are really lovely people, no upsales or pressure or attitude to someone who knows nothing about musical instruments and associated gear. Its laid back, staff are knowledgeable and easy going when imparting that knowledge, and something I love in particular is the excitement a staff member will show when demonstrating something. Nobody seems bored in their jobs at American Music.I highly recommend them without reservation. American Music is a good experience.
Amazing store. Been going to this store 30 years and will say that the deals here are pretty amazing compared to almost any other guitar store I have seen if you know what your looking for and are in the market for specific items. One of my most important experiences came one time I tried to get a speaker cab extension on my combo and we overloaded the amp head. They sent it to the repair shop on the house. They are cool staff, some times they have people who i do not care for but that is life and I am pretty picky about how I am treated after being in so many music stores. What I would say as advice is if you want a new acoustic guitar or Fender/Squire come visit this store. They have a few used items but IMO you should shop other stores too if you want a used guitar.
I love this place, Im so glad theyre still a part of the Seattle experience, and they tuned my bass up real good for a great price.
Great selection of gear and a good place to trade in your old equipment.
Popped in with a friend just to look around and check out the store. Nice, friendly staff who knew what they were talking about. I will be back.
Owner is great, knowledgeable and very kind!!! We were in from out of town and they had a great set up that was hands on. My boyfriend ended up getting a Volca bass and loves it! Thank you for great service and set up!
This place is the best. Great prices - equal to online - and very helpful, but not pushy, salespeople. Its an extremely pleasant environment that I keep wanting to go back to.
Mike Cotta is my hero. Couldnt be a nicer fella. As drummers, were blessed here in Seattle to have American Music and Mike Cotta at the helm in the drum department. A sweat heart of a man, very knowledgeable and no ego, AT ALL. one if the coolest guys in the biz!
Great selection of guitars. Not so much on amps. The amps they do have are mostly high quality. The drum section is okay. The store is small. The staff is okay, not great.
This is Phil with the Xbox boys and I am TOTALLY amazed! I left my peddle at the shop and they drove OUT TO BELLEVUE to bring it back. TERRY is amazing and so is the last of the old school music stores!
This is a great guitar and drum shop. Ive made many visits over the years driving all the way from Vancouver B.C. Great selection and staff.
They let you look around on your own as long as you like and arent aggressively over-helpful. They took the time to teach me to string a guitar which was super nice!
Great shop, everything you could need under one roof. They also have really good prices on a lot of guitars.
Guys are friendly, and do good good deals on selling/trades. Awesome selection of instruments and gear too. Rock on.
Buy strings there...yup
Its the real deal. Complete coverage of modern/electric instruments and gear. No classical though. Staff fully switched on.
Great store. Customer service was fantastic. I had my acoustic guitar repaired by the luthier, Ben. He was very helpful. He did quite a bit of work on my beat up guitar and made it play like new.
These guys are great. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have a huge selection of new stuff. If I was buying a new instrument Id always go here
I love this music store! They have great inventory and the workers are always kind and helpfull
Big shout out for Ben Bryan - in my view the best guitar tech in Seattle. Every time I bring an acoustic or electric to Ben for set up or repair, it comes out sounding and playing much, much better. Ben is fanastic
Nice place - maybe store - good selection of guitars and other instruments.
Took my amp and guitar to be serviced. Although they advertise it, they currently cannot do amp repair. They took my guitar and so far have had it for two weeks and cant tell me when its going to be done or even if someone has looked at it. Terrible service on the repairs side of the house. Go to Alvarez instead.
American Music is fresh! I have been buying musical items from them since 1987. I support local music stores and you should too. -DJ Able Fader
Fantastic selection and super helpful employees. All the instruments are available to play which is super great for figuring out which one plays the best.
Thats where I met Mike Inez/Alice in chains at American Music trying out basses. The staff know their stuff andwill bend over backward to help👍
Excelente Servicio, The Customer Services Is Awesome!!!
Bought a Yamaha guitar .. Had a defect in the in the bridge .. I returned it on warranty .. AM told me that Yamaha takes 3 months if Im lucky .. No use of temporary loaner guitar or offer of anything but thats the way it goes .. I was shocked that any company would have a customer service model like that but I had no choice .. Its been about 8 or so weeks now and I call to check in and the guy might know something isnt around and we donT know when he will be ..I asked if I could get money back from purchase and was assured that someone was working on it and to trust them .. I dont know what to do ..Any suggestions?
Music! Great staff and a good selection of products. Support local businesses!
Their sale person was helpful and response. My buying experience was good and they had what I wanted.
Phil really helped me out. Took a lot of time explaining how the equipment worked. Thanks Phil
A store full of what a musician needs, with specialty areas staffed with knowledgeable helpful staff to assist.
Best guitar store in Seattle to me. Just right range of guitars and amps.
Great place to buy and very knowledgeable staff.
Always a few interesting used finds but not enough used on-hand.
Cool staff. Great atmosphere. Check this place out
Variety of guitars. People seem to be taking lessons here. Not sure how that works.
Extremely good hardware but nothing special about the prices. A midi to USB cable is $40
I texted them and asked if their Rickenbackers were on sale. They texted me back saying indeed they were. I travel there, and guess what?....they werent!! Very disappointing 🙄
Bought my first bass guitar here more than 20 years ago. Still good. Nice selections here and people here know their gears.
Great music shop, customer service supreme.
Great place to go for music equipment.
Great selection and old school, knowledgeable service!
