Good folks at this location. Theyre a reliable place to get air fills. Most of the staff are regular divers so its nice to chat about the different sites around Seattle with them.
Staff is super friendly and genuinely excited to answer questions and talk about diving.
Great dive shop. Always super friendly and knowledgeable of local dive sites and equipment.
Just dropped by to fill/test/refill a BCA avalanche-airbag cylinder. Staff member was knowledgeable, friendly, and experienced. Price was spot-on for the service. Will definitely return the next time we need to test/fill a cylinder.
I went in for some fins as a gift for my eldest child. She is right inbetween youth and adult sizing. The staff member serving me was attentive, helpful and, most importantly, patient while I went through the choices. They said to bring them back if they were the wrong size.Due to my bad estimating they were too small. Took the first set back and was in and out in two minutes with the second set (that fit great!). No problems! Service like this is exceptional in this day and age!!! Recommended 100%.And the fins were $25 under the manufacturer sticker price: sweeeet!
Ive had a pool session there for my dry suit course. John and Mike were very helpful with selecting my rental gear. Jenn fixed a wrist seal unexpectedly fast!
Always very helpful
I took my introduction to Open Water Dive at Underwater Sports, Seattle. The staff were very cooperative and supportive. My instructor, Scott Welton, was outstanding. I wasnt the youngest student (74, - maybe the oldest) but Scott understood my anxieties and apprehensions perfectly and we worked through the process with a smile. Scott is thorough, requiring all maneuvers to be completed in order. He demands a high standard from his students and therefore produces a well informed graduate. I highly recommend Scott. Thanks
I want to first start by saying I have not purchased anything, taken any classes, or rented anything from this shop yet. I only had some gear serviced but I hope to use this shop more. My first experience with this shop was not great but the manager was very professional and made sure the issue was corrected, I was taken care of, and ensured me that this shop does care about the customer. I had my gear serviced and when i got it back and tested it in the shop, there was a leak coming from the SPG. I popped it out of the boot and saw part of the hose was cracked on the collar. I showed the employee that was helping me and she quickly assumed it was the SPG, she looked around for a replacement and could not find one. She said if I buy one, they will put it on for free. I was somewhat uneasy over this as I just got my gear serviced by a professional and it had an issue that was not caught and I was sent on my way. I am glad i noticed it (and did not dive with it) and took it home for a closer look to find out the SPG is fine, it is only the hose. Difference of a $130 repair vs. a $30 fix. Unfortunately, I had lost confidence in the equipment I received and the shop as a whole. I called back the next day and spoke with the manager, Ken. He was shocked with how the employee handled the interaction and encouraged me to come back to talk to him and so he can look the gear over. I went back in the next day, he was very friendly, professional, sincere, and really showed that he cared and wanted to make this right and keep me as a customer. He took the gear back, took it apart, found the issue, swapped the hose with a new one and fixed it within 15 minutes. I was bummed about what happened but he rectified the issue and made it all right and I am happy to say that I will be returning to the shop as a regular customer because of his effort. And while I waited, another friendly employee (I want to say his name is Matt but not 100%) was chatting me up, answering questions, showing me some products, and just being a very nice, welcoming employee. I walked out happy, knowing they do care at this shop and knowing that I will be a returning customer.
This is the best dive shop, I the PNW.
Staff was very helpful in setting up and changing diving courses for my teenage sons. Instructors (in particular Eric Shi) was very thorough and made sure concepts were understood. They did a lot of skill practicing in the pool and prepared well for open dive. Dealing with the cold water in the Pacific was a challenge for my son but with the instructor advice and support he made it!
With Covid happening and the kids summer camps and plans canceled, we were looking for a safe and meaningful accomplishment our 15 & 18 year old could do together. Remembering my son had asked for scuba lessons awhile back, thought this might be ideal. After looking around settled on Underwater Sports as the right fit and went in and spoke with Ken to share my concerns and goal. He got it and explained how their lessons would be a fun experience and safe. Cost and safety were a big issue for us and they had creative solutions for that. It helped that we planned to do the final certifying open water dives in a warmer climate (because the kids insisted on not diving in Puget Sound as a condition of taking the class). After 1.5 weeks of studying (a lot) online they were ready to start class in the onsite pool. The pool classes went so well that after the last class they came home and said they only wanted to go for the open water dive certification with their instructor because they only trusted him... and were even willing to dive in Puget Sound to do so. We were pleasantly surprised as we really thought it best to complete the certification all at once. The shop did a superb job gearing them up for the dive and had them try several sizes to get the right fit so they would be warm. On 1st dive day we came prepared with many hot water thermoses and hot food thinking they would be freezing... They came out and said they were hot – whew – and had a terrific experience. Day #2 went equally well, major credit to their awesome instructor Joel! One thing I was concerned about were hidden charges. The only surprise extra cost the dive log book $25, I believe. We had our own mask, fins and snorkels which saves some $ and a couple of times they had an equipment issue which they just resolved at no charge. Additionally, we feel Underwater Sports did not take $$ advantage of us when we decided to upgrade lessons to include the final open water dives. Finally, got the vibe multiple times they are out to build long term divers and positive diving experiences over selling gear to new divers. THANKS!
Mixed feeling about this place. Annie who helped us choose gear was really helpful and friendly. Ken on the phone is very energetic every time I call. My OW class didn’t go well because... long story short, I don’t like the instructor’s style. Recommend this place to get gear but I don’t recommend to take class here.
This is the ONLY place I go for certifications and dive gear. Truly a 1st class establishment with incredible staff and instructors. I cant recommend this dive shop more highly.
Took my open water PADI certification and instruction here. As someone who walked in knowing nothing about SCUBA, Underwater Sports was the perfect choice for the class. The instructor, Joel, has what seems like eons of experience and was able to coach my class of 7 through unique challenges each person was facing. The Dive masters assisting were also fantastic in helping individual understanding and safety. Several students additionally ended up having scheduling conflicts, and the whole team of DMs scheduled several different dive times at no additional charge. These guys and gals plain just love SCUBA and sharing that passion with others. If you want to get SCUBA certified in WA, go here.
I was very satisfied with my open water scuba diving class. Very knowledgeable and responsible ataff.
They have been very helpful. They take the time to make sure you get the right equipment that fits, and it works. Spiro and Andrew were both very informative as well as knowledgeable in all my questions. I purchased a dry suit and they were able to do training the first day I had available. These guys go out of there way to help you, and I highly recommend this shop for all your diving needs within the Seattle area.
The staff is very helpful for scuba diving gear, dive locations, and scuba classes.
They provided excellent advice and service. We went in initially one week before they were having a sale and they told us we should wait for the sale to get the best prices. The staff was very friendly. Katie was extremely knowledgable and helped us get the best equipment for our budget.
This place got excellent people, had a very fun time getting my certifications for diving. dive instructors were very understanding and helpful at getting my goals acquired so thank you to underwater sports keep up the good job.
My first time in with them wasnt terribly good. Tank rentals were expensive and its gonna take two weeks to get my regulator inspected and checked out, so Im not keen on going back. They are close by and thats a plus, but considering how long it took them to help me on my first visit they wouldnt be my first choice. Also just got off the phone and the guy sounded like he couldnt wait for me to hang up.
Was able to buy everything I need for the beginners openwater class and register in the same day! Got great prices with their diversfair going on. Very happy with my experience so far.
Great place! Got my scuba diving certification here and was a great process.
Always a blast to go there. Friendly and knowledgeable people. Quality equipment sales and repair work.
Neat little shop and the price was surprisingly great. Saved $$$ compared to online. Definitely made a repeat customer.
All of Underwater Sports stores are great. They offer the best prices, even beating the internet! They have amazing instructors!!
I went there for a dive certification class a while back. They had a new company taking care of the chemicals in the pool and they got it wrong. My girlfriends new bathing suit was ruined, we both had problems with red and dry skin, itching and peeling. We complained to the staff and they said they knew it was a problem, and it was also ruining their equipment. When we went for the open water dive they gave us the same equipment wed been using in the pool - equipment they said was being ruined by the chemical imbalance in the pool.I didnt think this was a very safe practice, and have not been back since.
Great shop, great people
Awesome!!
