Ballard Smoke Shop is a very interesting dive bar in Ballard close to Market. It always has a mixed crowd, and the drinks are usually good pours at a good price. The bartenders are friendly, and pretty quick with making drinks once you get their attention. This is a popular spot for bar crawls through Ballard, but be wary that their credit card machine goes down from time to time so you might need cash.

This is my favorite bar in Ballard and I was raised right up the road. Ballard is changing and being destroyed by these new hipsters. Such a comfort to have the old fisherman bar running the way it always hasbeen, nothing has changed and I love everything about this historic spot! Friendly folks, good drinks, no frills or gimmicks. Just a great local place to sit and enjoy! Great historical nautical decor. Small and intimate, dimly lit, perfect spot. Mixed crowd

I wish this place would divorce the cafe from the bar and create two site presences. I have always loved both, as an elder seaman, and blessings upon Neptune, the bar is always consistant. I would give it a 5 separately. But the cafe? The last couple of years, you never know what to expect. Sometimes closed, sometimes open, posted hours changing at the drop of a hat, and often not even observing posted hours. I think today will be the last time I hop on a bus and attempt to eat here, unless I call. IF they answer the phone! Since at my age, I HAVE to bus, Ill take my chances elsewhere, more dependable.

Classic diner style on one side and bar on the other. My husband and I went here while we waited for our tires to be replaced and the environment is so cool. We sat in the bar and as people came in, they were treated as family and everyone was familiar. Very cool to see. The food was classic diner food nothing great but no complaints.

Ballard Smoke Shop is a no frills bar with a few TVs, friendly staff and a nautical heritage. Great place to get a strong drink and hang out with friends in a relaxed environment. The food is solid and what you would expect from bar food.

Went here for a night cap after a show and was helped by the single nicest bartender Ive ever met. I cant remember your name but you are awesome bartender lady. Keep it up.

This review is for the restaurant side of the house. I cant speak for the lounge/bar side yet. The first time we visited, the food was good, service was friendly, and overall the place was well-priced. The second time was a bit of a mess. Pancakes were tough (assuming significantly over mixed?), eggs were extra runny, they were out of various items, and overall the food was mediocre at best. Service was super slow, the waitress kept bringing the wrong food/drink to our table, and we had to ask for any needed refills. 50/50 chance well try again.

Amazing size of appetizers so filing.. staff was sweet and helpful and knowledgeable about the drinks that are served there.. warning dont ring the bell at the bar or you gonna have to buy a round for the bar. Says smoke shop but no smoking is aloud.great dive bar

Pleasant coffee shop. Standard fare, I think breakfast all day. Reasonable prices. No parking, but not difficult to find parking; parking on the strret have City parking charge.

Bar is a dive but I a good way. A lot of repeat locals who know each other and the bar staff is consistent. They open at 8am in case you want to grab breakfast.

This place is terrible. I will not go back. A group of us arrived at this bar and all ordered drinks and sat down. There were two Indian guys with us and they kept giving them attitude and making them move even though they were sitting at the table. Only them, no one else. If that wasn’t enough, afterwards, we asked for water. They were quick to give it to us which was great! But within 5 minutes of having the water, they told us that if we didn’t buy another drink, we had to leave. We probably could have argued with them, but at this point we were already so upset at how our friends were being treated that we left. We are a group of respectable people with good jobs and would have purchased many more drinks. We had been drinking at another bar up the street for an hour or two before that and came to this bar and needed water to stay hydrated. I’ve never felt more disrespected in a bar or a restaurant in my life. 0/10. Will not go back.

Best the toast I have had in ages. Omelet was tasty and right sized. Hash browns done the way we like them. Friendly server. Not busy when we were there early so fast service. Simple diner atmosphere. Clean and in good shape.

Delicious and cheap diner food! Even if it is your first time there staff will make you feel as though youve been coming for years. Also, I have never waited for more than 5 minutes to be seated. Even on Sunday at 10AM!

I have been here twice in the last month. I really enjoy the food, its hard to find good diner food sometimes. The first time we went the wait staff forgot to put our order in and it was almost an hour before we got our food. The second time they also forgot to put the ticket in, and when they finally did the oven was broken and couldnt make the order. So after 40 minutes, I had to order something else and the table waited for all the food to come out together.Again, the food is good, and all the other tables seemed to get their food in a timely fashion. I just had a bad experience twice in a row trying this place.

Its really more the old school diner ambience, not the food. This place literally is an old school, old Ballard place. Get some strong drinks and just relax, the food will keep you alive but it isnt going to amaze.

The place has a great atmosphere. Marsha is the best bartender in the world and always has a good conversation to enjoy. Bottled Ranier and White Russians are to die for here. Next to the Mecca, one of the best bars in town.

Cheap beer and cocktails at the bar, great diner-style breakfast in the restaurant half. Inexpensive, good portions and tasty. The scrambles are delicious.

The people who go to this great place to eat and drink are awesome along with the people who work there as well. Great prices too.

Great comfort food at a reasonable price

The location is convenient, the food is good, though the bacon, thick as it is, is often a little tough. Still, its big, quiet, one of my friends works there, and the coffee is good.

Just sat at table in bar for10 minutes with occasional glance from woman bartender but NOTHING else. So I phoned and she immediately answered and I thanked her for great service, wished her Merry Xmas while walking out. Born Ballard and found similar service here before.

Best office with food on Ballard Ave.Great place to get breakfast any time of day. The locals seam to come out of the woodwork for this location. If you want to hang with the locals this is the place.

Way too long to get my single order. I placed my order and was the only person at the restaurant. After me, three separate small groups came in and all got their food before me. The period at the end, was the scamble I ordere was incorrect and a totally different menu item was delivered to me.

For some reason or another I always make it here for breakfast after going out in ballard and I can say with certainty that theyre sneaking b12 into the eggs because hangovers dont go away that fast on their own. The interior has a lot of history and space, the people who work there are friendly, the coffee is hot.

Great burger, good fries, good service, and the price is perfect.

Food was really good especially pablano chorizo scramble n mimosas, staff very nice, comfortable low key atmoshere ... Glasses for cocktails were dirty n takes awhile for food to be cooked is the reasons for this 4 star n not 5 ... Will go back again n again

Walked into this place 3 years ago and fell in love with the staff, ambiance, and food. Plus look at the fun things they do like travel back in time and honor customers with 1971 prices for their anniversary. This is a place that will be special to my heart and is the true essence of old Ballard! Going to bring my kiddos here one day:)
