This is really good cake. Its actually so good its great. Nope, this is pretty excellent! Thats how your first, second, and third bites will go as you taste the cakes created by Simply Desserts. Theyre every bit as fantastic pastries as any in the city. You wont find parking nearby so expect to walk a bit. As of 8/24/21 its cash only so arrive prepared! This cake is so good that if they asked you to pay in pesos you better find a way to make that happen.

They only accept cash or check! I find this quite strange and ended up being disappointed first attempt to eat here, like who carries cash or a checkbook nowadays? Anywho, I went back the next day and ordered the Chocolate Fudge and Banana Amaretto. The display prices were different, but the cashier said both are $6.00 after taxes.. a little strange. The Chocolate Fudge was average, the cake was nice, but the icing wasnt very good. The Banana Amaretto was good - almost like a banana bread with icing, but not very sweet overall. I preferred the Banana Amaretto over the Chocolate Fudge. The interior is OK. Its a small shop where if anyone is waiting in line they need to move in order for you to enter. The seats and tables are pretty bland and dont enhance the experience either. The prices are about $1 too high per slice. Overall, I would say its a nice place to grab dessert in Fremont, but the pricing and payment policies are inconvenient and the interior could use some love.

*July 2020* Theres a sign on the door that says one group of customer at a time inside. There was still a good variety of cakes available in the evening, like Chocolate Truffle (dark chocolate with dark chocolate frosting), Chocolate Fudge Cake (classic chocolate cake), Chocolate White Chocolate Cake and Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake. We chose Strawberry Cake, one of their bestseller recommended the cashier. For $6, it was a huge piece of cake. The cake was moist (though slightly doughy), the fresh strawberry and whipped cheese inside was light and not too sweet; the white chocolate frosting was sweet and a little hard. Overall, it was not the best cake ever but a satisfying experience nonetheless. The cake slice was large enough to be shared by 2 people.Tip: Cash or check ONLY

The staff was sunny and cheerful. The Chocolate Raspberry Cake was perfect, the raspberries had a fresh tart bite to them and the frosting was a hard shell of solid chocolate. This place impressively maintains a good atmosphere despite being by a major road. 10/10

Always amazing and they did not disappoint today. Love that this place is still thriving several decades since I first discovered this gem. Can count on my most favorite treat desires to be on hand and just as I remembered. Long time favorite is the white chocolate strawberry cake. Think next level strawberry shortcake. No whip cream of standard frosting here....instead strawberries and white chocolate ganache layers in-between incredibly moist cake. I dont even care much for cake, and yet I crave simply desserts. Yum yum.

Not open during the hours they have posted on their own door. And I’m not talking about a five-minutes-before-close situation. I mean they say they’re open until ten and you show up at nine to a closed sign on the door. Major disappointment, it would be nice to have a reliable dessert place with consistent hours.

I visited sometime after 8pm on a Thursday evening. When I arrived they had sold out of a few of the cakes, but they still had a bunch available. They also had cookies and brownies available to order. The woman working at the time was friendly and happy to answer any questions. I ended up going with a slice of the chocolate mocha cake. It was still moist at 8pm and it tasted just like the one I had from them at a family get-together a few years ago. Neither the chocolate or coffee overpowered the palate and the flavors were balanced well. If I’m looking for good cake in Fremont, I would definitely return.

Simply the BestFremont neighborhood has many things they should be proud off and one of them is this small, cute bakery shop located in the heart of their neighborhood.Simply Dessert made a name with the locals as simply providing delicious cakes without all that fancy decorations or such. They may look simple but thr taste isnout of this world. My favorite is the chocolate white chocolate. Very light and not too sweet. The chocolate white strawberry is very good as well. Very light and fresh.I suggest to eat them when it is in room temperature. Also this place is only cash so make sure to bring enough to try more than 1. Trust me you will love it!

The cakes are sooooo good! You can order a whole cake or come and get slices at the store. Cash or check only, so heads up. They also serve coffee (espresso) and they have some cupcakes and cookies to choose from. We always get the White Chocolate Strawberry cake, and its amazing. 👍👍 Theyre closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly when ordering a whole cake for a birthday or a party. I believe they need at least two days notice to make the cake. If you call and talk about what you need, theyre super helpful in helping you figure everything out.

Amazing cakes, but horrible business model/, customer service. I dont care how delicious your cakes are, only accepting cash/check is limiting your business. Whats more annoying than that is when they say they open at noon and showing up at noon to pick up a slice or two right when they open only to find out they dont have slices or cakes available whatsoever. Because to them opening time just means the time they start baking even though if you ask every other bakery or restaurant for that matter that ever existed, open means you have product to sell your customers. Try waking up early to bake and have actual cake ready to go like every other bakery on the planet.

The best cake, I always end up getting the same flavor every time because its perfect. The strawberry cake is like a vanilla/white chocolate with fresh strawberries between the cake layers. Lots of frosting inside. The frosting that covers the cake is like straight up buttery white chocolate, thick and creamy. They are still cash or check only but its worth it. There is a Bank of America ATM across the street or PCC around the corner.

Checked on Google, theyre open so I drove from far away, got there, they didnt have the cake size I was looking for. Thats reasonable, so I decided to go for the slices. They only accept cash or checks 🤔. With this covi 19 stuff I dont carry cash around anymore so I was not able to buy anything 😔. Im giving them 3 starts because the place smell amazing so maybe theyre delicious cakes ... their location is super inconvenient because there is not free parking around. So if you have cash and are walking or youre willing to walk for quite some time or have the time then sure give them a try, they seems nice.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered a half sheet cake for my husband and 14 year old daughters birthday. They called to let me know it was available to pick up at which time they asked if they could cut it. I have bought many cakes for birthdays here and have never been asked that. I began to better understand their question at which point I realized they messed up my order and made me a small cake instead of a large cake. Instead of taking responsibility, fixing my order, and apologizing the woman on the phone blamed me for their mistake and honestly bullied me on the phone. I asked to speak to a manager at which point she refused and stated I could talk to her instead. Honestly, worst service I have ever had in my life and I will NEVER buy a cake there again. If you need a cake for a birthday don’t trust this small business! Oh, and now I have to rush to find a cake. Thanks Simply Deserts for your epic fail!

This place is absolutely fantastic. Easily the best classic american cakes in the city. With the incredible rise in specialty boutique bakeries in Seattle from the cupcakes craze to the the modern fusion bakeries a place that makes an otherworldly chocolate cake or sublime red velvet cake is entirely welcome. Bought Chocolate Truffle cake for a birthday, $50. For the amount of positive reviews, I expected better. The cake was dry and could have used a soak, the rosettes were rushed and not uniform, the layers were uneven, they were late and I had to wait past my pickup time. The cake felt rushed and I would have rather saved $30 and bought something at Safeway. Didn’t help the birthday girl works with cakes, whoops. Won’t go back.

After walking past this place for years, I finally stopped in to today, and what a disappointment. Incredibly ordinary chocolate cake for $5 a slice. Barely any frosting on the side or middle. Not very chocolate-ty tasting. I think they are skimping on frosting and chocolate to save money. Don’t waste your money. Walk down the block to PCC. Get a slice of the Parisian Star (I think that’s the name) cake. A smaller slice but amazing quality. It actually tastes like chocolate. I feel like brushing my teeth to get the aftertaste of this cake out of my mouth.
