Great little shop. If definitely trust them to work on my MAC. They are honest and fair in price and don’t try to hustle you to buy stuff you don’t need. They actually gave me an adapter for free because they just felt like there was no need to pay for it. These kind of places are rare to find today. This is a great store for computer service.

I had a great experience at West Seattle Computers. I was having issues charging my laptop and was worried that I would have to get the port replaced. The techs at West Seattle Computers narrowed the issue down to the cable on the charger, and sold me their shop cable for a very reasonable price. Their communication was great and I really appreciate their integrity for finding the simplest (and cheapest!) solution. I highly recommend this shop!

I am so happy I took my 2010 Macbook to this shop, I was starting to get really worried and the thought of buying a new or more current Macbook for $1,000+ was terrifying and not financially smart for me at the time. I e-mailed West Seattle computers and they responded quickly and called me. Ron and the crew were very respectful and provided efficient information and service even in the time of COVID. I got a call every step of the way and Ron went over what my computer needed and he went over pricing and procedure with me before doing anything. I am very excited to have a 10 year old laptop working like new while not loosing any of my essential programs.

Im dependent upon my laptop for work/travel, and was dismayed when TSA removed my laptop from my bag without my knowledge behind the x-ray machine. I arrived home without my laptop, and when I finally tracked it down and had it Fed-Exed to me, the hinge was broken. Panic! Unfortunately, more than the hinge was damaged, and it was more cost effective to buy a new laptop than to repair my old one. West Seattle Computers was very helpful and honest in their diagnosis and assessment. Eric gave me good pointers on a replacement, and they transferred everything from my old hard drive and got me back up and running quickly. Very knowledgeable, patient, and pleasant techs, and they followed up to make sure I was satisfied.. Nice to have a local business that I know I can trust.

I’m a local DJ business in Seattle and I cannot recommend Eric, Ron and Mike enough!! They do great work! I had some issues with one of our PC interfaces on our Photo Booth and they helped me get our system back on track in no time. Mike recently helped me get a few other side things done without any fuss and didn’t even charge me for it! 5 stars all around and highly recommend them! They are often busy so make sure to schedule an appointment first!

I called this place and inquired about repair of water damage on my computer. I was quoted by Nathaniel $60 for cleaning the water damage for a total of $150 if the computer works. When I brought my computer in on Friday, the front desk guy Ron quoted me $105 for cleaning. Nathaniel intervened confirming the $60 quote. on my request, they were going to check with the manager Eric on the price discrepancy. I also tried to inquire what does the cleaning entails, and Ron went completely blank. I asked if this includes sonic bath cleaning and he said that they dont do that and the technician uses cleaning solution. Three days later on Monday morning I called and Ron tells me the technician hasnt looked at my computer yet. So you mean to tell me you didnt do anything with it for three days, at least you could have opened it and let it dry over the weekend - I asked? Then he said oh we did that and repeated what I said which sounded like a lie. He calls me few hours later to tell me there are water damages on various components, something I already knew because I opened the computer and saw the water damage indicators turned red. Again I asked him what exactly was done with my computer and again he is not capable of providing clear information, not even tell me if they tried to turn it on or not. What he was the most concerned about was that I need to pay they additional $45. I asked to speak to the Manager but he was out till Tuesday. I hang up but called a bit later to talk to the technician and Ron tells me he is busy and will call me later. I tell him I need to know what was done so that I can tell that to the next place I am taking my computer to. Again, some wishy washy answer how the technician is really busy and he cannot speak to me, but the Manager approved to have the $45 waived. Can I speak to the manager, can you have him call me? At this point, I didn’t expect the manager nor the technician to provide me with clear information. More so, I suspect there was nothing done on my computer, and that this place doesnt really know how to deal with this kind of issue. Ron asked me if I still want to pick up my computer, I said of course. Then he asked me if I need to have the data recovered, and I said no. When I went to pick up the computer, I was not able to get more details on what was done with it, even though the technician was just sitting idle watching YouTube. Again, Ron intervened and said hell call the police, because I insisted on an explanation about the wash they supposedly performed on my computer. From other reviews, it looks like the only thing that this business can do with computers is transfer data. Why would I wanna deal with this place when its frontman lack basic customer service skills? And no thanks, data recovery is something that even a woman like me can do. For everything else, next time I am willing to drive outside of West Seattle if this is what it takes to have some honest repair done.

My son had a laptop with a broken screen and a huge desire to get it fixed ASAP. This shop was easy to talk to, gave us honest estimates of the time and money required to fix the screen and got the job done in less time than promised. We came in late in the day to drop off the laptop. Their technician stayed late that night to troubleshoot the repair and then stayed late to get it done. The next day, my son ran out of time and wasnt going to be able to get to the store before closing. He called and asked them to stay open a few minutes late so he could make it, and they did! They were very gracious about staying late and we had a fantastic experience all the way around. Would definitely recommend West Seattle Computers to any and all.

Took my macbook in to have a diagnosis done on it. The machine wasnt booting and after trying all of the basic keypress sequences and trying to do a safe boot I was stumped. They charge $49 for a diagnosis which is fair. Unfortunately they had no clue why it was happening and instead told me its working just fine. Ok, I can accept that. The problem arose when they asked me if I wanted them to clean the inside of the machine for an additional $60. I said no, I can easily do that myself. To which they told me they had already done the work while the tech was inside the computer. They then said it would be $60. I agreed to pay and hung up. I called them right back though when I realized how dishonest it is to do work without getting consent and then charge for it. To top it off, the price of $60 for a cleaning normally covers the cost of taking the machine apart. Because they had already charged me $49 to take the machine apart, they were effectively double charging me for work they had already done. In the end they didnt charge me for the cleaning but I left feeling like they were really dishonest. I imagine other people get charged for this all of the time and either dont know better or are too shy to stand up for themselves. Shame on you West Seattle Computers! In addition, when you surrender your laptop and its password along with all of the potentially sensitive files on your laptop to a tech, it feels really uneasy knowing that they are not 100% honest in their business practices. Who knows if you can trust them with your files.

Im not computer savvy at all. I did know enough, however, to explain to Eric what I had been told my laptop needs (RAM) and what I want to do with it, which is to download podcasts of programs I had previously listened to streaming via a wifi that is no longer available. To manage the commands I figure would need a new wireless mouse. In less than two hours I got the call. It was done. This morning I downloaded my first podcasts for later listening when I will have no internet access. I will take the Mac to West Seattle Computers to see what upgrades are possible. I could not be happier with the service and am glad such a resource is in the neighborhood.

EDIT (11/25/15): I called this morning and spoke to Eric (the owner) who assured me they would be more than happy to take the laptop and return it back to its initial state at time of drop off, free of charge. On top of this, Jason (one of the techs) called while I was on the phone with Eric, wanting to apologize for him not checking whether it booted up after reassembly, and assuring me it would be corrected. While its unfortunate the screen couldnt be fixed as easily as I had hoped, this very human effort to make sure their businesss reputation and customer service record remains intact is a big positive in my book.ORIGINAL REVIEW (11/24/15): My laptops screen stopped working roughly a year ago. Everything else worked just fine, and it was still completely functional with an external monitor plugged in, functioning as the laptops display. I finally decided to have it fixed and brought it in to West Seattle Computers. I knew the issue wasnt with the GPU as, again, it displayed video absolutely fine on any external monitor plugged into it. I explained this to the owner when I came in, saying that it was likely either the screen itself, or the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the motherboard. He said he would have a tech diagnose it and they would call me in a few days with what they found. I happily paid the $45 fee and went on my way.Roughly a week later, I called them back to check on the laptop and see if they had found anything. I was told that it was the screen that was bad and a new unit would cost $75 with labor set at $90. I gave the go ahead to order the new screen and make the repair.I call again a week later, and am told by the tech that they installed the new screen, but the backlight wont stay on, so they recommend replacing the GPU as well as the CPUs fan for another $215, which may or may not fix the problem. I decline the recommended service and request they return the screen they ordered (since it didnt fix the existing issue), reinstall the original screen, and seal it back up. The added repairs would have exceeded the laptops value to me, so it was no longer worth it. At this point, however, I am a bit disgruntled as, at a minimum, I believe Im now on the hook for $90 of additional labor that amounted to nothing more than further expenses. The tech says hell transfer me to the owner. The owner asks what the problem is, I explain my concerns, and he tells me that theyll take care of it and I wont owe them any more money beyond what I had already paid at time of drop off. Fantastic, thats fair.Fast forward to today and my laptop is ready for pickup. I arrive in the store, sign the form stating Ive received my laptop, and head out.I get home just now to find the laptop no longer turns on and the glass cover of the screen isnt glued down on two of the four edges. Obviously, Im not happy. So I call the store back and the tech answers. I tell him my laptop wont turn on now, and Im told Ill need to bring it back in to see if he maybe missed something when he was reassembling it. Clearly something occurred between the day I dropped it off and picked it up since it no longer turns on. Its one thing that the initial issue wasnt resolved, fine, I can deal with that. What I cant abide is receiving my laptop back in a worse condition then it was in when a repair shop took it.Ill be calling the store again tomorrow when they open and will update this review based on what follows.
