I love working from this cafe. Great coffee and treats. Good atmosphere too! This one time crows were roosting outside and attacking everyone who walked by and it was fantastic to watch.
Honestly the best coffee I’ve had in the city. I got a cappuccino and a chocolate chunk cookie. The fruity notes in the espresso really came through in a way I have only seen at top of the line spots. I ended up going back half an hour later to buy a bag of coffee. Great place for coffee nerds and novices alike!
Lovely spot with nice ambiance. The lavender latte was really nice and not overpowering. The breakfast bun is excellent, with tender egg, a soft seed bun, and good topping options. Was disappointed by the salmon mousse because it wasnt mousse, and was Scandinavian style salmon salad instead. Overall will go again happily, but will probably ask for more info before ordering anything fancy.
I live in Portland, OR but visit my family in Ballard frequently. I’m really particular about well-made cappuccinos - which are really hard to find even in the relatively savvy PNW.I’ve tried at least half a dozen coffee shops in this immediate neighborhood and am never that happy with the drinks I get. This place gave me the best cappuccino I’ve had in months. Super friendly service. Long line when I pulled up, but I was waiting in that line less than 5 minutes. Had my perfect drink in my hands a couple minutes later.Highest marks in all aspects of how I judge a coffee shop. So glad I finally found a local spot that impresses.
Love this place! Great neighborhood cafe with delicious small bites and creative drinks. I’m also a big fan of the the plant decor — sometimes I like to peek in just to see how they’re doing :).
Excellent Scandinavian inspired coffee and treats. Good vibe at the cafe too. Have enjoyed getting both coffee and beans to go here.
I had the mole mocha, which was really good. Service is nice and there are a good number of indoor and outdoor seating options. Good dog watching spot!
Cute little corner coffee shop. They roast their own coffee and make all their pastries in house. I tried the brown sugar & rosemary latte and a delightful raspberry bar. The coffee was perfect in everyday. Not too sweet with just a hint of rosemary, creamy & smooth. Barista, Izzy, was super friendly too!
Coffee shops that embrace experimentation are great and Venture is certainly among them. In a neighborhood with many coffee options, Venture stands as one of the best.
Don’t go here if you want exceptional service. The baristas here are disrespectful to those that are different races other than caucasian. Especially the one barista, with dark hair greets everyone except darker skinned people. Just get coffee down the street, way better and the service is better.
One of the better coffee spots in the area. Always superb coffee, a nice selection of pastries, and friendly staff. You really cant go wrong here.
My partner and I used to be regulars, but our past couple of experiences have been disappointing. The chai tea was subpar- overly sweet and the only notable flavor was star anise, with no real notes of cinnamon, pepper, clove, or other spices. My sandwich was soggy and slimy, to the point that the bread basically disintegrated, and despite my hunger I couldnt finish the thing. The lid on my partners drink leaked, spilling all over her on the first sip (we confirmed that the lid was tight and secured to the cup, but that didnt matter- it still leaked). Top that off with the joint generally being overcrowded and the flow of traffic making poor sense (causing a consistent bottleneck at the front door), and were not keen on returning.
Its a welcoming cafe with a neighborly vibe. I saw several people coming and going and being addressed by name. The interior is nice, albeit cluttered and the table I sat at was wobbly including the chair. I ordered a Fancy Avocado Toast, Danish Salmon Lox Bagel, Cappuccino, and Mole Mocha. The Avocado Toast was tasty with a ripe avocado and fresh ingredients. The portion was small and pricey ($9). The Danish Salmon Lox was tasty as well - no complaints. The Cappucino was OK. It needed some sugar, but they only had Stevia and Splenda. I put some Cacao and it made the drink good. The Mole Mocha was surprisingly good. It was like drinking hot chocolate with a subtle spice. It was unique and appreciated. Overall, this is a nice cafe and Ill likely be back.
I went in this morning. There was one person working and one person seated. I accidentally went to the pickup line first, then realized my mistake and moved to the order line. It was obvious Id never been there before. Im new to working in the neighborhood. The person working didnt acknowledge me. He proceeded to go to the fridge and get prep work. He cut and scooped out three avocados, then stirred them while I waited for 3 minutes. Three more people came in. He never acknowledged any of us. I finally left so I wouldnt be late to work. Ill never go back.
We love this place; its become part of our daily routine! Excellent people, drinks, pastries, and food.
Update 4/17/2019: I visited this place again. It went through a major refurb since 10 months ago. It’s now called Venture Coffee. The style has changed a bit, and sandwiches and tea beverages are super amazing!——-Such a lovely coffee shop that makes your day off to a great start! One of a very few places that open at 6am, so you can enjoy delicious tea, coffee AND paninis or bagels before going to work.Service is very friendly and polite. You’ll feel cozy and comfortable inside.Pet friendly!
This place is unforgettable. Because it’s the first and only time I’ve ever experienced someone walking in on me using the restroom. I dipped so hard they still have to rename Ursa Minor.Delicious espresso and breakfast, although the sandwiches could be grilled a little longer. You have to eat it quick or it’ll get cold too fast.
Great coffee, staff are awesome and know regulars first name and drink of choice.
Stepped in because curious about the super latte sign outside. I ordered beet root latte. Never thought about beet root can be mixed with coffee, however they did a amazing job to it! I can feel their super latte maybe inspired by chai latte. The beet root latte did taste rich of spice and of course the taste of beet root. Its a interesting try. I like it. Gonna try their other super latte. The environment is quite comfy. Pretty chilled place for spending with friends or with a book.
The line can get long in the morning (even on weekdays!) and the coffee is pricier than other Ballard options but I love their cold brew and the staff is always so friendly!
Such good drinks. I love the unique flavor profiles. Would definitely come again.
Super friendly staff and amazing coffee and food. If you’re in Ballard, you have to swing by Venture Coffee Co.
Good coffee ☕ and nice burista. I will definitely go back.
Always friendly, good coffee, great pastries! Dont let proximity to the overrated besalu deter you from giving them a try!
Coffee was lukewarm, Barrister was indifferent, service I give them a three out of 10.If the most important thing in your life is being safe from COVID-19 then you should go there because that’s all they care about. Quality of coffee and service out the window. And as soon as they have your money you’re going to be out the window As well!
Best cafe in Ballard. They get pastries fresh from their bakery every morning. Baristas are super friendly and welcoming. Try the Chi Chai, they also sell it by the bottle to make at home.
Cute neighbourhood cafe with the best coffee in all of Ballard. Friendly staff, great pastries and breakfast, also love the creative seasonal drink flavours! They’re currently following state Covid guidelines to make everyone feel safe.
The coffee is great, but that bacon egg and cheese sandwich was out of this world! The bun they used was soft and eggy... Possibly a brioche bun. Also they used a real egg which the yolk was cooked just perfect so it was still yolk-y but didnt run down my face. Definitely get that sandwich. Cute decor too.
Lovely neighborhood cafe in Ballard. Great coffee and they remembered my dogs name!
You absolutely have to have their chai Tea with oat milk.seriously the best chai I have ever had
The people behind the counter are very friendly and helpful.
Easily some of the best coffee in the area. The staff is professional and friendly. They serve Hagen Coffee Roasters and while it is super important to source good coffee (which they do), its equally important to know how to brew it well and they certainly know what theyre doing! They do great work!
Awesome local coffee shop. Love the new Danish pastries that are getting from Hagen Bakery ! I tried the sesame twisty pastry and 16 oz oat chai, both were delicious !
Great coffee and wonderful people!
So excited to see a coffee house with good food! There are so many places to grab coffee and sugary pastries, but Ballard really needed a great place that also had delicious food without an hour wait. So happy to have this place! The staff are always extremely friendly (can’t say that for most places or coffeehouses around Ballard) and the inside is cozy and comfy. Great addition to the neighborhood!
During 2nd shut down servers were upbeat, friendly, personable and made us the best sandwiches Ive had in years. PUmpkin spice latte was perfect too. A great experience in Ballard.
The coffee is good. The service is good. They have a small but tasty breakfast menu. I love this place.
Awesome toast !! Great coffee !Thank u for morning yumminess
The specialty drinks are just right so you can still taste the coffee (which is excellent) along with the flavorings. I had the Vienna.
My wife and son have been getting coffee and breakfast sandwiches here a few times in the past couple of months. The staff is always very friendly and the orders come out quick. Everything is always delicious. It’s a fantastic local Ballard spot for coffee and breakfast/lunch.
Wonderful coffee and friendly people
Local neighborhood coffee shop next to two bakeries. Every time I am in Ballard I swing by this place, friendly staff, nice selection of single origin coffee, and great breakfast buns.
The staffs were nice and friendly. They serve the best coffee in that area.
Indifferent, slow service, no one even acknowledged customers arriving, waiting for a an order. Waited close to ten minutes to even place an order. Gave up and went to Larsons for friendly attentive service. #whybother
Very good coffee. Breakfast sandwich was good. Other snacks left something to be desired.
I just had the best experience with friendly service, comfortable atmosphere and DELICIOUS food and iced beverage. A perfectly balanced iced vanilla latte with almond milk (recommendation was a “split shot”, who knew?!). On the menu, I spotted “Avocado Toast” and ordered. Minutes later, a mound of fresh avocado, arugula, tomato and feta arrived. A drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkling of black sesame seeds topped it off.Between the friendly faces and the food/drink selection, I’ll be back soon!!Thank youCarrie C.
Very cool vibe and delicious coffee. Will definitely return.
I love their Copenhagen special drink
Great food, amazing coffee, and excellent people. Very impressed with the customer service! Great job
This place is awesome, great coffee and super nice staff, plus it’s just off of all the busier market st stuff so it’s super chill. Fast WiFi, outlets, good seating, and they even open the full wall windows when it’s warm! Absolutely love this spot, always great to post up and work on stuff here or just hang outside.
Friendly service, great coffee, nice place to work (non covid)
Best neighborhood cafe! Love the atmosphere and the espresso was perfection. Will come back for sure !
The owner and staff of Java Bean Organic Coffee are truly and honestly committed to building a friendly, welcoming, community oriented atmosphere. On my first visit, they treated me like an old friend. As I sat working I heard them greet almost every patron by first name as they came through.Thats not even to mention the delicious beverage creations and innovations being brewed behind the counter. A wonderful and comfortable spot.
Comfortable atmosphere, wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable staff, and delicious drinks have made Venture one of my favorite coffee places. A wonderful spot to read, work, or simply enjoy a nice cup of artisan espresso!
They make a killer coconut milk mocha. I think it was a little cheaper than other more popular alternatives too. Pleasantly surprised. Absolutely recommend checking these guys out. Theyll be my go-to from now on.
The coffee here is the best in Ballard but I wish they had vegan snack items :(
Great place just a little of Market St. Very cool environment with comfy seating. Small outdoor seating options if the weather allows. So far the service has been great.Coffee has been okay. Need more visits to give true evaluation of the drinks.Dog friendly!!!
I think this place has a great atmosphere. Unpretentious, calm, neighborhood feel. Lots of locals just enjoying each others company, sitting around chatting. This is like a welcoming livingroom!Im allergic to caffeine so I cant comment on their coffee quality, but I did love my chamomile tea. Will definitely be back!
Love this place! Best coffee, egg sandwiches AND they make all their own syrups!
A cozy but lively coffee shop in Ballard that features the usual pastries and espresso drinks as well as sandwiches and pourover coffee.
Bagel sandwichs are solid and coffee is excellent. Beautiful space to hang out, and service is top notch!
Friendly place with wonderful coffee, signature drinks and pastries. The owner and baristas are always there to say “good morning” and know most of their costumers by name. Great place to meet somebody as it isn’t loud and the regular groups who meet there are always very respectful. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a monastery but you can hear yourself think while others go about their socializing and coffee business. Cozy, warm place...love it.
Best service in Ballard, and very consistent quality. A total gem! Pastries (not made in house) are decent but go here for the coffee and calm atmosphere. The owner is really nice and has a great memory for repeat visitors.
I loved my experience here! I had active charcoal added my drink. Amazing! The staff were so incredibly friendly and the atmosphere was so welcoming!
I dont even like coffee very much! I love all of the specialty drinks here, they are flavorful, smooth and not overly sweet. The decor is wonderful and there are great standing benches near the windows that I use when Im working from home. One of my favorite spots in Ballard!
I chose this cafe over the highly rated bakeries next door as I was craving egg with my breakfast coffee. Coffee was great, bagel great, eggs a bit disappointing. Scrambled comes sliced in same size slices as the cheese. All felt a bit prefab to me. For the rest, i had a relaxed visit.
Best coffee and bagels, love the service too! Always a great experience
Great coffee shop. I love the Mole & Vienna their specialties. The pastries & evens are great. New owners and new look in progress but keeping a bit of the old decor. Highly recommend!
This is a cannot miss gourmet coffee shop in Ballard. It takes it mission to provide superior drinks and food very seriously. Owned and managed by a scientist, all recipes are carefully created and measured to perfection to provide you the best coffee and best food in town!
So glad to have this place as my local cafe. Friendly service, chilled ambience and the best coffee in the area.
Try their specialty drinks. Theyre to die for.
Great fresh food and coffee, very nice staff. This place is family friendly, nice place to grab a latte and sandwich and read a book or get some work done or chat with a new friend.Recommended!~skye
I love this place. Ive been going there for years and they have never let me down. They have very good tasting coffee.Try the cafe vienna, its my personal favorite.
Great coffee and food. Java Beam has a super chill atmosphere and comfortable seating. The music is also nigjt and it all adds up to a great place to hang out.
So good! I forget the name of the bagel sandwich I got but it was a bit spicy and had Mamas lil peppers - do yourself a favor and get it! Latte was good. Almond croissant was great. Cute place.
This place has some of the best coffee in Seattle, and it has a pleasant and homey atmosphere. Im not very fond of the food though, and its a little expensive. Also, the owner is not very nice to his staff, and it sometimes shows. Not in their attitude towards customers (almost always charming and pleasant), but sometimes they seem a bit beaten down.Though just this morning one of the staff told me they couldnt make a drink theyve made several times for me before.
Whooooaaa! Major upgrade! The space is much more bright and better arranged. They might have to work on organizing a longer line now! (Perhaps with a door that opens towards the outside ?) It seems like the baristas have also been better trained and the drinks appear more consistent. Wonderful work, Venture!
Such a cute spot and lady at the register was super nice and helpful. The latté she made for me was absolutely delicious. thank you!!❤️
I love this place! The couple that owns the cafe are so friendly and really passionate about the coffee they produce. Their chai latte is to die for!!
Java Bean has long been a favorite spot for my family. It was a daily haunt for us when we lived across the street after moving to Ballard 8 years ago and we still go regularly after moving a few miles away. The coffee is exceptional even in Seattle where their are a lot of shops serving excellent coffee. The signature drinks are delicious, the servers are kind and move at a good clip, the atmosphere is cozy, and the eggel sandwichs are tasty.
People are friendly enough but my bagel sandwich was just ok. Good bagel but not one I need to get again. The lemon cake is supposed to be delicious.
Amazing coffee and delicious bagel breakfast sandwiches ! Great experience!
I came here almost every week day for most of 2016 while dog-walking, and Maria (the new owner) is an absolute joy, as are Adam, Mia and the rest. Ill really miss coming here all the time and doing my crossword and catching up with the gang... the coffee is great (and so are the eggels) and the service is A+ :) stay cool, guys!! Catch ya on the flip side!
Great local spot! delicious coffee and food, friendly staff, and cozy interiors.
Tried the single origin Colombia on pour over and a salmon sandwich, absolutely delicious and super unique. Coming back soon :-)
Excellent breakfast bagels, I belive the only one serving breakfast bagels in the neighborhood, and great coffee selection. I tried the single origin on drip and came back for a refill. Really friendly baristas too. Coming back when I am back in Seattle.
Great coffee and very friendly staff. Love the design and the vibe of the place!
