Cozy coffee shop with views of Pike Place. Came here on a Saturday morning around 10:30 and there was a long line, but it moved at a relatively okay pace. There’s indoor seating available (no outdoor). Credit cards are accepted. Go up the stairs to the third level to get to the entrance. You order at the counter, pay, and then they make your drinks right then and there. Light pastries are also available. If you provide your email address, you can get a free mug. They have self-service items like lids, napkins, etc to the right hand side of the entrance. There were a lot of people sitting down but we were able to grab a table, and then move to the counter seating by the window to get a nice view. It’s more so a spot to hang out with friends rather than do work. We even saw someone bring their kitten into the cafe (the kitty was super cute) so it may be hard to focus (at least on weekends).
HIDDEN GEM!! With out a doubt this is my go to coffee spot in Seattle and ya it may be known for the first Starbucks…but this place is above the rest. Pun intended and you will see that when you have to go above and beyond to get to this place and they have the best bathrooms around by far they are clean and not busy and I just love to drink and pee at this place and the staff are always hella cool!! Thanks so much and if it’s your first time you get a new cup!!!
Definitely worth the wait! I’m all for finding amazing coffee shops when especially when I travel and Storyville made it to the top of my list. Got the cappuccino with homemade cashew mylk and the first sip was WOW. I’ve never had a coffee that tasted like this. The frosted cinnamon roll was out of this world! Will be back in no time!
This place definitely stands out among all the coffee places in Seattle. Skip the long lines at the “original “ Starbucks” down the street and stop here. Not only does it have a really good latte but it also has a great space to sit and relax while having your coffee. It maybe a little hard to find because its on the second level of the corner market building. Once your there you’ll see the place feels cozy, quiet, and has a awesome view of the market. It’s a nice place to stop and take a break from loud busy market.
I have visited Seattle over a dozen times and have never been to Storyville until this week. As much as I have historically loved Moore and Espresso Vivace, this is hands down the best latte/cappuccino since Italy. Beyond the amazing coffee, they offered a free mug, free drink with bean purchase, and even a free slice of chocolate cake! We visited Storyville 2 times during our 3 day trip. The line moved quickly and employees were beyond friendly. This is my new go to spot whenever I return. I bought a bag of beans and can’t wait to try making my own coffee at home. Thanks for an amazing experience!
Loved the vibe of this place. Although there is usually a line, it moved quickly and we were able to get seats by the couches. I ordered a flat white while my partner ordered an oatmeal cookie and black coffee. There may have been too much milk for my liking in my flat white coffee but the winner was the breakfast sandwich which had goat cheese, egg, and bacon. To die for!
I met this place through a friend, she invited me a coffee, it is a phenomenal place, you should not miss it, the staff is very friendly, the place is cozy and makes you forget that you are in such a busy city, the baristas are incredible and apart I left with a gift! Yes ! They gave me a beautiful mug for my coffee just because it was the first time I was going, I can’t wait to go again.
Yes there will probably be a wait if you’re going peak times, yes it is worth the wait. This is not going to be your every morning coffee shop unless you’re made of money. They’ll give you a free coffee mug for your first visit in exchange for your email so you can get signed up for all of their promotional material (yay marketing). All of this being said, do you have people coming into town? Bring them here. Is it a special occasion? Go here. This place is great and consistent and the atmosphere is one of a kind.
Seriously the best coffee shop I’ve ever been too.The staff is so friendly. We just have to start with that. We walked in with three children and they gave it to my kids and cooking. That just shows respect, care, and thoughtfulness. Also have a little thing or if you fill out their survey to give you a free cup. Even better. Then the coffee. The coffee is so good.
Very chic location tucked away on the top floor of Pikes Place. Its a bit hard to find - I wandered a bit before asking a security guard who showed us the elevator for the 3rd floor we didnt know existed! Regardless, its a gorgeously done coffee shop filled with dark wood and scenic views. I really liked the curve ordering counter and friendly staff. Best part, they offered us a free mug and patiently explained the promotion. The coffee is really good too. Definitely bring any out of town visitors here to blow them away!
Delicious! The wait was totally worth it! Waited in like for about 15min and ordered a cold brew with a breakfast sandwich. The coffee was a little too bitter they slightly burnt it but it makes sense because there were serval people and orders. Nonetheless it was good way better than Starbucks (my friends drink is the Starbucks one non coffee) and the breakfast sandwich is one of the tastiest things Ive had. Buttery toasted bread, crispy bacon, cheese and fluffy egg. Perfect 💗
Beautiful place for coffee! Tasty beans (I bought a bag of decaf). If you buy beans ($14 for a bag) you can get a free drink of choice. My drink was $7 for an iced decaf mocha, so it was a good deal!Pros:Tasty coffee, free mugs (scan the QR code), free drink if you buy beans, pretty locationCons:Expensive food (I just get drinks here), bathrooms are not available, lines are usually 10+ minutes to order
A quaint place in the hustle and bustle of PIKE place market. You get a good view of the bay as well. The staff are very friendly and polite. You get a free coffee mug if its your first time and you signup with you email. I got the Cortado, it was very good. Its located in the third floor, so just be mindful of the stairs.
Great views of the Puget Sound! Nice coffee shop above pikes place. Only downfall is it’s popular and has a line out the door during peak times. Understandable, it’s a great spot! The interior is warm and slightly industrial rustic but clean cut and sharp. We’ve tried the drip, lattes and warm americano and today the iced americano was just right with the warmer weather. Many great spots to sit and talk, work or wander off in your mind.
Located at the top floor of the corner market, in case you can’t find it at street level. But it was well marked. Good coffee, plenty of seating on a weekday morning. If you’re on a budget or just prefer coffee to espresso, ask for French press coffee. It’s not explicitly on the menu. The prices are pretty steep, but the location might be worth it. I’ve never been on the weekend, but as a Seattle local I can imagine that the atmosphere is infinitely better on a weekday.
Prices are a bit higher, but well worth it! Coffee is some of the best Ive had in Seattle, and the food was excellent. The atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing, and the staff were very pleasant at all times (in the bigger and smaller interactions).
Storyville coffee is the best! I used to buy coffee outside of home to satisfy that “good coffee” cravings. Now I don’t even want to buy coffee anywhere else but drinking at home. I wish we had Storyville here but as I am in Alabama now I have to get them shipped but every time coffee arrives it’s like Christmas to me! I even introduced it to my dad who loves coffee but is in Japan, he now fell in love with it too. Definitely recommend this!
Stoped by here after a recommendation from a coworker. Drink was absolutely delicious and was at the perfect temperature. Definitely had to ask where it was located once at the market. The staff was very nice and the store had a welcoming atmosphere.Price was a bit expensive for a mocha, welcome to Washington! However, the free mug was nice. Will recommend this place to other coworkers and any family I have visit pikes market from out of state looking for the Washington coffee experience.
Ok I admit it - Storyville successfully lured me in, along with all the other tourists. If you didnt already know, this coffee shop offers free mugs to anyone who signs up for their email list. If that wasnt enough, they also give out free cups of coffee to those who buy a bag of their beans. I shouldve suspected that something was wrong when I looked at the prices of the drinks on their menu. $7 for a cold brew and an additional $1.50 for almond milk is steep for a regular-sized coffee. Because my drink would have come out to around $10, I justified buying a bag of their Prologue beans just to get the free drink.Clearly, this is their tactic because the coffee is NOT good. There was almost no flavor so now Im stuck with beans that Ill probably never brew. But on the bright side, I did get a free mug... that Ill probably never use either. Nice!
We were so excited to try out this place but it greatly under delivered. Service wasn’t great, coffee wasn’t great! Maybe our experience was a fluke but I think you’d have better luck elsewhere. The ambience is pretty nice though, so +1 star for that.
Easily the most friendly and inviting coffee shop Ive been to. I never review places like these but this deserves it. They handed everyone free cakes and mugs out of the blue. Great coffee too
Very nice baristas, and I love the mood lighting! Plus its in Pike Place but out of the way enough that you can sit back and relax while taking a break from the surge of humanity that is Pike Place Market. If I lived here, I would make a point to come here to hang out.The free mug is awesome too. 👍🏻
I love Storyville Coffee Company, if I were to live in Seattle, this would definitely be my go-to cafe. Ive never had a bad experience here- the staff is always so wonderful and attentive, the coffee is always above average, and the pastries/cakes always hit the spot. The shop was hard for me to find at first, it is upstairs and the entrance is an unassuming stairway on Pike- usually theres a performer next to it which gathers quite a crowd. Once upstairs, the shop is just straight in the back. The space is beautiful to me - it is open with just a bit of mood lighting, but a ton of natural light during the day. The large windows look out over the Market and to the water. On a sunny day, its quite a scene. This is a great spot to sit down for a few hours and enjoy a slow afternoon reading/writing/drawing alone or catching up with friends. The coffee has always been consistently excellent for me, and the baked goods as well. The staff is always friendly, even after youve ordered and paid. They regularly circle the dining room, clearing tables, cleaning, offering cups of water, and sometimes if youre lucky, offering a slice of their delicious chocolate cake. Ive had many pleasant conversations with the staff, and have never felt more welcome at a coffee shop than here.To me, a great coffee shop is equal parts coffee and ambiance. This is probably my favorite coffee shop in Seattle. On my last visit I think I swung by at least 4 or 5 days out of my 7 days there, and I am looking forward to going back again soon.
Amazing coffee! We ordered an almond milk vanilla latte and almond milk hot chocolate, they were both delicious 😋The inside was very cozy with a great atmosphere, definitely worth the wait in line!!I came all the way from Austin, TX 💖
Exceptional cappuccinos and friendly staff. Very cozy setting with a view.
Shockingly overpriced. We were with a group, so we got coffees here nonetheless. However, a plain cold brew is seven… count ‘em, SEVEN dollars. They charged $2 to add a splash of milk. My 16oz iced vanilla latte with coconut-cashew milk was over $10. That being said, the latte was good. But not $10+ good. $7 for cold brew is crazy-talk. Two cold brews and the aforementioned latte came out to about $30. 😵💫
SUCH a great find! Its right at the Pike Place Market sign (go upstairs!), fantastic coffee and such nice, friendly staff. AND the free gift mug is such a cute, memorable touch. 10/10 highly recommend, well worth the visit!
I would give this place 10 stars if I could. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming and the coffee is DELICIOUS. My boyfriend and I visited Seattle for 5 days and we came here on 4 occasions. Their cold brew lattes are absolutely addicting. I once had two lattes in one sitting because they’re that good. The lounge is very cozy and spacious. As we sat here, passing time before our flight, the staff walked around and passed out free chocolate cake straight out of the oven.THIS is the treasure of Seattle and if you don’t visit while you’re in town, you have likely passed up a wonderful life experience. This coffee shop has been one of my favorite parts of Seattle.
Pros:- Extremely good coffee. Just try it and youll know. Baked goods are also not too be slept on.- Fast and professional service. Nice staff and good vibes.- Atmosphere is great. Comfortable assortment of seating with a nice warm color palette making this place a great impromptu photo op spot.- Location is very central so you get some nice views of the busy streets below. This also makes it easy to stop by while sight seeing.Cons:- Entrance isnt obvious as you must make a few left turns and go up a dubious set of stairs to access- Busy place so seating might be difficult to snag
Amazing latte. It can’t be bad when a cafe uses handmade vanilla. I want to come back real soon. 🥺
We had heard so much about this place. This was our first visit here! Latte with homemade coconut-cashew milk and mocha were simply amazing. And the free mug was such a cute first visit gift, thanks storyville!
YUM!! We visited Storyville Coffee based on the excellent Google ratings, and they are not wrong. We had the latte with house made coconut cashew milk and it was one of the best cups of coffee I’ve had. If you are looking for a great coffee with a non-dairy alternative, this is amazing, and definitely worth the short wait.
The coffee is amazing I love how when you sign up for rewards they give very nice gifts I love it would totally recommend everyone to come here.
Really amazing americano - exactly the way I like it. Great design, service, and they gave us a free slice of chocolate cake to try.Decided not to wait the long line at Starbucks to give this place a shot and am super glad I did! Going to be my go-to in Seattle
I received the most amazing customer service at this coffee shop. The drinks and cookies were delicious.
My favorite coffee I had in Seattle, hands down!!! The Americano was incredibly smooth, and you get a free mug on your first visit. A nice hideaway above Pike Place!
A hidden gem, it was not an easy place to find but it was definitely worth it. The coffee was flavorful and the baristas so nice and outgoing. The menu isn’t overwhelming, they serve only a few drinks but those are made right. Wished the seating area had been open because the view was beautiful. We signed up to their emails and received a free cup(worth $15). There’s a bathroom on that floor that is very clean. It’s definitely a place we will visit again whenever we are in Seattle.
A hidden gem of a coffee shop located in the Pike Place market area; you’ll have to climb some stairs or you can wait for the elevator. Fantastic service, coffee, and good seating space to rest after a busy walk around Pike place. We were quite blown away by the service with the staff bringing us waters and serving everyone around with a consistent and immediate quickness. 👍 they even offered us fresh, warm chocolate cake to go with our drinks! 🥰😱🤗👍 It seems that those around us were either studying, chatting or even enjoying the fireplace too. Also did I mention it has a great view of the Pike Place Sign and waterfront?! Their coffee was tasty with their lattes and cold brews being very invigorating after getting cold 🥶 walking around Pike Place. My girlfriend and I ❤️ed the ambiance & found it to be quite quaint & welcoming. This is a def. visit for anyone reading this review. What’s even cool is if you sign up right now to be on their mailing list and show proof, Storyville will give u a sweet coffee mug too (when I visited on 11/25/2019)!
This is an amazing place. Service was amazing! Nice and quiet atmosphere. They gave us free mugs. The servers walked around and offered everyone a free slice of delicious chocolate cake. Will return, for sure!
The coffee is great and the place its self is so comfy and has a great view. The staff is super friendly and they will even give you a free mug for signing up for their rewards!
Loved this little gem buried deep inside pike place market. Definitely an awesome find. The store design is amazing and the baristas are great. The seating is limited though so plan a to-go. The latte tasted fantastic but I wish they have the same coffee beans to buy. They have other coffee utensils and some coffee beans to take home. There was a line and a wait.
Coffee was good, nothing to die for. The real showstopper was the breakfast sandwich with American cheese. So delicious, crunchy, flavor in every bite. The bacon was thick and crispy, and the waffle sopped up the grease and flavor, providing a nice balance of softness and crispiness. The American cheese was very tasty as well and nothing like Kraft American cheese. I would order this sandwich over and over if I could!
The tastiest coffee that I had tasted my entire life. I am very grateful that I am here in this place. I need to come back because its a good one. I cant wait to visit this place again. I will definitely be going to save their contact number for deliveries as well. Try their desserts and you won’t regret it for sure. Thumbs up!
Good coffee. Even better location. Homeade pastries and cashew milk. Very pricey. $8 average for a latte.
Wonderful friendly and efficient staff as always. Strong coffee. Clean, safe lounge to enjoy your cup in. The roast is a good dark one if you like dark roast.
This place was a highlight during our market experience. EXCELLENT service. So friendly and kind. Their homemade vanilla syrup latte was outstanding as was our Americano. Salted caramel cookie was out of this world! Highly recommend!
Storyville is one of the best and most unique Seattle treats youll ever come across not just for their most amazing in-house made cashew nut milk but their service is unmatched. You may find a line at this location on weekends (on the top floor of the First & Pike building at Pike Place Market), but the wait will be well worth it. I usually get their Chai Latte and Classic Croissant. Ignore the $7 cost because Im confident this will be the smoothest and most perfect chai tea latte youve had. And you wont find a better croissant at the Market even better than Le Panier (which I also enjoy by the way). Just Storyvilles is even better, served warm, on a plate with a choice of their many different spreads. I usually pick the almond butter or raspberry preserves. Both delicious! And I cant stop just now because the service and attention to detail I have rarely met a match to their passion and the invested staff in their customers. If you must, just walk by the original Starbucks from 1971 to take snaps📸, but have your real cup of joe☕ here. Better service, better drinks, better view, better ambiance. I cant wait until their other locations reopen. Its been too long.
A great place to grab some coffee & a breakfast sandwich. The line can get busy, but it usually moves pretty quickly.
You will have gone straight to heaven after drinking this expensive luxurious mocha. I mean emphasis on the expensive but still five stars because you are paying for luxury baby.
Honestly? Great view and coffee. But the mars hill connection is instant nope as soon as I found out. The connection was reported about 7-8 years ago by the Stranger but they didnt really make a convincing case. Can you confirm that even the tenuous ties to Mars Hill and other religious organizations have been severed? Id love to amend my review because I do legitimately like the place (though the lines are stupid long on the weekend)
This coffee shop is everything that a coffee shop should be. The coffee is fresh, delicious, and not overpriced or over-hyped.The baristas are incredibly friendly, down to earth, and provide excellent customer service. The atmosphere is relaxing and one of those places you can feel comfortable taking a load off and enjoy the moment.Whether youre a tourist, local, or just looking for good coffee, I recommend this place.
Overly expensive for pretty basic-tasting coffee (cold brew & latte). Food was decent but lackluster for the price (repeating theme).
One of my favorite cafes in Seattle! Love the ambience of the place and the view is amazing. Love the mug that I got from here for signing up as well!
Possible one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. Perfectly steamed milk, espresso that actually had taste come through and I added a hint of vanilla for sweetness. Thoroughly satisfied. That being said. It is very pricey. Went in with a part of three and with three drinks and a cookie we almost hit $30. It’s expected for the area and didn’t sour the experience.Free mug for first time visitors is pretty cool!
I’ve been to Seattle a few times and I always make is to Storyville for their excellent coffee. This location is particularly nice, somewhat tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Pike Place Market. It’s on the second floor and you’re always greeted with smiling faces and samples of their delicious baked goods. Their breakfast sandwiches are awesome (a little expensive but it’s on par 🤷🏻♂️), all their coffee drinks are super well done. I got a French press this time and it didn’t disappoint.Above all, their service is spectacular. They’re all very nice, bring you waters, and are happy to replace drinks if you’re not satisfied. The interior is gorgeous and calming. Only nit are that some of their tables are rather small so it can be hard finding a seat but that’s the price you pay for going to on of Seattle’s finest coffee spots!
Cool place and great service. Coffee is fantastic and you also get a free gift mug after you check-in with a minimum purchase of 15.
Im from Boston and have lived in DC, San Francisco, Houston and Los Angeles, and traveled extensively around the world. This one beats them all. I love it. Great atmosphere, perfect vibe for chilling, with a beautiful view, beautiful architecture, and of course amazing coffee and pastries. They also came around to offer everyone free chocolate cake. Seriously, just go here already. :)
Awesome coffee shop. If youre not local this place is probably overshadowed by the fact the original Starbucks is a few paces down the street, but once you grab your travel photo, stop by Storyville! Great view from the harbor facing windows.
Very good latte. Breakfast sandwich with pesto is delicious. Friendly service!
Really cool coffee spot! Great indoor seating and good coffee!
Great ambiance, extremely friendly staff, and good coffee options. My only complaint is for an out-of-town guest, I have a difficult time finding this place, so be prepared to get lost a bit if you aren’t familiar with Pike Place.
Coffee was great. Best I had in Seattle. We got a free mug to sign up. And if you bought a bag of coffee a free drink. Its a little hard to find. Easiest to look for signs on the building. Its across from pike place market. Navigation took me to a hallway. Once inside there was an elevator up to the 3rd floor. Its just outside of the elevator.
Everyone needs to visit this coffee shop! You have to walk up the stairs from Pike Place Market, and then you will be greeted by super nice baristas! This was the first coffee shop we visited and it was our favorite in Seattle. If you are new, you get a free mug, and when you buy a bag of beans, you get a complimentary drink! I had the cold brew with the homemade coconut cashew milk and it was very good. Come here if you want to have a good experience with inviting, non pretentious baristas. Austin coffee shops should take some notes from Storyville on how to be more nice lol
Great house made mylk and an awesome cappuccino. Great hangout vibes too!
Go here! Theres tons of coffee places in the market, but the rest dont give you a free mug ($15 normally) just for coming your first time! Very friendly staff, had a great guy with samples telling the story of the place and making sure we knew about the free mugs. Was very busy, but the wait wasnt too long (15 min). Seating available.
Staff is wonderful and so is the coffee.
Seriously one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had. I’m on the constant search for a good cup and I’m pretty picky. Their cortado is exceptional. Last time I was here I got a French Press and it too was exceptional. Great atmosphere and amazing service.
