Best coffee in Seattle. I like the u-district location a little better since its open later but the coffee is still amazing at both. I highly recommend the espresso and milk or their nitro chai if youre not a coffee lover. In the summer they have seasonal specials like Japanese cherry blossom cold brew which is a real treat.

The coffee is worth every bit of the rude customer service! The atmosphere is not very inviting and neither are the staff. When I was waiting in line and asking about what to try, the barista acted like they just wanted me to hurry so I ordered the first thing I saw on the menu. However, the mocha that I enjoyed was arguably the best coffee Ive ever drank and I know my coffee!

I got the oat milk espresso, no sugar, and it was a delight. Initial bitterness, smoothed out to a nice oatmeal flavor profile. Im sure with honey or sugar...you could bring the initial bitterness to heel, but in my opinion it isnt needed, unless you have a sweet tooth. I will have to come back and try other drinks and alternative milks.

We visited this place on our Seattle visit when we were roaming around Pioneer Square. The day was in late April and it was particularly cloudy with lots of rain and cold temperatures. With the sight of Starbucks on almost every intersection, I and my wife decided to try this one out with all the accolades and the good reviews that I have heard. The interior was warm and cozy with the welcoming smell of fresh coffee. We entered 1 hour before closing around 4 pm. We ordered 1 cup of coffee and a hot chocolate. Both were delivered in glass cups. I found the restaurant to be a good coffee spot, however the hot chocolate was a little less sweet than what we are accustomed with. The dark roasted coffee was a little bit extra roasted and had a tangy bitter smell. Overall, I am glad that I tried out the restaurant and on a single visit this place appeared to be a good hangout spot.

The girl ringing me up was nice enough but the guy making my coffee didn’t even acknowledge me when I said thanks and before I left I said thanks again and no one said anything or looked my way. I work in customer service and I just found this really rude and the most basic standard in the service industry never mind basic common courtesy. The coffee is decent but pretty expensive and they used so much foam I pretty much paid for bubbles.

I am one of the snobbiest, Australian coffee drinkers out there, and this was literally the best espresso Ive ever had. How in the world the barristers managed to get so many different tasting notes out of a single espresso, I think were more likely to discover the meaning of life in all honesty. Beautiful nutty, almondy goodness with a stone-fruity sweetness to round it out. Im in love.

Good coffee, especially if youre looking to get away from burnt Starbucks swill (sorry not sorry Starbucks) and their flavored lattes are on the less-sweet side, which I like. However it seems like every so often they go rogue with their milk without saying anything. Ive definitely gotten low-fatand almond milk before despite not asking for them. Not the end of the world but a little disappointing.

Out of all the coffee I’ve tried in the Seattle area, I think this is the best tasting local roaster. I’ve gotten coffee hand brewed here, and have also done their beans on aeropress at home, and it never disappoints. It’s not burnt tasting like the rest of Seattle, it actually has good flavor, and they’re upfront about their coffee being ethically sourced and supporting the livelihood of farmers. You can expect cool beats, some bar seating against the windows, mostly table seating, really hip baristas, and local Seattle coffee that is second to none.

Its interesting... they dont have an extensive menu and you cant get a typical latte or capuccino. But they definitely deserve points for originality. The coffee tasted a lot milkier than Im used to, less of a coffee flavor and more of a warm-milk flavor. I ordered the deconstructed espresso which was... a better idea in practice than reality. It comes in 3 little.. cordial glasses - is that the right word? They recommend you drink from left to right: straight espresso, warm milk, and then a macchiato-like concoction which is a mixture of the previous two.The espresso was unlike anything Ive ever had before, it had an incredibly deep cherry taste. A little too bold and fruity for my personal liking, I am a traditional coffee lover. The warm milk was literally just that - warm milk. I wasnt sure if you were supposed to take a sip of each (one after another) or finish the previous glass before moving onto the next. The drink at the end (the mixed drink) was decent. All in all, it was a novel idea but just too much work and a little too fancy to get a quick caffeine fix.

I want to love this place but I’m a bit upset at the experience I had. The stars are for the overall ambience. I ordered an 8OZ latte which was around 4$. Price is a bit higher but I get it, I’m in DT Seattle. I ask for just a little vanilla (1.5 pumps) and the price hikes all the way up to $5.50 for an 8 OUNCE LATTE. $5.50...... ludicrous pricing for a bitter latte. Not to mention it jumping $1.50 for a pump of vanilla... the worst part is the cashier never even told me he was making the price way more until I put my card in. Slate, you should not be charging $5.50 for an 8oz latte. Just ridiculous.

We all want to get off work but damn I would still show some customer service.

After a long rush hour drive I stopped in here to use the bathroom and get a bite to eat with my morning meds. I tend to need a bit longer to void my waste and this was not considered by the guy working. My actions on the toilet were deemed suspicious and whrn I tried to make light of it the coffee guy implied that he was worried I was doing drugs. I did buy the cookie I needed but I sure wont in the future. There is another cafe around the corner that does not comment on how long it takes me to poop and I will be giving them my custom from now on.I understand that Seattle has a drug problem, but when I make a point of waiting for you to finish chatting up a female customer, point out she forgot her card for you, and clearly tell you that I am ordering but I need the toilet first; Let me poop on peace.

With a virtually empty shop, and not much to do, the barista managed to botch my drink, and neither employee could find the time to leave their conversation to bother wiping down the tables that no one had occupied for a while. At $5 per coffee, one would assume they could put it in the correct glass and serve it on a clean table.
