Saw the good star rating and stopped in for a cappuccino. Servers were prompt and polite. Atmosphere and location were great. I would prefer a slightly lighter roast for the more concentrated espresso drinks, but overall I enjoyed the flavor.Server was confused when I asked for the milk to be steamed to 60 degrees Celsius. Understanding that “modern coffee” strays a bit from tradition, I would still recommend spending 30 minutes to train your new servers on the basic science of properly steaming milk. If you did that and offered 2-3 roast levels on your beans, this would take you solidly into the 5 star territory.

Solid coffee. Tiny space. Minimalistic design. Easy on the eyes.Got a drip Puerto Rico, smooth and caffeinated.

I went to work in the big & beautiful lobby area, but it’s closed to the public now. The cafe itself is not an aesthetic / lively place to work. Music very dim. Croissant was fantastic though. 8 oz oat milk caramel latte grossly overpriced, not a huge fan of the espresso taste. No house made flavors.

Nice employees, but the prices are on the high side. $3.25 for a 12oz black coffee? Not in line with the market at all.

Got a cortado. Nice latte art, smooth steamed milk, balanced drink. The bean was more bitter than I prefer, but that’s a personal preference I guess. Didn’t feel standout in the Seattle scene, but I’ll probably go with coworkers. They have pretty nicely constructed and printed punchcards for loyal customers. However, I don’t wanna carry punchcards around anymore. Most folks with a modern POS can run rewards electronically, and this is much easier to manage as a consumer. I’d recommend this place, and all other coffee shops, to move to this method, especially if you’re already shelling out for nice cards.

I finally found a place where I can enjoy my espresso while sitting next to a roaring fire, in a comfy high backed chair, bathed in natural light, flanked by a waterfall and greenery. Retro coffee gives those of us not lucky enough to work in the beautifully designed new Madison Centre an excuse to enter this oasis while enjoying a very good cup of coffee, and perhaps a gluten-free pastry.

Awesome customer service. Was really fast, even with a line of people constantly coming in the door. Surprising considering the barista had a broken toe and was still able to keep up limping around. Really nice lady. Got an iced espresso, tastes perfect.

Stopped by Retro Cafe to grab Americanos to go. The Renaissance Seattle hotel team located next door recommended it so we gave it a shot. Indeed the coffee was very tasty - I took mine with almond milk - but moreover, Amy the barista was just so sweet and pleasent to talk to!! Not only that, she was responsible for the great 80s music that was playing and which I loved so much!! We ended up having our coffee there :-) Very pretty Cafe. Highly recommend!

I can get decent coffee within a mile, from several places. There is only one place that I can be greeted by a smile and by name. Nicole is “fabulous”. They will make you a great drink but it’s the people that make the difference. Just try it, you won’t be disappointed! Pro tip** if you call her Nic she will already think she knows you.

Close to my hotel (Renaissance) and open early. I tried the macaroon — amazing! — and a triple-shot latte. The beans they use for the espresso pulls are smooth and chocolate, not burnt or bitter at all. Highly recommend.

Truly the best customer service of anywhere Ive ever been... ever?? WAY better than the drip coffee I was planning on getting. Definitely come here!!
