Excellent latte, friendly and fast service, reasonable price...Herkimer Coffee sets a high bar for local coffee chains. There was a short line when I arrived in the morning but it moved very fast as there were three baristas working to handle the crowd and they were very professional in what they do. Definitely appreciate that! This location has several tables inside and a nice corner window with bar stools. Lovely seats outside in the street as well.
Still on my best cold brew/cafe in Seattle journey, but this greenwood Herkimer location is def the top spot so far. Great flavor and balance in their cold brew, and there is something very warm and welcoming about this spot. Service has always been friendly and fast, with genuine (you will read this word often in my reviews, as it is the barometer I use to judge service!) people ready to take care of you!Really happy they are back open for dine in, hope we can keep that up!
A acquaintance suggested this coffee shop to me. Its a perfect spot to sample some of the citys finest coffee, which pairs well with their delectable fare. It has a welcoming atmosphere and a diverse selection of dishes and beverages. Its well-ventilated, and the music playing over the speakers was usually good. This is a must-see coffee shop!
My go to coffee shop. Really good, consistently made coffee, great cold brew, top notch pastries. I buy their roasted beans for pour overs at home. The staff is always super friendly. Also there are usually cute dogs sitting out front.
Herkimer is a verified Seattle treasure. I’ve frequented both the Dexter and this Phinney Ridge location quite a bit and have always found the coffee consistently delicious and the service exemplary (at both locations). Mostly I’ve ordered their espresso in various forms and cold brew and have never regretted it. The staff has great attention to detail, knows their stuff and works hard to deliver a great product. I want to give them high-fives, but there’s a pandemic, so five stars it is. A trip to Herkimer is often the highlight of my day!
Great local coffee company. Has great prices
Good oatmilk latte. Delicious pastries! Big dog out front. Great spot.
I thought this chain was the epitome of coffee atmosphere. The cappuccino I got wasn’t the best: the espresso was okay and the milk was over steamed for oat milk BUT that being said I would still recommend it. The food looked great, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Sometime oat milk can be hard to work with so I would still check this place out! Plus the neighborhood is adorable!
Herkimer is an amazing coffee shop. The coffee is some of my favorite in the whole world. This shop has a local phinney vibe; if you are a visitor just be aware you are not walking into Starbucks. The baristas are top notch, especially Kyle, Janelle, Riley and McKenna although not too chatty. But they make up for it with being fast and efficient MOST days.Love this place and highly recommended.
I’ve been here twice now (after really missing the amazing lattes my now-closed local coffee shop made with Herkimer beans). The first time I was unimpressed and thought I’d just gotten a bad drink. Today was my second time, with a different employee making the drink, and it wasn’t any better. The shots were weak, and they just don’t seem to know that oat milk MUST be shaken before using it each time, or it tastes weird. That being said, they also aren’t using a good quality oat milk, and they are charging more for it that many coffee shops charge for a superior brand. Won’t be back.
As a recent-ish transplant to the PNW, it’s been a joy to try out all of the amazing coffee of the area. That said, Herkimer did not hold up to the hype. I’ve visited this location twice, each time ordering a cappuccino and a cortado (the standard by which I measure most third wave coffee shops’ abilities: can they foam the milk skillfully, wet or dry foam, can I taste the roast of the beans, what’s the flavor profile, etc.) The first time I got a very average cappuccino with a bit more acid. Honestly, I could’ve had the same quality from Starbucks.Knowing ats a local favorite, I have it a second chance a few days ago. Same exact “meh” experience. The staff are all friendly, but their coffees are pretty boring. Disappointing, because I always want more amazing coffee shops to visit. :-(
Seriously the best coffee! The only place that does my classic order, a decaf americano with two inches of streamed almond milk on top, correctly. They do perfectly fluffy foam on top and it’s perfect. Thanks herkimer ❤️
I usually get my bag coffee here and it’s been flawless and so delicious every time (been drinking their bourbon process Colombian) and their roast dates are always *very* recent which is amazing. I usually get an oat milk cortado there and it’s been good each time! Baristas are efficient and friendly and the space is really cute
Awsome coffee and friendly staffs!
Coffee was great however the people working there were quite rude and messed up our order multiple times. They also have their gluten free cookies sitting on top of non-gluten free peanut butter cookies so they are cross contaminated. Avoid their food if you have celiac.
Best lattes in Seattle. Yummy coffee! And dont ignore the bacon infused parmesan scone! It will make your birthday better!
Favorite roaster. proven again and again.
Excellent drinks, snacks, beans, and staff. I’m lucky to live near such a nice coffee shop.
Excellent flavor. Helpful, friendly staff.
My favorite coffee in all of Seattle. Im so happy I found my perfect cup of coffee.
My favorite coffee place in Seattle. The best!!!
Love this spot. Excellent neighborhood hangout with wonderful coffee, pastry, and service!
Good coffee and brilliant interior inside the place. A pretty awesome music selection and delicious desserts. Trust me! You will never be disappointed for sure! Everything I need was provided thats why Ill be giving this coffee shop my 100% satisfaction rating. 5 stars all the way for this wonderful and splendid atmosphere.
I love Herkimer. Their coffee is less expensive and higher quality than comparable coffee shops. They have a chill atmosphere, and their team is friendly and hard working.
A stellar neighborhood coffee shop, been coming here for years. Baristas are great, super cool space to hang out, meet up or work in (pre-covid that is), and the coffee makes for excellent lattes that are smooth with great foam work. Also dig that you can peer into the roasting room and watch them work their roasting magic.
High quality service, product and setting.
Great coffee and atmosphere.
Great coffee, and friendly staff!
Got my cappucino at 5pm while exploring this location and it was the best thing I had that day.. would want to try it again.
Great coffee and friendly staff.
Awesome black currant!
I was stressing out about being in hold with Amazon. The staff was very co passionate and suggested I havr a pastry to ward if Amazon Hell as I called it. Lol.
I visited during COVID sheltering, which, to me, means that I did not order a prepared cup of coffee. My rating is for Herkimers whole roasted beans. If you love rich, flavorful coffee, buy their Ethiopian single origin (Yirgachaffe) beans. I know Im partial to Ethiopians to begin with, and Herkimers was _exactly_ what I was hoping for. At $16.25 for 12 ounces, its certainly more expensive than Herkimers blends, but the richness of flavor is worth every cent I paid.I also purchased Herkimers drip blend, which is a good coffee, I wouldnt object to being served it, but I find it to be unremarkable. When the Ethiopian beans are available, I will have no use for the drip blend. At $13 for 12 ounces, this blend compares favorably to comparable blends from micro roasters that typically cost slightly more. But... why? If you like a complex and pleasant flavor profile, just get their Ethiopian.
My favorite coffee in Seattle.
They always make great coffee drinks. We come back here as much as any other Seattle cafe.
Best coffee in Seattle.
Very nice!! It was a bit chilly baddie, so I had to wear my jacket. They definitely couldve turned the heat up. But the London fog I ordered was fantastic! The customer service was great, the atmosphere and seats were amazing, and the place was really clean. Great location, too.
My favorite beans for espresso 🙏
Price alone is worth 5 stars. Easily the lowest priced local roastery brewing their own beans. Very happy this is my go-to local option. Great staff and ambiance.
They are doing a great job with social distancing efforts and as always the coffee is delicious!
Herkimer coffee has the best decaf around. And somehow I didnt realize until this visit - you can stop and watch them roast! Worry not, caffeine fiends. I have it on good authority that their hand selected and roasted caffeinated brew I some of the best around.
This place was full when we arrived. We tried to stay there for a while, but the music was so loud and not a pleasant one! I had my noise cancelling headphones the whole time and was able to stand it for an hour or so, I dont envy people without the headphones. The staff was ok, tried to teach us where and how to order, which I didnt appreciate as I was just getting a familiar with a menu and wasnt ready to place my order. Unless they change their music choices and turn it down, I wont be back.
Great place.
Really mean staff. One man with dark brown hair to his chin made me feel like a pain when all I wanted was a knife and to know where the napkins were. Maybe he was having a bad day but to treat customers with such disdain really ruined my time there.
Herkimer has a few spots around town and they are always consistently good coffees. Not a ton of food to chose from, but good coffee and thats what it is about right? The artwork in the Greenwood store was awesome. Forgot to ask who it was, but wanted it all!
The best.
Excellent coffee. Awkward service.
First time there, in town visiting, met some friends there that I havent seen in awhile, they suggested it, it was very cozy and has an at home feel
Great place to meet and catch up with friends. Looking forward to coming back with my relatives. The bill was appropriate for the quality.
Herkimer Coffee is worthy of the hype that precedes it. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is perfect for the meal it compliments - nothing too fancy but not dive bar either.
Best. Coffee. Around. Seriously, smooth but full of flavor. I always order an Americano and add a bit of hemp milk and I buy beans for my at home brewing needs. I love the coffee here.
Decent coffee. The two male baristas there on Saturday at roughly 2pm were not very attentive or friendly. Not too good of service.
This is a five star coffee shop in my book. Great coffee, free wifi, cool atmosphere, refills for drip are 45 cents and great pastries.
Great coffee and vibe in the cafe, but Ive never had any luck with nice or engaged baristas. Its like every time you order a coffee they are wondering why youre there ordering coffee. Who knew?!?!? 😵
Very comfortable environment and excellent coffee products you can watch their own roasting process.
One of my favorite coffee shops in seattle. Delicious roast, delightful pastries, what more could you want?
Fantastic taste. Rich coffee flavor.
This is the best coffee in town. Went to all the other shops around area that charged way too much and pretty much served crap coffee. You can taste the quality in their coffee. Cant wait to go again, I come home twice a year and glad to find a great coffee shop. The other shops just flat out suck.
Dirty floor, need sweep every 2 hours and some outlet power is out of order. Need to put out of order signs on each one, if worry about the look sign, then create a nice sweetformal sign with 3 words =]. One employee, need hire more. Employee texting while working. But food and drink are amazing. Seats and tables are not dirty or sticky. =] Nice pictures on the walls. Restroom is nice. =] Need empty trash often, thou. Im still coming for coffee and still reccomend for social time.
The coffee was good and fun, but had trouble getting the barista to describe the coffees to me.
Great classic coffee spot
Coffee was decent - place was calm, but all the two tops were taken by working folks on a Saturday morning. Not my favorite vibe.
Herkimer is the best around. They consistently pull perfect shots of espresso, and provide a wonderful atmosphere for working or catching up on a favorite book. Can’t get enough.
Herkimer is my go to coffee in Seattle. As a native I feel like that says a lot. Dont go asking for anything fancy and just enjoy the unique flavorful roast without any spoilings.
Whats not to like? Great coffee and friendly staff.Nice vibe!
Awesome atmosphere. In a city thats obsessed with coffee, I thought itd be a bit better. Still a great cup of coffee though
Excellent coffe😛😊
Best almond milk latte Ive ever had!
Fantastic coffee! Sparse seating. Great view of the roasting process. Kid friendly.
With all of the coffee options in Seattle, Herkimer is by far my favorite. I no longer live in the Seattle area, but will drive up just to get beans. The smooth chocolaty roast is unsurpassed! Do yourself a favor and go grab a cup!
Consistently delicious espresso and exceptional single origin brew set Herkimer apart from other cafes. A variety of freshly roasted beans in environmentally friendly packaging are always available to take home and enjoy.
Tasty hot chocolate and pastries. Hard to find seating inside on sunday midday. They do have some out door benches, which often has a pack of adorable dogs hanging about.
Great coffee, plenty of comfortable seating, and Cafe Besalu pastries! What more does one need?
Favorite place in Seattle for bring home coffee! Happy people ❣️
Excellent espresso beans. Not overly dark and not super light either. Great atmosphere.
Just visiting from CA. Great coffee. Nice vibe. Croissant were very buttery. Popular local coffee stop.
They have great coffee with a variety of single origin roasts, my favorite coffee roaster in Seattle. Some days you can watch them roasting through a window in the seating area. After 4pm the pastries are discounted. The staff is friendly and it feels like a real neighborhood place.
We endorse the Colombian coffee enjoyed here!-local Colombians
When I lived here, during my doctoral studies, this was the best place for freshly roasted java, and whenever I male it back to Seattle, I find a way to come visit. Its still the best.
Good modern hot spot! Drip coffee is smooth, staff works great together spitting out yummy drinks fast! Thanx!
I really like coffee. These people have excellent coffee. Come get some.
THE espresso triangle of Seattle excellence: beans+machine+baristx finesse&grace.
Among the best coffee shops in Seattle with lovely on-premise dark roast. This location is one of 3 by same team, and this is the home where roasting happens. Highly recommended.
Excellent baked good and great coffee and herbal tea
I get picky with coffee, and in the PNW people have gotten used to the taste of burnt Arabica beans (thanks place that is everywhere that shall not be mentioned). But, I gave this place a shot and was happily surprised that someone can make a good espresso. Only fault I noticed was that the staff was quite dismissive. I realize your busy, but customer service goes a long way to have customers return.
Perfect macchiato everytime. I wake up early every Saturday and Sunday to walk down for a cup of coffee. Service is quick and polite and the regulars are wonderful as well.
Been getting coffee and pastries from Herkimer since the grand opening in 2003- always consistent, always good, always reliable.
Good lattes
