Glad Capitol hill also gets Seattle coffee work. Personally I love this one more than the one in Ballard. I usually oder latte at different shops. Compare this one to Ballard, the latte is not that bitter, and smells great. The store is very clean and bright. Definitely a good place to get a freash morning with high quality coffee.
Probably the worst coffee experience I have had in Seattle. They dont have coffee cream or wifi. They also have weird hours, where they close for 30min at 11:30am. I arrived 15 minutes before 11:30am and got kicked out without even having finished my coffee. I had to throw it out and buy a new one at Vita Coffee. I wish they had told me they were closing soon, so I could have gone somewhere else. Will not be coming back.
The bread is soft and fluffy, and the form of bread is toasted and flaky as well but its still delicious! The staff members were nice, and I have to admit they were young. Im not sure, but they are so youthful and beautiful. The chairs were cozy. Well built and maintained is the bathroom. Im moving back here with my friends again.
Dani is so sweet+ made such a delicious latte, mocha and cappuccino- Cap Coffee Works is incredible because of her!!! Much Gratitude. 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
I love their pour over here, although its a bit pricy compare to other coffee shop but its worth it.
Found this coffee shop through a blog of top Seattle coffee shops. I liked the minimalist look and color palette from pictures I saw so thought I’d check it out.I was greeted kindly when I entered and ordered the macchiato. The barista clarified they craft classic coffee drinks so this macchiato is not like that of Starbucks. I thanked them and let them know I was aware since I had researched them a little beforehand.I sat down and they brought the drink over soon after. It was delicious IMO. Perfect amount of that bitter espresso flavor but smoothed out with the milk froth. Will definitely go back.
Nice place but I did not enjoy the coffee
Thank you very much! The foods, drinks, and even salad that we truly loved was fascinating and highly recommended.
My favorite coffee shop in Capital Hill. The coffee beans are the star of the show. Love that I can get single origin beans for a latte. Ethiopian beans are my favorite and I was able able to get a latte with some. Milk was foamed beautifully. Latte had great texture through the whole drink. Been here quite a few times and every barista has made a great drink.Whip cream here is amazing. They make different kinds all the time. Had the earl grey whip cream & its so delish.Always look forward to getting a good cup of coffee when Im near Capitol Coffee. ☕
Cortado is not on the menu but ask for it and you wont be disappointed !
One of several Coffee Works locations, Capitol stands out with its tall ceilings and natural light. What really topped the experience for me is their transparency in ethical sourcing and focus on giving their employees a living wage. Mad respect for any business that has a passion for treating people well!
The owner is very down to earth and friendly. You have to stop by!
See edit below.Good coffee! I really like their mocha. However, my fiancee ordered the matcha latte with almond milk, and only after paying were we informed that they did not have the matcha powder. We asked for a refund on the matcha latte since we couldnt get one, but cashier failed to refund the full amount. They didnt give us a receipt for the refund so we couldnt see how much she refunded until it hit out bank account. Disappointed by this experience considering we were the only ones at the shop.EDITED 3/22Capitol Coffee followed up on my review, and I have changed my review based on the communication with Capitol Coffee.
Great coffee, great conversations. Ohh and great selection of chocolates too
This is a very chill coffee shop with friendly staff. The coffee is good and its always quiet. Its a great place to hangout and with the summer coming its also a great place to grab some nitro cold brew. I would recommend coming here for sure. Also they dont have tipping because it is just included which I love.
This is my favorite coffee shop in Capitol Hill. Their cappuccinos are delicious. So smooth. The service is kind, and prices are fair for the area.
Nice staff. Cool ambiance
If you want to meet n friend for coffee and a treat or a nice lunch, I can highly recommend this place. Best coffee in town, fresh roasted coffee from all over the world, amazing vibes and fun staff highly recommended.
Friendly baristas + great quality coffee, what more could you want?
They shut down their espresso machine early about ten minutes before close (looks like the machine had been apart for longer) and had no decaf offerings available. Kinda felt like they just didn’t want to make any coffee.
The coffee is quite impressive, at the same level as Vivace. They also have a no tip policy, explained by their socially responsible approach to sourcing and employment. The one drawback is the popularity doesnt mix well with the amount of physical space: seating can be at a premium here, though there is now a second level open.
If you can get in and get a good seat before the place fills up, this is a wonderful cafe to spend time in doing whatever you do at cafes. The coffee and hot chocolate have always been really good, less sugary than you would find at Starbucks. It seems like there’s often only one person on duty, and I’m always amazed how they keep their cool and keep up with orders when things get busy. (I would be so overwhelmed!) They do a great job and it’s a lovely place to be.
Quality whole coffee bean! Tastes way better than Starbucks. Highly recommend the Seattle Space Blend.
This place was really a great cafe! Coffee taste amazing. Nice variety of of teas and snacks, The staff are wonderfully friendly. Definitely highly recommend!
Such a great cafe! A bit cramped if the line has more than two people in it, hard to navigate without bumping into anyone. But despite the line of people, I got my latte quickly and it was absolutely wonderful. I’m from out of town and I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a great local cup of coffee
I love this place! It is small but there is surprisingly a lot of seating and also a loft space for more privacy and quiet. The coffee is good and I had a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie that was divine. I have never had one like it before. Super moist, not too sweet, a good ratio of chocolate chips. I also tried the cáscara soda once which was good and unique. It is on the pricey side for a coffee shop. No tips though. The baristas are friendly and professional. One of them in particular has great taste in music.Update to say that the nice baristas are all gone. Now there are just white men with an air of pretension who rush you to order and dont really answer questions. I brought a friend who wasnt accustomed to all the third wave coffee shop drinks and they were rude with the implication of why dont you know this? The baristas also choose the music and it is not good anymore. Also the cookie I liked isnt there anymore and the muffins and other things Ive tried arent worth getting. I used to like this place but now prefer kaladi bros. They do have a rewards program though that is linked to your phone number but they never have the option to sign up at this location. I signed up at another location.
Great coffee and customer service. Will definitely be back.
Delicious coffee and pastries. I got the Kenya and a molasses cookie and loved them. The atmosphere is so calm and the upper balcony is such a good vantage point. Its great for people watching!
The best espresso on Capitol Hill. The space is beautiful and usually bustling with coffee chats and meetings. Can be tough to find a table for lounging but great for grabbing something to walk around with. The service is patient, calming, and consistent.
If you like/love coffee you MUST visit! This place serves some of the best quality [light roast] coffee on Capitol Hill. Lovely quiet atmosphere inside! Knowledgeable staff that are only too happy to answer questions about brewing coffee.Tip: take a moment to smell the different beans in the glass cylinders before ordering.Bonus, found out you can order their amazing beans from their website.
Love their coffee and their music. Baristas are always friendly. I love that they have The Head and The Heart album cover in their bar.
One of the most consistent good coffee shops in Seattle! Although the quality seems to be going down with years passing by. Still pretty good by comparison.
I love that this place has tiny cups of coffee. Perfect for when I want to drink coffee but dont want to commit to a larger drink. They also have a good selection of teas and high quality matcha.
This is the best place with the best people to take a coffee. I come here when I want to work outside my house and its really great. I relax with a cup of coffee and great music
The entire process of buying a black coffee took ~10 seconds. Incredible. The future is here. It was good too. My friends hot chocolate was incredible tho. Balcony seating was cozy, I’m into it.
This is cool Capitol Hill sister of midtowns Seattle Coffee Works. Its brighter and filled with students for a pleasantly atmosphere. The staff are wonderfully friendly. Two thumbs way up!
Really great cafe! Nice selection of teas and snacks, friendly staff, and loved the light filled space with lots of plants. Came here to get some work done and definitely plan on returning!
Hands down the best tasting coffee I have ever had. The staff takes their time with every step, ensuring your drink is as great as it can be. It is as pleasing to the eyes as to the palate. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to truly enjoy their experience getting a drink .
Great coffee! Best place to read some books. Calm and peaceful
The best coffee shop in Seattle Ive tried so far (a recent transplant). Their drip is great, the roasted beans are really good, and their espresso-based drinks are also generally very good. Not absolutely phenomenal every single time, but the quality averages out to very good in general.Side Note: They carry green coffee beans! Not many shops that do and its great to see one carrying not only nice single-origin beans, but the greens for the home roasters out there.
Just a perfect model of what a urban cafe should be - elegantly spacious atmosphere with a loft for more tables, balanced accents of natural wood and modern minimalist walls, plenty of natural lighting illuminating the whole space. The staff were all courteous and well trained, and extremely service oriented. Latte and coffee blends were rich and sophisticated, as their beans are selectively and ethically sourced. One of my little qualm about most of other cafes these days are the big tip jars sitting prominently at front counters as we customers settle our payments. No matter the quality of the service we receive, it almost feels like we are obligated to tip them! But here at Capital Coffee Works, they DO NOT have tip jars. Along with ethical beans, the cafe ethically shares their sales with their employees, so the tip is already included in the price (Interesting side-note displayed). Now that is what I call fully fair-market ethical cafe!
What a lovely experience! Lovely coffee, yummy breakfast, good quality food and warm atmosphere.
This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Capitol Hill. Good quality coffee and the place is well maintained.
Great coffee, holy cow stops the adenosine right in its tracks!! I wanted it to stop, and it did, thanks to these wonderfully talented people. Make leaf in that latte I said, they were already done making a leaf in it. I said you call that a leaf? They said no, its a Rosetta. had me fooled. Thanks Capitol Coffee Works!
Meh. Giving 2 stars because the interior and atmosphere was nice and maybe my negative experience was an outlier. The person who took my order seemed a bit pretentious when I asked about a tip jar that was noticeably absent, explaining how he preferred to have things like health insurance—leaving me feeling lectured to. He politely thanked me for offering to tip in a condescending tone. The barista who was working the espresso machine complained of it pouring a few bad shots to the guy taking my order. I cant be sure, but my Americano tasted so watery that I suspected it included one of those bad shots.
Visited on a Thursday. I will be back with my friends. Prices are appropriate. I can see why they have a lot of positive reviews.
Very bright and airy place. Good for staying. The price is a bit high (>6 dollars for matcha latte, maybe a special kind?)
Such a lovely spot for sipping wonderful coffee and reading. Their hanging chair is especially my favorite.
Good for pour over/drip coffee, lovely placeThe ambience is the best for me. Lots of natural light. Very white walls, clean lines. I had an espresso here that was sour. Wrong beans or over extracted. This is a good place to work or read.
Same great coffee as Seattle Coffee Works. Cozy spot, but good for setting up a laptop and working for a bit if you can find an empty table. Theyre cards-only, no cash and no tipping.
A lively modern minimalist cafe with indoor and outdoor seating arrangements. Not too many chairs so you may have to grab and go. The brew is top notch so there is no complaint on that front.
Some tables only have stools. Not conducive to relaxing and enjoying coffee. Very limited selection of sweeteners. Coffee though is excellent.
I went with a coffee group on Christmas Eve and I am the least of all V coffee connoisseurs but they all had high opinions of it. Dessert treats were quite good. They also have an unusual coffee and chocolate beverage that is of coffee skin and chocolate that they were out of stock of because they are switching theyre back and works but should be in soon.
The shop is beautiful and everyone is so nice!! This is the smoothest coffee I ever drank in my life!!
This is a nice little coffee shop. Check it out if your in the area...better than the main chains.
Really nice place with good bean and brew selections. Lots of coffee and roasters to choose from in Cap Hill, definitely up there as one of the better ones, but not necessarily my favorite. Girlfriend is obsessed with the Chai Latte here, I got a pour over (Im not sure what bean) but it was good.
Amazing. Service was great, and coffee and food were delicious. Very photogenic place. Only problem is they only take card, no cash.
Coffee and surroundings is notable for running. Staff could be very pleasant with vey reasonable fees.
Really nice baristas, yummy coffee and my partner loved her americano.
Unique approach to coffee. No tipping/living wage, table service and pay after you drink... when its not busy. Great location, tasty brew and friendly staff.
One of my favorite places to escape. The coffee is strong and the pastries are sweet! just how i like it.
The atmosphere is very bright and open and the service was very good. They treat like like a regular even if you arent. Our shots were a little burnt as they got side-tracked with something else but it still tastes good. It can get a little cramped if it is busy, but its pretty roomy compared to other places in the area.
Worst espresso I’ve ever had, but the people were lovely and I stayed a few hours in the really nice atmosphere to do some work.
Ive finally found a perfect place to study that makes a real matcha latte in Seattle!
The best coffee shop on Capital hill, they make the best cappuccino I have ever had and I have had a few. LOL It is a wonderful place to come and sit and have a coffee and and do some work if needed or just enjoy your surroundings.
Cute, light, airy coffee shop with a solid cup of joe. Great working space.
Cozy, good to look at, great drip coffee. 10/12
Great coffee and nice vibe. Lots is open tables and seating.
The atmosphere was great, but the coffee taste not my preference and extremely expensive. The tip is already included in the price. Welcome to Seattle prices!
They made me a delicious iced Aeropress of their Ethiopia Yirgacheffe. It’s extremely fragrant and tastes like drinkin a blueberry, my favorite. They price so that you don’t have to tip which is cool. They had Bobs Burgers characters drawn on the cups which I love 😍 Sitting in the balcony area is incredible cause you get to watch the baristas making coffee. The overall vibe and aesthetic is absolutely gorgeous.
I love this coffee and I love the staff. This place is my go-to every morning and afternoon while I’m at work. I look forward to chatting with the staff and the coffee is fantastic.
Great vibe, very chill. The coffee is delicious.
Wi-Fi, air conditioned and very welcoming. Delicious coffee and friendly service. Highly recommend getting a beverage here. They will not take cash at all, so be ready to pay with your credit card or some sort of mobile payment service. Small shop, but awesome place to hangout and enjoy a cup or two. 👍
Very good coffee, but a chocolate croissant for$5.50 is a bit too much.
Excellent single-origin coffee beans and great lattes. A nice place to sit on a couch and enjoy your drink with friends.
Delicious coffee (no Sugarbucks cavity shakes). Emphasis on quality without being pretentious. Cool mural on the wall and tastefully decorated. Friendly staff.
