Stay away from this pathetic place. Barista didnt let me sit down and have a coffee without a proof of vacation. Screw you and your shop. Enjoy starring at flies at that place. Im having a great breakfast in a very friendly coffee shop around the corner.
Super friendly staff and good coffee. Ive always had to wait in line but it moves pretty quickly. The prices are steep but I prefer it to the Starbucks next door. Good ambiance, a nice place to sit and people watch, either indoors or outdoors.
Quintessential Seattle coffee with strong coffee and indie rock music in the background. We went around 4:30 PM on a Saturday and it was quite full. Lots of people on their laptops, a few socializing - creating a more studios, work-oriented atmosphere. The Cappuccino was decent, much less milk than other local shops, but it was still ok. With several options close-by, I wouldnt rank this the top choice, but its a good choice overall.
I like the taste of their coffee. The ambiance was also great, very comfy. I would definitely come again, and I recommend it to everyone. Thank you so much for your good heart in serving customers.
The first coffeeshop/cafes that didn’t demand exorbitant amount of tip for making me pick up my coffee/food and clean after myself :) business should not rip customers off in the name of tips, they should just pay their staff well!
One of my favorite coffee spots in Ballard. Cool and friendly staff and great tasting coffee! Also I love outside seating, best people watching spot in Ballard!
No Wifi? Unfortunately that is still a key element of any coffee shop. Otherwise you are a coffee stand, not a coffeeshop. Hoping your Wifi comes back soon so I can fully experience your shop.
Great local place offering a wide selection of coffees and teas. Very friendly, clean, and cozy!
Ordered 16oz dark mocha with 2 extra shots of espresso.Done well, but tastes like there is not much coffee and lots of milk and sweets.Wouldnt recommend it for coffee lovers.
Best coffee beans in town we think, and weve probably tried 20+. Always a new, different flavor selection.
First cafe I’ve ever been to WITHOUT wifi. They ask you to use the wifi from the Starbucks across the street…which forces people to huddle together near the window to catch a signal.
This is a great coffee shop with very good service. However, I drink my coffee black and I am very particular in the taste, Unfortunately, the coffee was not to my liking, and hence the rating. Probably most other people would have liked it.
A nice patio with a good view of other people’s dogs.
Great coffee, comfortable space, and I love that there is no tipping because they raised prices to pay their staff a living wage.
Great service and coffee. This morning I ordered the featured roast displayed on the counter. After a couple minutes of waiting the barista told me that she was going to re-make my americano after dialing in the machine so that it tasted great and showcased the beans/roast properly. It is excellent!
Great every time.Baristas are always friendly and willing to converse about the coffees they offer.Little pricey, but worth it!
Great espresso. Offers a rotating single origin offer for espresso, which is served with a sparkling water chaser. Good quality beverages, with a lot of attention to grain selection. Good moka made with dark chocolate. The brew bars allows you to get coffee brewed from aeropress, chemex, vacuum pot and kalita methods. They also offer 2 beers and 1 cider. Dog friendly spot
I cant wait to go back!
Decent coffee and biscuit, but why is there no wifi???
Good sitting area with benches facing the farmers market. Sunday is a good day to visit the place. The view outside is amazing.
Very good coffee drinks, whole bean to go, and all with no tips.
I got a drip coffee and it was disgusting. I threw it out and went next door to Starbucks.
We were thankful for the waitresss assistance. The workers exuded confidence, a smile, and determination.
Great coffee, well prepared! No indoor seating yet but great outdoor seating. 😊
Cold brew is pretty good, 4/5 stars. The shop itself is lovely with large windows and the barista was very nice. They have an outdoor seating area out front.
Chill place to have a coffee. Tip free cafe.
Great quality coffee from people who take the time to ensure it is sourced ethically and in partnership with fair trade/wage growers. Broad selection of brews served by nice people.
WOW. I ordered espresso macchiato and received an actual espresso macchiato. It was perfection.
Great coffee great service great everything!
Lackluster and overpriced. Baristas dont know what theyre doing and it shows.
Anything Ive had here has been so great and the baristas are awesome!
Only giving this place a two because holy moly the prices are ridiculous! Went in there for a sandwich and bough two. I brought in 14 in cash and thought that would be enough. Nope!! It was over 16 dollars for two measley sandwiches. Thought about giving it a 1 since what the hell are they thinking? The sandwich was ok but not for basically airport prices. What a crock :/. Couldnt even get a drink if I wanted too, had to pay on card! So lame :/ pictures attached of 8.95 sandwich 😲😂👎
Friendly staff and good coffee.
What an amazing place.
I really enjoy Ballard Coffee works because they have very good coffee and they pay their staff a living wage. They are always pleasant and efficient.
Same great coffee as their other locations.
Best latte ever had. No tipping. Thanks for paying your staff well.
A great company with great coffee. A ballard staple.
Best coffee in Seattle, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ive been coming here for nearly a decade!
Friendly staff and really good drinks.
Great coffee, food, and service. One of the best places around to camp out with a laptop and drink coffee/have a snack. The quiche is wonderful; try it.Seating is hard to find during some parts of the day...but what can you expect, it’s just that nice in here.
Very yummy coffee. The espresso is well dialed in and the milk wasn’t to hot or to warm (perfect). A chill vibe and honest employees with a great mission working with coffee farmers
Great, friendly service
I really like this place. Has a key location. A nice railing outside to sit and people watch on. They dont take tips, which is a weird breath of fresh air. Their coffee is great, the decor inside is well-done, and the staff are friendly. Van be a long line on weekends, but moves pretty fast. Worth the wait, if there is one.
This place is pretty neat with nice seating along the street.
Great coffee, nice atmosphere. If your at the farmers market, stop in and grab a cup of coffee and warm up. They have an incredible selection of coffee. You can have your coffee made for you in any fashion. They are quick in service but dont sacrifice in quality and are always friendly.
Fresh and tasty coffee were served here.
Wow this place is popular! Crazy busy this Sunday morning, and I can see why; the coffee is really yummy (and this is coming from a usually non coffee drinker) and the blueberry scone was one of the best Ive had. Definitely recommend this place. :)
The barista was friendly, good costumer service.
Perfection. I wish every latte were this worthy.
Ive been there several times before and always liked it. The coffee is great and the staff is friendly. I just got a quick iced Americano while waiting for friends. Id recommend Ballard Coffee Works to all coffee lovers.
Great spot for great coffee. Can get busy and loud, so if you cant work in that environment take note. With that said, also a great place to meet friends and easily feel like you can talk without disturbing everyone else.Added benefit: they train future baristas while paying them a living wage and source their beans ethically. You can even read about it in their annual sustainability report thats on display in the cafe.
I wish I came here in college more often as its a much better vibe than your typical Starbucks and a much friendlier, calming environment if you need to study. I loved the decor and the presentation of all things coffee. Got a latte and enjoyed lounging on the couch while sipping on it. I do wish the place was bigger though.
The Baristas were so friendly, but not in a patronizing way. Expect to pay a little more as it is on the pricey side. The atmosphere was calm yet lively, it seems like a place where people come to get work done. Decor was modern yet homey. Overall a great experience, plus my mocha was done just right.
I love this place, great food and coffee. They have TONS of seating and free WiFi to use.Its a super cozy atmosphere with pillows and warm lighting.Great spot for studying or a meeting. Since they have so much space, I feel like they wouldnt mind people staying a while.Kid and family friendly, play area for kids and high chairs.
Quality coffee and at a not too noisy and comfortable cafe. Great place to bring a book and hang out!
The staff is super friendly and always give me a warm welcome. They are professional and well-trained. The coffee is amazing too. I love that they are paid a professional wage instead of taking tips.
What a great place! Plenty of seating, from the coffee bar to little booths to cozy armchairs. Not too noisy on a weeknight. My cappuccino was a work of art and tasted perfect. And the best part was the super enthusiastic guy behind the counter just radiating positive energy.
Was great!
Great coffee and good atmosphere for working. The tables are a little cramped, but its a business so thats no big deal. Terrific location.
You know, its funny, I came here the first week I was in Seattle two years ago. Since then I could never remember that first coffee place I went to. I even worked in Ballard the first year and half I lived here. Decided to come here today and a flood of memories came rushing back.I love this place. Its in a great location, has plenty of staying with warm, low light and excellent coffee. Highly recommend as your first specialty coffee experience. I said goodbye to Starbucks a long time ago, (I know, I live in Seattle), but I can never go back. Im in love with small business cafes. Now that I remember this place is here I will definitely return!
I went there today with my dad and ordered a large hot chocolate, but when I took a sip of it, it didnt taste like chocolate. At first I thought it was just because of the cream that was on top, but after leaving and walking home I still couldnt taste chocolate. It tasted more like hot milk n cream. Maybe it was the way they make it or cause I had just eaten a double scoop of chocolate ice cream. I dont know. I would go back again, but I hope the hot chocolate has more of the chocolate I was hoping for.
Great coffee, atmosphere, and staff! It does get a bit crowded at times and table seating (especially with a plug) can be limited. They also don’t do tips, which I greatly prefer - I’d rather pay a bit more for my coffee and have this money translated to employee wages.Updating this review 10/15/18: I went there the other day and dogs are no longer allowed. While I understand that this decision is secondary to the city of Seattle’s rules for food establishments, there are other shops that still allow dogs and I will take most of my business elsewhere. The employee was nice enough about it but it’s still unfortunate.
Cosy coffee. Local community coffee shop with a chill atmosphere. Looking forward to spending more time in here.
Tristan is AMAZING. Best cold brew Ive ever had! Solid vibe to meet with friends or get work done. Location is great and the atmosphere gives way to many productive work sessions. WiFi isn’t fast but it’s also not too slow. Prepare accordingly
Came in for a latte and a bite, but turned and left as there was an unpleasant odor in the place. I guess its the vinegar or fermentation process or their kombucha? Ordered a double latte and a croissant. Cost $10 after tax. The latte was barely warm and contained no more than one shot of espresso. I paid extra for political correctness and got a tolerable croissant. Three dollars later I added a shot of espresso from another place. Very PC but Im not impressed. I donate privately to causes of choice.
Excellent coffee, some of the best in Seattle. They have a wide variety of brewing methods, and are one of the few places with single origin cold brew. They have a great selection of bags to take home, good food, and non coffee beverages. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the staff are all well versed and friendly. Most Seattlelites already know about this place, but if you dont it is definitely worth your time.
I would go here if every other coffee place in Ballard was closed, but otherwise I avoid it. It’s overpriced and not very good. On a good day the coffee is mediocre but still not worth the extra dollar you’d pay over the nearby shops, and they charge $11 for two slices of bread with a couple cold cuts and cheese between them. Best part is they aren’t labeled so you don’t find this out until you’ve waited in line. They used to carry the same things as other shops I frequent, but charged $3-4 more. The atmosphere is alright though, and if they charged reasonable prices or had better coffee for the prices now I’d likely go there occasionally.
I stopped here to escape the heat and grab a quick cup before heading on my way. I wasnt overly impressed with this place. It smelled awful, it was hot, the place wasnt the cleanest, and I think that impacted my opinion of the coffee itself. The place was packed though, so Im hoping I llwas just there on a rough day. When I travel, coffee is my thing, and I would say this was probably my least favorite place I visited, sadly.
I like their coffee very much. Market Street has lot of good coffee house, and this is my favorite one.
Great coffee, great service.
One of my favorite coffee shops in Seattle. The chai latte is by far my favorite, and the staff is always sweet and accommodating. Ive also had a business meeting here and a room is available to be reserved. I have made frequent trips here since discovering this gem. Parking can be a challenge, but I can usually find something if I circle the block once.
I find reasons to come here. The staff, drinks, atmosphere, music are all wonderful.Whether youre meeting up with a friend or working on your laptop, Ballard Coffee Works is an ideal place to do it.They have plenty of outlets to charge your devices. The baristas are friendly, fast, and they KNOW what theyre doing.
I like this place. Good coffee and good vegan brownies. The Wi-Fi is fast and reliable and its pretty quiet. A good work or meeting space.
This is the Ballard location for Seattle Coffee works. They sell premium coffee, espresso and tea drinks. Coffee is always good, but it can get pretty warm inside and seating isnt always easy to come by. Stop by if you are in the area, but might be best to get coffee to go.
Delicious beer on tap and great coffee drinks to be had here. Great service and big cafe with plenty of work space. Although I didnt eat, their pastry case looked quite good.
