I LOVE this place! Not only is everything here delicious, but the staff is amazing. Once or twice I bought a cut of meat that Ive never cooked before and both times the butchers were able to give me some great advice and it turned out perfectly! Two of my favorite items here include their candied smoked salmon (YUM!) and anything in their kalbi marinade. But really everything here is good. I tell everyone to go here. Wonderful place!
Friendly staffs! Great place for all your meats 🍤 🍖
They shared advice on what to get, had quick service and were vet polite, and their meat all looks top quality for a reasonable price connoisseur to some downtown Seattle butchers. Definitely would return.
This place is amazing! Super fresh, good service and really good prices for fresh meat. Plus they have a frozen area with other items not available fresh. Worth the trip!
I’ve been purchasing B&E meats for about 20 years! It’s my go to place for special occasions, holidays or the occasional bbq. It’s all about top quality and consistency. 5+ stars for this amazing place! Their marinated meats are out of this world delicious and there is No WAY you will be disappointed, let alone your guests - guaranteed. Remember you get what you pay for yum, yum! I highly recommend teriyaki tri-tip, boneless kalbi beef and prime rib(seasoned of course).
I like to support local businesses, and I almost never post reviews. However, after having given this place THREE tries before posting this review, I feel compelled to warn people about what to expect. In all three visits I have been met with rude and condescending service. Even on the two visits where I asked literally zero questions, I just stated what I wanted, I was still met with huffy comments and attitude.Additionally, on my last visit, an employee was unmasked.Their meat is fine. A choice steak is a choice steak, though, and if Im going to pay a hefty premium to go to a butcher I expect customer service. Going forward Ill just pick up my meat from Ballard Market or Costco where Ill pay 20-50% less and wont have to put up with your staff for the privilege.
Amazing service, it was my first time at a butcher so I had no idea what to expect lol. Nathan was so friendly and helpful, he aided me in finding exactly what I needed. I will definitely be back!
Great quality. I suggest the salmon candy. Delish!
The quality of their meat was truly exceptional. I was impressed. You get what you pay for, truly. Ill definitely be coming back now that I know what they have to offer.
We have been going here since they opened. There is a great selection of cuts, including more unusual ones that are available frozen. They have been adding even more in recent weeks, including American Wagyu rib cap, which is phenomenal! Highly qualified and friendly staff, too.
Love this place, a solid butcher shop with a great selection of meats and seafood and knowledgeable butchers. Very helpful getting me the right products for my Thanksgiving menu.
Just started going here a few months ago, been 3 or 4 times. Been very happy with the selection and quality of everything Ive ordered.
RUDE/AGGRESSIVE SERVICEI called the store to check if they had grass fed beef bones and spoke with a guy named John. John said they carried the bones and I told him Id be in later that afternoon. When me and my gf went in, John was helping another customer, and told the other guy there (early forties guy) to help us out. Other guy was extremely rude, impatient and aggressive the entire time for no apparent reason. Other guy said they didnt carry the bones and would have to special order them. The entire time, other guy spoke to us in a condescending and aggressive manner. (SIDE NOTE: My girlfriend and both have advanced degrees, Im an avid hunter and an Iraq war Vet. Were not that oblivious couple you might see meandering around the butchershop asking clueless questions). In any event, despite other guys offensive demeanor, we decided to order the bones (shouldve walked out by this point, but was still giving other guy the benefit of the doubt). Other guy became extremely disgruntled when we asked if they could hold some of the bones in the house should we make a large order. Apparently this was the dumbest question other guy ever received, because he went on a tirade about how they werent a store house. So....we ordered 10 pounds of bones and got the hell out of there. After we walked out, I asked my gf what that was all about, wondering if I missed something? After discussion, we came to the same conclusion, other guy lacks any, if all interpersonal skills, and was more than likely born an A$$Hole.I still have no idea what this guys deal was. At the beginning, I chalked it up to him having a bad day or a simple lack of patience for anyone after years of dealing with redundant questions. Either way, other guy clearly doesnt grasp the fact their business depends on customers, and when you treat them like garbage, they will write scathing reviews about their experience, resulting in potential loss of business. This is the second review Ive written in my life, I hope that provides context for how insulting of an experience this was. John seemed like a nice enough guy over the phone, so, apologies to him for this review. Other guy however is definitely a persona non grata. Avoid if possible.
I love this place, especially the New York cuts and Salmon
One of the best home steaks I have had in awhile. Marbling was exceptional.
Some great service and stellar beef.
The shop is amazing, I was like a kid in a candy store. Larry is the guy that helped us an he was very friendly and knew his stuff... definitely going to be coming back soon...
Beautiful steaks! Cut right in front of me. A little pricy, though. I inquired about pork belly and they only had it frozen. My ramen suffered for it.
Very wide variety of products, but a little spendy. Few to no humanely sourced, local, or organic/grass-fed products. (I did see grass-fed ground beef and a selection of wild caught fish there.) On the Saturday that I visited, there were several samples of their meat and seafood products to taste. Overall, definitely worth a visit do try something new.
My family has bought our Christmas roast and sausages here for 33 years. I cant believe they are gone. Anyone recommend somewhere else to start a new tradition? Not looking for a glitzy butcher, but a butcher that respects and knows good meat.
After a first visit I am not sure what the high ratings are all about. When I go to any Whole Foods (not my first choice) the folks behind the counter love to talk about where the meat is sourced, long it aged, the different grades, and they usually have a good selection of cuts of beef. I went to B&E in hopes of a wider range of cuts and knowledgable butchers. Price wouldnt have mattered. What I found were fewer choices and an indifferent guy working the counter. Was he even a butcher? Doubtful. When asked the difference between two options he merely stated, ones prime the other is choice. Labels had nothing as to source, aging or feed. Butcher had nothing to add.Next.
Great butcher! Excellent selection, fantastic customer service. Cant wait to visit again. Try the candied salmon!
Awesome spot. This is where I regularly buy our meat. The quality is terrific, as is the selection. I cant believe I can walk here!
Great service and selection. They did a great job filling in for long term occupant A&J ....love the local butcher! Support them!
What a HUGE LOSS for Seattle. They had the best prime rib I was ever able to purchase ANYWHERE. Hope they have a suggestion of where to purchase the best beef in Seattle now that they are closed. :-(
The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Meat is fresh and high quality. They also offer a good selection of seasonings, mustards, rolls, and other accompaniments.
Great service and local selections. I prefer this local butcher for their veal.
Definitely not closed. Got a great steak and jerky there the other day.
A&Js has some of the best meats in the area, and seriously makes the best beef jerky that Ive ever tasted. Worth the drive across town!
Great local butcher shop. No cellophane/plastic trays here!
Cuban Pork Roast! So very amazing
The best Tri Tip I have ever eaten
Really good beef jerky, and great customer service! People are always willing to talk to you about their products.
The meat is fresh, good cuts and the customer service is excellent. The price is high but the quality is worth it.
Good quality fresh meats. We love their steaks and little breakfast sausages.
Knowledgeable with great product and service. What more do you want?
The best butcher in the entire seattle area!
This is the estabalishment youve been looking for ! They provide primo products WITH primo service, no kidding. Having frequented this wonderful store and been continually impressed with the outstanding quality of all their wares for over 30 years (yep, I remember the building of the smoke house), I know how fortunate we Seattle and surrounding city dwellers are to have them in our midst. I now live two hours S and still visit them several times each year. The holiday sausage is a MUST have every Christmas morning - too good to describe ! Many thanks to Rick and his terrific staff !
Very nice butcher shop, enjoy buying our meat here.
My nearest butcher. Great service and quality meats.
The jerky and smoked salmon are fantastic.
Staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. Their beef jerky is hands down the freshest and tastiest beef jerky.
Delicious meats, very helpful staff.
I come here multiple times a week. One of the perks of living on top of the hill!
Great selection, friendly staff, clean and welcoming shop.
The only place go to for corned beef and hams in town.
