Textbooks have been moved to second floor. Staff will help students get their books(they wont let you get your own). Be prepared for longer wait times during peak hours. Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Good place to get supplies for school. Not the cheapest, but when you really need something, they are well stocked. Convenient location. Easy to find.
The people are friendly and very helpful I got my girlfriend a new hat that I hope said I think she likes
Great place for U-Dub swag. Very crowded when I was there. Pricing of the swag is on par with other places with souvenirs but well worth it. Highly recommended!
Security was doing a great job of watching the place, making sure nothing funky going on. Also super helpful in helping me find my destination. Theyve been doing remodels/reconstruction for several years so it can get a bit confusing. Nonetheless, I was in and out with my goods within 5min!
It was gameday, so it was packed. But, the selection was good. Sizes were gone in some items, but we got there at 5pm. Lines moved fast though.
Its a large university book store with lots of book selection and UW souvenirs (mugs, t-shirts, flags, hoodies, etc.). For students, you can order your course materials ahead and pick them up at the second floor. The staffs there are very nice too. Its lovely just even just walking around checking stuffs in the store.
Crowded but a great experience. Logo wear priced higher than expected but worth it. Highly recommended!
One of the last great bookstores in Seattle--and even it has cut down on the amount of space given over to books. I love the art supplies/stationary section, too.
Ordered online a few days ago and called ahead of time to let the store know my friend would be picking it up for me. when my friend picked it up the woman working was hostile and short with her, and gave her sass about how i should have called beforehand. impressive lack of communication and attitude for something that doesn’t really matter at all.
Wish they had a larger selection of hoodies and zip up sweat shirts.
The oldest bookstore I have visited. It has a great section for children’s book.
The UW Bookstore has tons of journals, books, pens and pencils, backpacks, and like any other art or drawing supplies you need. They didn’t have any good spiral-bound graph paper notebooks :/ Other than that though, great store!
Glad to have it be back open. Helpful friendly staff.
Terrific!! I wanted a new hat from/of the University and they had it. They had a large selection and I was able to choose.
Good selection, less than it used to be, but the staff are great!
Great book store with parking in back. The store is well laid out and has a coffee shop. The staff is also super friendly!!
Great selection good service. Some things on the pricey side
Great service and help! Got all materials needed.
A great bookstore is a treasure. University Book Store is a beautiful space with great staff in the vibrant UW Ave neighborhood. It will be even better when the light rail station opens nearby.
Still one of the best college bookstores I have ever been to
Love getting art supplies here !
East walk from campus, we were visiting the university and walked here to pick up UW merchandise. They had much more than expected, a very friendly and helpful staff, and clean restrooms.
Large selection, helpful staff, lots of extra goodies for art and drawing as well as all kinds of books
The stores selection has shrunk of late due to necessity, cash flow, and staff, I assume; which is a bummer. Still very happy to support this local gem of a shop. Indie books make my heart happy! Also glad for their selection of pens and drawing compasses... Thanks!
Great store with plenty of UW goodies and supplies. Good selection of books.
Amazing customer service and selection!
SPENT way too much but apparently needed it all. :-)DD will be first year in fall and had to gear up the rest of the family. Store has everything you think of from course supplies to shot glasses.
Despite the fact that our original checkout experience was very enjoyable, the UW Bookstore is plagued by predatory buyback policies that prey upon unsuspecting students. We purchased a book that was “required” for a course for over $200 dollars new (used was not offered) and the book is not used by the course. The receipt we got from the bookstore said we had 30 days to deal with returns and that was it.Come to find within 30 days that that return policy does *not* apply to books, despite the fact that we purchased only books and that the receipt did not indicate any different policy or return criteria. We were then informed that you only have 14 days from the beginning of classes to return books (instead of 30?) in order to prevent students from returning books after they have gotten through most of a quarters and no longer need them.16 extra days is not most of the quarter. This is absolutely predatory and obviously designed to prey upon unsuspecting students. It would have been nice to have been informed of this 14 day policy when we purchased the books. We will absolutely never shop at the university bookstore again and will be purchasing our next 3 and a half years worth of books elsewhere.
Randy, went out if his way to help me in personally walking me to the areas where I needed to go. He also had suggestions that were if great help. Without his assistance I most likely would have become frustrated and left. I got exactly what I wanted and paid what was in my budget. Thank you Randy !
I love shopping for my Husky gear and buying gear for my grandkids who I hope are future Huskies!
Friendly staff, relaxing environment in the coffee shop
Great for UW and Seattle souvenirs, and nice selection of art supplies
Wow great store... great service...all the Dawg Gear you could ever want🐺💜
Needed materials for a winter break art project with the kids and was disappointed to find U Books shut. But no problem- ordered online and they got my order to me at the pickup window in 10 minutes flat. Great customer service.
Good selection of books with really good prices.
Always treated great!
Wonderful staff: helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
Great collection of UW merchandise.
The place to go for Huskies gear. Staff is super friendly. They close at 4pm during the week.
The staff is always so warm and inviting! I love the selection and I appreciate that the store cares about cleanliness during covid!
Nice pen section, but I dont buy books in stores much anymore, plus the layouts all funky, less inviting for non-students.AND theyve closed the bathrooms permanently!!Great felt pens, very little else.
Had complimentary gloves for browsing covid safely!! Also public restrooms!!
I cannot say enough about the ease of purchase and speed of shipping. I ordered the book on Tuesday and received it on Wednesday. This place is amazing, and I will definitely be ordering from them again.
An extremely well stocked and wonderful book store. This has everything I would imagine a quintessential book store to have:1. Novels2. Stationery, paint and office supplies3. Cafe4. Board games5. [Bonus] University swagAll in all a very warm and nice place to visit on a weekend
I have many fond memories of this store.
Great bookstore. Love the staff pics
I traveled to the Bookstore (from Stanwood) to stock up on Husky gear, only to find it closed on a Saturday due to the pandemic. They were, however, open for pickup. I went online and chose a few items that said “available today”, and placed my order. I waited about an hour, then checked in at the pickup area. They said since they had over 500 orders pending, it wouldn’t be ready today. I told them I would have to cancel the order since it would not be feasible to come back to pickup. Matthew and Nick decided that they would personally go pull the order and 5 minutes later I had my items. I totally would have understood if they had not been willing to do that, and I really appreciate their customer service. I have spent thousands of dollars at the store over the years (they didn’t know that), and I will continue to do so, since my son is an incoming freshman. Kudos, Matthew and Nick!
People are so nice there.
Everything under the sun for your student and yes there are books here too!
They have variety of merchandize you could choose. They organized their shelves very well. Plus the staff are friendly and accommodating.
Huge selection, fun to browse, good place to pick up Holiday cards and little gifts.
Huge! Its so refreshing in this day and age to see an actual brick and mortar bookstore doing well. A place where you can hold the literature in your hands and smell that new book smell. So satisfying. They do a lot of live read events here, too. Also, great little cafe, a huge Huskies retail store where you can purchase logo items to show your support/spirit. Even has an actual US Bank branch on the second floor.
This is still the best bookstore in the city but it has lost some of its shine. They have turned to a more consumer/logo based operation. The various book divisions have shrunk or been eliminated completely. They have also cut back on their author events and other in store events. You can still find just about anything you desire you may just have to order it. Still worth a visit and if you want Husky gear this is the place.
I Love this place for Books, Art and all sorts of Cool Knickknacks! 🙂
Beautiful campus
Neat place to go and look around. You could definitely find some unique gifts here. Book selection is decent. The coffee here is so/so. I wouldnt go out of my way to stop for a coffee, but if I was already walking through, I would stop here again.
Great bookstore for variety of books from history to novels, from tech books to classics. They have great bargain section where you can buy pretty recent books for a very cheap amount.Coffee house inside is a great plus, they make delicious latte, strongly recommended. Also gift shop is another plus, where you can buy chocolate as well.
Placed an online order and picked up in person. Staff were very busy, understandingly, but very courteous and polite.
Pricey, but good collection
The u-dub bookstore is always a wonderful place to go! Make sure you give yourself plenty of time though because you will want an hour to walk around and look at all the great Husky gear and Northwest items that are locally made and books and office & school supplies. And the staff is always extremely friendly and helpful!
Great place for books or anything to do with school.
Love this place! If you want art supplies this is absolutely a great place to shop. From inexpensive to extravagant, youll find it. Fantastic book section too. Many books are signed by the author. Ive shopped here my whole life and I can definitely say its a favorite place to go!
M not sure why people expect to find obscure books in such a small bookstore, however it works well for picking up some fun reads. They put out a great selection of new and interesting books and have a coffee shop to read in. There is also free wireless from 6-9pm. There may not be much atmosphere but the books and coffee make up for it.Go around lunchtime and get the spring rolls and an iced tea. Perfect.
Awesome as always. Great book selection. Stairs should have tape at the bottom of the stairwell to avoid going all the way to the top to find out that the second floor is cordoned off.
Possibly the best bookstore within the Seattle-Tacoma area!!! On hthis visit I was searching for childrens books for birthdays: a 10 yr old budding astrophysicist, & twin 5 yr olds, one fascinated with foxes, the other giraffes. The reference staff could not have been more helpful or more knowledgeable, & I ended with a treasure of books that were perfect. But beyond the help of the staff was the very apparent love for what they do. They live & love books, & the people who read them, & its a wonderful experience even for browsers. The fact that the place is a vast warren of specialty areas means I could happily spend days there, exploring. Have lunch at a nearby cafe & spend the day!
Limited hours due to covid, check the website. Curbside pickup worked great though
Ok place if you are a parent or rich kid buying some overpriced UW swag, or you need to pick up some school supplies. Most of the books are always out of stock and arent really cheaper than if you bought them from other online stores.
I had placed an online order and on the day I was planning on picking up the books, the school notified me of a change. I was able to work with the staff to make necessary changes and get the correct books that were needed for class that was the next day.
As far as book stores go; This is the place to go and get lost in, if you want to. So much to read and see and buy. The childrens selection is crazy big too.
Nice bookstore that does what it needs to do. Helpful and friendly staff. Maybe only negative is that the last time I visited, the public restrooms were occupied by housing challenged gentlemen who were using the restrooms to shave and sponge bathe... Not a big deal in the grand scope of things, but the stalls were occupied for a looong time before they were free.
Good bookstore
Great way to spend an afternoon and buy a book from a local spot. The coffee shop in the back is delicious and theyve always had the books Im looking for! I actually come in more often than not becuase they have a great collection of locally made cards that are my go to for birthdays anniversaries and everything in between
A great selection of books, as well as UW gear. You can grab coffee at the cafe or pick up some small gifts (stationary, socks, candles, etc). I know they frequently have author events, so check their website for those!
Great store. EVERYTHING you could need for art or organization tasks. I have never gone there for a college textbook, but they seem to have a lot of that as well. Good items and fair prices!
Came here to explore and ride bikes in the area, this is one of the auto-select destinations when you search in the university campus
Ive been going to the University Bookstore for the last twenty years at various times. I hadnt been there in a while, and I was disappointed to find it very diminished from its former glory. Upstairs was closed off, selection wasnt even close to what it was years ago. That said, it is still a decent bookstore. There is a deep, if not wide selection on some topics, and youll find things you wont see in a tropical Barnes & Noble. The art department downstairs is still quite nice, the whole staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Just overall not the store it was.
Big store for books and university souvenirs. Don’t see many big book stores these days so it’s nice to browse in one. Employees were helpful and friendly.
Great variety.
Unique gifts. Great greeting cards. Perfect gifts for your HUSKY fan! Nice art supplies section. Find specialty pens from Cross, Parker, Retro 51. Great selection of INKS for your fountain pens. Books, new, used, great selection.
A treasure trove of books, magazines, clothing and souvenirs. Im never disappointed when going shopping here. Staff members are usually friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the merchandise in the store. Parking in the lots behind the store is free, provided you ask them to validate your card with your purchase.
I call and a real person answers. Not a phone tree. She is friendly and truly interested in helping me. Crazy huh?
Its really pretty here. the fashion they have on display is interesting too. auto discount for uw students. Its not a place you can ship things from. and also, if youre a student, recommend buying books online, picking up at online store. otherwise 2 hr wait first day. you can always return them.
The textbook I went there for was not in stock. Went to see about diploma frames. They have six on display but none in stock. No books and no frames. ☹️
Great atmosphere and lots of UW merch, will come again!
I would give this place 5 stars if it werent for the inflated prices and their bad bad habit of following around anybody who doesnt look like theyre rich and preppy. God forbid you are a poor white male with tattoos and you go in there cuz you will be followed and harassed non-stop with can I help you, may I help you, can I help you find something, every three freaking minutes to the point to where theyre just annoying you to get you out of there I believe. Other than that its a jolly good time.
I love this bookstore full of great books and other treasures. I can always find good gifts and have them wrap them year around. Parking is easy and free with any purchase (up to 2hrs) and great children’s book corner with sitting area to read. Dogs are welcome too. We also love the technology center and usually purchase apple products here and skip the line from the Apple store.
A decent bookstore with all the things youre r̶e̶q̶u̶i̶r̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶b̶u̶y̶ gonna need for school. It can be a bit difficult to find what youre looking for but the staff does provide some assistance. However, it is very common to find out that theyre sold out of things youre looking for. The collection of books is fairly large and its a one-stop shop for all your Husky gear. They also have a technology section filled with useless junk you would not want, but they do deal Apple products if you have an immediate demand for a Macbook or something.
