I love this place, maybe because this charming book shop helped me rediscover my love for reading!Mercer Street Books caught my eye as I was waiting for the signal at the Mercer St, Queen Anne Ave N intersection. The shop just looked inviting. And I finally went in recently and browsed through the many options here! There was enjoyable music playing; quiet except for a few minutes where a group of customers were excited about the books (can’t really complain, though) πŸ™‚. The collections for Mystery and Fiction are large, sections on Romance and Science Fiction are quite decent and then there are an assortment of other genres and some interesting finds stacked among them. Many of the books are second hand, but the books are in good conditions. I grabbed a couple of books on a whim and ended up reading through one of them the same day! They sell, buy and trade books. If you’re a book lover or looking to discover the joys of reading, visit here!

Fantastic place to find books as gifts, to fill in gaps in your collection, or just to read. Great selection of modern lit, with some nice signed copies sprinkled throughout. The owner has encyclopedic knowledge of whats on the shelves, and makes solid recommendations on what your next favorite book will probably be.

Adorable little shop. Fair prices, especially when the 50’ cart is outside! Owner is very friendly and nice to chat with. Definitely worth a visit when youre in the neighborhood.Edit 8/31/18: Im so sad for the loss of Mercer Street Books owner, Debbie. She was a kind soul who created such a warm, inviting space. I will miss her, as will her family, staff, and other repeat customers.🌻

Literally so obsessed with this place, I always make a stop when Im in the city, even if its out of my way. Love all the nooks and secret rooms of books this place has. They seriously must have every book. I also love getting their grab bag of greeting cards. 3 cards for $5 and you dont know what youre gonna get. Love it!

I find it difficult to pass up a bookstore, especially a used bookstore. Mercer Street was no exception. But it was a stop well worth it!If you judge a good used bookstore to be one with lots of mixed and crowded shelves, youll be sorely disappointed here. Not only is it neat and presentable, YOU HAVE A GOOD CHANCE OF LOCATING WHAT YOU NEED, or at least clearly determining that they dont have it.

Store Opens @ 11AM which is a bit late for my tastes, but is still a convenient pop-in location for anytime of the day. Prices are extremely fair, and the stock rotated pretty quickly too. I’ve made the mistake of deferring for a day, (spending-check/habit) only to find the book sold. Oh well! Check often.

BEST bookstore in Seattle. Anyone who loves a unique, utterly curated selection of new and vintage books at great prices needs to go here. What a beautiful store as well! Very clean, organized, smells great, and the details are adorable. Plants, themed book ends, custom pencils that are FREE. I love this place. And if you love reading, you will too.

Ive recently rediscovered my love of reading, and one of the reasons was this bookstore. Its not particularly large, nor is the selection as diverse as a library, but Ive found a lot of sci-fi, fantasy and history books here. It looks like new books are added pretty often too. Theyre all in good condition. I havent seen any book with visible damage or more than superficial wear and tear. Overall, Im happy to have this nearby to keep feeding my book addiction.

Great selection and fabulous prices on both used and remainder books (Im not sure if I fully understand remainder sections at smaller book stores - are these left overs? or maybe just bulk orders at a great price from the manufacturer). Also, the store runs lots of readings and such.

Beautiful bookstore. I had emailed in advance about selling a bunch of books and the employee replied. She told me that since I had so many books to sell to take pictures of the spine and email them back and she would be able to tell me which books they were interested in without me dragging all my books there. Amazingly easy and I dont know why I hadnt thought about that sooner... Thanks!!

I love this little secondhand bookstore. I found it several months ago, and Ive been buying books ever since. Im the type of person that prefers reading books on paper, rather than ebooks, but books can be rather expensive if you buy them new. This is a great solution for me! I come maybe once a month to check out the books. Staff is always very friendly.

Favorite book store in all of Seattle. It feels like a nice private library inside, and I like the staff, who are helpful and witty. This bookstore focuses on quality--nice editions, publishing houses, etc. Go for the skillful curation, not that blockbuster action novel your uncle told you about. I usually go in for classic French or Russian lit but end up leaving with a stack of other books as well!
