I saw reviews of this bookstore before I came to Seattle but couldn’t remember the name when I got there and was disappointed that I was going to miss out. Happened to accidentally come to it anyway, and I knew I was there because of the owner, David! Hilarious, sweet, and a lover of books. Definitely stop by & support a great local business. He’ll make you smile :)

Such a charming little bookstore. The owner is so friendly and full of character! Lots of science fiction books, but also has childrens books, history and other genres. Look what I got for under $6! Shouldve gotten more!

The store is incredibly cute to walk through and they have a ton of great selections from newer books to older ones. The owner is probably the best part of the store though. He is funny, charismatic, and had my sister and I laughing out of the store. He really makes the atmosphere of that store and I wish him all the best.

A great bookstore on the floor below the main floor of Pike Place. Although its a little small and selection is a bit limited, there are still plenty of great books to choose from and theyre cheap too. The star of the bookstore (other than the signed Shel Silverstein book) is the owner. Hes incredibly friendly, makes great jokes, and serenades his customers with funny songs. I would go back to the store just because of him. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

Incredibly quaint and friendly atmosphere in a bustling area of Seattle. The owner is absolutely hilarious, I felt like I should have paid admission just to go in the store. He is very knowledgeable and helpful in finding what you need, either in his store or to point you in the right direction. I was grateful for the experience and plan to return.😁

I’ve never had so much fun in a bookstore!! David is so knowledgeable, kind, and funny. I had a Shel Silverstein book in my hand and he said, “you read a line and I’ll read a line.” From across the room from each other we did, he recited every line from memory, with enthusiasm.Don’t miss this book store. A great selection of books and a welcoming atmosphere. The best aspect of this store, without a doubt, is the owner. Hes amazing. He has plenty of book recommendations and is a really cool person to talk to. Very outgoing and funny and he loves to sing.

I love bookstores. I can spend hours looking at those lovely shelves of books- promise of wisdom, learning and insight.But this lovely dignified, authentic and honest bookstore beats them all. There is a sense of reverence for knowledge here, without the pretentiousness of the intelligentsia.

An incredibly wonderful & magical bookstore!!! The owner (David) was SO sweet, friendly, & funny!! He sang a song to me, made sure my best friend & I had everything we needed, & I was able to get books by one of my favorite authors, Tamora Pierce. Such an amazing experience & one of the best finds weve made! :)

Its a really cool book store. The most interesting thing about this book store is the guy who runs it. He is has puppets, some post cards that people have written to him from all over the world. And the books are just $1.75. I highly recommend it

I am currently the temp bookseller here for the month of September while David, the store caretaker, is taking a well deserved break with his family. This bookstore is very unique and is filled with used and new books hand picked by David along with his various collection of antiques, postcards, and puppets. Truly a must stop destination for book-lovers and novelty-seekers. The staff is friendly and conversation about anything and everything is very much encouraged!

Bookkeeper was very informative and has a passion to sing. Wonderful selection of books at a good price. :)

Oh my goodness, what an awesome place! Stacks of gorgeous books in a combination of new and used..but what makes the visit worth it is David. His knowledge of books and his fun outgoing personality made me want to stay for longer, even though we were just there to pick up a book on our way to the airport!

Love this spot! LOTS of books of all genres to look through that will surely peak your interest. A nice little escape from the hustle and bustle found on the street level. Excellent customer service thats super friendly. Highly recommended!

There are plants of good books to choose from here but the real treasure is the owner. Hes obviously passionate about books and is thrilled to chat with anybody about literature, sci fi, childrens books, anything. He sings, quotes poetry, just a charming lovely person. I asked for a recommendation from an author that would be similar to one of his other books and the store owner was able to give ne a couple good suggestions. Definitely worth a stop.

I didnt spend a while lot of time here because I had my kiddo with me, but the selection seemed good, lots of old classics! But what really stood out was the service! The man behind the counter was undeniably friendly and charming. I could spend hours talking to him about books! Ill definitely visit again next time Im at the market.

This is my favorite books store, hands down. Almost everytime Ive visited, the owner has been working. The way he greets and interacts with people, I cant help but smile. His knowledge of books is vast. The few times ive been by and the owner was gone, the staff here have been just as attentive and helpful. I will always go here first when looking for a new book to read.

One of the best bookstores around, great selection of remaindered books, but the worst staff. They must tell their employees to leave their berets and cigarette holders in the break room. The judgement just oozes across the checkout counter.

Loved the personal feel as owner greeted everyone with something interesting or even singing. He recited a Shell Silversteins poem as I browsed the store.

They got books, they got a few other things and they most certainly have that Cambridge arrogance going. Theyre doing you a favor by letting you breathe their air, know that. If you can weather the looks of sheer scorn you get dagger-ed at you when you ask for something, engage them at all you can find some nice things here.

Great selection and super friendly staff. One of the last great book stores left anywhere. Always look forward to my visits there.

Five stars for customer service and selection. Vonnegut on the counter, Philip K. Dick prominently displayed, and for the littles The Gas We Pass and Baby Quantum Physics. Clearly the owner knows both classics and trends. Ill be back.

Cute bookstore, we picked out a couple of kids books. The man working (owner maybe) was friendly and funny.

Possibly the most beautiful bookstore ever--the huge selection of books is of course great but the owner, David, is probably the friendliest, chattiest, funniest and most helpful person Ive ever met in my entire life. Spending an afternoon here just browsing the books and chatting on and off with David is probably one of the most relaxing things you can do when youre in the city.

The guy behind the register.... hes fabulous!! I could hide behind a stack of books and listen to him all day.

I used to live in the neighborhood and it was my favorite place to be. They have such a great selection and the staff is always friendly and welcoming.

One of my all-time favorite bookstores, but you must love art and architecture-related subjects to really appreciate this store. My husband is eternally resigned to the fact that I spend several hours at Hennessey & Ingalls whenever we go there.

The owner is dishonest and disrespectful to his customers. He sells his books at close to cover price but the condition indicates that the book has been used many times over. He has little knowledge of the books that hes selling, all the while treating the customers who come into his store badly by being rude and obnoxous. The overall experience of shopping here has left a very bad tast in my mouth. A warning to all book buyers dont go here.

He doesnt mind that guests read his books in the store. This collection is very rich. Those who want to find treasure can go and see 唷
