I brought my tohatsu 8hp engine in for carb cleaning and service with my friend, both with decades of experience boating in the northwest, but limited time with careers and kids. I picked it up and they said everything is running great. I put the engine back on my sailboat and tried to start it and it wouldn’t start. I called them up and they claimed everything was working great under their conditions, so we took apart the carb and cleaned it and guess what it started right up. If you are going to claim to be a boat mechanic and can’t diagnose and clean something as simple as a carburetor well what does that make you? My guess is they didn’t bother starting it up, but i’ll never use them again...
Bought a Tohatsu 50 remote from Sorensen a couple of years ago. I now have about 200 hours on the install and am very happy with both the motor and the install. Tim mostly followed my non standard install instructions and where he did not his experience showed and everything works nicely. I would definitely buy from Sorensen again. Thanks Tim!
Tim Sorensen is the most effective person to answer your boating needs. His work is incredibly thorough and excellent. As a Boat Wright he would be chosen by his peers to teach Master Classes in outboard problem diagnoses and repair. He made my prized 16’ tug a far better boat by elegantly problem solving steering, engine mounting and electrical areas that benefited from his great wealth of experience.Trust in his rock solid, reasonable priced work!I honestly believe it would be impossible to work with any Boat Wright better than Tim.There is a saying used amongMaine lobsterman I know, “ None Better “. This fits Tim Sorensen.Bob Reinach
I highly recommend this place to everyone. Ive had my runabout since 1987 and have been to a couple different shops in the northwest. Once I found this place I vowed I would never go anywhere other than Sorensen Marine. Tim is easy to talk to and will take the time to walk you through possible scenarios to whatever may be wrong with your boat. Depending on your ability to fix things yourself you can choose to have him make the repairs or he can give you enough detail to fix the problem yourself and sell you every part you need. I spent 2 hours at his shop and left with not only a fully operational boat but a brain full of tips and know how for other future projects (winterizing, tilt installation, installing a bank battery). He works hard to keep peoples boats running efficiently and running for as long as possible. While I dont want to go back to fix any new issues on my boat soon, I look forward to the next time I can talk engines with Tim. He is reliable and dependable and worth every penny. He truly gives me peace of mind after leaving his shop.Thank you Tim.
I owned and ran my 10 foot Sorenson in the Queen Charlotte Straits for nearly 20 years. The little boat was very capable in rough seas and with a 15 hp 2 cycle or 9.9 hp 4 cycle it would plane and do about 12 knots. The boat served me very well as dingy to my trawler.
Very nice service there. Had my dads Evinrude 20HP motor serviced there a couple of times. Very friendly and they have nice new Tahatsu gas motors for sale there.
They have always taken care of my little outboard motor since when I bought it from them. Busy shop, but Ill continue to support them.
They have always been great with me
Great service. Tuneup lasted three years now.
