Was misquoted about the price of the service for diagnosis and repairs for my ac. They did a fair job about making up for it and trying to make me feel comfortable so we continued with the repairs. The ac works now and even provided receipts for the parts that were installed upon my request. If it wasnt for the miscommunications it would have been 5 star service.

My 4-Runner is 30 years old, and most repair shops wont even touch it. This was my first visit to West Seattle Auto Works. The on-line appointment was easy to make and I received an immediate response. I was kept informed throughout the day via text and email, and when I wanted to speak to someone I was immediately accommodated. I felt the complete inspection was thorough, and the recommendations were excellent. They even pointed out the age of my tires and recommended replacement even though they would not be providing the service. I received excellent service and value, and we will now be taking all of our vehicles here.

Thought we needed a new starter.After extensive diagnosis they couldn’t recreate the same problem, though they found oil was overfilled, do drained and replaced. For sure thought we’d be paying for a few hours, but Total bill was only $85.Car now starts and runs great with no problem.They could have easily charged us $300+ And replaced with starter we didn’t really need.Never going anywhere else for car service!

This week marks my second positive experience at West Seattle Autoworks- which can be a rarity with repair shops. I have always received helpful explanations without any condescension and have only been charged for/sold on truly needed repairs. Tech Chris in particular went above and beyond in customer service on the last visit, checking to make sure my vehicle was safe for an upcoming road trip. I definitely recommend them.

Pre-sale inspection - they got the truck in on short notice and wrote up a thorough report. Im counting the $ I spent as an investment in getting a better vehicle than the one they looked at; if you read the report carefully you can also learn a lot about what to look for on your own if youre looking to buy a particular model. Id feel great about bringing a vehicle here for service based on my initial experience.

Did great work - a bit pricey, but the work was super thorough, performed check engine light diagnosis, identified the issue, explained it thoroughly and performed all the repairs quickly and efficiently. Kept communication daily via text based on what was happening! Came highly recommended and I second that recommendation!

After paying for a diagnostic I was given a laundry list of engines codes and was told I was not allowed to speak to my mechanic, that the mechanics don’t speak with customers because they are too busy.Maybe some people are okay with buying $1000+ worth of parts and labor without being able to ask any questions, but I don’t feel comfortable with this.*edit* Now they’ve responded to this review expressing empathy that I’m frustrated about my cars condition...if they actually read what I’m saying they would realize I’m frustrated the mechanic wouldn’t take 5 minutes out of their day to answer my questions, not so much the state of my vehicle. It’s an old car I’m used to it having issues, I’m not used to a repair shop flat out refusing to let me talk to the mechanic.

They were clear in the explanation of the issue, had great communication throughout, and even held onto my car for a few extra days when I was out of town. The price for repair was incredibly fair as well. I will continue to use this location for my servicing needs in the future.

Azia was super helpful, made me feel confident I knew what was wrong with my car, and what I could expect to spend, and even explained why I didn’t need the more expensive services that I’ve been told my high m-mileage car needed by other shops.We already loved West Seattle Autoworks for how awesome they were with my partner’s car, and now we won’t be going anywhere else for either vehicle.

They tried to take advantage of & over charge me. They wanted $600 just to diagnose my car. Then they made me pay $100 so I could get my car back after they did no work nothing to it whatsoever. They staff there was extremely friendly tho I will give thrm that. The lady working the front desk was super friendly & helpful & the mechanics were very nice as well.

Probably the most disappointing experience Ive had getting work done on my vehicle. When I asked valid questions about the work, parts and cost, I was talked down to and made to feel inadequate. The markup on parts was the highest Ive seen, about comparable to dealership rates. Unclear communication left me without access to my car for two days despite finished repairs. First and last time here after moving away from my neighborhood shop - Ill just make the effort to commute to a business I can trust next time.

I was hugely impressed with West Seattle Autoworkss professionalism, and with their customer service. I did a poor job of planning for our inspection, and I realized that I wasnt going to be available when it was finished. Rahel at the front desk stayed in communication with my wife and me throughout the day to figure out how one of us could pick the car up. The inspection itself was quick, thorough, and great reassurance for a car that we had just bought. Ill absolutely be coming back!

These guys were totally awesome. My wife and I had been road tripping for 3 months till we had our first vehicle issue. I found this shop through some reviews and could not have found a better place.After some initial testing, it turned out that the problem lay in a factory reset related to our electronic key fob. They were honest with us that it was not something they could work on and directed us to the best dealership to assist.Considering that we were living out of our car and had a timeline to our next stop, they worked with us on leaving our car there while we rented a car to get to our next stop. We were able to have our car towed without being there. Not only that but they also let us store our bikes in their office even though it took up space. After our key fob was fixed by the dealership, we swung by to pick up our bikes exactly where we left them in their office. Everyone was so nice and they were very communicative and attentive.Although we do not live in the Seattle area, we are extremely grateful that this shop exists and would highly recommend them to anyone in search of friendly and honest mechanics.Keep up the great work!

I went to WSA to get an oil change for my car today. As usual, they did their job right and they were informative on what theyve observed, what could be fixed, etc. There was, however, a minor issue.After I delivered my car to the shop at about 11am, they called me at around 11:47am to inform me of their initial assessment, and confirm my request for oil change. I waited in a nearby laundromat for two hours before heading back to the shop, only to find out that they hadnt even started the process. The front desk lady told me that the workers will soon be back from lunch and it should be done in a couple more hours.I understand that WSA is a busy workshop, but it wouldve been helpful to let customer know on their first phone contact on how many people were in line, or should the potential wait time exceed 3 hours. I also feel that the shop shouldve contacted me the moment they realize they couldnt start till after lunch (which was around 2pm), that way I could change my schedule accordingly, and make a decision on whether I should continue waiting or come on another day. I had a bank meeting scheduled in the afternoon, which I couldve attended via a bus had I known itd take 3 hours before the shop even see to my car.No harm was done. We all have busy days and it cant be helped, so itd be extra helpful if we keep both sides informed. I definitely shouldve mentioned my meeting, because thatd at least give the shop an incentive to discuss the wait time.

Just went in for an oil change, service was fast and friendly. I felt comfortable w/ the mechanics. I feel they gave me honest feedback and opinions. Werent just trying to squeeze me for money. I have had bad experiences lately w/ several different shops. I will definitely return for any other service needs.

Great shop! I took my new-to-me-but-very-old Landcruiser for a checkup at WS Autoworks. Got the cheapest oil change Ive ever had that I actually trust, and they communicated a few other issues and gave me upfront pricing on what it would cost. Additionally, they gave me a few suggestions on maintenance that are easy to do myself, without padding their bill on easy things like air filters or replacing belts that dont need replacing yet. Theyve earned my trust and will be my go-to mechanics going forward!

Unfortunately, they had to deliver some bad news about my 1990 Mercedes: basically, that it was my choice of dumping (more) heaps of money into the car, or perhaps letting it help other 500SLs live longer, happier lives by becoming an “organ donor.” They were friendly, prompt and professional in diagnosing and delivering the bad news, then helpful and patient in getting an auto recycler (Absolute German) to come pick it up. Although I hope that in the future I’ll be there under more favorable circumstances, I do look forward to doing business with West Seattle Autoworks!

Eric and the mechanic (didnt catch his name) were really thorough with taking care of a few different things that needed fixing on my 1972 GMC pickup. I was really happy with their work and the truck is running better than ever. I highly recommend their shop and am so glad they are in my neighborhood.

My 2015 Prius overheated on the way up to Seattle in a snowstorm. it had done that once before due to some air in the system from a bad oil change and of course the Toyota dealership suggested that i replace the water pump to fix the problem. Nathan and the great team at W Seattle Autoworks did an amazing job of diagnosing that the overheating was most likely due to snow and slush getting in the engine and mucking things up. they drove it around a bunch to try to get it to overheat again (it never did). they were super honest and instead of making an easy $1000 (yes thats how much it would have cost to replace the pump), they said just to keep an eye on it and not to worry as everything seemed to work just fine. they charged me just half an hour labor and it was totally worth it for the peace of mind. very grateful for them! honest and competent mechanics are few and far between these days so keep up the good work!

Brought my old Land rover in for an adjustment since they did such a fabulous job rebuilding it last year. They inspected it, adjusted the mix, the timing, took it out for a spin with me (HUGE IMPROVEMENT) and didnt charge me since it was under their warranty from last year! I was fully prepared to pay, but they just sent me on my way.Really helpful, didnt try to up-sell me anything, informative and good work. I will keep going back!

Brought my car in to replace some parts related to the broken dipstick and dipstick tube. Seemed sort of a rare occurrence to me but it turns out that it is common for my car. Chris was great and the work was completed without an issue and well within the amounts predicted, and I even received a call at noon that my car was fully fixed, oil change was completed and it was ready to be picked up. And, my prior experience with them was similar. So I am two for two!! How does that happen?

I called in today to see if they can do a wheel bearing for 1980 chevy truck on my front right wheel. A woman answered and she said they are unable to do that job and if they do consider doing that job I would have to go in and they would have to interview me because they only do classic cars on a case-by-case basis.. I havent ran into a shop that cant do a wheel bearing on a 1980 Chevy truck and this shop seems to be too good for it and has to interview me to earn my business. If you have anything pre 1989 I suggest dont even bother going here or calling them

Ive been going to West Seattle Autoworks for over five years, and they keep my car in good shape. Knowledgeable, friendly people who do a good work and are good at explaining what has been done to my car and what might need to be done in the future. I am always consulted if anything unexpected is found and they get my go ahead before the work is done. Very happy with West Seattle Autoworks would recommend them to anyone.

My check engine light went on at 11:30PM, which put me in a bit of a panic. I drove into WS Autoworks the next day and within 5 minutes, he was able to calm my fears and tell me exactly what the problem was. I made an appointment and when I brought my car in they did the repairs without trying to convince me that the car needed anything else (contrary to my experience at other shops). The charges were reasonable, the help was friendly and efficient! They are my first choice for auto repair!

The entire crew here are personable and friendly. I trust them to do all of the work on my vehicles. While no one likes spending money on auto repairs and maintenance it happens. They back up all of their work and I cant think of a single complaint after years of bringing them my business.

They are great. Sorted out all my problems. They looked at low cost options to fix my fuel tank issues first, but did the big job in the end. The fact they bothered to try the free/low cost options first does credit to them.

I cannot thank Chris and his team at West Seattle Autoworks enough. I usually take my Honda in for oil changes, but recently, my AC stopped working. I dreaded an expensive repair, but I still mentioned it to Chris in passing while in the neighborhood. He told me to bring my car over right away because he believed it was an easy fix. My AC was fixed in 5 minutes and he didnt even charge me! I am so thankful to have these guys in my neighborhood, they really care about their customers!

The guys at West Seattle Autoworks are great! The mechanism that rolls-up my window failed and when I brought into the repair shop just before closing they were able to get the window rolled-up and taped in place before the rain came. I then brought it back the next day once they had the replacement part and they finished the repair quickly. They are one of the few mechanics who communicate clearly on how much repairs will cost and how long they will need your car.

Great team of trustworthy guys. Had them check out a used car we were going to buy. They know their stuff. The car has been going great and now we just see them for our regular oil changes!

Went in for a clutch change. They charged me a very competitive price, I ended up paying LESS than the quoted cost. I dont typically like others working on my car, but WSA did a fantastic job and Ill be taking my car there for any repair/maintenance it needs going forward. Neighborhood shop with friendly staff that I trust who are always willing to answer questions for me. I drove in 10 minutes before closing this past Friday after everyone else had left. Jesse still took the time to answer my questions and never appeared irritated. They are super busy so plan in advance for your routine maintenance appointments or if something comes up last minute just know youll more than likely need to leave your vehicle with them.

I have trusted Todd & Chris with our families autos for 10 years. Consummate professionals who estimate accurately and always do the right thing. Fair pricing and great communication. I highly recommend WSA.

I’ve brought my BMW here twice now for maintenance, both times returned quickly and with great service from a very kind staff. Only complaint, this most recent visit my actual cost was over $300 more expensive than my estimate, a little disappointing but will happily return in the future.

I live in Duvall, and my car broke down a few miles from this shop on a sunday and they were closed. AAA sent a tow truck and basically recommended this shop. I was all ok and went with it since (I learned later) a main pulley broke off, which caused my power steering, my water pump, and alternator to all go out! My car wasnt going anywhere...I got a call first thing in the morning to confirm. From there, the service I got was done at an extremely fair price before the AAA discount, and was done in a quick and timely manner with quality made in the USA parts and I picked it up on Tuesday.I could of got it Monday, but I chose to avoid afternoon traffic at that time and wait. All that being said, I REALLY WISH they were closer to where I lived, because most places around here cost a lot more. My thanks to West Seattle Autoworks! I would recommend this place to family and friends, and if by chance I need service again if I am in that area. They will be the first ones I will take my car to.

Everything from the scheduling to drop off, call back and pick up was great! With a massive snow dump the night before, Jesse and his team were all at the shop ready to go when I called to confirm my appointment. I was pleased to find my Corolla was in great shape after the CVI walkthrough, but I had lingering concerns about the breaks due to some grinding noises my wife had mentioned the week prior. Jesse mentioned the pads still had plenty left, but he noticed a little rust on the rotors. Not a huge concern, but it could be the reason for the grinding. Either way he was happy to take a closer look for us. With nothing new to report back after inspecting the brakes I picked up my car and was on my way. I would most definitely recommend West Seattle Autoworks to anyone, with ANY car, in West Seattle. Everyone I met there is courteous, professional and you get a comforting sense that youre working with people who are going to take great care of your car.

Honestly, one of the most disappointing shops in Seattle. Got an estimate on a brake job that turned out far more expensive than I was quoted. Excuse? Well these brakes are an upgrade from your old ones. I asked for the brand and model #. The guy brought me a box that wasnt even the right one for the brakes I was charged for. Locking hubs were so packed full of grease that they didnt lock/unlock cleanly.I shouldve learned, but I figured maybe b/c some time had passed the shop tightened up the reigns. Nope, just changed tactics. Got a quote for a clutch replacement that was so suspect (sliding labor wage depending on vehicle, parts grossly overpriced, etc.), I feel sorry for folks getting taken by this neighborhood mechanic. Please, do a little research before settling on Seattle Autoworks—they clearly dont work for you.

Not real sure how far their knowledge base goes as far as actually applying it. Be very mindful about their pricing, however. It is a real shame when a professional shop tries to take advantage of their customers knowledge on repair vs real cost and try to double charge their work by simply calling it something else. Dont let these guys or any other mechanic snow you on the details. Know enough for yourself so they dont tack on extra charges to your invoice. They also did an estimate for us. A timing issue turned into a complete over haul wanting over $3k? I call BS. Take your business elsewhere and save money!
