Karl is amazing and his crew is excellent. Karl is honest to a fault, fair in all things, creative with solutions, and nice to boot. When several places (including dealers) said our engine needed to be replaced, Karl had an idea for how to resuscitate the engine (cheaply) and it worked! He fits us into his busy schedule when it’s urgent. His advice is impeccable, which sometimes means spending more and sometimes means spend less, or do nothing.

Didnt charge me and arm & a leg just to plug it into the computer for diagnostics.. and the job ended up being a little less than originally quoted which speaks to integrity. REALLY appreciate this!!! I recently took my car into the dealership to get an oil change (free with the purchase of my used car) and told them my check engine light was on. The dealer told me it would be $250 to plug it into the diagnostic machine. Lake City was fairly priced and did the job quick. They are super friendly too!!! Highly recommend!

They replaced my parents VW jetta wagon air filter and cabin filter. My parents purchased both filters on their own. they charged 140 for replacing both filters. i went on youtube watched video. it literally takes 5 mins replace each one. seriously? i dont know if this is rip off. your call

I have been coming to Lake City for 3.5 years and have been extremely satisfied with the people, the work, and the pricing. Driving an old car can be a little nerve wracking so I visit Lake City annually for them to check that everything is working correctly. They always do a very thorough diagnosis, explain the issue, and give me the options moving forward. They are professional and fair. I will continue to bring my car because every time I leave their shop, I feel confident that they have taken care of everything and I’m going to be safe on the road.

Dropped my car off in the morning for clutch slave cylinder issue, had it back same day. Mechanic (Greg, I believe) was honest, didn’t try to sell me anything unnecessary. Told him I just wanted the thing to be drivable again and he made that happen very quickly.

We have been taking our vehicles to Lake City Autoworks for years. We most recently needed work done on our Subaru Forester. We had taken the car to the Subaru dealership twice, but were still having issues. Karl and the team quickly diagnosed a leaking gasket and a few other issues and fixed everything quickly. They perform high quality work with exceptional professionalism and deliver great value. Highly recommend Lake City Autoworks when your car is giving you trouble.

Karl and his team are the best! I’ve gone to them for all of my services since I moved to Seattle and I couldn’t be more pleased. Just today I went in for what we thought was a faulty wheel sensor. Karl took a look at it and turned out that my steering sensor was off by a bit. They got it reset within minutes and everything was good to go, no charge. I can’t thank them enough for how they’ve treated me so far, and I refuse to take my Nissan anywhere else. They’ve got such a great rating for a reason. I highly recommend them. :)

Awesome service every time. They never try and sell me things I dont need, and always tell me if there is something that could be fixed but I can live without and isnt damaging my car. They have even taken my car in when they were completely booked to help me out of a jam. They are a great automotive shop that you can trust!

Most recently, Karl replaced my cars battery. In just an hour or so, it was ready for me to drive home. Lake City Auto Works has kept my little old 1989 Honda Civic humming for many years. Their service is unfailingly prompt, courteous, and expert. I have complete confidence in this shop and wont take my car anywhere else.

The reason I picked this place to work on my car was because Stetner Auto Body referred me to them. Unfortunately this auto shop worked on the wrong part of my car. I explained that my cars engine keeps shutting off, and I asked them to replace my battery. Their response was to replace my alternator, and not replace my battery, a $930 mistake at my expense. 3 other professionals have since not been able to understand why the alternator was replaced, and today the battery is dead because it was not replaced. When I got the car back from them, the battery was dead and they had to jump my car (already a bad sign). If you go to this shop, remember that they charge a $30 fee for not using cash, which I think is ridiculous. I highly recommend you do NOT use this shop based on all of these details, otherwise; good luck.

Lake City Autoworks repaired both of my cars on time and with dependable quality work. They definitely will be the “primary care provider” for my cars in the future.

I was able to stop by and get some work taken care of. Lake City Auto Works has always gone out of their way when I have some issue with one of my cars and if they can they will fix it on the spot. They are also very flexible with scheduling appointments.

Despite being booked up for a couple weeks as all shops in the area were at the time, Lake City Auto Works was able to diagnose and fix the issue with my car’s engine electrical within 5-6 hours of me asking them if I could bring it in. This saved me my money by preventing additional cascading problems and saved me the trouble of having to figure out other transportation options and a later less convenient pickup time. Everything when as smoothly as car repairs ever can, so I’ll return to LCAW in the future.

This is my first Google review (and I doubt Ill write many more), but I want to let everybody know that I think Karl and his team are excellent. I first landed at Lake City Autoworks a few years ago because of a bad experience at another shop - one that I had been to several times. Karl took care of what needed to be fixed then, and its been great since that first visit. From light bulb changes to bigger fixes, LCA takes care of it all. I deliberately write takes care because I really do feel like Im taken care of. Most recently, I went in because of a check brake pad alert. I thought it would be a simple fix, but looking at the situation, the team noticed that the last brake change (where I had the bad experience I reference earlier) was done poorly - so poorly, in fact, that LCA needed to order a part to properly address the brake pad issue. Karl showed me what the problem was and let me know exactly what to expect. There are no surprises here. I could say that LCA are fixers, which they are - fixes that they inherit because of others incompetence. But the first word that comes to mind when I think of LCA is service. Theyre a service shop. And I trust them completely. Oh, one thing that is irrelevant to my experiences is that LCA seems to have a number of older customers, and theyre so kind and patient with them! That alone makes Karl and his team heroes in my eyes.

The staff are very nice but the owner was very DISHONEST with, probably because I don’t speak/understand English very well.I asked for a budget to fix Purge Valve of my car. the owner charged me $60 to tell me that the problem was Purge Valve (something I already knew and had already said before) ... in addition he budgeted the value of the piece for $69 (being across the street, at OReily the piece costs $40) and budgeted $200 for labor ... I thought it very expensive and questioned the value, he make $100 discount... I still thought it expensive. He said that it was a very laborious thing to do .... So I decided to search on YOUTUBE how to replace the Purge Valve on my car ... then I saw that it was just loosening TWO screws. I did it myself, I wasted 5 minutes doing it and I spent $40 in total.Don’t do that with people... be honest.. karma!!!

Current average star rating is 4.9 so I was skeptical going in first time. But the experience I had was exceptional, so I’m happy to contribute to their high ratings. Prices are reasonable and their customer service is top notch. Plus they have the cutest guard dog.

A good mechanic is worth their weight in gold, and weve struck that at Lake City Auto Works. They have taken the best care of our vehicles for almost a decade, and I cant ever see us going anywhere else. This is a destination mechanic. If we moved out of the neighborhood, I would go out of my way to continue coming here for all my car repairs & service.

Carl and his team are running a top notch shop. I first went in a few years back when I thought my clutch went out, Carl had it fixed in an hour and the repair was only a new clutch hose. After that service I have gone to Carl for preventative maintenance and oil changes. He is a very trustworthy mechanic. Highly recommended if you live in the LCW!

Great place!! Highly recommended!! Ive taken my cars to them several times and always been treated right. Once I took it in to have some regular maintenance done that I had previously had done there several months before and instead of taking advantage of forgetful me, they let me know I had already had it done. My girlfriend also had work done there and when she found out it was covered under warranty by the dealership, they didnt charge a dime, even though they had already done significant work.

They are honest, know what they are doing, friendly and affordable with quality service. They are a gem!

I have received great service from Lake City Auto Works for several years. I always trust that they are giving me great and quick service at fair rates. Recently our old, beat up Buick would not start. After a check up and discussion, Karl thought it would not be worth repairing - even though it would have earned him a lot. Instead he offered to help us find a newer car. This route led to a better situation, and he thoroughly checked out the new car before we bought it. And he did not even charge us for the old cars analysis or 10-day storage until I could donate it. Now that is great service and earns our continued trust.

I always took my Buick to the Buick dealership for repairs. Big mistake! Spent a couple of thousand of dollars there. I took it the first time to lake city and they said let’s try cleaning out the oil and putting new in. That worked for a couple months But than i had the same light come on and there worst fears came true after keeping car for a couple days checking it that the Buick dealership was putting wrong type of oil in it . So my engine was basically going bad it was burning oil. They didn’t charge me a dime.They are honest and talented. Take your care there. Good prices and A+ work and service. Best of all they are honest

Im fairly savvy with my vehicles and but when theres something more than I can handle I always, without a doubt, take it to Karl at Lake City Auto works. Ive been referring my friends and family to him for years; all have reported that they were treated well and the service was done properly at a fair price. Trustworthy, honest people. I have been doing business with the owners for over 20 years and I have never had a bad experience here and they know what they are doing! I have also sent them many customers and they all have had great experiences. Lets face it getting you car worked on is never a fun thing but these guys make it as little painful as possible.

I had the radiator in my 2000 Subaru Impreza replaced here. They were able to do the work in one day, at a significantly lower price than I had been quoted at other shops. I would definitely recommend considering them if youre looking for a shop in Lake City.

This is a terrible shop. It fits the cliché that you take your vehicle in for something as easy as an oil change, and they hand you a list of a million and one things they want to change that are extremely expensive. This is not my main mechanic and I’m aware of the few small faults my vehicle has. Lake city auto works were unwilling to talk and work with me. When I asked if they could just change the oil and not the list of things they handed me. I was told “screw you, you can leave with your car”.I understand there are a lot of great reviews on this shop. I only wish I was able to talk with the mechanic the good reviews are about.If you need a mechanic I would skip lake city auto works and look for better shop.

This place is wonderful! Car repairs scare me but these guys are genuinely friendly, straightforward, reasonably priced and go above & beyond to make sure my car is safe and ready quickly. This is my 3rd time using them & I wont go anywhere else!

It is hard to find a mechanic that will tell you exactly what is wrong with your car without trying to upsell you. This place is the exception, at least Karl is. Charges a fair price for work done and does it right. Gives you options for how to handle your repairs and lets you know the severity of the issue. I wad hesitant to post this because i worry he will become so busy he wont have time for my truck anymore!

They went Over and Above.We recently moved to Seattle and left what we thought was the only honest mechanic in the world. My adult daughter and I just bought a beater car just to get her back and forth to work only a few miles from home. We knew the car would have some issues, but we also didnt want to put a ton of money into it.Carl took the time to understand our situation and gave us a break down of what needed to be fixed now, what could wait to be fixed and what does not really need to be fixed with such an old car. I am very happy with the services they provided and his honesty.What blew us away the most though, is that this car was just purchased the day before we brought it in. The car we purchased was pretty dirty, the carpet/mats were filled with dirt from the previous owner. Lake City Auto actually vacuumed the car out for us and it was a delightful surprise.THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!!!!

This is the only place I will take my car when there is something wrong or there is important maintenance to be done. Their diagnostic abilities are great, and I have complete confidence in their work. There may be shops in Seattle that cost a little less, but I have not found one that I trust more. Their service is excellent. I have lost count of the times that they have driven me to work and picked me up. Their communication about what is going on with my car is clear, and they always let me know up front what needs to be done and how much it will cost. Take your car here with confidence.

Ive been taking my car here for many years, even after moving farther away. Karl is a competent, honest, and fair mechanic, and I would strongly recommend his shop to anyone looking for someone to work on their car.

I have a 97 Buick which we acquired from my in-laws, It had service now lights on, & what I thought was a water pump going out. Karl and his team found & CORRECTED THE ISSUES. The water pump was good & the squeaking noise was a belt tensioner. All corrected & done the same day. I will be back

Lake City Autoworks have top mechanics, even their owner Ron is among the team, who will work tirelessly on your car. In 2011, my Preludes transmission was on the verge of going out. At the time, I didnt have a trusted auto shop to take my car to, so I had to do some research. After talking to Karl the manager, he assured me that they stand behind their work 110%. They replaced it with a Jasper transmission and just last week I had the fluids changed and the Prelude rides smooth as ever. Needless to say, this is the one shop where I take all 4 of my family cars for simple repairs to timing belts replaced.How many of us have actually WORKED alongside our bosses?!? Lake City Autoworks mechanics must require some type of positive pressure and good work ethic otherwise the door out is just steps away....

I dropped in without an appointment on the way to work because I thought I had a bad water pump. Turns out it was the belt tensioner that was rubbing against my timing belt cover. They replaced just the belt tensioner and got done by noon even though the place was really busy. Its great to find an honest place, and Ill be back for the other small problems he found. Thanks again for squeezing me in, and next time Ill make an appointment.
