Using Hans VW Repair will cost you money, grief, and time. We took our ‘09 VW Jetta Sportwagen in for basic maintenance and upkeep. What came back to us was an utter disaster.Immediately upon starting the car we got a heavy dose of fuel fumes in the cabin of the vehicle. We figured this might be normal and thought it’d burn off. Upon pulling out and going down the road we were no further than Roxbury when we started to notice that whenever we’d try to accelerate the car would slip and spin out. When we would attempt to brake, again, we would slip and fail to brake correctly. The next day we did a test drive and noticed the same behavior and that the fuel was dropping quick. We ran out of gas and coasted into a gas station.Upon popping the hood and inspecting the engine area while the car was running, we noticed that fuel was streaming heavily out of the fuel filter and subsequently draining to the ground, coating the passenger tires. We believe this is what was causing the braking and acceleration issues, the slipping and skidding.We contacted the owner who replied with a terse couple sentence email telling us to contact a tow company and arrange pick-up and drop-off, which we did. He never tried to call us that day or any day about the matter. We felt the owner was attempting to turn the situation around and at no time accepted blame, responsibility, nor showed remorse. No offer to compensate, even partially. Only the Lyft ride was offered. We were forced to call them. We again had to call them at which point they told us to take Lyft, get our car, and hung up on us while we were in mid-sentence.Hans Auto Car Repair wasnt a good experience for us. The owner’s behavior is shocking as a former small business owner myself. You cannot depend on him for excellence nor professionalism; however, there is a bright spot and that is Joe. Joe is a kind and good person who treated my wife and I with respect and courtesy. Joe handles customer care at the frontdesk.

I called Hans for a second opinion and ended up going with this shop. The first auto repair shop I took my car to quoted me an absurd amount for a repair I wasnt sure I needed. Hans was super straight forward and very honest. They were great about updating me about the conditions of my car and the cost of everything. As long as I have my VW, Im going to be going to Hans Auto Car Repair. Dont hesitate to bring your car to this shop, they really know what theyre doing. Thanks again!

Had an oil change. People were siuper nice and really fast service.

They were able to quickly and affordably service my Q5, and I was able to book a same-day appt. They also provided additional services without labor charge, and were able to order and install same day an Audi trim part that was damaged. Mechanical and body/trim work, thats full service! Honest and reliable. Definitely recommend.

UPDATE: 7/30/20:Car was still shaking and had vibrations coming through the break pedal. Took it Auburn VW for a diagnostic explained to them what happened with Hans with my carbon cleaning. They found they didn’t put my alternator back on right. Like are you serious ? Worst experience ever with Hans Vw repair. Had to pay Auburn Vw a $150 for a hour of diagnostic to fix the mistake Hans caused. Can only image how much damage they caused to my engine for a simple one day job. Never taking my VW Passat back again !!Took my vehicle in for a carbon cleaning. Had a appointment first thing in the morning took all day to do. After getting my vehicle back I had a check engine light brought it back to them first thing next morning. They had the car all day again and upon receiving the car that time the next morning I started the car for work and my car was shaking really bad. Had to take it back again turns out I had a cylinder misfiring because one of my fuel injectors was dripping. Still wasn’t told why this happened. They ended up having my car a whole week to fix the error they must’ve caused. Communication was very poor was never kept up to date with what was doing on I always had to call for a update on my vehicle and where they were at. Very disappointing experience for a one day job to turn into a whole week !

The owner Hans Jr. has always been helpful to me, giving me suggestions when I had vehicle issues, even when I didnt need to bring my car in for service (used to be a frequent happy customer until I moved further away). He even loaned me one of his tools to find and fix my problem. Thanks Hans! Highly recommended for you local West Seattle VW/Audi owners. None better.

Our GTI has been serviced by these folks for a few years now, and they always treat us, and the car, well. Just yesterday they could have EASILY upsold us several hundred dollars in parts (I wasnt sure which replacement lightbulbs went in, and trusted them to know), but they chose not to. Its always great to have a shop that does great work and can be trusted.

I borrowed my friends car only to find out that the tire pressure in one tire was too low. I pulled into the car wash across the street to fill my tires and realized the air tank took only quarters. When I went across the street to this repair shop to get coins, the man at the front desk helped me out and filled my tire himself instead. Long story short: A kind person helped me out when the didnt need to. Good people work here.

Friendly guys! Vandals removed my tag and cracked my plate in the process, so I couldnt mount the replacement. These guys ordered replacement bracket for third of what VW dealership quoted over the phone. They had me all set within a week.

Went in for a new batterry and had the worst service I have ever experienced.Kept my car a month because it was a pain the a$$ to work on and couldnt figure things out. Never called to explain what was going on and made me feel like the bad guy. 2k later for labor and parts I didnt need, if the actually knew what they were doing.Left tons the grease on upholstery in a vintage car!Customer service could not have been worse. I feel robbed!

I had a good experience with this place. Needed service done on my VW, they accurately diagnosed my problem quickly, and got it taken care of quick. They also helped with getting the bill taken care of with the towing company that damaged my car. They also washed/vacuumed once it was ready to go, which was a nice touch.Highly recommended you take a look at this place if you need your VW/Audi/Porsche serviced.

Went in for an emissions test. It wasnt busy and so service was done right away. The individual who did the testing was nice and pleasant to interact with.

Ive had nothing but clear, concise explanations of my repair needs from Hans and his family. They are always on the ball with what an issue is, and if you ask me, taking your VW to them will save you alot on troubleshooting costs because they usually have a pretty good sense of the problem due to their experience.They are a family owned business that I can get behind, I only wish it were easier to get to by bus/light-rail because I often need to get to the airport after dropping off/picking up my car.

My story is a little different in that I have yet to pay Hans for anything except a quart of oil.In August of this year (2017), I bought my fathers 2002 VW Passat wagon. Im living back in Seattle for a bit and needed a car. Well the car seems to not like me. Ive had so many issues and Ive only had it a little over 2 months!! My father has taken it to Hans before so I thought I would stop by and ask him a few questions.Every time I stop by, and its been many, he makes time for me. He checks it, or puts a diagnostic tool on it, checks fluids, you name it. NO CHARGE!He takes time to explain the issues(s), and thankfully, tells me how important it is that I get it done now or later. Just stopped on Thursday 9/28, with another issue and he said, Lets go for a drive so I can see whats up. Okay, seriously, who does that?! Especially when he talked to me the whole way, explained what was happening, told me options, approximate prices, etc. Then he got out and didnt charge me a penny?!Love this guys work ethic. Hes not trying to gouge me, just earn my trust to get my business. I will DEFINITELY be scheduling work with him in the near future.

I had an awesome experience here. The employees are laid back in a friendly and helpful way. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my beetle, so I took it to them. They went through the same process of elimination as I, for a fair price, and when they had gotten it definitively diagnosed, they sent me a copy of the diagnosis and a quote to get it repaired. I had had the car towed to them, and the entire diagnosis all the way to the finished product and payment was done online and over the phone. I never even saw the shop until I came to pick up my car, which was perfect. I had called them multiple times a day while this was all happening and they took it in stride with patience. I really felt that they just wanted to help me out and do a great job. I really enjoyed the experience I had with them and highly recommend them. Since then, I’ve had to go back to get my skid plate refastened and that’s it. They did that for free, it was such a small thing. So long as I have this car, I won’t go anywhere else to have the major repairs done. They’ve earned my trust.ADD-ON***9/14/18 - A few weeks ago my check engine light came on. I went to NAPA on Tukwila International Boulevard and they scanned it, saying it was my O2 sensor. The O2 sensors are not something I’m comfortable doing on my car because it has to be lifted (phobia), so I took it to Hans. They diagnosed it as the mass airflow sensor (which is much easier to reach and is a $25 part vs. over $100+ for an O2 sensor). I didn’t realize it was cheaper and so much easier (I could’ve done it myself), so they did it. They did a really good job and I’m happy with the service, but I spent $266 on something I could’ve spent $25 on. Don’t go to NAPA for a scan is what I’m saying.

Super fast emissions testing, no appointment needed, just pulled in, handed over the keys, I wasnt even done listing all the things Ive done to the car off by the time the technician came back with my keys, probably 5 minutes, tops!

I came here to get my emissions testing. The staff was dismissive, unfriendly and communicated poorly.

Honest and great staff!

Employees have disregard to the people on the sidewalk. I made eye contact with the employee in the rear mirror as he was backing out and he did not slow down. I would have gotten hit if I did not make a run for it. Was planning to bring my car in, but I will be taking my car to Delridge Auto Repair instead.
