Ray Spencer is the epitome of professionalism and a true master craftsman. We have known Ray for over a decade and we couldn’t imagine calling upon someone else when it comes to touch up work. Ray takes the time to educate and explain the process to his customers. In turn, this establishes trust in his workmanship and sets the stage for the remainder of the project. In all our time working with Ray, we have never received feedback of a job not completed to a customers satisfaction. Ray is a joy to work with and we are very thankful for his services.

Ray did a wonderful job on a 60s Danish lounge chair that needed a lot of help. The chair had a fractured cross-brace, and the arms were semi-detached from the frame, making it unstable and unusable. Ray thoughtfully repaired and reinforced the chair, restoring it to its original functionality with no change to aesthetics. Highly recommend his work!

When moving to Seattle, some of our family heirlooms were damaged. We took them to Ray who finished them quickly and beautifully. You cant even tell what the damage is now. It was much appreciated.

I have a custom-made, imported table that had some finish scuffed off and a dent that I hired Ray to repair because he was highly recommended. The finish on it is very complex and intricate (several layers), but Ray assured me he had the right skills to fix it.When Ray showed up to fix it, I paid him up front for the work (my mistake). He filled the dent and painted on a match to the finish which looks like trying to paint a persons face in on a photograph. It sticks out like a sore thumb. Ray said that this was just because the gloss hadnt been properly matched, so it needed to dry and hed come back at a later date to do a coat of enamel to finish it off. I took him at his word that this would be a viable solution.Well, weeks later Ray finally came back and he tried again. He sprayed a huge area (3x3) with enamel to coat a 1x1 dent. Said he needed to to blend it. Now a chunk of the table is coated in a weird gloss and doesnt match the rest of it at all. Ray worked for a few minutes, said hed have to try one more time at a later date and said hed come back. This is when it started to go down hill. My assumption here is that Ray started to realize that he did not do a very good job repairing the table and was starting to make it worse. Rather than just fess up to it, he started avoiding my calls to schedule a third appointment. I called and emailed him several times before he finally called me back. The first time we set up his 3rd arrival, he gave me a window of 12pm-2pm for arrival. I called him at 1:50pm to see if he was still showing up - no answer, so I made plans to do something. He finally called me at 2:10pm to say he was running late and would be there in another half hour or 45 minutes. Well, it was outside of the window and I had other arrangements, so I asked him if we could reschedule. He said yes.We rescheduled for 10am the next morning. He actually said around 10. Id actually like to come earlier I said thats fine. 10 came and went then finally at 10:15am he calls me to say hes running late again (he took another client before me despite saying he was wide open that morning) and would be another 45 minutes - fully knowing I told him I had a hard stop at 11:15am that morning.I told him this wouldnt work and wed need to reschedule - again. I pointed out to him that this had been the 2nd time that he missed his own time window and Ray just lost it. He started rambling about how he was doing me a favor coming back to finish the job; like I was supposed feel grateful that he was finishing something I already paid him to do and said he was too busy to deal with me anymore so he told me to go and find someone else to correct it. I tried to very calmly say that I would prefer if he would just show up when promised, but he was already irate at this point and refused to discuss this matter further. So, now Im stuck with a table that is half coated in enamel and looks terrible, so I have to find a real professional to fix this. This was clearly beyond the scope of his work and rather than confess, he became angry when he was unable to do the job properly. If you ever hire this individual, make sure its for something simple that he has proven he can do in the past, otherwise you may be disappointed like I am. Also be aware that he doesnt respect other peoples time.Ive included photos of his repair below so you can see just how poorly it matches. Not good, Ray!

Ray Spencer was great to work with! I had moved from Virginia to Washington and an item that I loved the most was damaged. HE came, assessed the damage and determined he could fix it on site. He repaired the damage piece in a short amount of time and had no problem/reservation/hesitation to continue to fix it to my standard (even though his quality of work was great). I would call Ray again if I needed something fixed. And he is a great guy and great conversation.

Raycame to my home in West Seattle to repair a seriously damaged sleigh bed and solid wood bookcase. He is an artist with wood, filling, securing the full, then out comes his case of many colors and he paints an exact match with wood grain and finish. Amazing.
