Unbelievable Durability!I was given a bag back in the 1970s by a neighbor who was starting out as a sales rep and wanted someone to try out this new product... and I still use this for travel today! This bag is over 40 years old and I love it. The bag is super lightweight but is aptly named tough. Nothing pokes through and I can overpack it. Ive carried clothing, books, kids toys, you name it. They do repairs so you dont have to buy new--- I just now had a couple seams repaired (first time ever). As far as wear goes, I know of no other luggage that lasts over 40 years. There is nothing that compares on the market. Buy this and you will never regret it.

The Deluxe Pinto has a unique feature that I have not found in any other water bottle holder. The attachments for the shoulder straps are stitched to the cover/cap versus to the main pocket. I’ve found it more comfortable, and easier to use when I use it unzipped. In transport I zip it up, but when I start my walk I unzip it. Unzipped I can carry a bottle of 750ML wine (26oz) or a 48oz water bottle. The only issue is that I needed to exchange the 1/2” shoulder strap with a 1 1/2” padded shoulder strap; to accommodate the extra weight of a 48oz water bottle. It’s amazing how durable built the Pinto Deluxe is, for it allows me to use it the way I do.

Well worth the price. I had my first bookbag for 24 years and after using it in over a dozen countries, 100s of flights and using it every day, it was time for a new one. Only had to replace a few zippers over the years.

We had a Tough Traveler bag that we got in 1985 and it went on many trips with us and our children over the years. We needed to replace it as mildew got to it after a very rainy trip in St. Thomas. We contacted Tough Traveler and we were glad to see that they are still in operation in upstate NY! They recommended a great replacement and we hope to have it for another 36 years. Who knows? Maybe we will be traveling in our 90s! We are so impressed with the quality of the bags and their great customer service.

I was interested in redesigning the functionality of an ergonomic guitar strap which I had recently purchased. They immediately got involved in developing a new design, used their adaptable parts, and stitched on the spot, making for an immediate result. Tough Traveler is a fantastic long-standing institution that produces wonderfully rugged gear made proudly in the USA. I recently commissioned the remake of an old beloved rucksack that I still use -- they remade it perfectly and even restored my original gear. And my worn pack has a lot of character after all these years, the brand new pack makes me feel like I went back in time. They are an amazing team!

Tough Traveler dog carrier is well made and very comfortable. My dog is a 15 lb miniature Poodle and it took a couple of times before we found the right size for her. She loves it! The service and support from Tough Traveler to make sure I was satisfied made the experience a positive one. I should have provided the length height and weight to better determine the size needed to get the right size the first time. If your dog is the size of a Schnauzer or a Coker Spaniel, get the larger size.

Recently, I contacted Tough Traveler to repair an item Id bought from them over 30 years ago; it was a guitar zipper case cover where the whole zipper finally needed to be replaced. Their service was quick, very friendly, and above all--repaired as good as new. This is a company that really stands behind their work, even if the product is discontinued or no longer available. Tough Traveler LTD is a great company.

For more than 30 years I have been purchasing, first tote bags and fanny packs, followed by all sorts of luggage from Tough Traveler and have always been thoroughly satisfied. My latest experience involved trying to find a large fanny pack that I can use for my Geocaching hobby. The staff member worked with me to review all of their offerings and when I couldnt find exactly what I was looking for, we designed a custom order which took elements of different items and combined them to meet my needs. My large fanny pack was ready sooner than they had promised and I have been happily using it ever since. I am a committed Tough Traveler customer and dont even consider looking elsewhere. Additionally, while traveling in Portugal last year on a Rick Steves tour, another person on our tour admired my luggage and asked about how to contact Tough Traveler so he could order something from them. This tough traveler bag has been my constant companion nearly my entire life -- and look how well its holding up! Its practically new!I received this bag as an award, because I had perfect attendance in the 2nd grade at Howe School in Schenectady. The year was 1983. Im writing this in 2019 -- thats 36 years later.It didnt sit in a drawer during that time, either. In middle school, I used it with the Boy Scouts. In high school, I used it for Dungeons and Dragons dice. etc., etc. For the past 10+ years, I have used it for my medical supplies, which I need to access every day. I carry it to work, when I go out, when I go on vacation -- anywhere away from home.Tough Traveler deserves an award for the astonishingly good condition of this bag. Some cloth is becoming frayed along the left side, as you can just barely make out in the photo -- but apart from that, its in great shape -- if you didnt look carefully, you could believe its new.Thanks for the incredible workmanship of this bag, and I hope you continue to please your customers with your excellent bags.

My family has been buying Tough Traveler bags for years. We appreciate that the bags are made locally, here in Schenectady, NY by people living in our community. Weve toured the factory and saw how much attention to detail goes into each bag. The bags are extremely rugged and well thought out. You can buy a cheaper bag but if you want a good bag, buy a Tough Traveler. When we visited our daughter serving in the Peace Corps in Madagascar and every bag we carried was a Tough Traveler.

I got my first Tough Traveler bag as a High School graduation gift. That was close to 40 years ago. I used that bag for all weekends away and vacations for all those years. So when I finally decided the original bag had had its run, there was no replacing it with anything but another Tough Traveler. I ordered it at the beginning of the summer, to use for our weekend get aways. They didnt have a bag identical to my old one. They also didnt have the same color. But I emailed them, they told me about custom colors, and they made me a bag as close as possible to my old one. I love it even more! It has a zipper 3/4 of the way around one side, so you can open that and pack it like a suitcase. The old one was a top loader. If this one lasts like the old one did, Ill be 97 by the time it wears out. Heres hoping!In short, I cant recommend Tough Traveler enough. Their customer service is stellar, and their products cant be beat.

When I started kindergarten in 1995, my dad took me to get my first backpack at Tough Traveler because he knew they had the best bags. Then, he took me back there to get a duffel bag for swim practice later that year when I started swimming on a team. I still use that duffel bag when I go to the gym to swim laps today! The bag has not changed one bit in 25 years of use. It is amazing. Tough Traveler bags are timeless, unbreakable, and made in Schenectady. Buying quality American-made products is really important to me. Not to mention, the couple who helped me try on backpacks as a 5-year old still helps me pick out bags today (because even though I still have every bag Ive bought from them, I cant stop buying them.) Support this family-owned, local business and buy something that is made in the USA and built to last!! You wont ever need to buy another bag, but youll probably want to because theyre all so cool looking!

I love your products — I’m still using the bag I purchased to be used as a diaper bag for our daughter. She’s turning 33 next week! The bag is my travel “purse” now, and I ‘ve been using the same day bag for some 15 years — got a clean one a few years ago, but not because it wore out! Nearly one-half century ago, circa 1973, I met Mark, the founder of Tough Traveler, through a co-worker.At that time Mark was a one-person start-up operation in a basement and was designing and sewing custom nylon bags in addition to a small, in flux, standard bag line. The last time I saw Mark, before I moved to California, he was smoking a cigar, supervising a couple dozen seamstresses, and still finding time to design and manufacture custom bags.I own eight Tough traveler bags, all almost 50 years old. Yes, I am that old.Recently, I had a 46-year-old bag repaired by Tough Traveler (new zipper and some seam touch-up). The service, via the internet and mail, was great, like the product.Tough Traveler does not subscribe to built-in obsolescence.‘Nough said.

Purchased a youth backpack for my 6 year old. About 12 months later, the backpack had a strap that was coming loose at the bottom stitching to the pack and the one zipper was out of alignment. Neither a surprise in the life of a kids bookbag. Paid $8 to mail the bag back to Tough traveler and a week later they had it back to me at no extra charge. Thanks!
